for_o other_o to_o come_v unto_o or_o hear_v either_o in_o common_a church_n or_o private_a chapel_n or_o oratory_n common_o call_v the_o service_n of_o the_o church_n or_o shall_v preach_v declare_v or_o speak_v any_o thing_n in_o the_o derogation_n or_o deprave_v of_o the_o say_a book_n or_o any_o thing_n therein_o contain_v or_o of_o any_o part_n thereof_o and_o shall_v be_v thereof_o lawful_o convict_v according_a to_o the_o law_n of_o this_o realm_n by_o verdict_n of_o twelve_o man_n or_o by_o his_o own_o confession_n or_o by_o the_o notorious_a evidence_n of_o the_o fact_n he_o shall_v lose_v and_o forfeit_a to_o the_o queen_n highness_n her_o heir_n and_o successor_n for_o his_o first_o offence_n the_o profit_n of_o all_o his_o spiritual_a benefice_n or_o promotion_n come_v or_o of_o they_o in_o such_o manner_n and_o form_n as_o be_v mention_v in_o the_o say_a book_n that_o then_o every_o such_o person_n be_v thereof_o lawful_o convict_v in_o form_n abovesaid_a shall_v forfeit_v to_o the_o queen_n our_o sovereign_a lady_n her_o heir_n and_o successor_n for_o the_o first_o offence_n a_o hundred_o mark_n and_o if_o any_o person_n or_o person_n be_v once_o convict_v censure_n of_o the_o church_n and_o also_o upon_o pain_n that_o every_o person_n so_o offend_v shall_v forfeit_v for_o every_o such_o offence_n twelve_o penny_n to_o be_v levy_v by_o the_o churchwarden_n of_o the_o parish_n where_o such_o offence_n shall_v be_v do_v to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o the_o the_o same_o parish_n of_o the_o good_n land_n and_o tenement_n of_o such_o england_n by_o the_o authority_n of_o parliament_n in_o the_o second_o year_n of_o the_o reign_n of_o king_n edward_n the_o six_o until_o other_o order_n shall_v be_v therein_o take_v by_o the_o refuse_v to_o come_v to_o their_o parish-church_n and_o other_o public_a place_n where_o common_a prayer_n administration_n of_o the_o sacrament_n and_o preach_v of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v appoint_v for_o his_o say_a lecture_n or_o sermon_n before_o his_o say_a lecture_n or_o sermon_n open_o public_o and_o solemn_o read_v the_o common_a prayer_n and_o service_n in_o and_o by_o the_o say_a book_n appoint_v to_o be_v read_v for_o that_o time_n of_o the_o day_n at_o which_o the_o say_a lecture_n or_o sermon_n be_v to_o be_v preach_v and_o after_o such_o read_n thereof_o shall_v open_o and_o public_o before_o the_o congregation_n there_o assemble_v declare_v his_o unfeigned_a assent_n and_o consent_n unto_o and_o approbation_n of_o the_o say_a book_n and_o to_o the_o use_n and_o service_n appoint_v by_o the_o say_a book_n and_o conform_v in_o all_o point_n to_o the_o thing_n therein_o appoint_v and_o prescribe_v according_a to_o the_o purport_n true_a intent_n and_o meaning_n of_o this_o act._n provide_v always_o that_o if_o the_o say_a sermon_n or_o lecture_n be_v to_o be_v preach_v or_o read_v in_o any_o cathedral_n or_o collegiate_n church_n or_o chappel_n it_o shall_v be_v sufficient_a for_o the_o say_a lecturer_n open_o at_o the_o time_n aforesaid_a to_o declare_v his_o assent_n and_o consent_n to_o all_o thing_n contain_v in_o the_o say_a book_n according_a to_o the_o form_n aforesaid_a and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o if_o any_o person_n who_o be_v by_o this_o act_n disable_v to_o preach_v any_o lecture_n or_o sermon_n shall_v during_o the_o time_n that_o he_o shall_v continue_v and_o remain_v so_o disable_v preach_v any_o sermon_n or_o lecture_n that_o then_o for_o every_o such_o offence_n the_o person_n and_o person_n so_o offend_v shall_v suffer_v three_o month_n imprisonment_n in_o the_o common_a goal_n without_o bail_n or_o mainprize_n and_o that_o any_o two_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n of_o any_o county_n of_o this_o kingdom_n and_o place_n aforesaid_a and_o the_o mayor_n or_o other_o chief_a magistrate_n of_o any_o city_n or_o town-corporate_a within_o the_o same_o upon_o certificate_n from_o the_o ordinary_a of_o the_o place_n make_v to_o he_o or_o they_o of_o the_o offence_n commit_v shall_v and_o be_v hereby_o require_v to_o commit_v the_o person_n or_o person_n so_o offend_v to_o the_o goal_n of_o the_o county_n city_n or_o town-corporate_a according_o provide_v always_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o at_o all_o and_o every_o time_n and_o time_n when_o any_o sermon_n or_o lecture_n be_v to_o be_v preach_v the_o common_a prayer_n and_o service_n in_o and_o by_o the_o say_a book_n appoint_v to_o be_v read_v for_o that_o time_n of_o the_o day_n shall_v be_v open_o public_o and_o solemn_o read_v by_o some_o priest_n or_o deacon_n in_o the_o church_n chappel_n or_o place_n of_o public_a worship_n where_o the_o say_a sermon_n or_o lecture_n be_v to_o be_v preach_v before_o such_o sermon_n or_o lecture_n be_v preach_v and_o that_o the_o lecturer_n then_o to_o preach_v shall_v be_v present_a at_o the_o read_n thereof_o provide_v nevertheless_o that_o this_o act_n shall_v not_o extend_v to_o the_o university-churche_n in_o the_o university_n of_o this_o realm_n or_o either_o of_o they_o when_o or_o at_o such_o time_n as_o any_o sermon_n or_o lecture_n be_v preach_v or_o read_v in_o the_o same_o church_n or_o any_o of_o they_o for_z or_o as_o the_o public_a university-sermon_n or_o lecture_n but_o that_o the_o same_o sermon_n and_o lecture_n may_v be_v preach_v or_o read_v in_o such_o sort_n and_o manner_n as_o the_o same_o have_v be_v heretofore_o preach_v or_o read_v this_o act_n or_o any_o thing_n herein_o contain_v to_o the_o contrary_a thereof_o in_o any_o wise_n notwithstanding_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o several_a good_a law_n and_o statute_n of_o this_o realm_n which_o have_v be_v former_o make_v and_o be_v now_o in_o force_n for_o the_o uniformity_n of_o prayer_n and_o administration_n of_o the_o sacrament_n within_o this_o realm_n of_o england_n and_o place_n aforesaid_a shall_v stand_v in_o full_a force_n and_o strength_n to_o all_o intent_n and_o purpose_n whatsoever_o for_o the_o establish_n and_o confirm_v of_o the_o say_a book_n entitle_v the_o book_n of_o common_a prayer_n and_o administration_n of_o the_o sacrament_n and_o other_o rite_n and_o ceremony_n of_o the_o church_n according_a to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n together_o with_o the_o psalter_n or_o psalm_n of_o david_n point_v as_o they_o be_v to_o be_v sing_v or_o say_v in_o church_n and_o the_o form_n and_o manner_n of_o make_v ordain_v and_o consecrate_v of_o bishop_n priest_n and_o deacon_n herein_o before_o mention_v to_o be_v join_v and_o annex_v to_o this_o act_n and_o shall_v be_v apply_v practise_v and_o put_v in_o ure_n for_o the_o punish_n of_o all_o offence_n contrary_a to_o the_o say_a law_n with_o relation_n to_o the_o book_n aforesaid_a and_o no_o other_o provide_v always_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o in_o all_o those_o prayer_n litany_n and_o collect_v which_o do_v any_o way_n relate_v to_o the_o king_n queen_n or_o royal_a progeny_n the_o name_n be_v alter_v and_o change_v from_o time_n to_o time_n and_o fit_v to_o the_o present_a occasion_n according_a to_o the_o direction_n of_o lawful_a authority_n provide_v also_o and_o be_v it_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o a_o true_a print_a copy_n of_o the_o say_a book_n entitle_v the_o book_n of_o common_a prayer_n and_o administration_n of_o the_o sacrament_n and_o other_o rite_n and_o ceremony_n of_o the_o church_n according_a to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n together_o with_o the_o psalter_n or_o psalm_n of_o david_n point_v as_o they_o be_v to_o be_v sing_v or_o say_v in_o church_n and_o the_o form_n and_o manner_n of_o make_v ordain_v and_o consecrate_v of_o bishop_n priest_n and_o deacon_n shall_v at_o the_o cost_n and_o charge_n of_o the_o parishioner_n of_o every_o parish-church_n and_o chappelry_n cathedral_n church_n college_n and_o hall_n be_v attain_v and_o get_v before_o the_o feast-day_n of_o saint_n
bartholomew_n in_o the_o year_n of_o our_o lord_n one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o sixty_o and_o two_o upon_o pain_n of_o forfeiture_n of_o three_o pound_n by_o the_o month_n for_o so_o long_a time_n worship_n belong_v to_o his_o say_a benefice_n or_o promotion_n within_o two_o month_n next_o after_o that_o he_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o actual_a possession_n of_o the_o say_v ecclesiastical_a benefice_n or_o promotion_n upon_o some_o lord_n day_n open_o public_o and_o solemn_o read_v the_o morning_n and_o evening_n prayer_n appoint_v to_o be_v read_v by_o and_o according_a to_o the_o say_a book_n of_o common_a prayer_n at_o the_o time_n thereby_o appoint_v and_o after_o such_o read_n thereof_o shall_v open_o and_o public_o before_o the_o congregation_n there_o assemble_v declare_v his_o unfeigned_a assent_n and_o consent_n to_o the_o use_n of_o all_o thing_n therein_o contain_v and_o prescribe_v according_a to_o the_o form_n before_o appoint_a and_o that_o all_o and_o every_o such_o person_n who_o shall_v without_o some_o lawful_a impediment_n to_o be_v allow_v and_o approve_v by_o the_o ordinary_a of_o the_o place_n neglect_v or_o refuse_v to_o do_v the_o same_o within_o the_o time_n aforesaid_a or_o in_o case_n of_o such_o impediment_n within_o one_o month_n after_o such_o impediment_n remove_v shall_v ipso_fw-la facto_fw-la be_v deprive_v of_o all_o his_o say_a say_v ecclesiastical_a benefice_n and_o promotion_n or_o any_o of_o they_o according_a to_o their_o respective_a right_n and_o title_n to_o present_v or_o collate_n to_o the_o same_o as_o though_o the_o person_n or_o person_n so_o offend_v or_o neglect_v be_v dead_a and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o in_o all_o place_n where_o the_o proper_a incumbent_n of_o any_o parsonage_n or_o vicarage_n or_o benefice_n with_o cure_n do_v reside_v on_o his_o live_n and_o keep_v a_o curate_n the_o incumbent_a himself_o in_o person_n not_o have_v some_o lawful_a impediment_n to_o be_v allow_v by_o the_o ordinary_a of_o the_o place_n shall_v once_o at_o the_o least_o in_o every_o month_n open_o and_o public_o read_v the_o common_a prayer_n and_o service_n in_o and_o by_o the_o say_a book_n prescribe_v and_o if_o there_o be_v occasion_n administer_v each_o of_o the_o sacrament_n and_o other_o rite_n of_o the_o church_n in_o the_o parish-church_n or_o chapel_n of_o or_o belong_v to_o the_o same_o parsonage_n vicarage_n or_o benefice_n in_o such_o order_n manner_n and_o form_n as_o in_o and_o by_o the_o say_a book_n be_v appoint_v upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v the_o sum_n of_o five_o pound_n to_o the_o use_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o the_o parish_n for_o every_o offence_n upon_o conviction_n by_o confession_n or_o proof_n of_o two_o credible_a witness_n upon_o oath_n before_o two_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n of_o the_o county_n city_n or_o town-corporate_a where_o the_o offence_n shall_v be_v commit_v which_o oath_n the_o say_a justice_n be_v hereby_o impower_v to_o administer_v and_o in_o default_n of_o payment_n within_o ten_o day_n to_o be_v levy_v by_o distress_n and_o sale_n of_o the_o good_n and_o chattel_n of_o the_o offender_n fellow_n chaplain_n and_o tutor_n of_o or_o in_o any_o college_n hall_n house_n of_o learning_n or_o hospital_n and_o every_o public_a professor_n and_o reader_n in_o either_o of_o the_o university_n and_o in_o every_o college_n elsewhere_o and_o every_o parson_n vicar_n curate_n lecturer_n and_o every_o other_o person_n in_o holy_a order_n and_o every_o schoolmaster_n keep_v any_o public_a or_o private_a school_n and_o every_o person_n instruct_v or_o teach_v any_o youth_n in_o any_o house_n or_o private_a family_n as_o a_o tutor_n or_o schoolmaster_n who_o upon_o the_o first_o day_n of_o may_n which_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o year_n of_o our_o lord_n god_n one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o sixty_o two_o or_o at_o any_o time_n thereafter_o shall_v be_v incumbent_n or_o have_v possession_n of_o any_o deanery_n canonry_n prebend_n mastership_n headship_n fellowship_n professor_n place_n or_o reader_n place_n parsonage_n vicarage_n or_o any_o other_o ecclesiastical_a feast-day_n of_o saint_n bartholomew_n which_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o year_n of_o our_o lord_n one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o sixty_o two_o or_o at_o or_o before_o he_o or_o their_o respective_a fellowship_n professor_n place_n reader_n place_n parsonage_n vicarage_n ecclesiastical_a dignity_n or_o promotion_n curate_n place_n lecture_n and_o school_n shall_v be_v void_a as_o if_o such_o person_n so_o fail_v be_v natural_o dead_a and_o if_o any_o schoolmaster_n or_o other_o person_n instruct_v or_o teach_v youth_n in_o any_o private_a house_n or_o family_n as_o a_o tutor_n or_o schoolmaster_n shall_v instruct_v or_o teach_v any_o youth_n as_o a_o tutor_n or_o schoolmaster_n before_o license_v obtain_v from_o his_o respective_a archbishop_n bishop_n or_o ordinary_a of_o the_o diocese_n according_a to_o the_o law_n and_o statute_n of_o this_o realm_n for_o which_o he_o shall_v pay_v twelve_o penny_n only_o and_o before_o such_o subscription_n and_o acknowledgement_n make_v that_o the_o say_a parsonage_n vicarage_n or_o benefice_n curate_n place_n or_o lecturer_n place_n shall_v be_v void_a as_o if_o he_o be_v natural_o dead_a provide_v always_o that_o from_o and_o after_o the_o twenty_o five_o day_n of_o march_n which_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o year_n of_o our_o lord_n god_n one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o eighty_o two_o there_o shall_v be_v omit_v in_o the_o say_a declaration_n or_o acknowledgement_n so_o to_o be_v subscribe_v and_o read_v these_o word_n follow_v scilicet_fw-la and_o i_o do_v declare_v that_o i_o do_v hold_v there_o lie_v no_o not_o already_o in_o holy_a order_n by_o episcopal_a ordination_n or_o shall_v not_o before_o the_o say_a feast-day_n of_o saint_n bartholomew_n be_v ordain_v priest_n or_o deacon_n according_a to_o the_o form_n of_o episcopal_a ordination_n shall_v have_v hold_v or_o enjoy_v the_o say_a parsonage_n vicarage_n benefice_n with_o cure_n or_o other_o ecclesiastical_a promotion_n within_o this_o kingdom_n of_o england_n or_o the_o dominion_n of_o wales_n or_o town_n of_o berwick_n upon_o tweed_n but_o shall_v be_v utter_o disable_v and_o ipso_fw-la facto_fw-la deprive_v of_o the_o same_o presume_v to_o consecrate_v and_o administer_v the_o holy_a sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n before_o such_o time_n as_o he_o shall_v be_v ordain_v priest_n according_a to_o the_o form_n and_o manner_n in_o and_o by_o the_o say_a book_n prescribe_v unless_o he_o have_v former_o be_v make_v priest_n by_o episcopal_a ordination_n upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v for_o every_o offence_n the_o sum_n of_o one_o hundred_o pound_n one_o moiety_n thereof_o to_o the_o king_n majesty_n the_o other_o moiety_n thereof_o to_o be_v equal_o divide_v between_o the_o poor_a of_o the_o parish_n where_o the_o offence_n shall_v be_v commit_v and_o such_o person_n or_o person_n as_o shall_v sue_v for_o the_o same_o by_o action_n of_o debt_n bill_n plaint_n or_o information_n in_o any_o of_o his_o
