eminent_a danger_n that_o threaten_v this_o kingdom_n from_o foreign_a enemy_n and_o intestine_a disaffection_n and_o the_o design_n of_o evil_a man_n and_o that_o our_o coast_n be_v not_o sufficient_o secure_v against_o privateer_n and_o that_o therefore_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o a_o complete_a number_n of_o stand_v force_n be_v maintain_v and_o ship_n of_o war_n provide_v for_o its_o necessary_a defence_n as_o also_o consider_v that_o beside_o the_o supply_v upon_o the_o land-rent_n other_o fond_n will_v be_v requisite_a for_o the_o foresay_a end_n do_v for_o one_o of_o these_o fond_n free_o and_o cheerful_o offer_v to_o his_o majesty_n a_o subsidy_n to_o be_v uplift_v by_o way_n of_o pole-money_n and_o for_o make_v of_o which_o offer_v effectual_a his_o majesty_n with_o advice_n and_o consent_n of_o the_o estate_n of_o parliament_n foresay_a do_v statute_n and_o ordain_v that_o all_o person_n of_o whatsoever_o age_n sex_n or_o quality_n shall_v be_v subject_a and_o liable_a to_o a_o pole_n of_o six_o shilling_n except_o poor_a person_n who_o live_v upon_o charity_n and_o the_o child_n under_o the_o age_n of_o sixteen_o year_n and_o in_o familia_fw-la of_o all_o these_o person_n who_o pole_n do_v not_o exceed_v one_o pound_n ten_o shilling_n scot_n that_o beside_o the_o say_v six_o shilling_n impose_v upon_o all_o the_o person_n that_o be_v not_o deduce_v for_o their_o aliment_n that_o all_o seaman_n pay_v twelve_o shilling_n scot_n in_o name_n of_o pole_n that_o all_o tenant_n pay_v in_o name_n of_o pole_n to_o the_o king_n the_o hundred_o part_n of_o the_o value_a rent_n payable_a by_o they_o to_o the_o master_n of_o the_o land_n and_o appoint_v the_o master_n of_o the_o ground_n to_o adjust_a the_o proportion_n of_o this_o pole_n among_o his_o tenant_n according_a to_o the_o respective_a duty_n payable_a by_o they_o in_o money_n or_o victual_n effeir_a to_o his_o value_a rent_n that_o all_o merchant_n whether_o seaman_n shopkeeper_n chapman_n tradesman_n and_o other_o who_o free_a stock_n and_o means_n not_o including_n workmen_n tool_n houshold-plenishing_a nor_o stock_n of_o tenant_n upon_o the_o farm_n and_o possession_n be_v above_o five_o hundred_o mark_n and_o do_v not_o extend_v to_o five_o thousand_o mark_n shall_v be_v subject_a and_o liable_a to_o two_o pound_n ten_o shilling_n of_o pole_n and_o that_o all_o these_o not_o include_v as_o above_o who_o free_a stock_n and_o means_n be_v above_o five_o thousand_o mark_n and_o do_v not_o extend_v to_o ten_o thousand_o mark_n shall_v be_v subject_a to_o four_o pound_n of_o pole_n that_o all_o merchant_n whether_o seaman_n shopkeeper_n chapman_n tradesman_n and_o other_o not_o including_z as_o above_z who_o free_a estate_n and_o stock_n extend_v
