england_n which_o be_v no_o part_n of_o the_o reform_a religion_n and_o can_v these_o be_v alter_v and_o abolish_v whilst_o that_o be_v preserve_v where_o then_o be_v the_o contradiction_n 2._o absolute_o and_o without_o exception_n to_o preserve_v covenant_n 2_o contradiction_n charge_v on_o the_o covenant_n and_o yet_o upon_o supposition_n to_o extirpate_v the_o selfsame_a thing_n viz._n the_o present_a religion_n of_o the_o church_n of_o scotland_n i_o want_v sir_n their_o eye_n to_o read_v this_o contradiction_n the_o first_o part_n to_o preserve_v be_v legible_a in_o the_o covenant_n but_o to_o extirpate_v the_o present_a religion_n in_o the_o church_n of_o scotland_n i_o read_v not_o oh_o but_o they_o tell_v we_o it_o be_v on_o a_o supposition_n but_o i_o suppose_v that_o supposition_n must_v be_v express_v in_o plain_a term_n in_o the_o covenant_n to_o make_v a_o contradictory_n part_n thereof_o the_o extirpation_n covenant_v relate_v to_o popery_n prelacy_n error_n heresy_n schism_n etc._n etc._n which_o of_o those_o can_v we_o suppose_v the_o present_a religion_n of_o scotland_n to_o be_v they_o will_v bring_v good_a compurgator_n for_o every_o of_o they_o i_o know_v the_o university_n do_v suppose_v 4._o suppose_v reason_n sect_n 4_o p._n 4._o there_o be_v some_o thing_n in_o the_o church_n of_o scotland_n which_o to_o their_o think_n do_v tend_v to_o schism_n and_o superstition_n yet_o they_o dare_v not_o charge_v it_o do_v but_o suppose_v it_o and_o that_o not_o to_o be_v but_o tend_v towards_o superstition_n and_o schism_n and_o they_o do_v not_o affirm_v they_o neither_o to_o be_v the_o religion_n of_o scotland_n such_o suppose_a extirpation_n may_v suppose_v a_o contradiction_n just_o deserve_v to_o be_v charge_v to_o be_v a_o suppositum_fw-la non_fw-la supponendum_fw-la their_o next_o contradiction_n be_v as_o clear_v a_o supposition_n as_o this_o covenant_n 3._o contradiction_n charge_v on_o the_o covenant_n to_o reform_v church-government_n in_o england_n and_o ireland_n according_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o to_o extirpate_v that_o we_o be_v persuade_v be_v according_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n here_o it_o be_v visible_a the_o contradiction_n be_v between_o the_o covenant_n and_o their_o persuasion_n not_o one_o part_n against_o another_o part_n of_o itself_o how_o wellgrounded_n their_o persuasion_n be_v we_o have_v before_o inquire_v i_o shall_v therefore_o only_o tell_v they_o it_o be_v not_o fair_a play_n to_o beg_v the_o question_n and_o on_o their_o own_o persuasion_n to_o arraign_v the_o covenant_n as_o a_o oath_n contradictory_n to_o itself_o yet_o the_o next_o be_v of_o the_o very_a same_o nature_n covenant_n 4._o contradiction_n charge_v on_o the_o covenant_n to_o extirpate_v heresy_n schism_n and_o profaneness_n and_o yet_o to_o extirpate_v the_o government_n we_o conceive_v the_o want_n of_o which_o be_v the_o chief_a cause_n of_o all_o evil_n and_o the_o restore_n and_o continuance_n of_o which_o the_o proper_a and_o effectual_a remedy_n sure_o
