entersares_fw-la with_o no_o law_n of_o god_n whatever_o and_o can_v have_v no_o pretence_n therefore_o to_o entrench_v upon_o the_o conscience_n or_o upon_o any_o prior_n obligation_n or_o duty_n that_o a_o man_n owe_v unto_o god_n and_o as_o it_o must_v for_o all_o these_o reason_n be_v necessary_o and_o indispensible_o obey_v and_o submit_v unto_o by_o all_o his_o subject_n so_o on_o the_o contrary_a a_o prince_n especial_o as_o a_o protestant_n can_v put_v out_o no_o law_n about_o divine_a worship_n but_o his_o subject_n so_o far_o as_o they_o be_v protestant_n be_v bind_v in_o conscience_n and_o by_o the_o very_a principle_n of_o that_o religion_n which_o they_o profess_v not_o only_o to_o consider_v it_o but_o to_o examine_v it_o whether_o it_o be_v agreeable_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n or_o not_o and_o if_o it_o appear_v not_o to_o be_v such_o at_o least_o according_a to_o the_o best_a of_o their_o understanding_n as_o they_o will_v have_v a_o plea_n always_o not_o to_o submit_v to_o it_o by_o reason_n it_o intrench_v upon_o a_o prior_n obligation_n that_o they_o have_v both_o in_o conscience_n and_o according_a to_o the_o principle_n of_o their_o reformation_n unto_o god_n and_o according_a also_o to_o the_o six_o article_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n itself_o so_o this_o plea_n can_v well_o with_o justice_n be_v deny_v they_o if_o no_o crime_n whatever_o in_o their_o conversation_n can_v be_v prove_v against_o they_o nor_o can_v man_n in_o this_o case_n be_v actual_o punish_v and_o proceed_v against_o without_o the_o sense_n and_o grief_n of_o that_o wrong_n or_o oppression_n that_o be_v manifest_o do_v to_o they_o and_o suffer_v by_o they_o especial_o see_v their_o nonconformity_n to_o the_o say_a law_n proceed_v not_o as_o we_o say_v either_o from_o their_o election_n or_o liberty_n nor_o yet_o from_o any_o breach_n of_o duty_n or_o affection_n to_o their_o prince_n but_o only_o from_o what_o appear_v to_o they_o to_o be_v a_o inevitable_a or_o indispensible_a necessity_n that_o arise_v and_o be_v occasion_v from_o their_o mere_a profession_n as_o they_o be_v of_o the_o protestant_a religion_n to_o which_o end_n let_v i_o humble_o beg_v leave_v to_o offer_v one_o argument_n more_o also_o which_o be_v that_o the_o thing_n which_o do_v essential_o distinguish_v a_o protestant_n from_o a_o papist_n more_o than_o any_o note_n mark_v or_o character_n whatsoever_o beside_o be_v that_o a_o papist_n by_o his_o principle_n as_o a_o papist_n may_v not_o and_o indeed_o can_v dispute_v any_o law_n whatever_o relate_v to_o the_o worship_n or_o service_n of_o god_n provide_v it_o be_v declare_v and_o establish_v by_o what_o he_o acknowledge_v to_o be_v the_o church_n because_o he_o take_v the_o authority_n of_o the_o church_n for_o the_o whole_a argument_n or_o for_o the_o only_a foundation_n of_o all_o his_o obidence_n unto_o god_n rather_o than_o the_o divine_a authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n or_o word_n and_o because_o he_o presume_v the_o church_n also_o to_o be_v a_o thing_n altogether_o holy_a and_o such_o as_o neither_o have_v err_v nor_o can_v err_v for_o shall_v he_o question_v this_o he_o must_v question_v the_o whole_a of_o his_o religion_n itself_o whereas_o the_o protestant_a church_n on_o the_o other_o hand_n have_v separate_v from_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n not_o only_o upon_o the_o supposition_n that_o she_o have_v actual_o err_v but_o that_o she_o have_v be_v gross_o corrupt_v as_o well_o in_o manner_n as_o in_o faith_n and_o have_v for_o the_o better_a justification_n of_o her_o own_o practice_n both_o in_o matter_n of_o worship_n and_o in_o all_o thing_n relate_v to_o doctrine_n and_o faith_n set_v up_o the_o scripture_n as_o the_o sole_a and_o sovereign_a rule_n of_o god_n mind_n and_o will_n to_o his_o church_n as_o she_o can_v challenge_v the_o exercise_n of_o any_o authority_n therefore_o that_o be_v beyond_o that_o of_o the_o scripture_n or_o of_o any_o that_o be_v not_o subordinate_a to_o the_o scripture_n itself_o so_o it_o be_v expect_v that_o all_o the_o duty_n consequent_o which_o she_o require_v and_o all_o those_o article_n or_o point_n of_o faith_n which_o she_o at_o any_o time_n recommend_v to_o such_o as_o be_v the_o member_n of_o she_o shall_v always_o be_v enforce_v from_o those_o argument_n proper_o and_o only_o which_o be_v draw_v from_o the_o scripture_n because_o it_o be_v this_o which_o she_o herself_o have_v appeal_v unto_o and_o this_o only_a which_o she_o challenge_v to_o justify_v she_o a_o protestant_n then_o that_o understand_v the_o ground_n of_o religion_n or_o that_o have_v be_v at_o all_o instruct_v in_o the_o rise_n or_o principle_n of_o reformation_n take_v this_o for_o the_o very_a first_o article_n of_o his_o faith_n that_o a_o church_n may_v err_v and_o may_v have_v corruption_n in_o it_o and_o may_v in_o its_o worship_n possible_o swerve_v and_o depart_v from_o the_o pure_a mind_n word_n and_o wisdom_n of_o god_n and_o lay_v this_o no_o less_o firm_o as_o the_o foundation_n of_o his_o belief_n on_o the_o other_o hand_n viz._n that_o the_o scripture_n can_v err_v nor_o can_v be_v other_o than_o unalterable_a and_o incorruptible_a rule_n of_o god_n law_n and_o of_o his_o will_n and_o mind_n to_o his_o people_n he_o can_v possible_o hold_v the_o authority_n of_o the_o church_n to_o be_v divine_a any_o further_a or_o otherwise_o than_o as_o it_o appear_v to_o be_v clear_o ground_v upon_o the_o scripture_n as_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o consequent_o the_o tie_n or_o obligation_n which_o he_o have_v to_o obey_v the_o church_n so_o far_o as_o it_o relate_v to_o the_o conscience_n and_o bind_v the_o conscience_n arise_v out_o of_o no_o other_o ground_n than_o from_o the_o conformity_n which_o he_o see_v or_o be_v persuade_v that_o the_o church_n have_v in_o her_o law_n order_n and_o doctrine_n to_o the_o say_a word_n and_o consequent_o if_o this_o conformity_n do_v or_o shall_v once_o cease_v in_o the_o say_a church_n a_o protestant_n as_o a_o protestant_n can_v but_o judge_v his_o tie_n or_o obligation_n to_o she_o as_o a_o church_n ought_v to_o cease_v also_o with_o it_o and_o this_o be_v the_o true_a state_n of_o that_o radical_a or_o essential_a difference_n that_o be_v between_o the_o principle_n of_o a_o protestant_n and_o the_o principle_n of_o a_o papist_n as_o a_o papist_n if_o a_o church_n then_o that_o profess_v herself_o to_o be_v a_o protestant_n or_o the_o clergy_n rather_o who_o be_v the_o ruler_n proper_o of_o it_o shall_v not_o much_o consider_v or_o regard_v the_o justify_n of_o what_o law_n and_o order_n she_o make_v by_o the_o consonancy_n they_o express_o have_v to_o the_o law_n or_o mind_n of_o god_n in_o his_o word_n which_o be_v his_o rule_n to_o the_o church_n nor_o shall_v much_o concern_v itself_o to_o clear_v and_o enforce_v the_o faith_n and_o doctrine_n which_o she_o hold_v by_o the_o evidence_n of_o its_o truth_n or_o by_o the_o authority_n of_o it_o as_o sufficient_o ground_v upon_o that_o word_n that_o be_v absolute_o divine_a but_o shall_v on_o the_o contrary_a in_o whatsoever_o she_o command_v or_o in_o the_o thing_n she_o teach_v constrain_v and_o exact_v a_o obedience_n from_o her_o member_n to_o herself_o and_o to_o her_o own_o authority_n as_o absolute_a and_o as_o unsubordinate_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o to_o her_o own_o authority_n as_o it_o be_v a_o distinct_a thing_n from_o the_o say_a word_n that_o church_n or_o the_o clergy_n rather_o which_o be_v the_o ruler_n of_o it_o so_o far_o as_o she_o do_v this_o in_o any_o doctrine_n or_o in_o any_o law_n that_o she_o make_v indispensible_a do_v so_o far_o cease_v in_o her_o principle_n and_o practice_n to_o be_v protestant_n and_o do_v so_o far_o disclaim_v not_o only_o a_o main_a and_o chief_a ground_n of_o her_o separation_n from_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n but_o the_o very_a principle_n itself_o upon_o which_o she_o pretend_v to_o guide_v herself_o and_o justify_v herself_o in_o her_o reformation_n for_o if_o it_o can_v be_v deny_v that_o this_o be_v one_o main_a and_o great_a cause_n of_o our_o separation_n from_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n viz._n because_o she_o have_v make_v herself_o and_o her_o command_n absolute_a and_o have_v set_v up_o a_o authority_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o worship_n and_o faith_n above_o that_o of_o the_o scripture_n as_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o second_o because_o she_o do_v not_o
suffering_n groan_n and_o complaint_n of_o divers_a other_o that_o be_v pour_v out_o in_o the_o very_a bitterness_n of_o their_o soul_n unto_o god_n and_o when_o the_o say_v protestant_a church_n or_o the_o say_v rule_v clergy_n shall_v nevertheless_o have_v no_o sense_n at_o all_o of_o these_o thing_n nor_o seem_v to_o be_v in_o the_o least_o â—…oved_v or_o concern_v for_o they_o and_o these_o thing_n if_o they_o be_v consider_v i_o humble_o offer_v it_o whether_o any_o man_n as_o rational_a can_v draw_v any_o other_o conclusion_n from_o they_o but_o that_o the_o say_v protestant_a church_n etc._n etc._n do_v not_o believe_v themselves_o at_o all_o when_o they_o write_v against_o the_o papist_n for_o these_o thing_n and_o notwithstanding_o they_o do_v seem_v in_o their_o book_n to_o threaten_v the_o church_n of_o rome_n with_o the_o dreadful_a judgement_n of_o god_n because_o of_o their_o cruelty_n and_o of_o their_o persecution_n of_o man_n for_o conscience_n sake_n yet_o they_o do_v indeed_o but_o laugh_v in_o their_o sleeve_n at_o it_o and_o do_v intend_v to_o frighten_v they_o only_o with_o scare-crow_n bugbear_n and_o potgun_n see_v they_o credit_v none_o of_o these_o thing_n themselves_o as_o likely_a to_o befall_v any_o such_o action_n or_o such_o as_o be_v the_o author_n of_o it_o for_o will_v it_o not_o be_v a_o great_a uncharitableness_n for_o any_o man_n to_o imagine_v or_o rather_o will_v it_o not_o be_v a_o thing_n very_o absurd_a to_o apprehend_v that_o the_o protestant_a clergy_n shall_v do_v the_o very_a same_o thing_n which_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n do_v if_o they_o do_v real_o believe_v themselves_o in_o what_o they_o usual_o write_v against_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n when_o they_o threaten_v they_o with_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n upon_o they_o for_o the_o say_a thing_n if_o to_o avoid_v this_o then_o which_o they_o may_v look_v upon_o perhaps_o as_o some_o imputation_n or_o reflection_n upon_o the_o say_a protestant_n church_n or_o the_o roll_a clergy_n of_o it_o shall_v deny_v the_o case_n to_o be_v the_o same_o and_o shall_v say_v that_o the_o ground_n or_o principle_n upon_o which_o they_o persecute_v man_n be_v much_o different_a from_o those_o of_o the_o papist_n or_o church_n of_o rome_n let_v themselves_o lie_v down_o the_o state_n of_o it_o and_o show_v we_o wherein_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o say_a difference_n do_v consist_v and_o wherein_o it_o be_v plain_o such_o and_o so_o great_a as_o that_o though_o we_o be_v to_o believe_v and_o aught_o to_o believe_v that_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n will_v unquestionable_o reach_v the_o church_n of_o rome_n for_o this_o their_o cruelty_n and_o persecution_n and_o for_o the_o unrighteousness_n of_o it_o yet_o we_o be_v not_o to_o believe_v or_o so_o much_o as_o to_o imagine_v they_o will_v ever_o befall_v the_o protestant_a church_n or_o the_o roll_a clergy_n of_o it_o notwithstanding_o any_o persecution_n that_o they_o be_v guilty_a of_o for_o if_o the_o fact_n for_o which_o man_n be_v punish_v by_o the_o say_a protestant_n clergy_n be_v the_o very_a same_o or_o of_o the_o same_o nature_n with_o that_o for_o which_o the_o popish_a clergy_n do_v punish_v man_n viz._n for_o their_o worship_v of_o god_n and_o for_o their_o worship_v of_o he_o not_o contrary_a to_o the_o scripture_n or_o contrary_a to_o any_o thing_n that_o seem_v clear_o and_o plain_o their_o duty_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o contrary_a only_o to_o some_o order_n or_o other_o in_o the_o church_n and_o if_o the_o quality_n of_o the_o person_n that_o do_v suffer_v and_o that_o be_v punish_v by_o the_o protestant_a clergy_n be_v the_o same_o also_o with_o the_o quality_n of_o those_o that_o be_v punish_v by_o the_o popish_a clergy_n viz._n such_o man_n as_o be_v neither_o unblamable_a in_o nor_o so_o much_o as_o accuse_v or_o charge_v by_o they_o with_o or_o for_o any_o crime_n or_o any_o immorality_n in_o their_o life_n or_o conversation_n but_o such_o as_o otherwise_o demean_v themselves_o in_o all_o duty_n and_o with_o all_o subjection_n to_o their_o superior_n i_o say_v if_o both_o these_o be_v the_o very_a same_o one_o with_o another_o where_o can_v or_o do_v the_o essential_a difference_n â—e_v between_o the_o persecution_n of_o the_o popish_a clergy_n and_o the_o persecution_n of_o the_o protestant_a clergy_n or_o between_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o one_o and_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o other_o unless_o it_o be_v strict_o in_o this_o viz._n that_o the_o protestant_a clergy_n do_v pretend_v to_o believe_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o supreme_a rule_n and_o mind_n of_o god_n to_o his_o church_n and_o if_o ask_v do_v free_o grant_v that_o man_n be_v not_o bind_v in_o conscience_n to_o any_o rule_n superior_a to_o this_o nor_o can_v be_v in_o the_o thing_n of_o faith_n or_o in_o thing_n relate_v to_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o with_o the_o same_o breath_n that_o they_o say_v this_o and_o at_o the_o very_a same_o time_n that_o they_o own_v it_o they_o persecute_v their_o brethren_n not_o only_o in_o their_o liberty_n but_o in_o the_o r_o good_n fortune_n and_o estate_n and_o sometime_o in_o their_o life_n also_o through_o nasty_a prison_n and_o want_v of_o convenience_n for_o acknowledge_v the_o say_a scripture_n to_o be_v such_o as_o they_o themselves_o own_o to_o be_v and_o for_o that_o they_o conform_v themselves_o to_o it_o according_o not_o in_o word_n or_o pretence_n but_o in_o deed_n and_o truth_n whereas_o the_o popish_a clergy_n though_o they_o persecute_v man_n for_o the_o same_o crime_n yet_o they_o do_v not_o give_v so_o much_o honour_n to_o the_o scripture_n nor_o do_v so_o much_o as_o pretend_v to_o it_o but_o which_o of_o these_o two_o be_v for_o this_o very_a cause_n the_o great_a crime_n before_o god_n i_o must_v leave_v to_o rational_a man_n to_o consider_v in_o the_o mean_a time_n i_o be_o most_o sure_a of_o this_o viz._n that_o whether_o our_o first_o reformer_n do_v well_o or_o not_o well_o in_o call_v the_o church_n of_o rome_n antichrist_n and_o in_o charge_v she_o with_o innocent_a blood_n and_o in_o put_v the_o name_n of_o the_o scarlet_a whore_n for_o this_o reason_n upon_o she_o and_o whether_o the_o guilt_n of_o that_o blood_n will_v ever_o be_v wipe_v off_o from_o she_o or_o not_o in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n yet_o notwithstanding_o it_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o the_o peculiar_a stain_n and_o discredit_v of_o it_o be_v now_o manifest_o lessen_v if_o it_o be_v not_o whole_o blot_v out_o for_o it_o be_v impossible_a that_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n shall_v ever_o hereafter_o grant_v these_o thing_n to_o be_v stain_n or_o crime_n proper_a only_o to_o she_o which_o she_o do_v not_o only_o see_v but_o can_v daily_o observe_v the_o protestant_a church_n to_o follow_v she_o in_o and_o to_o follow_v she_o in_o upon_o such_o ground_n as_o be_v far_o less_o justifiable_a in_o the_o say_a protestant_n church_n according_a to_o the_o principle_n they_o profess_v than_o they_o be_v in_o herself_o and_o that_o this_o be_v not_o a_o thing_n ever_o to_o be_v hope_v or_o expect_v from_o she_o hereafter_o be_v the_o more_o clear_a in_o regard_n the_o say_a church_n of_o rome_n have_v already_o in_o so_o many_o word_n sharp_o and_o close_o retort_v it_o upon_o our_o very_a church_n that_o in_o the_o very_a thing_n which_o we_o blame_v the_o say_a church_n of_o rome_n for_o and_o accuse_v she_o criminal_o of_o and_o pretend_v to_o be_v one_o main_a ground_n why_o we_o can_v no_o long_o have_v any_o communion_n with_o she_o which_o be_v she_o set_v aside_o the_o sole_a authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o persecute_v such_o as_o desire_v to_o walk_v according_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o it_o we_o ourselves_o have_v not_o only_o imitate_v she_o but_o have_v outgo_v she_o and_o do_v so_o much_o worse_a than_o she_o ever_o do_v by_o how_o much_o we_o have_v contradict_v the_o principle_n we_o profess_v which_o she_o have_v not_o and_o that_o she_o have_v not_o only_o cast_v this_o reproach_n upon_o we_o in_o word_n but_o allege_v several_a argument_n to_o confirm_v and_o such_o as_o have_v not_o to_o this_o very_a day_n be_v answer_v by_o we_o be_v matter_n of_o fact_n and_o therefore_o if_o in_o all_o court_n of_o judicature_n matter_n of_o fact_n be_v good_a evidence_n and_o if_o the_o high_a evidence_n that_o can_v be_v give_v in_o matter_n of_o fact_n be_v when_o the_o fact_n be_v able_a to_o speak_v and_o attest_v itself_o or_o when_o it_o be_v capable_a to_o be_v attest_v to_o by_o thousand_o then_o be_v the_o evidence_n which_o i_o here_o bring_v every_o way_n as_o good_a and_o every_o way_n as_o valid_a to_o prove_v what_o i_o affirm_v which_o for_o the_o great_a notice_n i_o again_o here_o repeat_v viz._n that_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n have_v express_o justify_v herself_o from_o the_o crime_n of_o unjust_a persecution_n and_o blood_n by_o instance_v our_o practice_n of_o the_o same_o thing_n one_o towards_o another_o as_o protestant_n or_o as_o a_o reform_a church_n and_o therefore_o that_o she_o have_v by_o this_o instance_n just_o exonerate_v herself_o from_o the_o sole_a guilt_n of_o this_o evil_a and_o consequent_o from_o the_o sole_a guilt_n of_o she_o be_v that_o babylon_n mention_v rev._n 17._o which_o we_o have_v former_o fix_v single_o upon_o she_o and_o attribute_v to_o none_o beside_o she_o and_o that_o beside_o the_o discharge_n herself_o from_o the_o sole_a and_o only_a guilt_n of_o this_o against_o she_o and_o revile_v she_o that_o these_o argument_n she_o have_v no_o way_n scruple_v public_o and_o open_o to_o divulge_v in_o english_a to_o the_o end_n that_o every_o man_n that_o be_v rational_a may_v the_o 〈◊〉_d examine_v they_o consider_v they_o and_o judge_v of_o they_o and_o that_o we_o have_v not_o plead_v as_o yet_o to_o the_o say_a argument_n or_o to_o the_o retorsion_n to_o the_o end_n therefore_o that_o i_o may_v with_o all_o clearness_n represent_v the_o difficulty_n that_o do_v attend_v the_o protestant_a religion_n with_o the_o government_n of_o it_o as_o thing_n now_o stand_v i_o shall_v humble_o crave_v leave_n to_o lay_v down_o this_o as_o the_o foundation_n of_o my_o whole_a argument_n which_o i_o humble_o conceive_v will_n hardly_o be_v deny_v i_o by_o any_o viz_o that_o in_o the_o protestant_a church_n the_o prince_n profess_v himself_o to_o be_v of_o the_o reform_a religion_n can_v any_o way_n remove_v or_o take_v away_o the_o use_n of_o the_o scripture_n from_o the_o common_a people_n the_o use_n or_o restoration_n of_o they_o in_o the_o vulgar_a tongue_n be_v account_v one_o main_a part_n if_o not_o the_o chief_a privilege_n of_o any_o that_o come_v by_o the_o reformation_n itself_o which_o be_v grant_v i_o another_o difficulty_n be_v create_v by_o it_o inevitable_o for_o see_v the_o prince_n be_v no_o way_n able_a to_o remove_v the_o use_n of_o the_o scripture_n from_o the_o common_a people_n he_o can_v never_o possible_o be_v able_a to_o remove_v the_o influence_n and_o effect_n which_o the_o divine_a authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n must_v have_v and_o can_v but_o have_v upon_o the_o mind_n and_o conscience_n of_o the_o say_a people_n as_o the_o scripture_n be_v acknowledge_v to_o be_v the_o only_a word_n the_o alone_a rule_n of_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n unto_o his_o people_n this_o character_n or_o apprehension_n of_o the_o dignity_n and_o authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n be_v so_o essential_a to_o our_o reformation_n itself_o that_o there_o be_v no_o protestant_n can_v so_o much_o as_o doubt_v of_o it_o it_o be_v that_o which_o be_v not_o only_o common_o teach_v in_o our_o pulpit_n but_o frequent_o inculcate_v to_o we_o while_o we_o be_v child_n by_o our_o parent_n and_o by_o those_o master_n which_o take_v the_o care_n of_o we_o while_o we_o be_v at_o school_n and_o therefore_o this_o principle_n of_o the_o divine_a authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n be_v from_o our_o very_a education_n thus_o firm_o root_v in_o we_o it_o must_v unavoidable_o make_v the_o influence_n and_o effect_n to_o be_v equal_o as_o strong_a and_o equal_o as_o powerful_a upon_o the_o conscience_n of_o we_o even_o as_o they_o themselves_o be_v that_o be_v equal_a with_o the_o very_a authority_n of_o god_n himself_o and_o especial_o upon_o all_o such_o as_o re_fw-mi religious_o educate_v and_o breed_v so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o obligation_n or_o tie_v what_o ever_o which_o be_v capable_a to_o be_v lay_v on_o man_n upon_o any_o civil_a outward_a or_o temporal_a account_n that_o be_v able_a to_o have_v any_o part_n of_o that_o strength_n or_o influence_n upon_o they_o as_o the_o scripture_n must_v necessary_o have_v upon_o and_o over_o the_o generality_n of_o all_o person_n in_o the_o protestant_a church_n which_o be_v another_o consequence_n that_o can_v be_v remove_v by_o the_o civil_a government_n the_o strength_n and_o prevalency_n of_o which_o tie_n as_o make_v upon_o the_o conscience_n of_o all_o person_n as_o protestant_n by_o or_o from_o the_o scripture_n be_v yet_o the_o more_o considerable_a because_o whatever_o worship_n service_n or_o religion_n we_o as_o protestant_n do_v profess_v to_o give_v unto_o god_n we_o profess_v it_o only_o from_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n themselves_o and_o from_o the_o authority_n of_o they_o as_o they_o be_v thus_o own_v and_o account_v by_o the_o protestant_a church_n to_o be_v our_o supreme_a and_o consequent_o our_o immediate_a tie_n in_o all_o that_o we_o believe_v and_o in_o all_o that_o we_o act_n as_o protestant_n towards_o god_n have_v not_o its_o termination_n or_o its_o dependence_n so_o much_o upon_o man_n or_o upon_o the_o church_n as_o upon_o the_o scripture_n or_o word_n of_o god_n itself_o we_o judge_v it_o lawful_a enough_o to_o forsake_v the_o church_n when_o we_o once_o judge_v the_o church_n in_o what_o it_o believe_v or_o in_o what_o it_o act_n or_o practise_v towards_o god_n to_o have_v forsake_v the_o word_n and_o our_o procession_n or_o religion_n be_v thus_o found_v i_o mean_v out_o of_o conscience_n pure_o to_o god_n word_n every_o man_n then_o proper_o as_o a_o protestant_n if_o he_o be_v sincere_a do_v as_o much_o believe_v that_o the_o worship_n whatever_o it_o be_v which_o he_o profess_v be_v as_o true_o agreeable_a to_o the_o mind_n and_o will_n of_o god_n as_o be_v the_o very_a scripture_n itself_o and_o consequent_o that_o he_o be_v as_o much_o to_o contend_v for_o the_o say_a worship_n as_o he_o be_v bind_v to_o contend_v for_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n itself_o for_o these_o two_o be_v take_v by_o he_o but_o for_o one_o thing_n viz._n the_o authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o the_o truth_n and_o authority_n of_o what_o he_o profess_v consequent_o the_o same_o tie_n that_o bind_v he_o to_o the_o scripture_n must_v of_o necessity_n bound_v he_o to_o that_o religion_n whatever_o it_o be_v which_o he_o as_o a_o protestant_n profess_v unto_o god_n and_o consequent_o if_o there_o be_v no_o tie_n so_o firm_a or_o so_o strong_a upon_o the_o conscience_n as_o that_o of_o the_o divine_a and_o absolute_a authority_n of_o the_o scripture_n be_v as_o we_o have_v prove_v there_o be_v not_o there_o can_v be_v no_o tie_n strong_a than_o what_o protestant_n as_o such_o and_o as_o sincere_a must_v necessary_o have_v for_o that_o religion_n whatever_o it_o be_v that_o they_o do_v respective_o profess_v unto_o god_n and_o this_o now_o be_v make_v clear_a and_o undoubted_a viz._n that_o the_o tie_n and_o obligation_n that_o every_o man_n have_v to_o the_o worship_n which_o he_o profess_v unto_o god_n proper_o as_o a_o protestant_n lie_v in_o and_o rise_v immediate_o from_o the_o scripture_n and_o it_o be_v likewise_o clear_v that_o the_o high_a tie_n which_o can_v possible_o be_v lay_v upon_o the_o conscience_n of_o any_o man_n be_v that_o proceed_n from_o the_o scripture_n as_o they_o be_v the_o only_a rule_n of_o god_n mind_n and_o will_n to_o we_o it_o must_v necessary_o follow_v that_o if_o a_o prince_n can_v neither_o remove_v the_o use_n of_o the_o scripture_n themselves_o nor_o remove_v the_o obligation_n which_o they_o have_v above_o all_o thing_n upon_o the_o conscience_n of_o man_n even_o from_o their_o very_a education_n as_o they_o be_v the_o only_a word_n of_o god_n he_o can_v never_o possible_o remove_v the_o obedience_n which_o man_n will_v always_o conceive_v themselves_o oblige_v to_o give_v to_o the_o say_a word_n in_o whatsoever_o it_o be_v they_o apprehend_v it_o do_v clear_o command_v see_v this_o obedience_n be_v look_v upon_o to_o be_v the_o same_o and_o no_o other_o with_o a_o obedience_n give_v to_o god_n himself_o and_o if_o a_o obedience_n give_v unto_o god_n be_v in_o conscience_n also_o infinite_o preferable_a to_o any_o obedience_n to_o man_n then_o must_v a_o obligation_n to_o the_o law_n and_o will_n of_o god_n be_v always_o preferable_a to_o and_o strong_a than_o any_o obligation_n whatever_o to_o the_o law_n or_o command_n of_o man_n which_o be_v a_o three_o thing_n that_o can_v no_o way_n possible_o be_v avoid_v and_o consequent_o if_o the_o law_n of_o the_o church_n can_v in_o the_o matter_n of_o worship_n any_o way_n compel_v or_o bind_v man_n to_o obedience_n further_o or_o otherwise_o than_o as_o they_o apprehend_v it_o to_o be_v agreeable_a to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n or_o to_o the_o law_n of_o his_o word_n than_o neither_o can_v the_o law_n of_o the_o prince_n or_o the_o law_n of_o the_o civil_a government_n bound_v man_n conscience_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o worship_n further_o or_o otherwise_o than_o the_o law_n of_o the_o church_n viz._n no_o otherwise_o than_o as_o the_o say_a law_n appear_v to_o they_o to_o be_v agreeable_a to_o god_n law_n which_o be_v the_o law_n of_o his_o scripture_n or_o word_n and_o consequent_o it_o can_v never_o be_v avoid_v by_o any_o prince_n as_o a_o protestant_n but_o his_o authority_n as_o relate_v pure_o to_o thing_n civil_a with_o the_o efficacy_n of_o it_o must_v stand_v upon_o one_o rule_n his_o authority_n as_o relate_v to_o thing_n of_o divine_a worship_n with_o the_o efficacy_n of_o it_o must_v necessary_o and_o unavoidable_o stand_v upon_o another_o rule_n and_o therefore_o that_o his_o authority_n over_o his_o subject_n in_o the_o one_o and_o in_o the_o other_o of_o these_o must_v of_o
necessity_n be_v distinguish_v which_o be_v the_o four_o thing_n that_o we_o say_v can_v in_o any_o protestant_a government_n possible_o be_v prevent_v for_o if_o no_o law_n can_v possible_o eradicate_v the_o notion_n that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n no_o endeavour_n of_o man_n whatever_o can_v hinder_v then_o his_o be_v worship_v by_o such_o at_o least_o as_o have_v a_o sense_n of_o his_o be_v and_o do_v very_o believe_v that_o he_o be_v wherefore_o if_o we_o be_v train_v up_o from_o our_o childhood_n and_o train_v up_o not_o only_o as_o man_n but_o as_o protestant_n firm_o to_o believe_v that_o god_n will_v accept_v of_o no_o worship_n at_o all_o from_o we_o but_o what_o be_v agreeable_a to_o his_o word_n and_o if_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n continual_o inculcate_v to_o we_o even_o from_o our_o very_a infancy_n that_o it_o be_v in_o a_o conformity_n to_o this_o word_n alone_o that_o all_o religion_n whatever_o do_v consist_v than_o it_o be_v not_o reason_n only_o but_o experience_n itself_o which_o atte_v it_o that_o a_o man_n may_v as_o soon_o quit_v his_o notion_n that_o there_o be_v a_o god_n or_o to_o be_v afraid_a to_o own_v it_o and_o may_v as_o soon_o quit_v that_o notion_n that_o god_n be_v to_o be_v worship_v or_o be_v afraid_a to_o own_v it_o as_o he_o may_v quit_v or_o be_v afraid_a to_o own_o as_o a_o protestant_n this_o notion_n viz._n that_o god_n be_v so_o only_o to_o be_v worship_v and_o no_o otherwise_o then_o as_o he_o have_v set_v down_o in_o his_o word_n and_o if_o this_o notion_n then_o about_o his_o word_n as_o the_o only_a rule_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n be_v as_o firm_o plant_v in_o we_o by_o our_o education_n as_o any_o notion_n can_v be_v plant_v in_o we_o that_o belong_v to_o our_o nature_n as_o man_n it_o must_v needs_o follow_v that_o a_o government_n may_v as_o well_o and_o with_o as_o good_a success_n hope_v or_o propound_v to_o itself_o by_o a_o law_n to_o extinguish_v common_a notion_n as_o hope_v or_o propound_v to_o itself_o by_o a_o law_n to_o extinguish_v among_o protestant_n the_o notion_n of_o the_o necessity_n of_o worship_v god_n according_a to_o his_o word_n and_o therefore_o if_o it_o be_v right_o consider_v it_o will_v likewise_o appear_v that_o it_o must_v be_v to_o he_o that_o be_v true_o educate_v as_o a_o protestant_n every_o way_n as_o grievous_a to_o be_v command_v by_o a_o law_n to_o forsake_v christianity_n itself_o as_o to_o be_v command_v by_o a_o law_n to_o forsake_v that_o worship_n which_o he_o as_o a_o protestant_n can_v but_o believe_v in_o his_o heart_n be_v alone_o agreeable_a to_o the_o mind_n and_o law_n of_o god_n which_o be_v that_o worship_n that_o be_v give_v to_o god_n direct_o conformable_a to_o his_o scripture_n or_o word_n and_o of_o the_o truth_n of_o this_o the_o martyr_n in_o queen_n mary_n time_n be_v a_o competent_a witness_n and_o consequent_o they_o that_o pretend_v to_o take_v another_o measure_n of_o protestantism_n than_o according_a to_o what_o be_v thus_o firm_o root_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n both_o by_o their_o education_n and_o by_o the_o very_a principle_n and_o doctrine_n of_o the_o reformation_n do_v seem_v but_o to_o prevaricate_v only_o with_o the_o reform_a religion_n and_o with_o the_o six_o article_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n and_o do_v if_o not_o in_o woe_n d_n yet_o in_o action_n seem_v manifest_o to_o declare_v that_o they_o neither_o real_o believe_v the_o scripture_n or_o the_o christian_a religion_n or_o the_o reformation_n to_o be_v of_o god_n for_o if_o the_o whole_a of_o the_o christian_a religion_n be_v contain_v in_o the_o scripture_n and_o in_o the_o scripture_n alone_o as_o the_o six_o article_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n do_v both_o plain_o and_o express_o confess_v it_o be_v then_o to_o make_v the_o rule_n of_o the_o word_n to_o be_v our_o rule_n whole_o as_o christian_n in_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n be_v so_o far_o from_o a_o obstinacy_n in_o we_o and_o so_o far_o from_o any_o thing_n of_o humour_n or_o superstition_n or_o conceitedness_n that_o the_o contrary_n can_v be_v no_o way_n dispensible_a and_o much_o less_o maintainable_a before_o god_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v neither_o any_o part_n of_o popery_n itself_o nor_o any_o thing_n of_o idolatry_n though_o never_o so_o gross_a but_o it_o may_v be_v as_o easy_o impose_v upon_o and_o as_o easy_o entertain_v by_o a_o protestant_n as_o any_o worship_n may_v which_o he_o evident_o see_v or_o be_v sufficient_o persuade_v of_o in_o his_o conscience_n to_o be_v against_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n or_o against_o the_o rule_n of_o his_o word_n see_v it_o be_v this_o rule_n that_o be_v the_o only_a index_n of_o his_o mind_n as_o to_o we_o and_o it_o be_v this_o rule_n alone_o to_o which_o all_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v entire_o make_v and_o all_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v make_v to_o this_o rule_n only_o this_o rule_n and_o no_o other_o must_v then_o as_o we_o be_v christian_n be_v the_o alone_a foundation_n both_o of_o all_o our_o hope_n and_o of_o all_o our_o trust_n towards_o god_n and_o must_v consequent_o be_v the_o only_a ground_n upon_o which_o we_o can_v as_o christian_n have_v any_o expectation_n of_o salvation_n and_o life_n and_o consequent_o the_o whole_a interest_n and_o concern_v of_o our_o soul_n at_o least_o as_o we_o be_v protestant_n do_v and_o must_v stand_v entire_o upon_o the_o say_a word_n which_o deduction_n if_o they_o can_v any_o way_n possible_o be_v deny_v the_o disobey_v then_o f_z all_o such_o law_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o worship_n as_o be_v not_o agreeable_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n or_o which_o at_o lest_o appear_v not_o to_o be_v so_o be_v a_o thing_n whole_o inevitable_a and_o be_v impossible_a to_o be_v avoid_v in_o a_o protestant_a government_n even_o as_o we_o be_v rational_a person_n because_o there_o be_v a_o threefold_a reason_n that_o necessary_o impell_v it_o first_o as_o it_o have_v its_o rise_n from_o that_o most_o forcible_a and_o indelible_a character_n wh_o ch_n be_v write_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o all_o man_n viz._n that_o see_v god_n be_v he_o ought_v to_o be_v worship_v in_o some_o manner_n or_o another_o of_o necessity_n second_o as_o it_o have_v its_o rise_n from_o that_o character_n which_o have_v equal_a force_n with_o the_o other_o in_o the_o mind_n of_o we_o as_o we_o be_v breed_v protestant_n viz._n that_o god_n be_v no_o other_o way_n to_o be_v worship_v nor_o will_v accept_v of_o any_o worship_n from_o we_o as_o christian_n but_o what_o be_v agreeable_a to_o his_o word_n which_o two_o principle_n see_v by_o reason_n of_o our_o education_n they_o make_v but_o one_o indeed_o in_o our_o heart_n as_o we_o be_v protestant_n they_o do_v and_o must_v constrain_v we_o as_o soon_o to_o abandon_v all_o worship_n itself_o unto_o god_n as_o to_o abandon_v that_o worship_n which_o be_v proper_o agreeable_a to_o his_o word_n because_o so_o far_o as_o we_o abandon_v this_o we_o do_v abandon_v all_o worship_n that_o be_v according_a to_o our_o principle_n as_o protestant_n either_o acceptable_a with_o god_n or_o agreeable_a to_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n wherefore_o if_o to_o these_o two_o we_o shall_v add_v the_o three_o ground_n of_o its_o rise_n which_o be_v as_o certain_a also_o as_o either_o of_o the_o other_o viz._n that_o we_o neither_o have_v hope_n in_o god_n nor_o any_o promise_n make_v we_o by_o god_n further_o than_o as_o we_o obey_v he_o in_o his_o word_n or_o further_o than_o as_o we_o worship_v he_o according_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o it_o i_o say_v these_o three_o thing_n be_v now_o joint_o consider_v and_o serious_o weigh_v by_o we_o what_o man_n be_v there_o or_o what_o man_n can_v there_o be_v who_o firm_o believe_v there_o be_v any_o such_o thing_n as_o salvation_n and_o life_n who_o will_v not_o run_v any_o hazard_n rather_o than_o forbear_v what_o he_o judge_v to_o be_v the_o worship_n of_o god_n or_o rather_o than_o he_o will_v observe_v such_o a_o worship_n unto_o god_n as_o he_o can_v but_o know_v or_o can_v at_o least_o but_o very_o believe_v to_o be_v contrary_a to_o his_o mind_n and_o contrary_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o his_o word_n if_o it_o be_v evil_a then_o for_o any_o man_n to_o believe_v that_o god_n be_v indispensible_o to_o be_v worship_v after_o some_o manner_n or_o another_o or_o evil_a for_o a_o man_n to_o believe_v that_o there_o be_v no_o other_o rule_n of_o his_o will_n or_o mind_n to_o we_o as_o we_o be_v christian_n but_o his_o word_n and_o therefore_o no_o other_o rule_n wherein_o his_o worship_n be_v contain_v beside_o his_o say_a word_n or_o if_o it_o be_v evil_a to_o expect_v that_o god_n will_v most_o true_o faithful_o and_o full_o perform_v
his_o promise_n to_o we_o if_o we_o shall_v serve_v he_o according_a to_o his_o word_n and_o not_o otherwise_o i_o say_v if_o any_o of_o these_o three_o thing_n be_v evil_a than_o it_o must_v be_v evil_a to_o disobey_v any_o law_n relate_v to_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n though_o it_o be_v not_o agreeable_a to_o his_o word_n but_o if_o no_o one_o of_o these_o thing_n be_v evil_a in_o themselves_o they_o can_v never_o make_v any_o man_n evil_a who_o simple_o conform_v to_o they_o i_o say_v not_o simple_o for_o his_o conformity_n how_o strict_o or_o entire_o soever_o it_o be_v and_o therefore_o if_o these_o thr_fw-mi e_fw-es principles_n be_v of_o such_o a_o nature_n as_o create_v a_o necessity_n of_o our_o compliance_n with_o they_o even_o as_o we_o be_v rational_a person_n we_o must_v either_o then_o remove_v the_o principle_n themselves_o and_o the_o lawfulness_n of_o they_o or_o we_o must_v unavoidable_o suffer_v and_o permit_v their_o efficacy_n as_o lawful_a over_o man_n for_o to_o allow_v the_o principle_n themselves_o as_o good_a and_o lawful_a and_o as_o necessary_a and_o indispensible_a in_o themselves_o and_o to_o disallow_v nevertheless_o the_o practice_n of_o they_o or_o to_o disallow_v such_o person_n as_o follow_v they_o and_o embrace_v they_o and_o to_o account_v such_o person_n to_o be_v only_a disturber_n or_o to_o be_v man_n so_o evil_a and_o bad_a as_o that_o they_o be_v not_o fit_a to_o be_v tolerate_v in_o a_o nation_n even_o though_o no_o crime_n beside_o this_o be_v object_v against_o they_o be_v either_o grolly_o to_o prevaricate_v with_o the_o say_a principle_n themselves_o and_o to_o make_v but_o a_o mock_n of_o they_o or_o it_o be_v to_o do_v that_o which_o be_v absolute_o repugnant_a absurd_a and_o contradictory_n in_o itself_o which_o be_v whole_o against_o the_o reason_n and_o nature_n of_o a_o man_n as_o a_o man_n for_o though_o it_o can_v be_v maintain_v that_o all_o the_o law_n of_o man_n must_v or_o ought_v necessary_o to_o arise_v out_o of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n viz._n either_o that_o of_o his_o word_n or_o that_o law_n write_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n yet_o it_o be_v maintain_v among_o all_o christian_a government_n whatever_o that_o no_o law_n of_o the_o civil_a magistrate_n have_v any_o power_n to_o supersede_n any_o law_n of_o god_n whether_o it_o be_v that_o write_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n or_o that_o write_v in_o his_o word_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v universal_o agree_v by_o all_o government_n that_o all_o humane_a law_n if_o they_o be_v inconsistent_a either_o with_o any_o of_o these_o common_a principle_n that_o be_v write_v in_o our_o nature_n which_o be_v call_v the_o common_a principle_n of_o reason_n or_o with_o any_o that_o be_v express_o write_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n they_o be_v null_a and_o void_a in_o themselves_o because_o they_o be_v against_o a_o prior_n or_o precede_a obligation_n which_o all_o man_n as_o man_n have_v by_o nature_n unto_o god_n as_o unto_o their_o supreme_a lord_n and_o creator_n wherefore_o in_o as_o much_o as_o it_o be_v clear_a that_o all_o law_n which_o command_v man_n to_o forbear_v that_o worship_n which_o they_o as_o protestant_n do_v in_o their_o heart_n judge_v and_o believe_v to_o be_v agreeable_a to_o the_o mind_n will_n and_o word_n of_o god_n or_o which_o command_v they_o to_o conform_v to_o such_o a_o worship_n as_o they_o judge_v according_a to_o their_o understanding_n and_o can_v but_o believe_v to_o be_v disagreeable_a to_o the_o say_a mind_n will_n and_o word_n of_o god_n be_v of_o this_o nature_n and_o be_v such_o law_n as_o have_v a_o manifest_a inconsistency_n either_o with_o the_o law_n write_v in_o the_o heart_n itself_o viz._n which_o be_v that_o god_n be_v indispensible_o to_o be_v worship_v in_o some_o manner_n or_o another_o or_o have_v a_o inconsistency_n with_o the_o law_n write_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n viz._n that_o he_o will_v reward_v all_o such_o as_o shall_v punishment_n of_o person_n both_o in_o their_o liberty_n and_o good_n and_o sometime_o in_o their_o life_n by_o stink_a prison_n and_o want_v of_o necessary_n she_o do_v necessary_o draw_v upon_o she_o the_o guilt_n of_o man_n apostasy_n and_o hypocrisy_n and_o dissimulation_n who_o dare_v not_o but_o obey_v and_o comply_v with_o her_o command_n mere_o out_o of_o fear_n and_o do_v as_o necessary_o draw_v upon_o she_o the_o guilt_n of_o all_o that_o suffering_n cruelty_n and_o blood_n whatever_o it_o be_v she_o spill_v or_o do_v inflict_v upon_o those_o person_n who_o withstand_v with_o reference_n to_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n be_v still_o acknowledge_v to_o be_v evil_a and_o so_o style_v to_o this_o day_n so_o far_o as_o it_o concern_v she_o yea_o if_o these_o three_o thing_n be_v at_o this_o very_a present_a in_o controversy_n with_o that_o church_n not_o only_o charge_v upon_o she_o but_o cast_v in_o her_o tooth_n among_o many_o other_o thing_n by_o way_n of_o reproach_n and_o to_o set_v forth_o the_o just_a ground_n that_o we_o even_o as_o the_o church_n of_o england_n have_v as_o well_o as_o other_o church_n both_o of_o exception_n and_o hatred_n against_o she_o must_v not_o these_o three_o thing_n be_v much_o more_o evil_a in_o a_o protestant_a church_n who_o after_o she_o condemn_v all_o these_o thing_n not_o only_o as_o evil_a but_o as_o antichristian_a in_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n and_o after_o she_o have_v pretend_v to_o separate_v from_o the_o say_a church_n for_o they_o do_v nevertheless_o give_v herself_o leave_v to_o practice_v they_o without_o condemn_v herself_o at_o all_o in_o they_o and_o must_v not_o this_o practice_n cast_v a_o manifest_a blemish_n and_o reproach_n upon_o she_o own_o reformation_n and_o evidence_n to_o the_o world_n that_o she_o do_v not_o either_o believe_v the_o principle_n of_o it_o or_o do_v not_o at_o least_o dare_v to_o trust_v to_o it_o wherefore_o if_o the_o say_a church_n viz._n the_o rule_v clergy_n mere_o upon_o those_o ground_n and_o only_o to_o those_o end_n which_o be_v both_o thus_o evil_a in_o themselves_o and_o thus_o contrary_a to_o the_o ground_n and_o end_n of_o our_o reformation_n shall_v endeavour_v to_o engage_v the_o power_n of_o the_o civil_a magistrate_n to_o her_o assistance_n i_o humble_o offer_v it_o to_o consideration_n whether_o in_o move_v this_o to_o a_o prince_n especial_o as_o he_o be_v a_o protestant_n she_o do_v or_o can_v move_v he_o to_o any_o other_o purpose_n than_o that_o his_o authority_n may_v promote_v the_o defection_n virtue_n for_o temperance_n for_o morality_n for_o mercy_n for_o charity_n and_o temporal_a estate_n and_o even_o for_o loyalty_n itself_o beside_o either_o guilt_n be_v a_o thing_n of_o weight_n before_o god_n or_o it_o be_v not_o and_o the_o guilt_n which_o not_o only_o our_o first_o reformer_n but_o which_o our_o church_n do_v at_o this_o day_n charge_n upon_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n by_o reason_n of_o her_o persecution_n be_v just_o charge_v upon_o she_o or_o it_o be_v not_o if_o the_o guilt_n be_v real_a and_o that_o it_o be_v just_o charge_v upon_o the_o say_a church_n it_o be_v apparent_o criminal_a two_o way_n viz._n both_o as_o she_o through_o her_o persecution_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o that_o hypocrisy_n dissimulation_n and_o apostasy_n which_o man_n commit_v for_o mere_a fear_n of_o she_o and_o by_o which_o though_o out_o of_o weakness_n they_o do_v great_o wrong_v their_o own_o conscience_n and_o great_o injure_v their_o former_a profession_n before_o god_n and_o know_v they_o do_v so_o and_o lie_v ofttimes_o under_o trouble_n all_o their_o life_n afterward_o for_o it_o and_o as_o she_o be_v equal_o the_o cause_n of_o all_o those_o solemn_a complaint_n cry_n and_o appeal_v unto_o god_n and_o who_o be_v conscious_a to_o themselves_o of_o their_o sincerity_n and_o integrity_n towards_o god_n and_o who_o be_v destitute_a of_o all_o other_o help_n or_o remedy_n in_o the_o earth_n do_v in_o their_o grief_n and_o strait_n ofttimes_o make_v and_o pour_v out_o unto_o god_n as_o the_o righteous_a judge_n of_o all_o person_n and_o which_o righteous_a prayer_n complaint_n and_o appeal_v to_o god_n we_o not_o only_o as_o christian_n but_o as_o protestant_n when_o we_o write_v against_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n do_v express_o affirm_v shall_v be_v hear_v and_o that_o she_o shall_v answer_v as_o well_o for_o the_o crime_n as_o the_o oppression_n and_o wrong_n that_o she_o have_v unjust_o bring_v upon_o we_o wherefore_o when_o the_o protestant_a church_n or_o the_o clergy_n who_o be_v the_o ruler_n of_o it_o shall_v be_v guilty_a of_o the_o same_o manner_n of_o persecution_n and_o upon_o the_o very_a same_o ground_n or_o principle_n that_o the_o popish_a clergy_n be_v even_o because_o man_n in_o their_o worship_n or_o service_n of_o god_n do_v desire_n to_o obey_v the_o law_n mind_n and_o will_v of_o god_n so_o far_o say_v protestant_a church_n or_o the_o roll_a clergy_n of_o it_o be_v the_o occasion_n of_o some_o man_n hypocrisy_n dissimulation_n and_o desertion_n of_o their_o principle_n through_o weakness_n
