second_o part_n of_o the_o former_a doctrine_n concern_v the_o three_o degree_n of_o liberty_n by_o which_o objection_n they_o contend_v that_o it_o be_v in_o the_o power_n of_o the_o regenerate_a either_o to_o persevere_v in_o righteousness_n or_o to_o depart_v from_o it_o object_n 1._o they_o who_o have_v liberty_n say_v they_o to_o choose_v good_a have_v liberty_n to_o persevere_v the_o regenerate_a have_v liberty_n to_o choose_v good_a where_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v there_o be_v liberty_n 3.17_o 2_o cor._n 3.17_o therefore_o they_o have_v power_n to_o persevere_v answ_n if_o the_o conclusion_n of_o this_o reason_n be_v right_o mean_v the_o whole_a reason_n may_v be_v grant_v to_o wit_n that_o the_o regenerate_a have_v so_o far_o forth_o liberty_n to_o persevere_v as_o they_o be_v lighten_v and_o guide_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n for_o the_o liberty_n which_o they_o have_v to_o choose_v good_a depend_v upon_o his_o work_n and_o motion_n but_o if_o it_o be_v mean_v that_o the_o godly_a have_v this_o liberty_n either_o always_o or_o so_o that_o this_o perseverance_n depend_v of_o themselves_o there_o will_v be_v more_o find_v in_o the_o conclusion_n than_o be_v in_o the_o premise_n and_o that_o for_o two_o cause_n 1._o because_o they_o have_v liberty_n always_o to_o persevere_v who_o be_v never_o destitute_a of_o the_o guide_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n which_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v 2._o because_o their_o liberty_n also_o to_o good_a who_o be_v never_o forsake_v of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n yet_o depend_v not_o of_o themselves_o but_o of_o god_n but_o here_o they_o reply_v he_o that_o be_v not_o forsake_v of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n except_o himself_o first_o withstand_v the_o motion_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v always_o the_o aid_n and_o assistance_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n ready_a that_o he_o may_v persist_v in_o that_o good_a which_o he_o purpose_v but_o the_o godly_a be_v not_o forsake_v of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n unless_o themselves_o first_o withstand_v he_o therefore_o they_o have_v always_o the_o assistance_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n ready_a that_o they_o may_v persevere_v but_o he_o who_o have_v this_o have_v in_o his_o own_o power_n to_o persevere_v or_o to_o decline_v because_o the_o cause_n be_v in_o his_o own_o will_v alone_o why_o he_o do_v either_o obey_v or_o resist_v the_o spirit_n move_v he_o when_o we_o deny_v the_o minor_a of_o this_o reason_n they_o prove_v it_o thus_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n do_v not_o inflict_v punishment_n but_o on_o those_o who_o sin_n but_o to_o be_v forsake_v of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v a_o punishment_n of_o sin_n and_o unthankfulness_n therefore_o no_o man_n be_v forsake_v of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n but_o who_o have_v first_o deserve_v that_o forsake_v through_o his_o own_o stubbornness_n the_o answer_n hereof_o be_v double_a they_o the_o regenerate_v deserve_v the_o departure_n of_o god_n spirit_n from_o they_o through_o their_o manifold_a sin_n which_o yet_o the_o mercy_n of_o christ_n and_o his_o power_n preserve_v in_o they_o 1._o the_o argument_n may_v be_v grant_v as_o concern_v the_o regenerate_a for_o in_o they_o as_o long_o as_o they_o be_v in_o this_o life_n there_o be_v always_o such_o remain_v of_o sin_n as_o they_o deserve_v not_o only_o temporal_a but_o eternal_a desertion_n and_o forsake_v and_o although_o because_o the_o sin_n which_o remain_v in_o they_o be_v forgive_v they_o of_o christ_n therefore_o they_o be_v free_v from_o everlasting_a punishment_n yet_o be_v they_o not_o free_a from_o chastisement_n so_o long_o as_o the_o remnant_n of_o sin_n abide_v in_o they_o there_o be_v therefore_o in_o respect_n of_o their_o sin_n
they_o to_o who_o it_o be_v give_v worship_n thing_n indifferent_a be_v diligent_o to_o be_v discern_v from_o god_n worship_n and_o this_o be_v the_o difference_n between_o thing_n indifferent_a or_o of_o middle_a quality_n and_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v proper_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n which_o difference_n we_o must_v diligent_o observe_v serve_v 1._o because_o when_o man_n feign_v other_o worship_n of_o god_n in_o they_o they_o feign_v another_o will_n of_o god_n which_o be_v to_o feign_v another_o god_n when_o they_o therefore_o so_o do_v as_o erst_o aaron_n and_o jeroboam_n do_v they_o be_v no_o less_o accuse_v of_o idolatry_n than_o they_o who_o purposely_o worship_v another_o god_n beside_o that_o jehovah_n reveal_v in_o the_o church_n 2._o because_o by_o confound_v of_o the_o true_a worship_n with_o false_a worship_n the_o true_a god_n be_v confound_v with_o idol_n which_o be_v worship_v with_o those_o worship_n invent_v by_o man_n 3._o because_o whatsoever_o be_v not_o of_o faith_n be_v sin_n and_o when_o any_o man_n do_v a_o thing_n as_o thereby_o to_o worship_n god_n his_o conscience_n not_o know_v whether_o god_n will_v be_v worship_v after_o this_o manner_n or_o no_o he_o do_v it_o not_o of_o faith_n but_o be_v ignorant_a and_o doubt_v whether_o god_n be_v please_v or_o displease_v with_o his_o work_n and_o therefore_o he_o presume_v to_o do_v that_o albeit_o it_o may_v displease_v god_n wherefore_o he_o do_v not_o thereby_o worship_n but_o contemn_v god_n but_o because_o the_o defender_n of_o worship_n invent_v by_o man_n allege_v
