be_v use_v in_o the_o synagogue_n now_o if_o the_o jew_n do_v thus_o institute_v and_o alter_v thing_n relate_v to_o external_a order_n and_o administration_n according_a as_o the_o case_n may_v require_v and_o it_o be_v lawful_a for_o they_o so_o to_o do_v as_o it_o be_v plain_a from_o the_o compliance_n of_o our_o saviour_n and_o the_o apostle_n with_o they_o in_o it_o then_o much_o more_o of_o the_o church_n and_o the_o peace_n glory_n and_o security_n of_o that_o in_o its_o order_n be_v to_o be_v respect_v and_o according_a to_o these_o rule_n and_o the_o circumstance_n of_o thing_n be_v we_o to_o judge_n of_o the_o indifferency_n lawfulness_n or_o expediency_n of_o thing_n use_v in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o as_o they_o do_v make_v for_o or_o against_o and_o do_v approach_n to_o or_o recede_v from_o these_o character_n so_o they_o be_v to_o be_v reject_v or_o observe_v and_o the_o more_o or_o less_o esteem_v but_o yet_o we_o be_v not_o come_v to_o a_o church_n of_o corinth_n some_o doubtless_o be_v for_o be_v cover_v other_o for_o be_v uncover_v in_o divine_a worship_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v somewhat_o further_o requisite_a to_o give_v satisfaction_n in_o the_o point_n and_o by_o which_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o judge_v what_o be_v decent_a edify_v and_o orderly_o as_o well_o as_o we_o be_v by_o what_o be_v decent_a etc._n etc._n to_o determine_v what_o be_v fit_a to_o be_v use_v in_o religious_a worship_n and_o this_o we_o may_v be_v help_v in_o by_o consider_v 1._o that_o some_o thing_n make_v so_o eminent_o for_o or_o be_v so_o notorious_o opposite_a to_o these_o rule_n that_o common_a reason_n will_v be_v able_a forthwith_o to_o judge_n of_o they_o and_o to_o declare_v for_o or_o against_o they_o so_o when_o the_o love-feast_n and_o the_o lord_n supper_n be_v appoint_v for_o the_o testify_a and_o increase_n of_o mutual_a charity_n if_o one_o take_v his_o supper_n before_o another_o 21._o it_o be_v to_o make_v it_o rather_o a_o private_a meal_n than_o a_o religious_a feast_n and_o so_o be_v a_o notorious_a breach_n of_o order_n and_o christian_a fellowship_n so_o a_o tumultuous_a speak_n of_o many_o together_o be_v less_o for_o edification_n and_o have_v more_o of_o confusion_n than_o the_o orderly_o speak_v of_o one_o by_o one_o and_o service_n in_o a_o unknown_a tongue_n do_v less_o conduce_v to_o edification_n than_o when_o it_o be_v in_o a_o language_n vulgar_o know_v and_o understand_v 27._o this_o be_v a_o case_n that_o reason_n as_o well_o as_o the_o apostle_n do_v determine_v to_o our_o hand_n and_o which_o mankind_n will_v with_o one_o consent_n soon_o agree_v to_o be_v it_o not_o for_o a_o certain_a church_n in_o the_o world_n that_o carry_v those_o of_o its_o communion_n against_o sense_n reason_n and_o nature_n for_o its_o own_o advantage_n 2._o but_o there_o be_v other_o thing_n which_o be_v not_o so_o clear_a and_o evident_a and_o so_o the_o case_n need_v further_a consideration_n for_o the_o clear_n of_o which_o we_o may_v observe_v 1._o that_o we_o be_v not_o so_o much_o to_o judge_n of_o decency_n order_n and_o edification_n asunder_o as_o together_o these_o have_v a_o mutual_a relation_n to_o and_o dependence_n upon_o each_o other_o cor._n so_o it_o be_v well_o observe_v by_o st._n chrysostom_n that_o nothing_o do_v so_o much_o edify_v 40._o as_o order_n peace_n and_o love_n and_o the_o apostle_n when_o he_o have_v reprove_v the_o disorder_n of_o their_o service_n in_o the_o church_n of_o corinth_n conclude_v it_o 26._o let_v all_o thing_n be_v do_v to_o edify_v the_o not_o observe_v of_o this_o be_v the_o occasion_n of_o very_o great_a mistake_v in_o this_o matter_n for_o person_n when_o they_o will_v judge_v of_o edification_n consider_v present_o what_o they_o conceive_v do_v most_o improve_v they_o in_o knowledge_n or_o any_o particular_a grace_n and_o have_v no_o further_a consideration_n for_o the_o sake_n of_o this_o throw_v down_o the_o bound_n of_o public_a order_n and_o bring_v all_o into_o confusion_n and_o for_o edify_v as_o they_o apprehend_v themselves_o do_o disturb_v if_o not_o destroy_v the_o church_n of_o god_n and_o render_v the_o mean_n use_v in_o it_o ineffectual_a to_o themselves_o and_o other_o thus_o again_o they_o judge_v of_o what_o be_v decent_a and_o indecent_a and_o conclude_v that_o there_o be_v no_o indecency_n in_o sit_v suppose_v at_o the_o sacrament_n or_o the_o prayer_n but_o they_o mistake_v in_o such_o a_o conception_n while_o what_o be_v against_o public_a order_n and_o practice_n be_v for_o that_o reason_n indecent_a be_v there_o no_o other_o reason_n to_o make_v it_o so_o so_o that_o if_o we_o will_v judge_v aright_o of_o either_o of_o these_o we_o must_v judge_v of_o they_o together_o and_o as_o order_n alone_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o make_v a_o thing_n decent_a which_o be_v in_o itself_o indecent_a so_o decency_n or_o particular_a edification_n be_v not_o enough_o to_o recommend_v that_o which_o be_v not_o to_o be_v introduce_v or_o obtain_v without_o the_o disturbance_n and_o overthrow_n of_o public_a order_n and_o peace_n 2._o when_o the_o case_n be_v not_o apparent_a we_o shall_v rather_o judge_v by_o what_o be_v contrary_a than_o by_o what_o be_v agreeable_a to_o those_o rule_n we_o know_v better_a what_o thing_n be_v not_o than_o what_o they_o be_v and_o if_o christian_n shall_v never_o agree_v to_o any_o thing_n in_o the_o external_n administration_n of_o divine_a worship_n till_o they_o agree_v in_o the_o notion_n of_o decency_n order_n and_o edification_n or_o till_o they_o can_v prove_v that_o the_o thing_n use_v or_o require_v to_o be_v use_v in_o a_o church_n do_v exact_o agree_v to_o the_o notion_n and_o definition_n of_o it_o worship_n must_v never_o be_v administer_v or_o the_o great_a part_n of_o christian_n must_v exclude_v themselves_o from_o it_o and_o yet_o this_o must_v be_v do_v before_o it_o can_v be_v positive_o say_v unless_o in_o thing_n very_o manifest_a that_o this_o be_v decent_a or_o that_o be_v orderly_o etc._n etc._n these_o thing_n as_o i_o have_v say_v be_v variable_a and_o depend_v upon_o circumstance_n and_o so_o person_n must_v needs_o be_v wonderful_o confound_v if_o they_o come_v to_o nicety_n and_o insist_v upon_o they_o and_o therefore_o as_o we_o better_o know_v what_o be_v indecent_a than_o decent_a disorderly_o than_o orderly_a against_o than_o for_o edification_n so_o it_o be_v better_a to_o take_v the_o course_n abovesaid_a in_o judge_v about_o it_o as_o for_o instance_n if_o we_o will_v inquire_v into_o the_o decency_n of_o the_o posture_n to_o be_v use_v in_o the_o lord_n supper_n or_o the_o edification_n that_o may_v arise_v from_o it_o some_o will_v say_v its_o best_a to_o receive_v it_o in_o the_o posture_n frequent_o use_v in_o the_o devotion_n of_o the_o ancient_a church_n of_o stand_v or_o incurvation_n

sort_n in_o some_o church_n 1._o such_o also_o be_v the_o love-feast_n at_o the_o administration_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o the_o holy-kiss_a use_v then_o among_o christian_n if_o not_o as_o other_o thing_n we_o can_v condemn_v when_o we_o find_v if_o we_o argue_v against_o it_o they_o argue_v for_o it_o and_o produce_v experience_n against_o experience_n and_o reason_n against_o reason_n other_o reason_n against_o it_o will_v become_v they_o to_o think_v again_o and_o to_o think_v that_o the_o case_n perhaps_o require_v only_a time_n or_o use_n to_o wear_v off_o their_o prejudices_fw-la and_o that_o by_o these_o way_n they_o may_v as_o effectual_o be_v reconcile_v to_o the_o thing_n practise_v in_o a_o church_n as_o they_o be_v to_o the_o civil_a usage_n and_o the_o he_o please_v and_o all_o lawful_a thing_n remain_v to_o he_o as_o they_o be_v in_o their_o own_o nature_n free_n he_o may_v eat_v this_o or_o that_o choose_v this_o day_n or_o another_o and_o set_v
