a_o reply_n to_o the_o excellent_a and_o elegant_a speech_n make_v by_o sir_n thomas_n player_n the_o worthy_a chamberlain_n of_o london_n to_o the_o right_a hon_fw-fr ble_a the_o lord_n mayor_n etc._n etc._n on_o friday_n the_o 12_o of_o september_n 1679._o by_o h._n b._n a_o unworthy_a member_n of_o the_o say_a city_n but_o can_v not_o be_v hear_v or_o understand_v then_o my_o lord_n i_o can_v but_o wonder_v at_o the_o manner_n as_o well_o as_o the_o subject_a matter_n of_o sir_n t.p._n his_o discourse_n as_o to_o the_o manner_n i_o suppose_v he_o may_v have_v inform_v your_o lordship_n and_o the_o court_n of_o alderman_n of_o any_o danger_n the_o city_n be_v in_o upon_o any_o account_n whatsoever_o without_o bring_v a_o hundred_o person_n at_o his_o heel_n i_o must_v take_v the_o boldness_n to_o tell_v he_o that_o it_o look_v more_o like_o a_o tumultuous_a number_n of_o apprentice_n do_v execution_n upon_o bawdie-house_n than_o any_o solid_a considerate_a way_n of_o advise_v good_a for_o the_o city_n or_o kingdom_n but_o i_o suppose_v the_o great_a policy_n of_o that_o may_v have_v three_o consideration_n one_o to_o show_v that_o he_o be_v able_a to_o lead_v up_o his_o man_n another_o that_o he_o be_v able_a to_o make_v a_o excellent_a speech_n or_o three_o that_o he_o for_o his_o great_a zeal_n and_o love_n to_o the_o city_n and_o nation_n be_v solicit_v by_o those_o person_n out_o of_o their_o great_a fear_n and_o apprehension_n of_o danger_n partly_o create_v by_o himself_o i_o be_o very_o sorry_a that_o a_o gentleman_n shall_v have_v give_v occasion_n for_o any_o citizen_n to_o have_v say_v so_o much_o but_o any_o thing_n concern_v his_o highness_n have_v be_v receive_v better_o from_o another_o hand_n than_o he_o because_o of_o the_o know_a grudge_n next_o as_o to_o the_o subject_a matter_n he_o seem_v to_o be_v very_o much_o offend_v at_o the_o city_n be_v be_v libel_v in_o the_o intelligencer_n by_o say_v that_o the_o city_n shall_v send_v to_o congratulate_v his_o highness_n his_o return_n as_o if_o it_o be_v such_o a_o immortal_a stain_n to_o the_o reputation_n of_o the_o city_n never_o to_o be_v delete_v i_o wonder_v it_o be_v never_o take_v notice_n of_o before_o have_v we_o congratulate_v he_o now_o it_o have_v not_o be_v the_o first_o time_n when_o he_o return_v from_o sea_n where_o he_o hazard_v his_o life_n for_o the_o maintain_n of_o our_o trade_n which_o we_o be_v the_o gainer_n by_o and_o have_v be_v in_o the_o heat_n of_o fight_n where_o several_a nobleman_n be_v kill_v about_o he_o we_o can_v then_o congratulate_v he_o as_o also_o do_v the_o nation_n with_o a_o present_n he_o do_v not_o want_v honour_n or_o preferment_n to_o do_v this_o for_o we_o but_o we_o may_v have_v congratulate_v he_o as_o he_o have_v condescend_v to_o be_v a_o member_n of_o we_o if_o his_o highness_n have_v so_o much_o malice_n in_o he_o as_o to_o necessitate_v we_o to_o be_v upon_o our_o guard_n in_o the_o nature_n propose_v sure_o he_o will_v never_o have_v venture_v himself_o as_o a_o private_a seaman_n for_o our_o service_n neither_o can_v i_o conceive_v any_o such_o great_a danger_n of_o our_o religion_n since_o his_o majesty_n be_v live_v and_o well_o god_n be_v thank_v his_o highness_n his_o title_n may_v never_o happen_v beside_o the_o assembly_n of_o parliament_n and_o our_o member_n there_o will_v take_v care_n of_o we_o in_o that_o point_n we_o speak_v well_o of_o our_o king_n general_o although_o i_o be_o afraid_a there_o be_v some_o among_o we_o that_o be_v sorry_a they_o can_v speak_v otherwise_o to_o further_a their_o design_n of_o enslave_v we_o under_o a_o parcel_n of_o factious_a and_o ambitious_a fellow_n and_o i_o hope_v there_o be_v yet_o person_n sufficient_a i_o know_v not_o what_o beside_o with_o which_o the_o vulgar_a be_v amuse_v whilst_o we_o in_o our_o government_n in_o the_o city_n be_v the_o most_o guilty_a of_o arbitrariness_n in_o the_o
