grant_v to_o have_v forsake_v and_o continue_v wilful_o in_o separation_n from_o the_o roman_a church_n if_o it_o may_v but_o appear_v that_o either_o that_o be_v guilty_a of_o any_o one_o error_n our_o matter_n in_o hand_n and_o perfect_o unnecessary_a to_o the_o defence_n of_o our_o church_n from_o schism_n i_o may_v discover_v far_o many_o infirm_a part_n in_o this_o procedure_n i_o shall_v but_o brief_o touch_v on_o some_o of_o they_o num._n 11_o 1._o for_o the_o truth_n of_o that_o proposition_n that_o a_o congregation_n that_o can_v lie_v i._n e._n a_o church_n that_o be_v fallible_a and_o know_v not_o i._n e._n have_v no_o infallible_a certainty_n whether_o it_o lie_v or_o no_o in_o any_o proposition_n can_v have_v power_n to_o bind_v any_o to_o believe_v what_o shesaith_o i_o may_v certain_o affirm_v 1._o that_o this_o be_v no_o infallible_a truth_n be_v no_o where_o affirm_v by_o any_o infallible_a speaker_n or_o deduce_v from_o any_o infallible_a principle_n for_o as_o to_o the_o scripture_n it_o be_v not_o pretend_v to_o be_v affirm_v by_o that_o and_o for_o natural_a reason_n that_o can_v be_v a_o infallible_a judge_n in_o this_o matter_n of_o define_v what_o power_n may_v be_v or_o be_v by_o god_n give_v to_o a_o church_n without_o define_v it_o infallible_a a_o prince_n may_v no_o doubt_n be_v impower_v by_o god_n
it_o for_o what_o injustice_n or_o tyranny_n etc._n etc._n can_v it_o be_v in_o any_o lawful_a superior_a have_v define_v what_o very_o he_o believe_v to_o be_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n and_o no_o way_n doubt_n of_o his_o have_v deduce_v it_o right_o from_o the_o scripture_n but_o yet_o know_v that_o he_o as_o a_o man_n be_v fallible_a and_o that_o it_o be_v possible_a he_o may_v have_v some_o way_n fail_v in_o this_o as_o in_o any_o other_o his_o most_o circumspect_a action_n what_o injustice_n i_o say_v can_v it_o be_v authoritative_o to_o direct_v this_o definition_n to_o those_o who_o be_v commit_v to_o his_o charge_n and_o expect_v their_o due_a submission_n to_o it_o mean_v by_o submission_n what_o i_o have_v here_o express_v to_o mean_v by_o it_o num._n 24_o so_o again_o it_o appear_v of_o the_o roman_a church_n how_o far_o it_o be_v from_o gentle_a or_o charitable_a in_o they_o to_o bind_v man_n to_o profess_v as_o matter_n of_o faith_n whatsoever_o be_v by_o that_o have_v frame_v to_o himself_o in_o this_o place_n whether_o a_o fallible_a church_n may_v have_v power_n to_o bind_v any_o to_o believe_v what_o she_o say_v but_o i_o suppose_v by_o some_o indication_n that_o the_o latter_a be_v it_o and_o then_o as_o from_o hence_o i_o learn_v what_o he_o mean_v by_o infallible_a a_o church_n that_o can_v possible_o err_v all_o who_o definition_n be_v such_o quibus_fw-la nequit_fw-la subesse_fw-la falsum_fw-la so_o until_o this_o be_v prove_v of_o that_o church_n i_o must_v be_v allow_v to_o speak_v like_o one_o who_o think_v not_o myself_o oblige_v to_o the_o belief_n of_o it_o and_o be_v sure_a of_o this_o that_o a_o protestant_n be_v or_o may_v be_v very_o persuade_v of_o some_o truth_n against_o which_o the_o roman_a church_n bind_v to_o profession_n of_o error_n mean_v by_o very_o persuade_v such_o a_o certainty_n only_o cui_fw-la non_fw-la subest_fw-la dubium_fw-la he_o have_v no_o doubt_n nor_o reason_n to_o induce_v doubt_v of_o it_o i_o can_v imagine_v how_o that_o part_n of_o my_o discourse_n wherein_o i_o have_v suppose_v or_o assert_v this_o can_v be_v either_o superfluous_a unnecessary_a or_o whatever_o other_o weakness_n it_o be_v guilty_a of_o contrary_a to_o myself_o for_o certain_o i_o that_o think_v i_o be_o fallible_a may_v yet_o very_o believe_v without_o all_o doubt_n the_o truth_n of_o many_o proposition_n which_o if_o i_o shall_v affirm_v myself_o not_o to_o believe_v i_o must_v doubtless_o lie_v and_o then_o sin_n by_o mr._n knot_n be_v former_a concession_n and_o it_o be_v as_o certain_a on_o the_o other_o side_n that_o he_o that_o pretend_v to_o have_v a_o infallible_a rule_n may_v yet_o foul_o mistake_v both_o in_o that_o general_a original_a and_o in_o many_o other_o particular_a derivative_a pretension_n his_o suppose_a infallibility_n if_o it_o be_v not_o right_o suppose_v and_o till_o it_o be_v prove_v it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o will_v be_v so_o far_o from_o without_o dissemble_v and_o lie_v we_o can_v undergo_v it_o be_v in_o vain_a to_o speak_v of_o motive_n or_o obligation_n to_o return_v to_o their_o communion_n we_o that_o be_v bind_v as_o much_o as_o in_o we_o lie_v to_o have_v peace_n with_o all_o man_n must_v not_o admit_v any_o know_v or_o wilful_a sin_n in_o order_n to_o that_o most_o desirable_a end_n and_o this_o one_o thing_n as_o alone_o it_o be_v pertinent_a to_o the_o matter_n in_o hand_n that_o of_o schism_n so_o it_o be_v necessary_o the_o conclude_v of_o this_o controversy_n we_o that_o be_v not_o permit_v to_o return_v and_o so_o we_o be_v if_o the_o condition_n of_o our_o return_n be_v so_o encumber_v as_o to_o include_v sin_n can_v with_o any_o justice_n or_o equity_n be_v charge_v for_o not_o return_v num._n 28_o against_o this_o here_o be_v nothing_o say_v any_o far_a than_o the_o bare_a mention_n of_o the_o three_o other_o advantage_n on_o their_o side_n and_o none_o of_o these_o be_v of_o any_o force_n to_o persuade_v our_o return_n upon_o such_o condition_n as_o these_o much_o less_o to_o exact_v it_o as_o duty_n from_o we_o num._n 29_o by_o antiquity_n and_o possession_n as_o here_o they_o be_v speak_v of_o i_o be_o apt_a to_o suppose_v he_o mean_v not_o antiquity_n of_o the_o roman_a church_n or_o the_o present_a doctrine_n and_o therefore_o i_o shall_v not_o speak_v of_o they_o but_o the_o antiquity_n of_o our_o communion_n with_o they_o if_o he_o mean_v a_o possession_n in_o the_o belief_n of_o the_o pope_n universal_a pastorship_n i_o shall_v have_v occasion_n to_o speak_v of_o that_o 1_o hereafter_o and_o if_o this_o be_v grant_v as_o for_o fraternal_a communion_n and_o such_o as_o be_v due_a from_o one_o sister_n church_n to_o another_o it_o be_v willing_o grant_v than_o this_o will_v divolve_v the_o blame_n on_o those_o who_o be_v guilty_a of_o this_o breach_n who_o have_v cast_v we_o out_o and_o permit_v we_o no_o way_n of_o return_v with_o a_o good_a conscience_n and_o so_o this_o be_v little_a for_o the_o romanist_n advantage_n num._n 30_o but_o if_o in_o stead_n of_o fraternal_a communion_n it_o be_v subjection_n to_o the_o roman_a see_v that_o be_v by_o his_o word_n claim_v and_o pretend_v to_o by_o possession_n then_o as_o we_o willing_o grant_v to_o that_o see_v all_o that_o the_o ancient_a canon_n allow_v to_o it_o and_o so_o can_v in_o that_o respect_n offend_v against_o antiquity_n so_o what_o contrary_a to_o those_o canon_n they_o have_v at_o any_o time_n assume_v and_o unlawful_o possess_v themselves_o of_o can_v no_o way_n be_v pretend_v to_o be_v their_o right_n or_o they_o to_o be_v bonae_fw-la fidei_fw-la possessores_fw-la true_a or_o fair_a possessor_n of_o it_o which_o qualification_n and_o condition_n be_v yet_o absolute_o necessary_a to_o found_v their_o plea_n from_o possession_n and_o which_o alone_o can_v bear_v any_o proportion_n with_o that_o which_o king_n can_v show_v for_o their_o crown_n or_o proprietary_n charity_n which_o be_v very_o much_o beside_o the_o principle_n of_o those_o protestant_n who_o pretend_v so_o much_o to_o the_o authority_n of_o counsel_n i_o think_v he_o shall_v have_v remember_v there_o may_v be_v schism_n against_o conciliatory_a authority_n whether_o this_o be_v call_v so_o when_o the_o council_n actual_o sit_v or_o in_o the_o unanimity_n of_o belief_n in_o the_o dispersion_n of_o the_o church_n so_o that_o the_o doctor_n suppose_v he_o conclude_v against_o the_o pope_n have_v not_o conclude_v himself_o no_o schismatic_n be_v separate_v form_n the_o catholic_n it_o shall_v yet_o be_v think_v seasonable_a to_o reply_v that_o we_o have_v break_v off_o from_o the_o whole_a church_n of_o god_n num._n 6_o be_v not_o that_o whole_a make_v up_o of_o these_o several_n as_o a_o body_n of_o limb_n the_o universal_a of_o particular_n and_o can_v the_o hand_n be_v break_v off_o from_o the_o whole_a body_n when_o it_o be_v not_o break_v off_o but_o remain_v in_o perfect_a union_n with_o every_o part_n of_o the_o body_n if_o the_o arm_n be_v break_v from_o the_o body_n the_o hand_n which_o remain_v unite_v to_o the_o arm_n may_v yet_o be_v separate_a from_o the_o whole_a body_n because_o by_o be_v fasten_v to_o the_o arm_n it_o be_v unite_v but_o to_o one_o and_o not_o to_o all_o the_o member_n of_o the_o body_n but_o a_o union_n to_o all_o the_o member_n of_o the_o body_n suppose_v a_o separation_n from_o no_o one_o part_n that_o remain_v in_o the_o body_n and_o sure_a that_o must_v be_v a_o union_n with_o the_o whole_a body_n which_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o all_o the_o member_n together_o num._n 7_o and_o so_o as_o his_o second_o thought_n be_v effect_n not_o remedy_n of_o his_o forgetfulness_n the_o very_a same_o which_o he_o have_v mention_v before_o under_o the_o style_n of_o separation_n from_o the_o catholic_n world_n so_o certain_o they_o be_v again_o effect_n of_o his_o inobservance_n that_o his_o principal_a sort_n there_o assemble_v divolve_v upon_o this_o assembly_n compound_v of_o all_o of_o they_o the_o despise_v thereof_o be_v the_o despise_n of_o these_o ecclesiastical_a superior_n of_o the_o whole_a
