that_o be_v sincere_a and_o persevere_v to_o the_o end_n and_o this_o likewise_o include_v all_o the_o special_a elect_n even_o all_o that_o believe_v and_o obey_v the_o gospel_n to_o the_o end_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o all_o must_v obtain_v the_o salvation_n of_o the_o gospel_n in_o the_o same_o way_n viz._n of_o faith_n obedience_n and_o perseverance_n matth._n 10._o 22._o of_o the_o election_n under_o this_o consideration_n viz._n of_o all_o that_o do_v believe_v and_o obey_v the_o gospel_n to_o the_o end_n it_o be_v declare_v in_o these_o and_o the_o like_a scripture_n joh._n 6._o 40._o &_o 3._o 16._o &_o 8._o 31._o rom._n 2._o 7._o heb._n 5._o 9_o col._n 1._o 21._o 23._o rev._n 22._o 14._o and_o this_o second_o election_n it_o be_v the_o apostle_n seem_v most_o to_o adhere_v unto_o both_o for_o himself_o and_o other_o because_o the_o first_o be_v a_o hide_a mystery_n no_o man_n know_v it_o in_o the_o first_o it_o be_v god_n only_o that_o know_v who_o be_v he_o we_o know_v our_o election_n by_o believe_v and_o obey_v the_o gospel_n 1_o pet._n 1._o 10._o the_o first_o we_o ought_v to_o believe_v but_o it_o be_v the_o second_o that_o we_o must_v stand_v same_o way_n viz._n to_o look_v to_o their_o constancy_n in_o the_o faith_n to_o the_o end_n rom._n 2._o 7._o 10._o col._n 1._o 21._o 23._o heb._n 3._o 6._o to_o prove_v that_o more_o may_v be_v save_v than_o the_o first_o and_o special_a elect_n and_o gift_n to_o christ_n i_o shall_v demonstrate_v from_o these_o follow_a ground_n 1._o we_o may_v not_o so_o understand_v particular_a and_o special_a election_n as_o to_o derogate_v from_o the_o universal_a grace_n and_o love_n of_o god_n to_o all_o man_n nor_o from_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o law_n of_o grace_n which_o call_v upon_o all_o and_o encourage_v all_o and_o promise_v life_n to_o all_o that_o do_v believe_v and_o obey_v the_o gospel_n which_o if_o we_o shall_v so_o understand_v election_n in_o the_o strict_a sense_n as_o to_o shut_v out_o all_o beside_o it_o will_v tend_v to_o contradict_v the_o gospel_n in_o the_o general_a tender_n of_o grace_n to_o all_o and_o so_o contradict_v a_o great_a part_n of_o the_o glorious_a and_o bless_a gospel_n of_o grace_n to_o man_n and_o be_v a_o great_a stumbling-block_n in_o the_o hopeful_a way_n of_o salvation_n and_o a_o great_a discouragement_n to_o poor_a sinner_n in_o their_o believe_v and_o obey_v the_o gospel_n therefore_o i_o say_v we_o may_v not_o so_o understand_v the_o decree_n of_o god_n which_o be_v secret_a as_o to_o make-null_n the_o plain_a declare_v will_n of_o god_n in_o the_o gospel_n 1_o tim._n 2._o 3_o 4._o but_o we_o be_v to_o preach_v the_o gospel_n and_o to_o assure_v sinner_n that_o if_o they_o believe_v and_o obey_v the_o lord_n therein_o they_o shall_v be_v save_v persevere_v therein_o to_o the_o end_n this_o be_v the_o gospel_n law_n of_o grace_n and_o will_v of_o the_o lord_n mark_v 16._o 15_o 16._o mat._n 10._o 22._o 2._o because_o the_o lord_n himself_o make_v this_o distinction_n with_o suitable_a promise_n alike_o to_o both_o i._n e._n he_o allow_v a_o latitude_n beyond_o the_o first_o and_o special_a election_n or_o gift_n to_o his_o son_n with_o promise_n of_o life_n on_o the_o universal_a account_n of_o grace_n joh._n 6._o 37._o there_o be_v first_o a_o description_n of_o the_o first_o and_o special_a gift_n all_o that_o the_o father_n give_v i_o shall_v come_v to_o i_o 2._o a_o encouragement_n to_o all_o comer_n and_o he_o that_o come_v to_o i_o i_o will_v in_o no_o wise_a cast_v out_o he_o that_o be_v every_o one_o that_o come_v for_o it_o can_v right_o be_v suppose_v that_o he_o that_o come_v etc._n etc._n be_v a_o promise_n to_o the_o first_o gift_n for_o they_o shall_v come_v i._n e._n believe_v and_o obey_v the_o gospel_n and_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n of_o their_o be_v cast_v out_o that_o be_v give_v and_o shall_v come_v but_o to_o prevent_v a_o doubt_n that_o may_v arise_v from_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o first_o gift_n the_o second_o promise_n follow_v to_o assure_v we_o that_o the_o special_a gift_n no_o whit_n derogate_v from_o the_o freedom_n of_o universal_a grace_n and_o v._o 39_o 40._o more_o full_o confirm_v the_o same_o truth_n v._o 39_o christ_n state_n the_o first_o gift_n &_o they_o shall_v come_v this_o be_v the_o father_n will_n which_o have_v send_v i_o that_o of_o all_o which_o he_o have_v give_v i_o i_o shall_v lose_v nothing_o but_o shall_v raise_v it_o up_o again_o at_o the_o last_o day_n and_o v._o 40._o declare_v the_o universal_a grace_n and_o matth._n 11._o 28._o isa_n 55._o 1_o 2_o 3_o 6_o 7._o rev._n 22._o 17._o 3._o suitable_a to_o this_o be_v we_o to_o understand_v the_o book_n of_o life_n mention_v in_o the_o scripture_n 1._o of_o god_n foreknowledge_n and_o election_n to_o the_o special_a and_o espouse_a relation_n to_o his_o son_n heb._n 12._o 23._o rev._n 13._o 8._o and_o 17._o 8._o and_o 21._o 27._o 2._o it_o intend_v the_o
