and_o eudoxia_n who_o he_o say_v be_v sick_a and_o have_v be_v severe_o reprehend_v by_o he_o may_v be_v absolute_v from_o his_o holiness_n censure_n the_o pope_n accept_v of_o this_o excuse_n and_o submission_n restore_v they_o both_o to_o the_o ecclesiastical_a communion_n this_o be_v the_o true_a story_n of_o s._n john_n chrysostom_n out_o of_o which_o mr._n walsh_n you_o may_v gather_v 1._o that_o areadius_n do_v not_o as_o much_o as_o pretend_v to_o be_v judge_n of_o s._n john_n chrysostom_n or_o of_o his_o cause_n 2._o that_o neither_o the_o saint_n nor_o the_o pope_n nor_o even_o the_o factious_a bishop_n who_o meet_v at_o chalcedon_n pretend_v there_o be_v any_o power_n in_o the_o emperor_n to_o judge_v or_o sentence_v the_o person_n or_o cause_n of_o john_n but_o only_o to_o banish_v he_o pursuant_n to_o the_o sentence_n of_o the_o conventicle_n of_o chalcedon_n who_o take_v upon_o themselves_o the_o sin_n of_o that_o action_n at_o which_o the_o emperor_n scruple_v as_o you_o have_v hear_v 3._o that_o when_o the_o emperor_n command_v john_n to_o be_v go_v from_o his_o church_n the_o saint_n will_v not_o obey_v he_o as_o not_o be_v his_o judge_n and_o therefore_o the_o soldier_n force_v he_o away_o will_v such_o a_o great_a saint_n as_o this_o have_v disobey_v if_o he_o think_v the_o emperor_n have_v any_o lawful_a power_n or_o judicature_n over_o he_o in_o that_o matter_n it_o be_v a_o endless_a and_o superfluous_a labour_n to_o follow_v this_o wild_a friar_n wander_v up_o and_o down_o the_o ecclesiastical_a history_n with_o so_o little_a judgement_n that_o though_o he_o can_v not_o find_v therein_o any_o thing_n for_o his_o purpose_n yet_o be_v sure_a always_o to_o fix_v upon_o those_o example_n which_o make_v most_o against_o he_o as_o we_o have_v see_v hitherto_o and_o any_o one_o may_v see_v in_o his_o own_o book_n wherein_o he_o instance_n half_a a_o dozen_o other_o prince_n action_n some_o whereof_o be_v confess_v heretic_n as_o theodoricus_n the_o arrian_n this_o prince_n though_o a_o arian_n say_v the_o judicious_a friar_n pag._n 357._o as_o to_o his_o belief_n of_o the_o trinity_n of_o person_n or_o divinity_n of_o jesus_n christ_n yet_o in_o all_o other_o point_n of_o christian_a religion_n he_o be_v precise_a wary_a and_o strict_a enough_o it_o be_v very_o likely_a a_o man_n who_o deny_v the_o trinity_n and_o the_o divinity_n of_o christ_n will_v be_v very_o precise_a in_o believe_v and_o strict_a in_o not_o violate_v the_o clergye_n privilege_n the_o catholic_a prince_n do_v but_o execute_v the_o law_n against_o bishop_n when_o these_o be_v depose_v and_o declare_v heretic_n by_o the_o church_n and_o that_o sometime_o at_o the_o express_a petition_n of_o the_o pope_n or_o counsel_n themselves_o and_o yet_o this_o dull_a friar_n think_v this_o be_v a_o confession_n and_o acknowledgement_n of_o the_o clergye_n subjection_n in_o spiritual_a matter_n to_o temporal_a sovereign_n as_o judge_n thereof_o what_o man_n in_o his_o wit_n will_v quote_v as_o this_o friar_n do_v pag._n 361._o these_o word_n of_o pope_n john_n 2._o in_o his_o letter_n to_o the_o emperor_n justinian_n as_o a_o evidence_n of_o ●ay_n sovereign_n judicature_n or_o supremacy_n in_o ecclesiastical_a affair_n it_o be_v fit_a that_o they_o who_o obey_v not_o our_o statute_n be_v esteem_v out_o of_o the_o church_n but_o because_o the_o church_n never_o shut_v her_o bosom_n to_o those_o who_o return_v to_o it_o i_o beseech_v your_o clemency_n that_o if_o those_o man_n have_v for_o saken_a their_o error_n and_o bad_a intention_n will_v return_v to_o the_o unity_n of_o the_o church_n and_o be_v receive_v in_o your_o communion_n that_o you_o will_v remove_v the_o sting_n of_o your_o indignation_n and_o at_o our_o entreaty_n grant_v they_o the_o favour_n of_o a_o benign_a mind_n perhaps_o you_o reader_n see_v not_o any_o thing_n in_o those_o word_n for_o peter_n walsh_n his_o purpose_n at_o least_o i_o do_v not_o see_v where_o the_o acumen_n lie_v but_o we_o be_v dull_a observe_v say_v this_o acute_a friar_n that_o he_o the_o pope_n say_v your_o indignation_n not_o our_o condemnation_n mark_v that_o sir_n well_o i_o see_v these_o search_a and_o subtle_a wit_n be_v strange_a thing_n they_o find_v out_o mystery_n where_o there_o be_v none_o mr._n walsh_n will_v you_o have_v the_o pope_n speak_v
