none_o more_o then_o with_o the_o consideration_n of_o myself_o for_o look_v into_o my_o own_o hart_n i_o do_v from_o the_o bottom_n thereof_o protest_v so_o sinful_a base_a contemptible_a and_o every_o way_n so_o weak_a a_o wretch_n as_o i_o be_o to_o be_v the_o unfit_a instrument_n under_o heaven_n to_o deal_v in_o so_o weighty_a a_o cause_n it_o come_v into_o my_o mind_n that_o the_o your_o government_n which_o you_o shall_v have_v withstand_v he_o will_v enter_v in_o to_o judgmnt_v with_o you_o for_o the_o punishment_n that_o be_v likely_a to_o fall_v upon_o they_o because_o you_o have_v countenance_v and_o free_o priveleadge_v they_o by_o law_n to_o provoke_v his_o wrath_n in_o that_o grevous_a sort_n against_o their_o own_o soul_n he_o will_v alsoe_o it_o be_v to_o be_v fear_v enter_v into_o judgement_n with_o the_o whole_a land_n for_o this_o your_o sin_n and_o make_v his_o sword_n drink_v with_o the_o blood_n of_o our_o slay_a man_n yea_o he_o will_v give_v the_o whole_a kingdom_n high_a &_o and_z low_a into_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o enemy_n that_o be_v cruel_a and_o skilful_a to_o destroy_v that_o all_o the_o nation_n under_o heaven_n profess_v religion_n may_v fear_v and_o take_v heed_n how_o they_o do_v not_o only_o deny_v to_o be_v govern_v by_o the_o law_n of_o his_o son_n jesus_n christ_n but_o which_o be_v more_o grievous_a in_o stead_n thereof_o establish_v such_o institution_n as_o be_v direct_o against_o his_o majesty_n reveal_v will_n if_o those_o thing_n be_v not_o likely_a to_o fall_v upon_o we_o except_o the_o above_o mention_v the_o cause_n of_o god_n hear_v with_o out_o partiality_n than_o indeed_o be_v it_o their_o part_n to_o set_v down_o for_o the_o direction_n of_o the_o parliament_n such_o thing_n as_o be_v behooveful_a for_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o the_o good_a of_o his_o church_n &_o the_o parliament_n by_o their_o direction_n according_a to_o the_o word_n aught_o to_o enjoin_v all_o the_o minister_n and_o people_n whatsoever_o shall_v be_v thus_o enact_v by_o the_o civil_a state_n and_o if_o the_o convocatition_n house_n be_v such_o a_o assembly_n than_o be_v it_o not_o lawful_a for_o the_o parliament_n to_o establish_v any_o thing_n in_o the_o matter_n apertaininge_v unto_o the_o pure_a worship_n of_o god_n among_o their_o people_n but_o that_o wherein_o they_o shall_v be_v direct_v by_o the_o advice_n of_o the_o church_n governor_n for_o as_o in_o a_o christian_n common_a wealth_n where_o the_o civil_a state_n sincere_o favour_v the_o true_a worship_n of_o the_o lord_n it_o be_v not_o tolerable_a no_o not_o for_o the_o right_n and_o lawful_a muchlesse_a say_v the_o usurp_a tiranical_a governor_n of_o the_o church_n establish_v any_o thing_n in_o the_o church_n but_o by_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o christian_n magistrate_n so_o where_o there_o be_v godly_a wise_a and_o sincere_a minister_n it_o be_v unlawful_a for_o the_o civil_a governor_n to_o order_v any_o thing_n in_o the_o church_n within_o his_o domminion_n but_o by_o their_o direction_n according_a to_o the_o word_n so_o that_o i_o do_v not_o deny_v but_o that_o the_o convocation_n house_n be_v a_o assembly_n of_o true_a and_o lawful_a church_n officer_n you_o ought_v to_o use_v their_o advice_n and_o direction_n how_o the_o want_n of_o the_o church_n may_v be_v supply_v but_o you_o shall_v not_o permit_v they_o to_o enact_v what_o they_o will_v by_o their_o own_o authority_n especial_o their_o decree_n be_v as_o now_o they_o be_v to_o the_o ratify_n of_o corruption_n and_o to_o the_o continuance_n of_o ungodly_a calling_n within_o these_o dominion_n and_o if_o you_o mean_v to_o give_v over_o your_o right_n in_o deal_v with_o the_o case_n of_o god_n unto_o the_o convocation_n house_n to_o what_o end_n shall_v the_o state_n of_o the_o land_n meet_v together_o in_o parliament_n be_v ever_o again_o sue_v unto_o but_o alas_o that_o any_o thing_n in_o church_n cause_n shall_v be_v refer_v unto_o that_o assembly_n which_o will_v not_o stand_v as_o it_o do_v if_o there_o wear_v that_o good_a order_n in_o the_o church_n which_o the_o lord_n require_v and_o and_o as_o long_o as_o it_o do_v stand_v must_v needs_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o disorder_n therein_o and_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o mean_n of_o continue_v that_o starve_a ignoranuce_n which_o reign_v in_o this_o land_n why_o my_o lord_n to_o refer_v the_o cause_n of_o religion_n unto_o the_o convocation_n house_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o to_o charge_v the_o wolf_n under_o pain_n of_o the_o displeasure_n of_o careful_a shepherd_n to_o see_v that_o the_o lamb_n may_v be_v feed_v beside_o the_o injurious_a derogation_n that_o thereby_o be_v offer_v unto_o the_o liberty_n of_o this_o house_n and_o that_o it_o may_v appear_v how_o just_o i_o apeal_v from_o that_o synagogue_n unto_o this_o high_a court_n of_o parliament_n and_o what_o small_a hope_n there_o be_v to_o be_v conceive_v of_o reform_v the_o abuse_n of_o our_o church_n if_o the_o redress_n be_v commit_v unto_o that_o meeting_n you_o of_o the_o honourable_a court_n of_o parliament_n be_v to_o understand_v that_o the_o convocation_n house_n condemn_v this_o cause_n of_o christ_n now_o in_o hand_n before_o it_o be_v hard_a and_o that_o their_o only_a endeavour_n who_o be_v there_o meet_v be_v how_o to_o prevent_v he_o from_o bear_v rule_n in_o the_o church_n by_o his_o own_o law_n for_o it_o be_v well_o know_v that_o all_o of_o they_o have_v band_v and_o link_v themselves_o together_o to_o maintain_v the_o corruption_n of_o our_o church_n whereof_o i_o have_v before_o speak_v as_o the_o ungodly_a and_o popish_a hierarchy_n of_o bishop_n the_o ignorant_a ministry_n etc._n etc._n which_o thing_n shall_v be_v manifest_v by_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o person_n who_o be_v admit_v unto_o the_o consultation_n &_o meeâ—ing_n and_o they_o be_v of_o 2._o sort_n first_o these_o who_o by_o â—eason_n of_o the_o superiority_n they_o usurp_v over_o their_o brother_n must_v needs_o be_v the_o chief_a doer_n in_o that_o house_n â—ow_o ignorant_a unconscionable_a and_o unfit_a for_o the_o government_n of_o the_o church_n soever_o they_o be_v of_o which_o number_n be_v our_o archbb._n and_o l._n bishop_n etc._n etc._n the_o second_o sort_n be_v of_o these_o who_o have_v no_o interest_n to_o be_v there_o in_o respect_n of_o any_o superiority_n they_o bear_v in_o the_o church_n be_v therefore_o elect_v and_o choose_v to_o be_v there_o as_o the_o clark_n of_o the_o convocation_n house_n etc._n etc._n but_o there_o be_v such_o freedom_n and_o liberty_n in_o the_o choice_n of_o these_o man_n that_o great_a care_n and_o heed_n be_v always_o have_v by_o our_o l._n bb._n that_o none_o shall_v be_v choose_v thither_o but_o such_o as_o for_o good_a cause_n be_v know_v to_o be_v utter_a enemy_n unto_o all_o sincerity_n and_o strong_a maintainer_n of_o the_o establish_a corruption_n if_o any_o other_o by_o some_o mean_n be_v get_v thither_o who_o do_v but_o once_o mention_v the_o heal_n of_o the_o wound_n of_o our_o church_n he_o be_v straightway_o take_v for_o a_o nicodemus_n among_o they_o namely_o for_o a_o man_n favour_v that_o side_n which_o none_o of_o the_o great_a scribe_n and_o pharise_n can_v brook_v and_o light_o they_o take_v that_o order_n with_o he_o which_o the_o jew_n take_v with_o those_o who_o profess_v our_o saviour_n christ_n that_o be_v they_o banish_v he_o out_o of_o their_o synagogue_n to_o be_v brief_a whosoever_o be_v of_o the_o house_n there_o be_v nothing_o do_v there_o but_o what_o the_o former_a sort_n to_o wit_n l._n archb_n &_o bb._n will_v have_v enact_v for_o the_o rest_n either_o can_v or_o will_v not_o withstand_v their_o proceed_n the_o whole_a sway_n then_o &_o these_o 30._o full_a year_n have_v teach_v we_o what_o a_o lamentable_a reformation_n these_o man_n now_o bring_v to_o pass_v if_o they_o may_v have_v their_o own_o will_n why_o these_o man_n my_o lord_n and_o consequent_o the_o whole_a convocation_n house_n be_v in_o judgement_n contrary_a unto_o our_o 22.25_o our_o luk._n 22.25_o saviour_n christ_n for_o they_o hold_v it_o lawful_a for_o minister_n to_o be_v lord_n over_o their_o brethren_n these_o man_n my_o ll._n be_v of_o judgement_n that_o the_o exhortation_n of_o the_o apostle_n peter_n be_v not_o direct_v unto_o they_o the_o elder_n which_o be_v among_o you_o say_v the_o apostle_n i_o beseech_v which_o be_o also_o a_o elder_a and_o a_o witness_n of_o the_o suffering_n of_o christ_n &_o also_o a_o partaker_n of_o the_o be_v a_o humane_a ordinance_n and_o so_o hold_v the_o pope_n to_o have_v sufficient_a warrant_n of_o his_o hierarchy_n they_o my_o ll._n hold_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o outward_a government_n to_o be_v a_o kingdom_n the_o law_n whereof_o may_v be_v change_v and_o abrogate_a at_o the_o pleasure_n
of_o man_n they_o do_v not_o stick_v to_o affirm_v it_o lawful_a for_o they_o to_o teach_v many_o thing_n not_o include_v in_o the_o commission_n give_v by_o our_o saviour_n christ_n unto_o his_o tolerate_v for_o lawful_a minister_n in_o a_o christian_n commonwealth_n and_o that_o the_o parliament_n may_v secure_o maintain_v they_o in_o our_o church_n without_o all_o fear_n of_o god_n judgemente_n for_o tollerate_v they_o o_o the_o great_a hand_n of_o god_n in_o punish_a our_o ingratitude_n that_o in_o this_o clear_a light_n of_o the_o gospel_n they_o who_o take_v upon_o they_o to_o be_v archseer_n willing_o see_v not_o that_o none_o can_v be_v lawful_a embassador_n of_o jesus_n christ_n but_o they_o out_o of_o who_o mouth_n this_o embassage_n be_v hear_v 5._o 1._o cor._n 5._o we_o beseech_v you_o in_o christ_n steed_n that_o you_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o god_n and_o yet_o such_o be_v the_o blindness_n of_o the_o convocation_n house_n that_o they_o can_v see_v this_o but_o i_o blush_v to_o think_v that_o they_o dare_v once_o presume_v to_o give_v any_o countenance_n unto_o nonresidencie_n that_o ghastly_a and_o fearful_a sin_n and_o yet_o behold_v notwithstanding_o they_o be_v not_o only_a all_o of_o they_o guilty_a thereof_o themselves_o but_o even_o in_o the_o book_n which_o they_o have_v publish_v unto_o the_o world_n in_o the_o defence_n of_o their_o corruption_n they_o have_v not_o be_v ashamed_a to_o advouch_v the_o lawfulness_n of_o this_o unnatural_a and_o desperate_a murder_n yea_o the_o very_a pulpit_n have_v ring_v again_o &_o again_o with_o invective_n against_o all_o those_o that_o withstand_v this_o their_o madness_n o_o my_o ll._n &_o you_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o r._n honourable_a and_o worshipful_a of_o this_o high_a court_n of_o parliament_n i_o can_v not_o stay_v myself_o but_o i_o must_v needs_o in_o this_o place_n cry_v unto_o you_o for_o help_v and_o justice_n against_o these_o unnatural_a man_n the_o convocation_n house_n my_o ll._n defend_v nonresidencie_n to_o be_v lawful_a nonresidencie_n my_o ll._n be_v defend_v to_o be_v lawful_a in_o the_o convocation_n house_n and_o will_v you_o then_o trust_v they_o with_o the_o oversight_n of_o the_o people_n who_o be_v of_o judgement_n that_o they_o may_v lawful_o starve_v &_o murder_v they_o can_v you_o hope_v for_o any_o good_a to_o come_v unto_o the_o church_n of_o god_n from_o that_o council_n where_o it_o be_v enact_v that_o it_o may_v be_v lawful_a for_o a_o bond_n of_o murder_a nonresident_n to_o destroy_v the_o same_o if_o therefore_o in_o the_o parliament_n of_o england_n there_o be_v any_o care_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o the_o liberty_n of_o his_o church_n if_o any_o pity_n and_o compassion_n of_o the_o starve_a soul_n of_o man_n let_v other_o be_v trust_v to_o provide_v food_n for_o your_o people_n and_o not_o those_o who_o very_a judgement_n be_v so_o darken_v that_o they_o hold_v it_o allowable_a by_o the_o word_n for_o they_o to_o take_v order_n that_o man_n may_v not_o be_v feed_v it_o be_v now_o meet_v my_o ll._n that_o they_o who_o hold_v it_o lawful_a for_o man_n to_o make_v a_o trade_n of_o murder_n shall_v be_v allow_v for_o physician_n and_o what_o else_o be_v they_o who_o defend_v the_o lawfulness_n of_o nonresidencie_n but_o such_o as_o profess_v it_o lawful_a for_o man_n to_o be_v maintain_v rather_o than_o they_o shall_v want_v live_v even_o by_o the_o murder_n of_o their_o brethren_n be_v it_o not_o great_a pity_n then_o but_o that_o this_o convocation_n house_n shall_v therein_o doubtless_o any_o thing_n shall_v be_v hear_v which_o may_v tend_v to_o the_o furtherance_n of_o the_o gospel_n see_v none_o sound_n few_o except_v be_v admit_v into_o that_o assembly_n who_o be_v not_o guilty_a of_o the_o merciless_a and_o cruel_a murder_n of_o soul_n as_o be_v all_o of_o they_o for_o the_o most_o part_n curse_a and_o bloody_a nonresident_n and_o be_v it_o not_o great_a pity_n but_o that_o the_o parliament_n shall_v stay_v and_o go_v no_o further_o in_o the_o reformation_n of_o religion_n than_o it_o shall_v be_v direct_v by_o the_o convocation_n house_n for_o it_o may_v be_v hope_v out_o of_o question_n that_o the_o convocation_n house_n will_v see_v that_o no_o calling_n be_v henceforth_o tolerate_v in_o the_o ministry_n but_o such_o as_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o word_n warrant_v to_o be_v lawful_a and_o therefore_o it_o may_v be_v hope_v that_o the_o leader_n thereof_o will_v not_o stick_v to_o put_v down_o archbishop_n and_o l._n bb._n that_o christ_n alone_o by_o the_o officer_n which_o he_o in_o his_o word_n have_v appoint_v may_v rule_v in_o his_o church_n they_o will_v not_o abide_v that_o any_o blemish_a &_o maim_a levit_fw-la shall_v come_v near_o to_o the_o lord_n sanctuary_n nor_o any_o pharisaical_a high_a priest_n shall_v usurp_v any_o authority_n over_o his_o brethren_n in_o this_o land_n if_o this_o hope_n may_v be_v conceive_v of_o they_o then_o in_o deed_n will_v they_o be_v meet_v to_o cure_v the_o disease_n of_o our_o church_n but_o the_o truth_n be_v that_o there_o be_v no_o reason_n why_o this_o shall_v be_v expect_v at_o their_o hand_n because_o they_o be_v so_o far_o as_o this_o whole_a land_n know_v from_o have_v any_o remorse_n of_o the_o unlawful_a and_o ungodly_a calling_n wherein_o they_o now_o remain_v that_o their_o practice_n against_o god_n and_o his_o truth_n do_v proclaim_v unto_o the_o world_n that_o they_o never_o mean_v to_o restore_v again_o her_o own_o authority_n unto_o the_o church_n whereof_o by_o their_o lordship_n it_o have_v be_v spoil_v i_o have_v determine_v with_o myself_o not_o to_o trouble_v this_o honourable_a assembly_n at_o this_o time_n with_o any_o large_a discourse_n concern_v these_o man_n &_o their_o dealng_n otherwise_o i_o will_v show_v by_o evident_a prof_n that_o they_o and_o so_o the_o whole_a convocation_n house_n be_v guilty_a of_o such_o crime_n as_o the_o favorabl_a interpreter_n of_o their_o proceed_n will_v of_o necessity_n be_v draw_v to_o give_v this_o sentence_n against_o they_o namely_o that_o they_o be_v intolerable_a oppugner_n of_o god_n glory_n and_o utter_a enemy_n unto_o the_o liberty_n of_o his_o church_n and_o they_o shall_v also_o be_v draw_v to_o confess_v that_o the_o parliament_n in_o maintain_v the_o convocation_n house_n do_v maintain_v and_o defend_v together_o with_o the_o hinder_v and_o smother_a of_o the_o truth_n not_o only_o the_o deform_a ruin_n but_o also_o the_o lamentable_a oppression_n of_o the_o church_n so_o that_o it_o shall_v appear_v that_o as_o long_o as_o that_o house_n stand_v as_o at_o this_o day_n it_o do_v there_o can_v be_v no_o hope_n at_o all_o that_o either_o god_n heavenly_a truth_n shall_v have_v free_a passage_n or_o the_o church_n her_o liberty_n in_o this_o kingdom_n the_o brief_a head_n of_o the_o public_a crime_n whereof_o the_o leader_n of_o the_o convocation_n house_n be_v guilty_a i_o will_v here_o set_v down_o &_o they_o shall_v be_v hereafter_o evident_o prove_v if_o they_o unto_o who_o charge_n they_o be_v lay_v dare_v deny_v they_o have_v join_v the_o crime_n of_o seduce_a and_o deceive_v the_o civil_a state_n and_o people_n by_o bear_v all_o estate_n in_o hand_n that_o all_o have_v be_v and_o be_v well_o in_o the_o church_n and_o in_o like_a manner_n as_o much_o as_o in_o they_o lay_v they_o have_v vex_v and_o persecute_v as_o many_o of_o the_o dear_a servant_n of_o god_n as_o have_v but_o intend_v to_o motion_n the_o redress_n of_o any_o of_o the_o former_a corruption_n hereof_o if_o i_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o prove_v the_o eye_n and_o leader_n of_o this_o synagogue_n &_o consequent_o the_o whole_a house_n to_o be_v guilty_a let_v i_o to_o the_o terror_n of_o all_o slanderer_n be_v put_v to_o all_o the_o torment_n that_o may_v be_v invent_v the_o convocation_n house_n can_v here_o object_v that_o i_o
