before_o this_o news_n be_v know_v there_o mahomet_n well_o know_v the_o soldier_n contemn_v selim_n because_o of_o his_o averseness_n to_o war_n loud_o talk_v during_o his_o father_n life_n that_o he_o be_v not_o of_o the_o ottoman_a race_n but_o that_o roxalana_n his_o mother_n pretend_v a_o big_a belly_n have_v father_v on_o solyman_n the_o child_n of_o a_o certain_a jewish_a woman_n and_o therefore_o they_o stick_v not_o to_o call_v he_o according_a to_o his_o suppose_a birth_n and_o to_o make_v this_o calumny_n pass_v the_o better_a they_o add_v he_o be_v a_o favourer_n of_o the_o jew_n who_o be_v more_o abominable_a and_o odious_a among_o the_o turk_n than_o among_o any_o other_o people_n and_o therefore_o to_o gratify_v one_o john_n miche_n a_o fugivive_v from_o spain_n for_o his_o judaisme_n he_o obtain_v of_o his_o father_n solyman_n one_o of_o the_o ancient_a city_n of_o palestine_n and_o several_a country_n round_o about_o to_o establish_v a_o colony_n of_o those_o wretched_a people_n these_o rumour_n make_v the_o great_a part_n of_o the_o army_n to_o prefer_v amurah_n a_o prince_n of_o twenty_o year_n of_o age_n who_o inclination_n be_v answerable_a to_o his_o birth_n but_o thus_o mahomet_n settle_v the_o crown_n on_o selim_n head_n without_o opposition_n and_o for_o a_o reward_n of_o this_o service_n the_o new_a emperor_n give_v he_o the_o seal_n with_o the_o quality_n of_o grand_a visier_n which_o be_v the_o first_o minister_n in_o the_o ottoman_a empire_n he_o be_v already_o his_o son-in-law_n so_o that_o selim_n commit_v the_o government_n to_o his_o care_n and_o give_v himself_o over_o to_o the_o pleasure_n and_o softness_n of_o the_o seralio_n mahomet_n be_v too_o quick-sighted_a not_o to_o perceive_v that_o a_o favour_n like_o he_o must_v draw_v on_o he_o much_o envy_n that_o prince_n oft_o change_v their_o favourite_n and_o suffer_v with_o regret_n those_o to_o who_o they_o believe_v they_o be_v much_o oblige_v respect_v they_o as_o importunate_a creditor_n they_o endeavour_v to_o get_v rid_v of_o they_o assoon_o as_o any_o specious_a pretence_n offer_v itself_o to_o colour_v their_o ingratitude_n the_o example_n of_o ibrahim_n a_o favourite_n of_o solyman_n who_o a_o sultaness_n ruin_v without_o let_v the_o world_n know_v the_o occasion_n make_v he_o wary_a and_o solicitous_a to_o strengthen_v himself_o in_o his_o high_a place_n he_o begin_v by_o free_v selim_n from_o the_o perplexity_n of_o affair_n which_o may_v disturb_v his_o pleasure_n he_o afterward_o remove_v all_o those_o who_o be_v not_o his_o friend_n from_o the_o prince_n presence_n and_o bring_v into_o their_o place_n such_o as_o be_v affectionate_a to_o his_o service_n and_o by_o this_o mean_v rule_v all_o at_o his_o will._n the_o bassa_n and_o other_o vizier_n act_v only_o by_o his_o direction_n and_o each_o of_o they_o make_v their_o court_n to_o he_o in_o the_o same_o manner_n as_o if_o he_o have_v be_v their_o emperor_n since_o the_o renew_n of_o the_o treaty_n and_o alliance_n between_o the_o port_n and_o the_o neighbour_a state_n and_o confirmation_n thereof_o between_o solyman_n and_o the_o republic_n of_o venice_n sign_v three_o year_n after_o the_o ottoman_a empire_n enjoy_v a_o profound_a peace_n the_o continuation_n of_o which_o seem_v to_o be_v last_v by_o mean_n of_o selim_n sluggish_a and_o luxurious_a humour_n but_o the_o soldier_n be_v accustom_v under_o the_o precede_a reign_n to_o pillage_n on_o the_o neighbour_a country_n tire_v with_o ease_n murmur_v at_o the_o grand_a visier_n conduct_n of_o affair_n say_v he_o abuse_v his_o interest_n in_o the_o grand_a signior_n and_o instead_o of_o bring_v he_o off_o from_o his_o debauch_n rather_o entice_v he_o to_o continue_v they_o dissuade_v he_o from_o follow_v the_o example_n of_o his_o father_n and_o grandfather_n who_o have_v conquer_v so_o many_o kingdom_n and_o carry_v their_o victorious_a arm_n to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world._n they_o add_v that_o this_o lethargy_n bring_v shame_n to_o the_o majesty_n of_o the_o ottoman_a empire_n and_o that_o the_o idleness_n wherein_o so_o many_o brave_a man_n be_v suffer_v to_o spend_v their_o day_n be_v no_o less_o dishonourable_a than_o the_o softness_n of_o their_o sovereign_n that_o his_o grandfather_n who_o name_n he_o do_v bear_v have_v not_o thus_o reign_v who_o by_o several_a conquest_n acquire_v with_o immortal_a honour_n by_o the_o entire_a defeat_n of_o the_o mameluc_n have_v make_v himself_o master_n of_o all_o egypt_n that_o the_o sultan_n be_v not_o set_v up_o to_o enjoy_v peaceable_o what_o their_o predecessor_n have_v leave_v they_o but_o to_o enlarge_v their_o empire_n by_o new_a conquest_n and_o reduce_v the_o universe_n to_o the_o mahometan_a law_n that_o it_o belong_v only_o to_o private_a person_n to_o busy_v themselves_o in_o conserve_n their_o possession_n but_o sovereign_n shall_v have_v no_o other_o end_n than_o to_o benefit_v their_o country_n that_o though_o selim_n want_v gourage_n and_o conduct_v to_o tread_v in_o his_o ancestor_n step_n yet_o ought_v he_o to_o maintain_v his_o empire_n by_o the_o same_o way_n it_o be_v establish_v and_o that_o as_o great_a motion_n and_o the_o noise_n of_o war_n keep_v man_n in_o breath_n and_o stir_v up_o valour_n and_o ambition_n so_o rest_v and_o luxury_n serve_v only_o to_o abase_v and_o depress_v they_o that_o their_o emperor_n do_v not_o get_v their_o possession_n by_o drunkenness_n and_o luxury_n but_o by_o labour_n and_o hardship_n that_o selim_n not_o content_v to_o frustrate_v they_o of_o the_o largess_n which_o the_o new_a emperor_n usual_o bestow_v on_o the_o soldiery_n at_o their_o first_o come_v to_o the_o crown_n will_v also_o deprive_v they_o of_o the_o only_a mean_n to_o itself_o dry_a to_o fill_v it_o the_o soldier_n be_v discontent_v at_o selim_n advancement_n to_o the_o empire_n and_o not_o follow_v the_o custom_n of_o distribute_v money_n among_o they_o which_o the_o sultan_n be_v wont_n to_o do_v and_o especial_o the_o janissary_n who_o be_v persuade_v that_o mahomet_n be_v the_o author_n of_o this_o retrenchment_n mustapha_n and_o piali_n who_o favour_n this_o chief_a minister_n endeavour_v to_o ruin_n secret_o entertain_v and_o cherish_v these_o complaint_n and_o murmur_n piali_n have_v be_v disgrace_v and_o throw_v out_o of_o his_o office_n but_o the_o tear_n and_o prayer_n of_o his_o wife_n regain_v his_o re-establishment_n from_o the_o emperor_n this_o princess_n father_n mustapha_n have_v be_v send_v against_o certain_a people_n who_o tomonbeius_n when_o selim_n i_o exterminate_v the_o mameluc_n mahomet_n who_o know_v the_o jealous_a temper_n of_o the_o prince_n represent_v to_o he_o this_o affair_n as_o a_o matter_n that_o require_v a_o most_o severe_a chastisement_n and_o thereupon_o oblige_v he_o to_o send_v a_o executioner_n into_o egypt_n to_o bring_v he_o mustapha_n head._n it_o be_v a_o custom_n establish_v by_o
