that_o he_o can_v assign_v no_o other_o reason_n for_o it_o but_o the_o marvellous_a corruption_n of_o our_o nature_n which_o incline_v we_o to_o be_v god_n etc._n etc._n when_o yet_o he_o know_v that_o they_o that_o be_v for_o the_o change_n of_o the_o seven_o into_o the_o first-day-sabbath_n have_v give_v he_o many_o reason_n and_o good_a scriptural_a ground_n and_o argument_n which_o do_v reason_n be_v man_n corruption_n pride_n and_o rebellion_n whereas_o he_o can_v but_o know_v that_o many_o of_o those_o who_o in_o doctrine_n and_o practice_n admit_v of_o this_o change_n be_v as_o free_v from_o these_o vice_n and_o have_v as_o much_o mortify_v they_o as_o himself_o and_o be_v as_o eminent_a for_o holiness_n and_o humility_n and_o obedience_n to_o god_n as_o any_o sabbatarian_n can_v pretend_v to_o be_v and_o their_o earnestness_n for_o the_o first_o day_n do_v not_o spring_n from_o the_o looseness_n of_o other_o thereon_o nor_o main_o and_o chief_o from_o their_o education_n and_o custom_n but_o because_o they_o know_v it_o be_v not_o moral_a as_o other_o part_n and_o appendix_n of_o the_o ten_o commandment_n be_v not_o and_o therefore_o not_o confirm_v by_o primary_o moral_a and_o by_o christ_n confirm_v as_o well_o as_o all_o the_o other_o command_v which_o be_v undeniable_o so_o whence_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v that_o in_o all_o his_o sermon_n and_o discourse_n that_o he_o make_v to_o the_o jew_n about_o the_o moral_a law_n he_o do_v not_o so_o much_o as_o ever_o mention_v the_o sabbath_n to_o his_o hearer_n either_o by_o way_n of_o recommendation_n of_o it_o to_o they_o or_o commend_v of_o they_o for_o their_o zeal_n for_o it_o and_o tthe_v strict_a observance_n of_o it_o nor_o yet_o command_v of_o its_o observance_n or_o teach_v they_o how_o they_o shall_v keep_v and_o sanctify_v it_o according_a to_o its_o first_o institution_n see_v it_o be_v clear_a that_o he_o in_o his_o discourse_n do_v particularize_v every_o other_o duty_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n and_o exhort_v and_o require_v obedience_n thereto_o in_o all_o his_o most_o copious_a and_o glorious_a sermon_n upon_o the_o mount_n where_o he_o explain_v religious_a and_o acceptable_a observance_n of_o the_o seventh-day-sabbath_n consist_v there_o be_v not_o the_o least_o word_n appertain_v hereunto_o utter_v by_o he_o only_o a_o vindication_n of_o shall_v fancy_v that_o commenius_n when_o he_o exhort_v to_o a_o reformation_n of_o the_o government_n doctrine_n worship_n and_o practice_n of_o the_o church_n according_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o the_o pattern_n in_o the_o mount_n shall_v mean_v as_o one_o if_o not_o the_o chy_a of_o those_o particular_n the_o removal_n of_o the_o first-day-sabbath_n and_o the_o reversion_n of_o the_o seven_o day_n in_o lieu_n thereof_o when_o he_o know_v that_o all_o the_o divine_n and_o doctor_n that_o be_v orthodox_n and_o his_o adversary_n in_o this_o opinion_n prescribe_v the_o same_o rule_n for_o the_o reformation_n and_o call_v upon_o those_o in_o authority_n to_o subserviate_v all_o their_o own_o law_n ecclesiastical_a and_o civil_a to_o a_o observance_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o of_o christ_n and_o commenius_n himself_o in_o his_o practice_n and_o in_o his_o own_o church_n be_v a_o observer_n and_o sanctifier_n of_o the_o first-day-sabbath_n as_o he_o here_o which_o he_o have_v nothing_o direct_o and_o particular_o but_o only_a hint_n the_o difference_n of_o opinion_n about_o the_o change_n of_o the_o day_n but_o all_o save_o one_o do_v agree_v that_o the_o sanctification_n of_o the_o seven_o day_n be_v as_o much_o abrogate_a in_o the_o gospel_n and_o the_o lord_n day_n establish_v in_o its_o stead_n as_o any_o of_o the_o ceremony_n of_o the_o old_a administration_n be_v and_o i_o think_v we_o may_v challenge_v he_o to_o produce_v any_o one_o express_a command_n for_o the_o abolish_n of_o any_o one_o of_o the_o jewish_a ceremony_n or_o of_o abolition_n of_o these_o without_o a_o express_a command_n and_o why_o not_o of_o this_o let_v he_o bring_v his_o argument_n from_o scripture_n for_o the_o abrogation_n of_o any_o of_o they_o and_o i_o do_v very_o believe_v we_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o use_v the_o very_a same_o for_o the_o exclusion_n of_o the_o seven_o day_n i_o know_v not_o any_o one_o

have_v be_v now_o the_o consecrate_a day_n of_o the_o week_n and_o so_o have_v have_v more_o time_n and_o leisure_n with_o they_o for_o his_o work_n and_o not_o have_v so_o straighten_a himself_o or_o incommode_v they_o throughout_o a_o whole_a night_n but_o becaust_n the_o lord_n day_n be_v the_o sacred_a day_n of_o the_o week_n to_o be_v observe_v and_o keep_v therefore_o he_o will_v defer_v it_o till_o then_o though_o to_o his_o own_o and_o their_o great_a inconvenience_n here_o we_o have_v a_o conjecture_n somewhat_o strange_a viz._n that_o the_o apostle_n keep_v the_o seven_o day_n at_o troas_n what_o be_v it_o alone_o by_o himself_o and_o without_o any_o other_o with_o he_o as_o a_o private_a person_n and_o not_o as_o a_o apostle_n and_o then_o will_v keep_v the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n as_o a_o apostle_n and_o with_o the_o assembly_n of_o believer_n doubtless_o st._n paul_n be_v no_o such_o dissembler_n on_o one_o hand_n nor_o superstitious_a bigot_n on_o the_o other_o to_o observe_v two_o sabbath_n in_o the_o week_n one_o by_o himself_o and_o another_o with_o the_o church_n when_o god_n command_v but_o one_o only_a but_o he_o seem_v to_o do_v all_o he_o can_v to_o turn_v the_o first_o day_n into_o the_o seven_o and_o to_o persuade_v we_o that_o the_o assembly_n of_o the_o disciple_n be_v begin_v on_o the_o last_o day_n of_o the_o week_n and_o continue_v some_o time_n of_o the_o first_o whereas_o the_o text_n express_o tell_v we_o they_o come_v together_o on_o the_o first_o day_n and_o so_o continue_v together_o the_o first_o day_n till_o its_o conclusion_n in_o the_o second_o day_n morning_n here_o he_o take_v no_o notice_n at_o all_o or_o to_o no_o purpose_n that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n tell_v we_o express_o that_o paul_n abide_v seven_o day_n at_o their_o religious_a convention_n and_o the_o seven_o day_n antiquate_v and_o no_o more_o to_o be_v mention_v and_o observe_v among_o christian_n as_o such_o a_o day_n what_o follow_v have_v be_v if_o i_o mistake_v not_o satisfactory_o answer_v already_o it_o be_v well_o he_o recede_v from_o and_o stand_v not_o much_o upon_o the_o greek_a word_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d to_o be_v interpete_v one_o for_o he_o know_v that_o in_o both_o the_o sacred_a language_n the_o numerical_a word_n be_v frequent_o use_v for_o the_o ordinal_n and_o if_o we_o shall_v render_v this_o word_n here_o one_o it_o will_v make_v the_o language_n of_o the_o scripture_n very_o impertinent_a and_o uncertain_a it_o will_v be_v impertinent_a and_o superfluous_a because_o if_o it_o be_v upon_o any_o day_n it_o must_v be_v upon_o one_o day_n of_o the_o week_n for_o there_o be_v no_o day_n that_o be_v not_o one_o of_o the_o week_n and_o what_o need_v the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o tell_v we_o that_o be_v which_o we_o be_v sure_o can_v not_o but_o be_v and_o it_o will_v be_v uncertain_a and_o dubious_a for_o according_a to_o this_o meaning_n we_o can_v never_o know_v what_o day_n of_o the_o week_n this_o religious_a congregation_n meet_v whether_o on_o the_o first_o or_o second_o or_o three_o or_o four_o etc._n etc._n and_o the_o expression_n seem_v to_o hint_n that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n will_v acquaint_v we_o with_o the_o particular_a day_n thereof_o but_o such_o a_o uncertain_a translation_n will_v great_o befriend_v this_o author_n for_o than_o he_o may_v more_o confident_o suppose_v it_o to_o be_v the_o seven_o day_n see_v that_o now_o when_o the_o spirit_n clear_o assert_v it_o be_v upon_o the_o first_o day_n he_o do_v persuade_v himself_o and_o will_v persuade_v we_o that_o it_o be_v upon_o the_o seven_o what_o follow_v after_o be_v conjecture_n and_o consequence_n draw_v from_o his_o former_a weak_a premise_n i_o shall_v say_v nothing_o more_o to_o they_o sect_n fourteen_o jew_n for_o when_o they_o blame_v he_o as_o a_o tolerator_n of_o the_o profanation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n by_o his_o disciple_n he_o take_v a_o double_a medium_fw-la to_o refute_v their_o slander_n the_o one_o as_o a_o doctor_n and_o prophet_n of_o the_o church_n and_o so_o he_o teach_v they_o that_o that_o charitable_a action_n of_o they_o towards_o their_o own_o nature_n be_v no_o breach_n especial_o at_o i_o as_o though_o their_o and_o i_o action_n be_v profanation_n of_o the_o sabbath_n but_o i_o will_v have_v you_o to_o know_v that_o i_o have_v a_o sovereignty_n over_o it_o and_o
