lover_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o her_o husband_n and_o like_o absalon_n pitch_v a_o pavilion_n even_o at_o noon_n day_n upon_o the_o top_n of_o the_o house_n that_o he_o may_v be_v see_v of_o all_o man_n this_o be_v the_o height_n of_o sin_n when_o as_o man_n do_v not_o only_o consent_v unto_o it_o but_o also_o act_v it_o not_o in_o a_o corner_n but_o in_o the_o face_n of_o the_o world_n not_o as_o blush_v and_o be_v ashamed_a at_o it_o but_o impudent_o defend_v it_o boast_v and_o glory_v in_o their_o wickedness_n and_o as_o it_o be_v the_o height_n of_o sin_n so_o it_o shall_v be_v plague_v with_o the_o height_n of_o punishment_n even_o with_o the_o divorce_n and_o separation_n from_o god_n and_o therefore_o let_v all_o that_o will_v be_v god_n spouse_n above_o all_o other_o in_o some_o measure_n and_o that_o to_o this_o end_n that_o they_o may_v remain_v with_o she_o as_o pledge_n of_o his_o love_n not_o altogether_o as_o yet_o extinguish_v and_o as_o undoubted_a argument_n to_o assure_v she_o that_o as_o he_o have_v not_o divorce_v she_o for_o any_o hatred_n of_o her_o person_n but_o for_o her_o sin_n so_o if_o she_o will_v repent_v of_o they_o he_o will_v be_v ready_a to_o receive_v she_o again_o into_o his_o former_a love_n and_o favour_n but_o because_o she_o abuse_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o continue_v in_o her_o impenitency_n therefore_o he_o threaten_v that_o unless_o she_o will_v serious_o repent_v of_o her_o sin_n he_o will_v not_o only_o divorce_v she_o but_o also_o strip_v and_o spoil_v she_o of_o all_o those_o his_o gift_n and_o benefit_n which_o he_o have_v bestow_v upon_o she_o and_o which_o as_o yet_o she_o enjoy_v wherein_o the_o lord_n allude_v to_o the_o behaviour_n of_o kind_a husband_n who_o have_v put_v away_o their_o wife_n for_o their_o whoredom_n do_v notwithstanding_o allow_v unto_o they_o liberal_a maintenance_n with_o which_o benefit_n when_o they_o be_v not_o restrain_v from_o their_o sin_n and_o bring_v to_o amendment_n but_o rather_o abuse_v their_o gift_n as_o mean_n to_o further_o they_o in_o 17_o ezech._n 16._o 16._o 17_o their_o uncleanness_n and_o by_o bestow_v they_o on_o their_o lover_n they_o threaten_v to_o strip_v and_o spoil_v they_o of_o all_o those_o benefit_n which_o they_o enjoy_v and_o to_o leave_v they_o destitute_a of_o all_o maintenance_n as_o though_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v although_o upon_o your_o divorce_n just_o cause_v by_o your_o whoredom_n i_o may_v also_o have_v deprive_v you_o of_o all_o my_o benefit_n which_o i_o have_v bestow_v upon_o you_o yet_o such_o have_v be_v my_o mercy_n that_o i_o have_v spare_v you_o hitherto_o and_o suffer_v you_o to_o enjoy_v they_o in_o hope_n of_o your_o amendment_n but_o do_v not_o continue_v to_o abuse_v you_o of_o all_o my_o benefit_n which_o as_o yet_o you_o enjoy_v and_o leave_v you_o as_o naked_a and_o beggar_o as_o you_o be_v when_o i_o first_o take_v you_o in_o marriage_n now_o the_o benefit_n which_o the_o lord_n threaten_v to_o spoil_v the_o people_n of_o israel_n of_o be_v either_o temporal_a and_o corporal_a or_o else_o spiritual_a
thankfulness_n of_o the_o faithful_a yea_o in_o truth_n so_o much_o our_o joy_n and_o thankfulness_n shall_v exceed_v they_o as_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o benefit_n of_o our_o spiritual_a deliverance_n out_o of_o the_o miserable_a captivity_n of_o sin_n and_o satan_n exceed_v the_o deliverance_n of_o the_o israelite_n out_o of_o the_o bondage_n of_o egypt_n we_o must_v then_o rejoice_v and_o be_v as_o thankful_a as_o those_o aught_o to_o be_v who_o have_v pass_v from_o death_n to_o life_n from_o the_o great_a misery_n to_o the_o high_a happiness_n and_o be_v exalt_v from_o be_v than_o shall_v she_o in_o love_n and_o thankfulness_n show_v herself_o zealous_a in_o offer_v unto_o god_n his_o pure_a worship_n and_o in_o abolish_n all_o relic_n of_o idolatry_n the_o duty_n which_o the_o lord_n promise_v she_o shall_v perform_v be_v that_o she_o shall_v call_v he_o ishi_n that_o be_v my_o husband_n where_o the_o lord_n allude_v to_o the_o covenant_n which_o be_v make_v between_o he_o and_o his_o church_n wherein_o the_o lord_n promise_v that_o she_o shall_v be_v his_o spouse_n and_o she_o promise_v that_o she_o will_v acknowledge_v the_o lord_n alone_o to_o be_v her_o husband_n and_o perform_v all_o duty_n of_o a_o wife_n unto_o he_o as_o though_o he_o shall_v say_v howsoever_o in_o former_a time_n thou_o have_v run_v after_o thy_o lover_n yet_o when_o i_o church_n shall_v not_o only_o internal_o worship_v the_o lord_n as_o her_o only_a husband_n in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n but_o also_o that_o she_o shall_v outward_o make_v profession_n hereof_o which_o be_v imply_v in_o that_o he_o say_v she_o shall_v call_v he_o husband_n and_o not_o only_o acknowledge_v he_o so_o to_o be_v in_o her_o heart_n and_o mind_n and_o this_o be_v the_o first_o duty_n which_o the_o lord_n promise_v that_o the_o church_n shall_v perform_v the_o other_o be_v that_o as_o she_o shall_v be_v careful_a to_o advance_v his_o pure_a worship_n so_o she_o shall_v show_v the_o like_a zeal_n in_o abolish_n all_o relic_n of_o idolatry_n signify_v in_o these_o word_n and_o thou_o shall_v call_v i_o no_o more_o baali_n or_o o_o my_o baal_n that_o be_v as_o i_o will_v not_o have_v thou_o to_o join_v idol_n with_o i_o in_o my_o worship_n so_o i_o will_v not_o have_v thou_o to_o worship_n and_o call_v upon_o i_o in_o a_o idol_n or_o after_o a_o idolatrous_a manner_n but_o in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n pure_o &_o sincere_o where_o the_o lord_n show_v first_o that_o the_o church_n shall_v not_o only_o worship_v he_o but_o also_o that_o she_o shall_v worship_v he_o alone_o and_o renounce_v all_o her_o idol_n and_o false_a god_n second_o that_o she_o shall_v not_o worship_v he_o after_o a_o idolatrous_a manner_n in_o image_n and_o idol_n as_o it_o be_v the_o manner_n of_o the_o israelite_n who_o worship_v god_n in_o the_o idol_n baal_n as_o appear_v in_o this_o place_n but_o shall_v come_v unto_o he_o immediate_o and_o not_o by_o a_o substitute_n or_o inferior_a patron_n and_o call_v upon_o he_o who_o be_v a_o spirit_n spiritual_o and_o not_o in_o a_o image_n but_o the_o image_n of_o baal_n be_v abolish_v why_o will_v not_o the_o lord_n be_v call_v upon_o by_o the_o name_n of_o baal_n see_v it_o signify_v a_o god_n lord_n or_o patron_n and_o sometime_o also_o a_o husband_n as_o well_o as_o ish_n i_o answer_v the_o lord_n will_v be_v call_v ish_n covenant_n be_v reconcile_v to_o his_o church_n and_o be_v now_o become_v most_o love_a and_o gracious_a unto_o she_o the_o second_o cause_n which_o i_o take_v to_o be_v the_o more_o principal_a be_v that_o he_o may_v hereby_o show_v his_o detestation_n of_o idolatry_n in_o that_o he_o will_v not_o endure_v to_o be_v call_v by_o the_o name_n of_o a_o idol_n though_o otherwise_o good_a in_o it_o own_o signification_n and_o this_o his_o detestation_n he_o further_o show_v when_o as_o he_o say_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o far_o from_o worship_v idol_n or_o he_o in_o they_o that_o they_o enrich_v themselves_o by_o the_o sin_n of_o other_o i_o say_v when_o as_o man_n desire_v the_o fall_n of_o their_o neighbour_n for_o their_o own_o advantage_n otherwise_o it_o be_v lawful_a for_o be_v contain_v in_o his_o church_n but_o will_v leap_v over_o unto_o their_o idol_n and_o false_a god_n he_o will_v provide_v a_o hedge_n and_o a_o wall_n to_o keep_v they_o in_o now_o this_o hedge_n benefit_n second_o we_o may_v here_o observe_v that_o howsoever_o the_o lord_n cross_n god_n mingle_v benefit_n with_o cross_n give_v unto_o the_o faithful_a plenty_n of_o vineyard_n &_o the_o valley_n of_o anchor_n that_o be_v innumerable_a benefit_n both_o spiritual_a and_o temporal_a yet_o not_o without_o the_o mixture_n of_o many_o cross_n and_o calamity_n for_o as_o long_o as_o we_o be_v in_o this_o life_n our_o prosperity_n be_v mingle_v with_o affliction_n our_o joy_n with_o sorrow_n and_o so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v but_o in_o the_o border_n of_o our_o heavenly_a canaan_n this_o valley_n of_o pleasure_n shall_v be_v unto_o we_o also_o anchor_n that_o be_v the_o valley_n of_o trouble_n partly_o in_o regard_n of_o our_o treacherous_a flesh_n which_o be_v allure_v with_o
