man_n be_v say_v to_o be_v either_o within_o or_o without_o the_o church_n now_o a_o unregenerate_a man_n a_o gentile_a without_o the_o church_n may_v have_v a_o historical_a knowledge_n of_o the_o law_n for_o say_v the_o apostle_n rom._n 2._o 14._o they_o do_v by_o nature_n the_o thing_n contain_v in_o the_o law_n but_o as_o from_o a_o old_a eat_v manuscript_n a_o man_n may_v gather_v a_o word_n or_o sentence_n or_o two_o when_o yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o find_v out_o the_o drift_n scope_n and_o end_n of_o it_o because_o through_o its_o ancientness_n it_o be_v much_o wear_v and_o perish_v in_o like_a manner_n from_o those_o old_a relic_n and_o vestigy_n of_o that_o law_n write_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o gentile_n they_o may_v discover_v some_o thing_n which_o pertain_v unto_o their_o duty_n towards_o god_n and_o their_o neighbour_n but_o then_o they_o can_v not_o know_v therefrom_o the_o intent_n of_o the_o law_n which_o be_v to_o drive_v they_o to_o a_o christ_n they_o can_v not_o know_v that_o by_o it_o they_o can_v not_o be_v justify_v they_o understand_v not_o the_o end_n and_o drift_n for_o which_o god_n write_v this_o law_n in_o their_o heart_n &_o therefore_o though_o they_o may_v have_v a_o historical_a yet_o they_o can_v not_o have_v a_o save_v knowledge_n thereof_o but_o second_o as_o for_o the_o gospel_n a_o gentile_a can_v have_v either_o a_o historical_a or_o save_a knowledge_n of_o it_o without_o it_o be_v preach_v unto_o they_o or_o by_o some_o extraordinary_a way_n unknown_a unto_o we_o infuse_v into_o they_o for_o faith_n ordinary_o that_o be_v come_v by_o hear_v and_o hear_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n therefore_o the_o opinion_n of_o those_o who_o think_v that_o by_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n a_o man_n may_v come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o gospel_n be_v to_o be_v reject_v 2._o second_o a_o christian_a unregenerate_a man_n within_o the_o church_n may_v have_v a_o historical_a contemplative_a knowledge_n of_o the_o law_n and_o gospel_n but_o not_o save_v particular_a knowledge_n of_o either_o for_o it_o be_v to_o they_o foolishness_n 1_o cor._n 2._o 14._o and_o therefore_o unto_o they_o who_o noisome_a lust_n do_v cast_v a_o mist_n and_o a_o cloud_n before_o their_o understanding_n and_o who_o interest_n and_o prejudices_fw-la against_o the_o doctrine_n of_o they_o suffer_v they_o not_o to_o behold_v their_o purity_n and_o clearness_n second_o as_o ungodly_a irregenerate_a man_n can_v have_v any_o save_a clear_a knowledge_n of_o the_o scripture_n so_o on_o the_o contrary_a godly_a regenerate_a christian_n may_v have_v it_o for_o unto_o they_o alone_o it_o be_v give_v to_o know_v the_o secret_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n but_o to_o other_o in_o parable_n that_o when_o they_o see_v they_o shall_v not_o see_v and_o when_o they_o hear_v they_o shall_v not_o understand_v and_o so_o 2_o cor._n 3_o 15_o 16._o it_o be_v say_v until_o this_o day_n when_o be_v because_o the_o church_n say_v so_o we_o say_v that_o the_o reason_n why_o we_o believe_v they_o so_o to_o be_v be_v because_o they_o be_v in_o themselves_o worthy_a of_o all_o belief_n and_o because_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n witness_v and_o seal_v unto_o our_o spirit_n that_o they_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n now_o whether_o the_o witness_n of_o man_n or_o the_o witness_n of_o god_n light_a and_o gold_n be_v gold_n by_o their_o own_o quality_n and_o lustre_n without_o any_o man_n tell_v of_o we_o that_o they_o be_v so_o beside_o if_o they_o be_v as_o they_o confess_v of_o divine_a authority_n in_o themselves_o by_o what_o law_n then_o can_v their_o church_n usurp_v authority_n over_o they_o unless_o as_o needs_o it_o must_v come_v to_o pass_v they_o account_v the_o authority_n of_o their_o church_n above_o that_o of_o god_n and_o so_o become_v no_o less_o blasphemer_n then_o absurd_a 2._o i_o say_v that_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n in_o esse_fw-la that_o the_o record_n or_o writing_n of_o a_o king_n do_v receive_v authority_n from_o their_o notary_n or_o register_n because_o he_o keep_v they_o second_o the_o church_n may_v discern_v and_o judge_v between_o true_a and_o false_a suppositition_n scripture_n and_o that_o by_o examine_v they_o according_a to_o the_o original_a canon_n and_o platform_n of_o moses_n his_o law_n for_o my_o
