keep_v they_o above_o contempt_n but_o in_o some_o respect_n agreeable_a to_o the_o more_o ample_a provision_n of_o other_o order_n of_o men._n and_o by_o god_n own_o appointment_n the_o tribe_n of_o levi_n do_v not_o fall_v short_a of_o any_o of_o the_o rest_n if_o it_o do_v not_o very_o much_o exceed_v the_o proportion_n of_o other_o we_o do_v not_o pretend_v to_o the_o privilege_n they_o have_v only_o we_o observe_v from_o thence_o that_o god_n himself_o do_v appoint_v a_o plentiful_a subsistence_n for_o those_o who_o attend_v upon_o his_o service_n and_o i_o do_v not_o know_v what_o there_o than_o the_o employment_n of_o the_o priest_n and_o levite_n under_o the_o law_n but_o we_o need_v not_o go_v so_o far_o back_o if_o the_o church_n enjoy_v all_o her_o revenue_n as_o entire_o as_o when_o the_o severe_a canon_n against_o plurality_n be_v make_v there_o will_v not_o be_v such_o a_o plea_n for_o they_o as_o there_o be_v too_o much_o cause_n for_o in_o some_o place_n from_o the_o want_n of_o a_o competent_a subsistence_n but_o since_o that_o time_n the_o abundance_n of_o appropriation_n since_o turn_v into_o lay-fee_n have_v extreme_o lessen_v the_o church_n revenue_n and_o have_v leave_v we_o a_o great_a number_n of_o poor_a vicarage_n and_o arbitrary_a cure_n which_o will_v hardly_o have_v afford_v a_o maintenance_n for_o the_o nethinim_n under_o the_o law_n who_o be_v only_o to_o be_v hewer_n of_o wood_n and_o drawer_n of_o water_n but_o this_o do_v not_o yet_o clear_a the_o difficulty_n for_o the_o question_n be_v whether_o the_o subsistence_n of_o the_o clergy_n can_v lawful_o be_v improve_v by_o a_o plurality_n of_o live_n true_o i_o think_v this_o if_o it_o be_v allow_v in_o some_o case_n lawful_a to_o be_v the_o least_o desirable_a way_n of_o any_o but_o in_o some_o circumstance_n it_o be_v much_o more_o excusable_a than_o in_o other_o as_o when_o the_o benefice_n
