in_o the_o pulpit_n or_o some_o other_o convenient_a place_n in_o the_o church_n geve_v knowledge_n and_o warning_n at_o the_o end_n of_o some_o of_o the_o morning_n service_n to_o the_o parishioner_n then_o and_o there_o present_a to_o prepare_v themselves_o on_o the_o sunday_n next_o after_o midsummer_n day_n than_o next_o follow_v to_o come_v to_o the_o church_n and_o there_o to_o elect_v and_o choose_v collector_n and_o gatherer_n for_o the_o poor_a according_a to_o the_o tenor_n of_o this_o act_n and_o if_o the_o parson_n vicar_n curate_n or_o minister_n shall_v make_v default_n in_o geve_v of_o the_o say_a knowledge_n that_o then_o he_o or_o they_o so_o make_v default_n to_o forfeit_v &_o lose_v xl.s_n towards_o the_o reparation_n of_o the_o say_a church_n and_o the_o churchwarden_n of_o the_o say_v paryshe_v to_o sue_v and_o distrayne_v for_o the_o same_o in_o such_o form_n as_o before_o be_v appoint_v for_o the_o other_o forfeiture_n and_o further_o be_v it_o enact_v by_o thaucthoritie_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o say_v gatherer_n or_o collector_n for_o the_o poor_a so_o to_o be_v choose_v as_o be_v aforesaid_a shall_v make_v their_o just_a account_n quarterly_a to_o the_o major_n or_o chief_a officer_n of_o the_o say_a city_n boroughe_n and_o town_n corporate_a and_o in_o every_o parish_n of_o the_o say_a country_n to_o the_o parson_n vicar_n or_o curate_n and_o churchwarden_n of_o the_o paryshe_v at_o which_o account_n such_o of_o the_o paryshe_v as_o will_n may_v be_v present_a and_o when_o they_o go_v out_o of_o their_o office_n they_o shall_v delyver_v or_o cause_v to_o be_v delyver_v forthwith_o upon_o the_o end_n of_o their_o account_n all_o such_o surplusage_n of_o money_n as_o then_o shall_v remain_v of_o their_o collection_n undistribute_v to_o be_v put_v in_o their_o common_a chest_n of_o the_o church_n or_o in_o some_o other_o safe_a place_n to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a at_o the_o oversyght_n and_o discression_n way_n to_o extend_v their_o charity_n to_o the_o poor_a as_o in_o this_o act_n be_v well_o mean_v &_o intend_v and_o if_o the_o person_n or_o person_n so_o send_v for_o of_z his_z or_o their_o froward_a or_o wylfull_a mind_n shall_v obstinate_o refuse_v to_o geve_v weke_o for_o the_o relief_n of_o the_o poor_a according_a to_o his_o or_o their_o hability_n that_o then_o the_o bishop_n or_o ordinary_a of_o the_o diocese_n chauncelour_n or_o their_o commissary_n shall_v have_v full_a power_n and_o authority_n by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n to_o bind_v the_o say_v obstinate_a and_o wylfull_a person_n so_o refuse_v unto_o the_o queen_n by_o recognisaunce_n in_o the_o sum_n of_o ten_o pound_n with_o condition_n thereupon_o to_o be_v endorse_v that_o the_o say_v obstinate_a court_n to_o be_v hold_v before_o the_o say_a mayor_n baylyffe_n or_o other_o head_n officer_n within_o every_o such_o city_n borough_n or_o town_n corporate_a and_o that_o the_o same_o obstinate_a person_n shall_v not_o from_o thence_o depart_v without_o licence_n of_o the_o say_a justice_n if_o he_o dwell_v out_o of_o any_o city_n borough_n or_o town_n corporate_a or_o of_o the_o say_a mayor_n such_o city_n borough_n or_o town_n corporate_a if_o the_o say_v obstinate_a person_n do_v appear_v before_o they_o shall_v charitablye_o and_o gentel_o persuade_v and_o move_v the_o say_v obstinate_a
person_n to_o extend_v he_o or_o their_o charity_n towards_o the_o relief_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o the_o paryshe_v where_o he_o or_o she_o inhabit_v and_o dwell_v and_o if_o he_o or_o she_o shall_v obstinate_o and_o wilful_o stand_v in_o the_o same_o and_o will_v not_o be_v persuade_v therein_o by_o the_o say_a justice_n mayor_n baylyffe_n or_o other_o head_n officer_n that_o then_o it_o shall_v and_o may_v be_v lawful_a to_o and_o for_o the_o say_a justice_n if_o it_o be_v out_o of_o any_o city_n borough_n or_o town_n corporate_a and_o if_o it_o be_v within_o any_o city_n borough_n or_o town_n corporate_a for_o the_o mayor_n bailiff_n or_o other_o head_n officer_n of_o the_o same_o city_n borough_n or_o town_n corporate_a with_o the_o churchwarden_n where_o the_o say_v obstinate_a person_n shall_v inhabit_v or_o one_o of_o they_o to_o sesse_v tax_v and_o limit_v upon_o every_o such_o obstinate_a person_n so_o refuse_v according_a to_o their_o good_a discression_n what_o sum_n the_o say_v obstinate_a person_n shall_v pay_v weke_o towards_o the_o relief_n of_o the_o poor_a within_o the_o say_v paryshe_v where_o he_o or_o she_o shall_v inhabit_v and_o dwell_v and_o if_o the_o say_a person_n so_o sess_v and_o tax_v shall_v refuse_v to_o pay_v the_o sum_n that_o shall_v be_v so_o reasonablye_o limit_v tax_v and_o appoint_v then_o the_o say_a justice_n of_o peace_n or_o two_o of_o they_o whereof_o the_o one_o to_o be_v of_o the_o quorum_fw-la or_o the_o say_a mayor_n baylyffe_n or_o other_o head_n officer_n of_o every_o such_o city_n borough_n or_o town_n corporate_a shall_v have_v full_a power_n and_o authority_n by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n upon_o complaint_n and_o certificate_n to_o they_o by_o the_o collector_n and_o churchwarden_n of_o the_o same_o as_o the_o late_a king_n of_o famous_a memory_n king_n henry_n the_o viij_o his_o heir_n or_o successor_n or_o any_o other_o person_n or_o person_n by_o his_o or_o their_o several_a &_o lawful_a erection_n and_o foundation_n have_v or_o have_v ordain_v &_o appoint_v any_o sum_n or_o sum_n of_o money_n to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a or_o for_o the_o repair_a or_o amend_v of_o high_a way_n or_o bridge_n not_o be_v take_v away_o otherwise_o by_o act_n of_o parliament_n whether_o the_o same_o be_v in_o any_o cathedral_n church_n college_n or_o else_o where_o the_o bishop_n of_o the_o diocese_n or_o chauncelour_n for_o the_o time_n be_v shall_v from_o time_n to_o time_n examine_v how_o and_o after_o what_o manner_n the_o say_a money_n be_v bestow_v &_o to_o call_v to_o account_v the_o party_n which_o retain_v the_o say_a money_n and_o thereupon_o to_o take_v such_o order_n as_o the_o same_o from_o thenceforth_o be_v distribute_v to_o the_o poor_a accord_v to_o the_o good_a intent_n and_o purpose_n of_o the_o say_v noble_a king_n that_o grant_v the_o same_o and_o if_o they_o shall_v fail_v yearly_o to_o call_v to_o account_v the_o person_n aforesaid_a in_o form_n aforesaid_a and_o after_o account_n to_o order_v the_o distribution_n of_o the_o say_a money_n in_o manner_n before_o declare_v to_o forfeit_v for_o every_o such_o default_n xx.li_fw-la to_o be_v employ_v to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a by_o the_o oversight_n of_o three_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n within_o the_o say_a county_n where_o the_o person_n that_o so_o shall_v account_v dwell_v to_o be_v levy_v by_o way_n of_o distress_n or_o otherwise_o as_o other_o forfeiture_n in_o this_o estatute_n be_v appoint_v to_o be_v levy_v and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o thaucthoritie_n aforesaid_a if_o it_o shall_v chance_v any_o paryshe_v to_o have_v in_o it_o mo_z poor_a &_o impotent_a folk_n not_o able_a to_o labour_v than_o the_o say_a parish_n be_v able_a to_o relief_n that_o then_o in_o every_o such_o paryshe_v not_o stand_v in_o any_o city_n or_o town_n corporate_a the_o parson_n vicar_n or_o curate_n of_o the_o say_v paryshe_v and_o two_o or_o three_o of_o the_o chief_a inhabitant_n of_o the_o same_o parish_n and_o in_o every_o city_n &_o town_n corporate_a the_o mayor_n or_o chief_a officer_n of_o the_o same_o city_n or_o town_n corporat_fw-la &_o the_o parson_n the_o seal_n appoint_v for_o the_o limit_n to_o go_v abroad_o to_o beg_v get_v and_o receive_v the_o charitable_a alm_n of_o the_o inhabitant_n of_o the_o country_n out_o of_o the_o say_a parysh_n city_n &_o town_n so_o surcharge_v in_o which_o licence_n thinfirmitie_n of_o the_o person_n the_o place_n town_n &_o parysh_n to_o which_o such_o poor_a folk_n be_v by_o that_o licence_n license_v to_o resort_v shall_v in_o the_o same_o licence_n be_v name_v limit_v and_o appoint_v be_v it_o one_o hundred_o or_o mo_z in_o the_o say_a county_n at_o the_o say_a discression_n of_o the_o same_o justice_n and_o if_o any_o of_o the_o say_v poor_a folk_n so_o license_v shall_v transgress_v the_o limit_n to_o they_o appoint_v and_o resort_v to_o beg_v at_o other_o place_n then_o be_v in_o the_o say_a licence_n name_v the_o party_n so_o transgress_v &_o offend_v to_o be_v take_v for_o a_o valyaunt_a beggar_n and_o punish_v according_a to_o the_o statute_n make_v in_o the_o say_v xxii_o year_n of_o king_n henry_n the_o eight_o &_o he_o or_o their_o licence_n to_o be_v take_v from_o they_o and_o if_o the_o say_a justice_n of_o the_o peace_n shall_v fail_v to_o appoint_v a_o day_n and_o time_n for_o inspection_n of_o the_o say_v poor_a and_o examination_n of_o the_o say_a certificatour_n within_o one_o month_n next_o ensue_v the_o day_n of_o receipt_n of_o the_o say_a certificate_n or_o shall_v grant_v or_o geve_v licence_n to_o any_o person_n or_o person_n so_o certify_v to_o go_v abroad_o and_o beg_v before_o such_o time_n as_o they_o shall_v have_v view_v and_o see_v the_o say_a poor_a person_n &_o have_v receive_v oath_n of_o the_o person_n that_o so_o certify_v that_o the_o say_v poor_a person_n for_o age_n impotency_n or_o sickness_n in_o their_o conscience_n &_o to_o their_o knowledge_n be_v not_o able_a by_o any_o work_n or_o labour_n to_o earn_v they_o necessary_a meat_n drink_n and_o cloth_n and_o the_o same_o deposition_n put_v in_o write_v subscribe_v or_o mark_v by_o the_o person_n depose_v to_o forfeit_v for_o every_o such_o default_n ten_o pound_n to_o be_v employ_v to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o any_o paryshe_v or_o paryshes_fw-mi next_o ensue_v by_o virtue_n of_o this_o estatute_n be_v compel_v to_o be_v retain_v to_o serve_v in_o husbandrye_a by_o the_o year_n with_o any_o person_n that_o keep_v husbandry_n &_o will_v the_o midst_n of_o may_n to_o the_o midst_n of_o august_n half_o a_o hour_n at_o the_o most_o and_o at_o every_o breakfast_n one_o half_a hour_n and_o all_o the_o say_a artifiter_n and_o laborer_n between_o the_o midst_n of_o september_n and_o the_o midst_n of_o march_n shall_v be_v and_o continue_v at_o their_o work_n from_o the_o spring_v of_o the_o day_n in_o the_o morning_n untyl_o the_o night_n of_o the_o same_o day_n except_o it_o be_v in_o time_n afore_o appoint_v for_o breakfast_n and_o dinner_n upon_o pain_n to_o lose_v and_o forfeit_v one_o penny_n for_o every_o hour_n absence_n or_o in_o gross_a or_o that_o shall_v hereafter_o take_v upon_o he_o to_o make_v or_o fynyshe_v any_o such_o thing_n or_o work_n shall_v continue_v and_o not_o depart_v from_o the_o fame_n unless_o it_o be_v for_o not_o payinge_v of_o his_o wage_n or_o high_a agree_v on_o or_o otherwise_o lawful_o take_v or_o appoint_v to_o serve_v the_o queen_n majesty_n her_o heir_n or_o successor_n or_o for_o other_o lawful_a cause_n or_o without_o licence_n of_o the_o master_n or_o owner_n of_o the_o work_n or_o of_o he_o that_o have_v the_o charge_n thereof_o before_o the_o finish_v of_o the_o say_a the_o time_n of_o such_o assault_n or_o affray_v have_v the_o charge_n or_o oversight_n of_o any_o such_o servant_n workman_n or_o laborer_n or_o of_o the_o work_n wherein_o the_o say_a servant_n hereditamente_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o after_o the_o first_o day_n of_o may_n next_o come_n it_o shall_v not_o be_v lawful_a to_o any_o person_n or_o person_n other_o than_o such_o as_o now_o do_v lawful_o use_v or_o exercise_v any_o art_n mystery_n or_o manuel_n occupation_n to_o set_v up_o occupy_v use_n or_o exercise_v any_o craft_n mystery_n or_o occupation_n now_o use_v or_o occupy_v within_o the_o realm_n of_o england_n or_o wales_n except_o he_o shall_v have_v be_v bring_v up_o therein_o seven_o year_n at_o the_o least_o as_o apprentice_n in_o manner_n and_o form_n above_o say_v nor_o to_o set_v any_o person_n on_o work_n in_o such_o mystery_n art_n or_o occupation_n be_v not_o a_o workman_n at_o this_o day_n except_o he_o woollen_a cloth_n common_o sell_v or_o to_o be_v sell_v by_o any_o cloth_n man_n or_o clothear_v shall_v take_v and_o have_v any_o apprentice_n or_o shall_v teach_v or_o in_o any_o wise_n instruct_v any_o person_n or_o person_n in_o the_o science_n art_n or_o occupation_n of_o weavinge_v aforesaid_a in_o any_o village_n town_n or_o place_n city_n town_n corporate_a and_o market_n town_n only_o except_v unless_o such_o person_n be_v his_o son_n or_o else_o that_o the_o father_n or_o mother_n of_o such_o apprentice_n or_o servant_n shall_v at_o the_o time_n of_o the_o take_n of_o such_o person_n or_o person_n to_o be_v a_o apprentice_n or_o servant_n or_o to_o be_v so_o instruct_v have_v land_n and_o tenemente_n or_o other_o hereditamente_n to_o the_o clear_a yearly_a value_n of_o three_o pound_n at_o the_o least_o of_o a_o estate_n of_o inheritance_n or_o frehold_v to_o be_v certify_v under_o the_o hand_n and_o seal_n of_o three_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n of_o the_o shire_n or_o shire_n where_o the_o say_a land_n tenemente_n and_o other_o hereditamente_n do_v or_o shall_v lie_v the_o effect_n of_o the_o indenture_n to_o be_v register_v within_o three_o month_n three_o apprentice_n one_o other_o jorneyman_n upon_o pain_n for_o every_o default_n therein_o ten_o pound_n provide_v always_o that_o this_o act_n nor_o any_o thing_n therein_o contain_v shall_v not_o extend_v to_o prejudice_n or_o hinder_v any_o liberty_n heretofore_o grant_v by_o any_o act_n of_o parliament_n to_o or_o for_o the_o company_n and_o occupation_n of_o worsted_n maker_n and_o the_o county_n wherein_o the_o say_a refusal_n be_v or_o shall_v be_v make_v or_o of_o such_o householder_n inhabitinge_v in_o any_o city_n town_n corporate_a or_o market_n town_n to_o the_o mayor_n intent_n and_o mean_v of_o this_o present_a act_n and_o if_o any_o such_o master_n shall_v mysuse_v or_o evil_n entreat_v his_o apprentice_n or_o that_o the_o say_a apprentice_n shall_v have_v any_o just_a cause_n to_o complain_v or_o the_o apprentice_n do_v not_o his_o duty_n to_o his_o master_n then_o the_o say_a master_n or_o apprentice_n be_v greve_v and_o have_v cause_n to_o complain_v shall_v repair_v unto_o one_o justice_n of_o peace_n within_o the_o say_a county_n or_o to_o the_o mayor_n or_o other_o head_n officer_n of_o the_o city_n town_n corporate_a market_n town_n or_o other_o place_n where_o the_o say_a master_n dwell_v who_o shall_v by_o his_o wysdome_n and_o discretion_n take_v such_o order_n and_o direction_n between_o the_o say_a master_n and_o his_o apprentice_n as_o the_o equity_n of_o the_o cause_n shall_v require_v and_o if_o for_o want_n of_o good_a conformity_n in_o the_o say_a master_n the_o say_a justice_n of_o the_o peace_n or_o the_o say_a mayor_n or_o head_n officer_n can_v not_o compound_v &_o agree_v the_o matter_n between_o he_o and_o his_o apprentice_n then_o the_o say_a justice_n or_o the_o say_a mayor_n or_o other_o head_n officer_n shall_v take_v band_n of_o the_o say_a master_n to_o appear_v at_o the_o next_o session_n then_o to_o be_v hold_v in_o the_o say_a county_n or_o within_o the_o say_a city_n town_n corporat_fw-la or_o market_n town_n to_o be_v before_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o say_a county_n or_o the_o mayor_n or_o head_n officer_n of_o the_o say_a town_n corporate_a or_o market_n town_n if_o enact_v by_o authority_n of_o this_o present_a parliament_n that_o the_o justice_n of_o peace_n of_o every_o county_n devide_v themselves_o into_o several_a lymitte_v and_o likewise_o every_o mayor_n and_o head_n officer_n of_o any_o city_n or_o town_n corporat_fw-la shall_v yearly_o between_o the_o feast_n of_o saint_n michael_n the_o archangel_n &_o the_o nativity_n of_o our_o lord_n and_o between_o the_o feast_n of_o the_o annunciation_n of_o our_o lady_n and_o the_o feast_n of_o the_o nativity_n of_o saint_n john_n the_o baptist_n by_o all_o such_o way_n &_o mean_n as_o to_o their_o wysdomes_n shall_v be_v think_v most_o meet_a make_v a_o special_a and_o diligent_a inquiry_n of_o the_o branch_n and_o article_n of_o this_o estatute_n and_o of_o the_o good_a execution_n of_o the_o same_o and_o where_o they_o shall_v find_v any_o defaulte_n to_o see_v the_o same_o severe_o correct_v and_o punish_v without_o favour_n affection_n malice_n or_o displeasure_n and_o in_o shall_v and_o may_v take_v have_v and_o retain_v apprentice_n there_o in_o such_o manner_n and_o form_n as_o they_o may_v lawful_o have_v do_v before_o the_o make_n of_o this_o statute_n this_o act_n or_o any_o thing_n therein_o contain_v to_o the_o contrary_a in_o any_o wise_n notwithstanding_o and_o be_v it_o also_o further_o enact_v that_o all_o indenture_n covenaunte_n promise_n and_o bargain_n of_o or_o for_o the_o have_v take_v or_o keep_a of_o any_o apprentice_n otherwise_o hereafter_o to_o be_v make_v or_o take_v then_o be_v by_o this_o statute_n lymit_v ordain_v and_o appoint_v shall_v be_v clere_o void_a in_o the_o law_n to_o all_o intentes_fw-la and_o purpose_n and_o that_o every_o person_n that_o shall_v from_o henceforth_o take_v or_o new_o retain_v any_o apprentice_n contrary_a to_o the_o tenor_n and_o true_a mean_v of_o this_o act_n shall_v forfeit_v and_o lose_v for_o every_o apprentice_n so_o by_o he_o take_v the_o sum_n of_o ten_o li._n and_o because_o there_o have_v be_v and_o be_v some_o question_n and_o scruple_n move_v whether_o any_o person_n be_v within_o the_o age_n of_o xxi_o year_n and_o bind_v to_o serve_v as_o a_o apprentice_n
