take_v notice_n of_o the_o many_o obstruction_n you_o have_v meet_v withal_o while_o with_o indefatigable_a care_n &_o diligence_n you_o have_v be_v earnest_o labour_v and_o endeavour_v the_o deliverance_n of_o the_o people_n of_o this_o kingdom_n from_o those_o many_o and_o great_a invasion_n make_v and_o much_o more_o intend_a upon_o our_o religious_a and_o civil_a liberty_n have_v not_o you_o assist_v by_o the_o almighty_a god_n interpose_v for_o which_o we_o can_v but_o render_v all_o humble_a and_o hearty_a thanks_o and_o now_o find_v the_o same_o evil_a spirit_n revive_v and_o work_v much_o more_o strong_o and_o effectual_o though_o much_o more_o close_o and_o cunning_o under_o specious_a pretence_n attempt_v that_o by_o subtlety_n which_o they_o through_o the_o goodness_n of_o our_o god_n can_v not_o obtain_v by_o power_n use_v such_o thing_n as_o a_o occasion_n and_o mean_n to_o divide_v which_o at_o first_o be_v ordain_v for_o the_o unite_n of_o all_o the_o godly_a and_o honest_a people_n of_o the_o three_o kingdom_n upon_o safe_a and_o just_a principle_n viz._n the_o protestation_n of_o may_n 1641._o the_o vow_n in_o june_n 1643._o and_o the_o solemn_a league_n and_o covenant_n in_o february_n 1643._o and_o other_o your_o several_a vote_n and_o declaration_n to_o the_o same_o effect_n although_o your_o petitioner_n do_v most_o hearty_o desire_v a_o right_a understanding_n and_o happy_a reconcilement_n between_o the_o king_n and_o parliament_n yet_o it_o be_v far_o from_o the_o thought_n of_o the_o petitioner_n and_o they_o hope_v of_o any_o other_o that_o have_v late_o out_o of_o good_a affection_n petition_v for_o a_o personal_a treaty_n to_o make_v use_n of_o the_o tumult_n commotion_n revolt_v of_o castle_n and_o ship_n thereby_o engage_v the_o kingdom_n in_o a_o new_a war_n or_o of_o any_o other_o difficulty_n the_o parliament_n have_v be_v or_o may_v be_v expose_v unto_o to_o precipitate_v their_o counsel_n or_o to_o destroy_v consideration_n the_o matter_n thereof_o they_o find_v it_o a_o petition_n for_o peace_n for_o peace_n indeed_o such_o a_o peace_n as_o be_v pursue_v by_o this_o house_n and_o all_o honest_a man_n with_o preservation_n of_o religion_n law_n and_o liberty_n of_o the_o subject_n in_o a_o safe_a and_o wellgrounded_n peace_n upon_o the_o principle_n whereupon_o we_o first_o engage_v they_o look_v also_o upon_o the_o seasonableness_n of_o it_o at_o such_o time_n when_o man_n spirit_n by_o the_o artifice_n of_o malignant_n be_v so_o heighten_v against_o the_o parliament_n that_o honest_a man_n scarce_o dare_v own_o the_o former_a cause_n and_o yet_o at_o this_o time_n you_o dare_v justify_v your_o first_o principle_n and_o when_o there_o be_v scarce_o power_n to_o imprison_v any_o of_o always_o hold_v close_o to_o the_o cause_n and_o many_o noble_a commander_n and_o officer_n and_o other_o the_o gentleman_n of_o birth_n and_o quality_n that_o have_v less_o value_v their_o blood_n than_o the_o hazard_n and_o loss_n of_o so_o noble_a a_o undertake_n in_o which_o they_o perceive_v the_o constancy_n of_o your_o resolution_n to_o the_o cause_n of_o the_o kingdom_n and_o of_o your_o
