common-prayer_n provide_v that_o every_o minister_n as_o oft_o as_o he_o administer_v the_o communion_n shall_v first_o receive_v that_o sacrament_n himself_o furthermore_o no_o bread_n or_o wine_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n and_o every_o one_o of_o they_o to_o have_v the_o new_a testament_n not_o only_o in_o english_a but_o also_o in_o latin_n xliii_o dean_n and_o prebendary_n to_o preach_v during_o their_o residence_n the_o dean_n master_n warden_n or_o chief_a governor_n prebendary_n and_o canon_n in_o every_o cathedral_n and_o collegiate_n church_n shall_v not_o only_o preach_v there_o in_o their_o own_o person_n so_o often_o as_o they_o be_v bind_v by_o law_n statute_n ordinance_n or_o custom_n but_o shall_v likewise_o preach_v in_o other_o church_n of_o the_o same_o diocese_n where_o they_o be_v resident_n and_o especial_o in_o those_o place_n whence_o they_o or_o their_o church_n receive_v any_o yearly_a rent_n or_o profit_n and_o in_o case_n they_o themselves_o be_v sick_a or_o lawful_o absent_a they_o shall_v substitute_v such_o license_a preacher_n to_o supply_v their_o turn_n as_o by_o the_o bishop_n of_o the_o diocese_n shall_v be_v think_v meet_a to_o preach_v in_o cathedral_n church_n and_o if_o any_o otherwise_o neglect_n or_o omit_v to_o supply_v his_o course_n as_o be_v aforesaid_a the_o offender_n shall_v be_v punish_v by_o the_o bishop_n or_o by_o he_o or_o they_o to_o who_o the_o jurisdiction_n of_o that_o church_n appertain_v according_a to_o the_o quality_n of_o the_o offence_n xliv_o prebendary_n to_o be_v resident_a upon_o their_o benefice_n no_o prebendary_n nor_o canon_n in_o cathedral_n or_o collegiate_n church_n have_v one_o or_o more_o benefice_n with_o cure_n and_o not_o be_v residentiaries_n in_o the_o same_o cathedral_n or_o collegiate_n church_n shall_v under_o colour_n of_o their_o say_a prebend_n absent_v themselves_o from_o their_o benefice_n with_o cure_n above_o the_o space_n of_o one_o month_n in_o the_o who_o be_v or_o shall_v be_v residentiaries_n in_o any_o cathedral_n or_o collegiate_n church_n shall_v after_o the_o day_n of_o their_o residency_n appoint_v by_o their_o local_a statute_n or_o custom_n expire_v present_o repair_v to_o their_o benefice_n or_o some_o one_o of_o they_o or_o to_o some_o other_o charge_n where_o the_o
law_n require_v their_o presence_n there_o to_o discharge_v their_o duty_n according_a to_o the_o law_n in_o that_o case_n provide_v and_o the_o bishop_n of_o the_o diocese_n shall_v see_v the_o same_o to_o be_v due_o perform_v and_o put_v in_o execution_n xlv_o benefice_a preacher_n be_v resident_n upon_o their_o live_n to_o preach_v every_o sunday_n every_o benefice_a man_n allow_v to_o be_v a_o preacher_n and_o reside_v on_o his_o benefice_n have_v no_o lawful_a impediment_n shall_v in_o his_o own_o cure_n or_o in_o some_o other_o church_n or_o chappel_n where_o he_o may_v convenient_o near_o adjoin_v where_o no_o preacher_n be_v preach_v one_o sermon_n every_o sunday_n of_o the_o year_n wherein_o he_o shall_v sober_o and_o sincere_o divide_v the_o word_n of_o truth_n to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o to_o the_o best_a edification_n of_o the_o people_n xlvi_o benefice_a man_n not_o preacher_n to_o procure_v monthly_a sermon_n every_o benefice_a man_n not_o it_o but_o whosoever_o have_v two_o benefice_n shall_v maintain_v a_o preacher_n license_v in_o the_o benefice_n where_o he_o do_v not_o reside_v except_o he_o preach_v himself_o at_o both_o of_o they_o usual_o xlviii_o none_o to_o be_v curate_n but_o allow_v by_o the_o bishop_n no_o curate_n or_o minister_n shall_v be_v permit_v to_o serve_v in_o any_o place_n without_o examination_n and_o honesty_n ability_n and_o conformity_n to_o the_o ecclesiastical_a law_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n nor_o any_o shall_v serve_v more_o than_o one_o church_n or_o chapel_n upon_o one_o day_n except_o that_o chapel_n be_v a_o member_n of_o the_o parish_n church_n or_o unite_v thereunto_o and_o unless_o the_o say_a church_n or_o chapel_n where_o such_o a_o minister_n shall_v serve_v in_o two_o place_n be_v not_o able_a in_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o bishop_n or_o ordinary_a as_o aforesaid_a to_o maintain_v a_o curate_n xlix_o minister_n not_o allow_v preacher_n may_v not_o expound_v no_o person_n whatsoever_o not_o examine_v and_o approve_v by_o the_o bishop_n of_o the_o diocese_n or_o not_o license_v as_o be_v aforesaid_a for_o a_o sufficient_a or_o convenient_a preacher_n shall_v take_v upon_o he_o to_o expound_v in_o his_o own_o cure_n or_o elsewhere_o any_o scripture_n or_o matter_n of_o doctrine_n but_o shall_v only_o study_v to_o read_v plain_o and_o apt_o without_o gloss_v or_o add_v the_o homily_n already_o set_v forth_o or_o hereafter_o to_o be_v publish_v by_o lawful_a authority_n for_o the_o confirmation_n of_o the_o true_a faith_n and_o for_o the_o good_a instruction_n and_o edification_n of_o the_o people_n l._n stranger_n not_o admit_v to_o preach_v without_o show_v their_o licence_n neither_o the_o minister_n church_n warden_n nor_o any_o other_o officer_n of_o the_o church_n shall_v suffer_v any_o man_n to_o preach_v within_o their_o church_n or_o chapel_n but_o such_o as_o by_o show_v their_o licence_n to_o preach_v shall_v appear_v unto_o they_o to_o be_v sufficient_o authorize_v thereunto_o as_o be_v aforesaid_a li._n stranger_n not_o admit_v to_o preach_v in_o cathedral_n church_n without_o sufficient_a authority_n the_o dean_n precedent_n and_o residentiaries_n of_o any_o cathedral_n or_o collegiate_n church_n shall_v suffer_v no_o stranger_n to_o preach_v unto_o the_o people_n in_o their_o church_n except_o they_o be_v allow_v by_o the_o archbishop_n of_o the_o province_n or_o by_o the_o bishop_n of_o the_o same_o diocese_n or_o by_o either_o of_o the_o university_n and_o if_o any_o in_o his_o sermon_n shall_v publish_v any_o doctrine_n either_o strange_a or_o disagree_v from_o the_o word_n of_o god_n or_o from_o any_o of_o the_o article_n of_o religion_n agree_v upon_o in_o the_o convocation_n house_n anno_fw-la 1562._o or_o from_o the_o book_n of_o common_a prayer_n the_o dean_n or_o the_o resident_n shall_v by_o their_o letter_n subscribe_v with_o some_o of_o their_o hand_n that_o hear_v he_o so_o soon_o as_o may_v be_v give_v notice_n of_o the_o same_o to_o the_o bishop_n of_o the_o diocese_n that_o he_o may_v determine_v the_o matter_n and_o take_v such_o order_n therein_o as_o he_o shall_v think_v convenient_a lii_o the_o name_n of_o strange_a preacher_n to_o be_v note_v in_o a_o book_n that_o the_o bishop_n may_v understand_v if_o occasion_n so_o require_v what_o sermon_n be_v make_v in_o every_o church_n of_o his_o diocese_n and_o who_o presume_v to_o preach_v without_o licence_n the_o churchwarden_n and_o sideman_n shall_v see_v that_o the_o name_n of_o all_o preacher_n which_o come_v to_o their_o church_n from_o any_o other_o place_n be_v note_v in_o a_o book_n which_o they_o shall_v have_v ready_a for_o that_o purpose_n wherein_o every_o preacher_n shall_v subscribe_v his_o name_n the_o day_n wherein_o he_o preach_v and_o the_o name_n of_o the_o bishop_n of_o who_o he_o have_v licence_n to_o preach_v liii_o no_o public_a opposition_n between_o preacher_n if_o any_o preacher_n shall_v in_o the_o pulpit_n particular_o or_o namely_o of_o purpose_n impugn_v or_o confute_v any_o doctrine_n deliver_v by_o any_o other_o preacher_n in_o the_o same_o church_n or_o in_o any_o church_n near_o adjoin_v before_o he_o have_v acquaint_v the_o bishop_n of_o the_o diocese_n therewith_o and_o receive_v order_n what_o to_o do_v in_o that_o case_n because_o upon_o such_o public_a and_o dissent_v and_o contradict_v there_o may_v grow_v much_o offence_n and_o disquietness_n unto_o the_o people_n the_o churchwarden_n or_o party_n grieve_v shall_v forthwith_o signify_v the_o same_o to_o the_o say_a bishop_n and_o not_o suffer_v the_o say_a preacher_n any_o more_o to_o occupy_v that_o place_n which_o he_o have_v once_o abuse_v except_o
