follow_v of_o their_o work_n by_o the_o day_n or_o by_o the_o distress_n if_o a_o alehousekeeper_n suffer_v a_o dweller_n of_o the_o town_n or_o village_n where_o the_o inn_n or_o alehouse_n be_v to_o continue_v drink_v there_o but_o such_o as_o shall_v be_v invite_v by_o a_o traveller_n he_o shall_v for_o every_o offence_n forfeit_v 10._o s_o to_o the_o poor_a such_o offence_n be_v see_v by_o any_o major_n or_o justice_n or_o prove_v by_o oath_n of_o two_o witness_n to_o be_v take_v by_o such_o major_a or_o justice_n 21._o jac._n 7._o one_o witness_n be_v to_o be_v take_v if_o he_o sell_v less_o than_o a_o ale-quart_n of_o the_o best_a bear_n or_o ale_n for_o a_o penny_n and_o 2._o quart_n of_o the_o small_a he_o shall_v forfeit_v 20._o s._n to_o the_o poor_a for_o every_o offence_n offender_n shall_v not_o be_v eftsoons_o punish_v or_o correct_v for_o the_o same_o offence_n by_o any_o other_o way_n or_o mean_n provide_v always_o that_o this_o act_n or_o any_o thing_n therein_o contain_v prejudice_v the_o liberty_n of_o the_o university_n shall_v not_o be_v prejudice_v shall_v not_o be_v prejudicial_a to_o either_o of_o the_o two_o university_n of_o this_o land_n but_o that_o the_o chancellor_n master_n and_o scholar_n and_o the_o successor_n of_o they_o and_o either_o of_o they_o may_v as_o full_o use_v and_o enjoy_v all_o their_o jurisdiction_n right_n privilege_n the_o convenient_a use_n and_o expense_n of_o he_o she_o or_o their_o household_n only_o upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v for_o every_o barrel_n sell_v utter_v or_o deliver_v contrary_a to_o the_o form_n and_o true_a meaning_n of_o this_o act_n the_o sum_n of_o six_o shilling_n eight_o penny_n and_o so_o after_o that_o rate_n for_o a_o great_a or_o lesser_a quantity_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o that_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o all_o offence_n to_o be_v do_v or_o commit_v contrary_a to_o the_o true_a meaning_n presentment_n all_o offence_n against_o this_o act_n shall_v be_v hear_v and_o determine_v in_o the_o session_n of_o the_o peace_n for_o the_o county_n city_n or_o town_n where_o the_o offence_n be_v commit_v by_o action_n of_o debt_n information_n indictment_n or_o presentment_n of_o this_o act_n and_o all_o penalty_n aforesaid_a shall_v be_v inquire_v of_o sue_v for_o hear_v and_o determine_v in_o the_o session_n of_o the_o peace_n for_o the_o county_n city_n sheriff_n bailiff_n or_o other_o officer_n or_o person_n that_o shall_v levy_v or_o receive_v any_o sum_n or_o sum_n of_o money_n forfeit_v and_o recover_v according_a to_o the_o true_a meaning_n of_o this_o act_n shall_v and_o may_v by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n without_o further_a warrant_n deliver_v the_o one_o half_a of_o the_o same_o sum_n and_o sum_n of_o money_n by_o he_o or_o they_o so_o levy_v or_o receive_v to_o some_o one_o or_o more_o of_o the_o churchwarden_n and_o overseer_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o the_o same_o parish_n where_o the_o same_o offence_n shall_v be_v commit_v to_o be_v by_o they_o and_o every_o of_o they_o distribute_v and_o bestow_v among_o the_o say_a poor_a people_n according_a to_o the_o true_a meaning_n of_o this_o act_n who_o shall_v likewise_o have_v authority_n by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n to_o distribute_v and_o bestow_v the_o same_o according_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v that_o every_o sheriff_n bailiff_n and_o thereof_o the_o person_n that_o shall_v levy_v and_o receive_v the_o forfeiture_n by_o this_o act_n shall_v deliver_v half_a thereof_o to_o the_o churchwarden_n and_o overseer_n for_o the_o poor_a to_o be_v by_o they_o distribute_v to_o the_o poor_a if_o such_o person_n refuse_v to_o pay_v over_o the_o say_a moiety_n or_o that_o the_o churchwarden_n and_o overseer_n do_v not_o within_o convenient_a time_n distribute_v the_o same_o to_o the_o poor_a every_o person_n so_o offend_v shall_v forfeit_v the_o double_a value_n thereof_o other_o officer_n and_o person_n which_o shall_v levy_v or_o receive_v any_o such_o forfeiture_n or_o forfeiture_n aforesaid_a and_o shall_v pay_v over_o the_o moiety_n and_o one_o half_a thereof_o according_a to_o the_o true_a meaning_n of_o this_o act_n shall_v be_v thereof_o discharge_v against_o the_o king_n majesty_n his_o heir_n and_o successor_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v that_o if_o any_o sheriff_n baylisse_n or_o other_o officer_n or_o person_n shall_v refuse_v to_o pay_v over_o the_o moiety_n and_o one_o half_a of_o the_o say_a money_n by_o he_o or_o they_o levy_v or_o receive_v or_o that_o the_o say_v churchwarden_n and_o overseer_n to_o who_o the_o say_a money_n shall_v be_v so_o pay_v shall_v not_o from_o time_n to_o time_n within_o convenient_a time_n true_o distribute_v and_o bestow_v the_o same_o to_o and_o among_o the_o poor_a people_n according_a to_o the_o true_a meaning_n of_o this_o act_n that_o then_o every_o person_n so_o offend_v shall_v forfeit_v double_a the_o value_n thereof_o to_o be_v recover_v and_o employ_v as_o aforesaid_a anno_fw-la tricesimo_fw-la tertio_fw-la henrici_fw-la octavi_fw-la cap._n ix_o artillery_n shall_v be_v maintain_v and_o unlawful_a game_n debar_v be_v it_o also_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o no_o manner_n day_n none_o shall_v keep_v a_o common_a house_n alley_n or_o place_n of_o bowt_v tennis_n dice_v table_n card_v etc._n etc._n upon_o pain_n to_o sorfeit_v 40._o s._n for_o every_o day_n of_o person_n or_o person_n of_o what_o degree_n quality_n or_o condition_n soever_o he_o or_o they_o be_v from_o the_o feast_n of_o the_o nativity_n of_o saint_n john_n baptist_n now_o next_o come_n by_o himself_o factor_n deputy_n servant_n or_o other_o person_n shall_v for_o his_o or_o their_o gain_n lucre_n or_o live_v keep_v have_v hold_v occupy_v exercise_n or_o maintain_v any_o common_a house_n alley_n or_o place_n of_o bowl_v coyt_v cloyshcayle_n half-bowl_n tennis_n dice_v table_n or_o card_v or_o any_o other_o manner_n of_o game_n prohibit_v by_o any_o estatute_n heretofore_o make_v or_o any_o unlawful_a new_a game_n now_o invent_v or_o make_v or_o any_o other_o new_a unlawful_a game_n hereafter_o to_o be_v invent_v find_v have_v or_o make_v upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v and_o pay_v for_o every_o day_n keep_v have_v or_o maintain_v or_o suffer_v any_o such_o game_n to_o be_v have_v keep_v execute_v play_v or_o d._n every_o person_n use_v the_o say_a house_n and_o play_n and_o there_o play_v to_o forfeit_v for_o every_o time_n 6._o s._n 8._o d._n maintain_v within_o any_o such_o house_n garden_n alley_n or_o other_o place_n contrary_a to_o the_o form_n and_o effect_n of_o this_o estatute_n forty_o shilling_n and_o also_o every_o person_n use_v and_o haunt_v any_o of_o the_o say_a house_n and_o play_n and_o there_o play_v to_o forfeit_v for_o every_o time_n play_n if_o any_o sue_v for_o a_o placard_n the_o game_n shall_v be_v contain_v therein_o that_o he_o will_v use_v in_o his_o house_n and_o what_o person_n shall_v play_v thereat_o every_o placard_v grant_v to_o the_o contrary_a to_o be_v void_a that_o the_o party_n before_o he_o put_v such_o placard_n in_o execution_n shall_v be_v bind_v with_o surety_n in_o
