parish_n or_o village_n near_o adjoin_v to_o such_o city_n or_o burrough_n to_o be_v join_v therewith_o in_o the_o election_n as_o may_v make_v the_o same_o proportionable_a 3._o that_o the_o people_n do_v of_o course_n choose_v themselves_o a_o representative_a once_o in_o two_o year_n and_o shall_v meet_v for_o that_o purpose_n upon_o the_o first_o thursday_n in_o every_o second_o may_n by_o eleven_o of_o of_o clock_n in_o the_o morning_n and_o the_o representative_n so_o choose_v to_o meet_v upon_o the_o second_o thursday_n in_o june_n follow_v at_o the_o usual_a place_n in_o westminster_n or_o such_o other_o place_n as_o by_o the_o forego_n representative_a or_o the_o council_n of_o state_n in_o the_o interval_n shall_v be_v from_o time_n to_o time_n appoint_v and_o publish_v to_o the_o people_n at_o the_o least_o twenty_o day_n before_o the_o time_n of_o election_n and_o to_o continue_v their_o session_n there_o or_o elsewhere_o until_o the_o second_o thursday_n in_o december_n follow_v unless_o they_o shall_v adjourn_v or_o dissolve_v themselves_o soon_o but_o not_o to_o continue_v long_o the_o election_n of_o the_o first_o representative_a to_o be_v on_o the_o first_o thursday_n in_o may_n 1649._o and_o that_o and_o all_o future_a election_n to_o be_v according_a to_o the_o rule_v prescribe_v for_o the_o same_o purpose_n in_o this_o agreement_n viz._n 1._o that_o the_o elector_n in_o every_o division_n shall_v be_v native_n or_o denizen_n of_o england_n not_o person_n receive_v alm_n but_o such_o as_o be_v assess_v ordinary_o towards_o the_o relief_n of_o the_o poor_a not_o servant_n to_o and_o receive_v wage_n from_o any_o particular_a person_n and_o in_o all_o election_n except_o for_o the_o university_n they_o shall_v be_v man_n of_o one_o and_o twenty_o year_n old_a or_o upward_o and_o housekeeper_n dwell_v within_o the_o division_n for_o which_o the_o election_n be_v provide_v that_o until_o the_o end_n of_o seven_o year_n next_o ensue_v the_o time_n herein_o limit_v for_o the_o end_n of_o this_o present_a parliament_n no_o person_n shall_v be_v admit_v to_o or_o have_v any_o hand_n or_o voice_n in_o such_o election_n have_v voice_n in_o election_n in_o one_o place_n or_o other_o provide_v that_o of_o those_o none_o shall_v be_v eligible_a for_o the_o first_o or_o second_o representative_n who_o have_v not_o voluntary_o assist_v the_o parliament_n against_o the_o king_n either_o in_o person_n before_o the_o 14._o of_o june_n 1645._o or_o else_o in_o money_n plate_n horse_n or_o arm_n lend_v upon_o the_o proposition_n before_o the_o end_n of_o may_n 1643._o or_o who_o have_v join_v in_o or_o abet_v the_o treasonable_a engagement_n in_o london_n in_o the_o year_n 1647._o or_o who_o declare_v or_o rule_n in_o the_o precede_a article_n be_v not_o capable_a of_o elect_v until_o the_o end_n of_o seven_o year_n shall_v not_o be_v capable_a to_o be_v elect_v until_o the_o end_n of_o 14._o year_n next_o ensue_v and_o we_o do_v desire_n and_o recommend_v it_o to_o all_o man_n that_o in_o all_o time_n the_o person_n to_o be_v choose_v for_o this_o great_a trust_n may_v be_v man_n of_o courage_n fear_v god_n and_o hate_v covetousness_n and_o that_o our_o representative_n will_v make_v the_o best_a provision_n for_o that_o end_n 3._o that_o whoever_o by_o the_o two_o rule_n in_o the_o next_o representative_a or_o be_v elect_v shall_v presume_v to_o sit_v or_o vote_n in_o either_o of_o the_o say_a representative_n shall_v incur_v the_o pain_n of_o confiscation_n of_o the_o moiety_n of_o his_o estate_n to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o public_a in_o case_n he_o have_v any_o estate_n visible_a to_o the_o value_n of_o fifty_o pound_n and_o if_o he_o have_v not_o such_o a_o estate_n than_o he_o shall_v incur_v the_o pain_n of_o imprisonment_n for_o 3._o month_n and_o if_o any_o person_n shall_v forcible_o oppose_v molest_v or_o hinder_v the_o people_n capable_a of_o elect_v as_o aforesaid_a in_o their_o quiet_a and_o free_a election_n of_o representor_n for_o the_o first_o representative_a than_o each_o person_n so_o offend_v shall_v incur_v the_o penalty_n of_o confiscation_n of_o his_o whole_a estate_n both_o real_a and_o personal_a and_o if_o he_o have_v not_o a_o estate_n to_o the_o value_n of_o fifty_o pound_n shall_v suffer_v imprisonment_n during_o one_o whole_a year_n without_o bail_n or_o mainprize_n provide_v that_o the_o offender_n in_o each_o such_o case_n be_v convict_v within_o three_o month_n next_o after_o the_o commit_n of_o his_o
