the_o say_v william_n lenthal_n do_v combine_v with_o laurence_n whitaker_n esq_n and_o other_o in_o endeavour_v to_o take_v away_o the_o life_n and_o liberty_n of_o several_a of_o the_o prosecutor_n for_o examination_n but_o be_v act_v since_o by_o m._n speaker_n which_o show_v his_o perseverance_n in_o treachery_n against_o the_o state_n all_o which_o forego_v treachery_n be_v late_o print_v and_o publish_v by_o my_o procurement_n and_o with_o the_o consent_n of_o col._n george_n cook_n under_o the_o notion_n of_o ten_o article_n already_o prove_v upon_o oath_n against_o a_o evil_a member_n now_o in_o parliament_n 2._o that_o his_o excellency_n the_o lord_n general_n fairfax_n and_o his_o general_n council_n of_o officer_n do_v about_o novemb_n 1648._o declare_v that_o the_o resolution_n of_o the_o whole_a army_n be_v to_o b●ing_v all_o fomentor_n contriver_n and_o actor_n in_o the_o late_a war_n unto_o speedy_a exemplary_a justice_n and_o for_o that_o end_n upon_o the_o first_o of_o january_n 1648._o lieutenant_n general_n cromwell_n be_v precedent_n do_v appoint_v a_o committee_n of_o the_o army_n for_o examination_n of_o all_o discovery_n of_o criminal_a offender_n in_o relation_n to_o the_o late_a war_n unto_o which_o committee_n a_o petition_n with_o several_a article_n of_o treason_n wilful_a murder_n and_o near_o forty_o particular_n of_o absolute_a felony_n charge_v upon_o the_o aforesaid_a henry_n wollaston_n be_v refer_v by_o the_o general_n council_n of_o the_o army_n and_o upon_o examination_n of_o the_o say_a article_n against_o wollaston_n m._n speaker_n warrant_v for_o the_o release_n of_o the_o three_o priest_n and_o jesuite_n out_o of_o newgate_n viz._n edmond_n cole_n philip_n morgan_n and_o john_n wright_n be_v produce_v by_o the_o say_v wollaston_n upon_o sight_n and_o debate_v whereof_o col._n cook_n and_o other_o of_o the_o say_a committee_n do_v advise_v assist_v and_o encourage_v hannah_n jenks_n my_o wife_n from_o time_n to_o time_n for_o many_o month_n together_o in_o the_o bring_n to_o light_n m._n speaker_n notorious_a treachery_n 3._o that_o above_o twenty_o deposition_n of_o sufficient_a witness_n some_o of_o the_o common_a council_n and_o other_o of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n beside_o many_o material_a witness_n who_o can_v not_o be_v examine_v by_o reason_n of_o the_o late_a disperse_v of_o the_o army_n be_v take_v by_o the_o say_a committee_n and_o do_v clear_o prove_v mr_n speaker_n aforesaid_a treachery_n and_o the_o smother_n thereof_o by_o the_o false_a report_n of_o the_o say_v laurence_n whitaker_n and_o that_o col._n cook_n with_o several_a other_o colonel_n of_o the_o say_a committee_n do_v declare_v unto_o near_o forty_o common_a council_n man_n and_o other_o of_o this_o city_n of_o london_n that_o the_o forego_n treachery_n be_v clear_o prove_v upon_o oath_n and_o the_o reason_n why_o they_o do_v so_o declare_v themselves_o be_v that_o a_o business_n of_o such_o eminent_a concernment_n may_v not_o be_v smother_v by_o any_o treacherous_a policy_n or_o power_n whatsoever_o 4._o that_o the_o aforesaid_a deposition_n be_v deliver_v upon_o the_o 26._o of_o july_n 1649._o unto_o the_o judge_n advocate_n of_o the_o army_n who_o be_v one_o of_o the_o commissioner_n appoint_v by_o his_o excellency_n to_o make_v some_o further_a progress_n in_o the_o business_n but_o the_o say_a commissioner_n do_v labour_n to_o ensnare_v the_o prosecutor_n witness_n and_o their_o assistant_n and_o to_o question_v they_o for_o prosecute_a the_o aforesaid_a treachery_n against_o m._n speaker_n on_o behalf_n of_o the_o commonwealth_n as_o though_o they_o intend_v to_o smother_v m._n speaker_n treachery_n clear_o prove_v upon_o oath_n by_o the_o aforesaid_a deposition_n and_o to_o asperse_v and_o abuse_v the_o prosecutor_n and_o witness_n for_o declare_v the_o truth_n in_o obedience_n to_o the_o command_n of_o the_o say_a committee_n of_o the_o army_n all_o this_o notwithstanding_o that_o solemn_a covenant_n which_o the_o parliament_n force_v the_o people_n to_o take_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o almighty_a god_n bind_v they_o to_o discover_v all_o incendiary_n and_o evil_a instrument_n and_o endeavour_n as_o much_o as_o in_o they_o lay_v to_o bring_v they_o to_o public_a trial_n and_o zealous_o to_o assist_v one_o another_o therein_o against_o all_o opposition_n these_o be_v proceed_n which_o the_o very_a heathen_a will_v abhor_v and_o which_o be_v quite_o contrary_a to_o the_o late_a solemn_a and_o great_a declaration_n of_o the_o army_n and_o which_o if_o persist_v in_o by_o the_o say_a commissioner_n and_o not_o disclaim_v by_o his_o excellency_n at_o a_o immediate_a council_n of_o officer_n will_v most_o assure_o bring_v a_o odium_fw-la upon_o his_o excellency_n and_o the_o army_n beside_o expose_v they_o to_o the_o just_a censure_n of_o be_v inconstant_a to_o their_o principle_n faithless_a to_o their_o pretence_n and_o countenancer_n of_o treachery_n and_o injustice_n 5._o it_o be_v more_o than_o probable_a that_o whatsoever_o m._n speaker_n have_v act_v with_o the_o army_n have_v be_v mere_o out_o of_o design_n to_o destroy_v they_o and_o make_v the_o parliament_n odious_a in_o regard_n he_o have_v so_o betray_v his_o trust_n in_o his_o eminent_a office_n viz._n of_o be_v speaker_n of_o the_o house_n of_o commons_o master_n of_o the_o roll_n and_o late_a commissioner_n of_o the_o great_a seal_n of_o england_n as_o that_o above_o one_o hundred_o article_n of_o notorious_a treachery_n and_o injustice_n be_v ready_a to_o be_v exhibit_v against_o he_o by_o myself_o and_o other_o unto_o such_o commissioner_n as_o the_o parliament_n shall_v appoint_v for_o the_o free_a and_o public_a trial_n thereof_o 6._o that_o m._n speaker_n have_v many_o hypocritical_a and_o subtle_a agent_n who_o go_v from_o person_n to_o person_n from_o place_n to_o place_n to_o hinder_v m._n speaker_n treachery_n and_o injustice_n from_o be_v bring_v unto_o a_o public_a trial_n which_o agent_n do_v affright_v some_o people_n with_o m._n speaker_n power_n and_o greatness_n seduce_v other_o by_o large_a reward_n and_o promise_n and_o delude_v other_o with_o fallacious_a and_o specious_a pretence_n whereas_o through_o the_o assistance_n of_o almighty_a god_n i_o doubt_v not_o but_o to_o make_v it_o appear_v at_o a_o public_a trial_n that_o mr_n speaker_n have_v act_v the_o part_n of_o a_o dangerous_a agent_n for_o the_o pope_n and_o for_o the_o late_a king_n during_o these_o unnatural_a cruel_a and_o bloody_a war_n therefore_o i_o do_v hereby_o remonstrate_v and_o declare_v that_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o all_o the_o people_n of_o england_n both_o soldier_n and_o other_o in_o every_o city_n and_o country_n more_o especial_o in_o and_o about_o this_o city_n of_o london_n upon_o sight_n hereof_o with_o all_o possible_a speed_n to_o move_v the_o parliament_n with_o importunate_a petition_n to_o appoint_v commissioner_n for_o the_o speedy_a public_a trial_n of_o the_o aforesaid_a treachery_n against_o m._n speaker_n either_o for_o his_o vindication_n or_o condemnation_n and_o i_o do_v likewise_o declare_v that_o i_o be_o confident_a that_o no_o well-affected_a person_n whatsoever_o will_v dare_v direct_o or_o indirect_o to_o oppose_v the_o aforesaid_a public_a trial_n but_o will_v forthwith_o stir_v up_o all_o his_o friend_n and_o neighbour_n to_o second_v this_o my_o remonstrance_n with_o such_o vigour_n and_o resolution_n as_o become_v a_o free_a commoner_n of_o england_n in_o so_o public_a and_o equitable_a a_o matter_n and_o that_o whosoever_o do_v solicit_v any_o member_n of_o the_o parliament_n army_z council_n of_o state_n or_o commonwealth_n to_o suppress_v or_o hinder_v the_o public_a trial_n of_o his_o the_o say_v m._n speaker_n treachery_n may_v hereby_o assure_v himself_o that_o he_o will_v be_v look_v upon_o as_o a_o mercenary_a judas_n a_o friend_n to_o the_o son_n of_o belial_n a_o enemy_n to_o the_o god_n of_o justice_n and_o to_o the_o future_a safety_n of_o this_o languish_a divide_a nation_n last_o i_o profess_v before_o god_n and_o man_n that_o i_o be_o move_v to_o declare_v these_o thing_n out_o of_o no_o self-end_n or_o interest_n whatsoever_o but_o out_o of_o a_o desire_n to_o discharge_v a_o good_a conscience_n and_o a_o zeal_n to_o promote_v the_o good_a and_o welfare_n of_o my_o country_n eccles_n 8._o 11._o because_o justice_n be_v not_o speedy_o execute_v upon_o a_o evil_a work_n therefore_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v full_o set_v in_o they_o to_o do_v evil_a prov._n 28._o 15._o as_o a_o roar_a lion_n and_o a_o rage_a bear_n so_o be_v a_o wicked_a ruler_n over_o the_o poor_a people_n your_o faithful_a servant_n edw_n jenkes_n london_n aug._n 4._o 1649._o
