officer_n of_o corporation_n within_o this_o realm_n dominion_n of_o wales_n or_o town_n of_o berwick_n upon_o tweed_n from_o time_n to_o time_n as_o well_o by_o land_n as_o water_n to_o search_v whatsoever_o which_o shall_v hereafter_o buy_v any_o red_a tan_a leather_n within_o the_o city_n of_o london_n or_o three_o mile_n thereof_o shall_v before_o the_o next_o market-day_n within_o the_o say_a place_n for_o sale_n of_o leather_n give_v notice_n thereof_o to_o one_o or_o more_o of_o the_o company_n of_o curryers_n then_o exercise_v and_o use_v the_o art_n and_o mystery_n of_o a_o there_o the_o penalty_n by_o the_o say_a act_n make_v in_o the_o first_o year_n of_o king_n james_n that_o no_o person_n or_o person_n shall_v by_o any_o mean_n occupy_v or_o put_v in_o any_o made-ware_n within_o the_o city_n of_o london_n or_o three_o mile_n of_o the_o same_o city_n any_o curried_a leather_n before_o the_o same_o shall_v be_v search_v and_o allow_v by_o the_o warden_n of_o the_o curryers_n of_o london_n for_o the_o time_n be_v or_o such_o person_n as_o they_o shall_v thereto_o assign_v and_o be_v seal_v with_o a_o seal_n therefore_o to_o be_v prepare_v upon_o clerk_n of_o the_o market_n for_o offence_n that_o if_o any_o clerk_n of_o the_o market_n within_o his_o aforesaid_a precinct_n and_o limit_n of_o the_o verge_n of_o the_o king_n house_n only_o or_o any_o mayor_n or_o other_o officer_n whatsoever_o who_o by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n shall_v have_v power_n to_o inquire_v of_o any_o abuse_n in_o weight_n and_o measure_n shall_v seal_v or_o give_v allowance_n unto_o any_o other_o weight_n or_o measure_n weight_n or_o measure_n other_o then_o according_a to_o the_o say_a standard_n of_o the_o exchequer_n or_o shall_v upon_o reasonable_a respective_o shall_v take_v or_o receive_v of_o any_o of_o his_o majesty_n subject_n by_o colour_n of_o the_o say_a office_n any_o common_a fine_a or_o fine_n or_o any_o fee_n other_o than_o be_v former_o allow_v by_o the_o statute_n or_o statute_n or_o ancient_a custom_n in_o that_o behalf_n make_v or_o use_v shall_v take_v any_o fee_n or_o fee_n or_o other_o sum_n of_o money_n reward_n or_o consideration_n for_o the_o make_n sign_v or_o examination_n of_o any_o weight_n or_o measure_n which_o have_v be_v former_o mark_v or_o seal_v or_o shall_v impose_v or_o assess_v or_o cause_n to_o for_o the_o time_n be_v for_o the_o carry_v the_o good_n of_o his_o majesty_n his_o heir_n or_o successor_n or_o the_o say_v queen_n or_o child_n or_o any_o of_o they_o without_o such_o full_a and_o free_a consent_n as_o aforesaid_a any_o law_n statute_n custom_n or_o usage_n to_o the_o contrary_a notwithstanding_o etc._n no_o pre-emption_a to_o be_v allow_v or_o claim_v in_o behalf_n of_o the_o and_o cleanse_v all_o the_o street_n lane_n ally_n and_o public_a place_n before_o their_o respective_a house_n building_n and_o wall_n twice_o every_o wéek_v that_o be_v to_o say_v on_o every_o for_o the_o raker_n scavenger_n or_o other_o officer_n appoint_v for_o that_o purpose_n to_o carry_v away_o penalty_n the_o penalty_n for_o neglect_v thereof_o none_o to_o cast_v any_o ash_n or_o dust_n before_o their_o house_n the_o penalty_n upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v three_o shilling_n and_o four_o penny_n for_o every_o offence_n or_o neglect_n respective_o and_o that_o no_o person_n or_o his_o cart_n barrow_n or_o other_o thing_n or_o thing_n use_v for_o cleanse_v the_o street_n and_o carry_v away_o thereof_o and_o then_o shall_v carry_v or_o cause_n to_o be_v carry_v the_o say_v ash_n dust_n or_o other_o filth_n and_o annoyance_n aforesaid_a forth_o of_o their_o house_n and_o deliver_v it_o unto_o the_o say_v raker_n scavenger_n or_o officer_n or_o otherwise_o put_v the_o same_o in_o his_o cart_n barrow_n or_o other_o thing_n as_o aforesaid_a upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v the_o sum_n of_o twenty_o shilling_n for_o every_o such_o offence_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v that_o the_o respective_a churchwarden_n nobleman_n white-hall_n churchyard_n and_o house_n of_o nobleman_n the_o housekeepers_a of_o white-hall_n and_o other_o his_o majesty_n house_n housekeepers_a or_o porter_n of_o nobleman_n house_n usher_n porter_n or_o keeper_n of_o court_n of_o justice_n and_o all_o other_o public_a house_n and_o place_n respective_o shall_v be_v liable_a workhouse_n or_o work-house_n to_o be_v establish_v by_o this_o present_a act_n who_o be_v hereby_o authorize_v and_o empower_v by_o themselves_o or_o their_o officer_n thereunto_o by_o they_o depute_v to_o collect_v gather_v receive_v and_o recover_v the_o say_a money_n and_o legacy_n which_o shall_v be_v due_a and_o in_o arrear_n as_o aforesaid_a with_o which_o say_v arrear_n and_o interest_v for_o the_o execution_n of_o the_o service_n hereby_o enjoin_v they_o and_o all_o those_o that_o have_v have_v or_o now_o have_v any_o of_o the_o say_a stock_n in_o their_o or_o any_o of_o their_o hand_n shall_v be_v accountable_a to_o the_o say_a treasurer_n or_o to_o those_o that_o shall_v be_v appoint_v by_o the_o say_a corporation_n or_o corporation_n or_o any_o seven_o or_o more_o the_o time_n before_o express_v by-law_n power_n to_o make_v order_n and_o by-law_n and_o it_o be_v further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o respective_a precedent_n and_o governor_n or_o any_o seven_o of_o they_o shall_v have_v power_n from_o time_n to_o time_n to_o make_v and_o constitute_v order_n and_o by-law_n for_o the_o better_a relieve_n regulate_v and_o set_v the_o poor_a to_o work_v and_o the_o apprehend_n and_o punish_v of_o rogue_n vagabond_n and_o beggar_n within_o the_o city_n liberty_n and_o place_n aforesaid_a that_o have_v not_o wherewith_o to_o maintain_v themselves_o and_o for_o other_o the_o matter_n aforesaid_a provide_v the_o say_a order_n and_o by-law_n shall_v from_o time_n to_o time_n be_v present_v to_o the_o justice_n of_o peace_n in_o their_o quarter-session_n assemble_v to_o be_v allow_v by_o the_o major_a part_n of_o they_o and_o confirm_v by_o order_n of_o the_o say_v court_n and_o it_o be_v further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a officers_z power_n to_o choose_v and_o entertain_v officers_z that_o the_o precedent_n and_o governor_n of_o any_o of_o the_o say_a corporation_n or_o corporation_n workhouse_n or_o work-house_n or_o any_o fourtéen_n or_o more_o of_o they_o be_v assemble_v together_o shall_v have_v hereby_o power_n to_o choose_v and_o entertain_v all_o such_o officer_n and_o other_o as_o shall_v be_v needful_a to_o be_v employ_v in_o and_o about_o the_o premise_n and_o they_o or_o any_o of_o they_o from_o time_n to_o time_n to_o remove_v as_o they_o shall_v see_v cause_n and_o upon_o the_o death_n or_o removal_n of_o they_o or_o any_o of_o they_o to_o choose_v other_o in_o their_o place_n for_o the_o carry_v on_o of_o the_o work_n and_o to_o make_v and_o give_v such_o reasonable_a allowance_n unto_o they_o or_o any_o of_o they_o out_o of_o the_o stock_n and_o revenue_n belong_v to_o the_o say_a corporation_n or_o workhouse_n as_o they_o shall_v think_v fit_a and_o it_o be_v further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o all_o sheriff_n bailiff_n constable_n officer_n all_o sheriff_n etc._n etc._n to_o be_v assist_v the_o say_a corporation_n &_o their_o officer_n and_o all_o other_o officer_n and_o minister_n of_o justice_n shall_v be_v aid_v and_o assist_v to_o the_o say_a corporation_n or_o corporation_n and_o to_o all_o such_o officer_n as_o shall_v be_v employ_v by_o they_o or_o any_o of_o they_o in_o the_o execution_n or_o performance_n of_o the_o say_a service_n and_o whereas_o the_o law_n and_o statute_n for_o the_o apprehend_n of_o rogue_n and_o vagabond_n have_v not_o be_v due_o execute_v sometime_o for_o want_v of_o officer_n by_o reason_n lord_n of_o manor_n do_v not_o keep_v court_n léet_v every_o year_n for_o the_o make_n of_o they_o court-leet_n constables_z how_o make_v in_o default_n of_o hold_v court-leet_n be_v it_o therefore_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o in_o case_n any_o constable_n headborough_z or_o tithingman_n shall_v die_v or_o go_v out_o of_o the_o parish_n any_o two_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n may_v make_v and_o swear_v a_o new_a constable_n headborough_z or_o tithingman_n until_o the_o say_a lord_n shall_v hold_v a_o court_n or_o until_o next_o quarter-session_n who_o shall_v approve_v of_o the_o say_a officer_n so_o make_v and_o swear_v as_o aforesaid_a or_o appoint_v other_o as_o they_o shall_v think_v fit_a and_o if_o any_o officer_n shall_v continue_v above_o a_o year_n in_o he_o or_o their_o office_n that_o then_o in_o such_o case_n the_o sturdy_a beggar_n vagabond_n 39_o el._n cap._n 17._o 1_o jac._n cap._n 7._o apprehend_v rogue_n and_o vagabond_n the_o statute_n make_v in_o the_o nine_o and_o thirty_o year_n of_o queen_n elizabeth_n and_o first_o year_n of_o king_n james_n in_o which_o statute_n the_o constable_n headborough_z or_o tithingman_n of_o every_o parish_n that_o shall_v not_o apprehend_v such_o rogue_n vagabond_n and_o sturdy_n beggar_n which_o shall_v pass_v through_o or_o be_v find_v in_o their_o say_a parish_n unapprehend_v such_o constable_n headborough_z or_o tithingman_n shall_v forfeit_v as_o in_o the_o say_a for_o any_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n to_o who_o any_o rogue_n vagabond_n or_o sturdy_n beggar_n so_o apprehend_v shall_v be_v bring_v to_o reward_v any_o person_n or_o person_n that_o shall_v apprehend_v any_o rogue_n vagabond_n or_o sturdy_n beggar_n by_o grant_v unto_o such_o person_n or_o person_n a_o order_n or_o warrant_n under_o his_o hand_n and_o seal_n to_o the_o constable_n headborough_z or_o tithingman_n of_o such_o parish_n where_o such_o rogue_n vagabond_n or_o sturdy_a beggar_n pass_v through_o unapprehend_v require_v he_o to_o pay_v such_o person_n or_o person_n the_o sum_n of_o two_o shilling_n for_o every_o rogue_n vagabond_n or_o sturdy_a beggar_n which_o shall_v be_v so_o apprehend_v and_o if_o such_o constable_n headborough_z or_o tithingman_n refuse_v county_n unapprehend_v it_o shall_v be_v lawful_a for_o such_o person_n or_o person_n to_o go_v to_o some_o justice_n of_o peace_n of_o that_o county_n through_o which_o such_o rogue_n vagabond_n or_o sturdy_a beggar_n pass_v unapprehend_v who_o be_v hereby_o require_v upon_o a_o certificate_n under_o the_o hand_n of_o some_o justice_n of_o peace_n of_o the_o county_n where_o such_o rogue_n vagabond_n or_o sturdy_a beggar_n be_v so_o apprehend_v to_o grant_v his_o order_n or_o warrant_v under_o his_o hand_n and_o seal_n require_v the_o say_a constable_n headborough_z or_o tithingman_n to_o pay_v unto_o such_o person_n or_o person_n as_o aforesaid_a the_o sum_n of_o two_o shilling_n which_o if_o he_o shall_v refuse_v or_o neglect_v to_o do_v than_o such_o justice_n be_v hereby_o at_o length_n with_o a_o iron_n brand_n upon_o pain_n and_o penalty_n that_o every_o farmer_n or_o other_o person_n or_o person_n whatsoever_o offend_v in_o not_o put_v on_o the_o mark_n of_o such_o weight_n of_o kilderkin_n name_n and_o their_o name_n firkin_n or_o other_o cask_n after_o season_v or_o not_o set_v the_o first_o letter_n of_o he_o or_o their_o christian_a name_n and_z his_o or_o their_o surname_n at_o length_n on_o every_o firkin_n and_o cask_n as_o aforesaid_a shall_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n respective_o forfeit_v the_o sum_n of_o ten_o shilling_n for_o every_o hundred_o weight_n of_o butter_n and_o so_o proportionable_o for_o a_o great_a or_o lesser_a quantity_n that_o shall_v be_v in_o every_o such_o cask_n name_n potter_n shall_v set_v their_o weight_n of_o every_o pot_n burn_v and_o their_o name_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o every_o potter_n shall_v set_v upon_o every_o pot_n which_o he_o shall_v enact_v and_o ordain_v by_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o no_o appeal_n in_o any_o cause_n of_o excise_n whatsoever_o shall_v be_v admit_v until_o the_o party_n appellant_n shall_v have_v first_o deposit_v and_o lay_v down_o the_o single_a duty_n of_o excise_n in_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o commissioner_n farmer_n or_o sub-commissioner_n of_o excise_n within_o who_o jurisdiction_n or_o division_n the_o say_a cause_n be_v original_o hear_v and_o determine_v and_o have_v give_v security_n to_o the_o commissioner_n of_o appeal_n or_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n respective_o where_o original_o prosecute_v shall_v pay_v he_o double_a cost_v but_o in_o case_n the_o first_o judgement_n shall_v be_v affirm_v the_o party_n appeal_n shall_v pay_v the_o like_a cost_v unto_o the_o to_o the_o payment_n of_o any_o duty_n of_o excise_n for_o the_o same_o either_o by_o this_o or_o any_o the_o forementioned_a acts._n provide_v also_o and_o be_v it_o enact_v that_o all_o difference_n appeal_n and_o complaint_n that_o shall_v happen_v and_o arise_v between_o party_n and_o party_n county_n complaint_n to_o be_v determine_v in_o the_o proper_a county_n in_o order_n to_o the_o payment_n of_o the_o duty_n of_o excise_n shall_v be_v hear_v and_o determine_v in_o the_o proper_a county_n or_o in_o the_o several_a riding_n and_o division_n of_o yorkshire_n and_o lincolnshire_n where_o they_o shall_v arise_v and_o not_o elsewhere_o fe_n commissioner_n or_o farmer_n may_v take_v no_o fe_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o no_o farmer_n commissioner_n sub-commissioner_n or_o other_o officer_n of_o excise_n shall_v direct_o or_o indirect_o take_v or_o receive_v any_o money_n fee_n or_o reward_n for_o or_o concern_v the_o take_n of_o any_o bond_n or_o give_v any_o receipt_n or_o note_n in_o write_v relate_v to_o the_o excise_n to_o or_o from_o any_o person_n or_o person_n whatsoever_o upon_o pain_n that_o every_o such_o person_n so_o offend_v shall_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n forfeit_v the_o sum_n of_o ten_o shilling_n act._n who_o may_v hear_v and_o determine_v matter_n upon_o this_o act._n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n or_o any_o two_o or_o more_o of_o they_o or_o chief_a magistrate_n in_o the_o several_a county_n city_n division_n and_o place_n within_o england_n and_o wales_n respective_o shall_v meet_v once_o in_o every_o month_n in_o their_o respective_a division_n or_o often_o if_o there_o shall_v be_v occasion_n to_o hear_v determine_v and_o to_o adjudge_v all_o matter_n and_o offence_n against_o this_o or_o the_o aforesaid_a acts._n recover_v how_o the_o penalty_n upon_o this_o act_n shall_v be_v dispose_v and_o recover_v and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o one_o three_o part_n of_o all_o fine_n penalty_n and_o forfeiture_n not_o herein_o otherwise_o dispose_v shall_v be_v to_o the_o king_n majesty_n his_o heir_n and_o successor_n &_o one_o other_o three_o part_n to_o the_o poor_a of_o the_o parish_n where_o the_o offence_n shall_v be_v commit_v &_o the_o other_o three_o part_n to_o he_o that_o shall_v inform_v and_o sue_v for_o the_o same_o and_o that_o all_o fine_n penalty_n and_o forfeiture_n for_o which_o no_o remedy_n be_v ordain_v for_o cause_n of_o excise_n within_o the_o immediate_a limit_n of_o the_o chief_a office_n of_o london_n nor_o within_o the_o limit_n of_o the_o present_a farm_n of_o london_n during_o the_o continuance_n of_o such_o farm_n shall_v be_v admit_v unless_o the_o same_o be_v bring_v within_o two_o month_n next_o after_o the_o first_o judgement_n and_o notice_n thereof_o give_v or_o leave_v at_o the_o
