and_o solid_o refute_v by_o mr._n rutherford_n in_o his_o divine_a right_n of_o church-government_n and_o indeed_o have_v always_o be_v and_o still_o be_v the_o main_a pillar_n to_o uphold_v episcopacy_n in_o these_o nation_n it_o be_v the_o most_o ready_a and_o plausible_a way_n for_o they_o who_o will_v wreathe_v this_o iron_n yoke_n on_o the_o neck_n of_o their_o brethren_n when_o they_o can_v show_v they_o christ_n authority_n for_o it_o to_o take_v the_o determine_n of_o the_o case_n out_o of_o his_o hand_n and_o to_o put_v it_o in_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o king_n and_o then_o to_o press_v it_o from_o his_o authority_n with_o fire_n and_o sword_n and_o indeed_o this_o opinion_n be_v a_o most_o colourable_a excuse_n for_o the_o unfaithful_a compliance_n of_o they_o who_o will_v fain_o hold_v their_o place_n under_o any_o form_n of_o church-government_n that_o shall_v lie_v uppermost_a for_o so_o they_o shall_v be_v sure_a never_o to_o cross_v authority_n and_o not_o to_o cross_v the_o interest_n of_o their_o own_o back_n and_o belly_n and_o how_o much_o mischief_n this_o piece_n have_v do_v this_o way_n be_v too_o evident_a see_v man_n that_o incline_v to_o comply_v be_v satisfy_v with_o shadow_n instead_o of_o substantial_a reason_n to_o put_v off_o troublesome_a conscience_n yet_o among_o they_o who_o be_v conscientious_o zealous_a for_o any_o one_o the_o thought_n of_o man_n as_o wise_a and_o able_a as_o we_o that_o must_v determine_v we_o for_o we_o know_v the_o wise_a may_v mistake_v when_o they_o who_o be_v less_o wise_a may_v hit_v the_o truth_n through_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n but_o we_o must_v consider_v whether_o these_o ground_n be_v the_o dictate_v of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o his_o word_n and_o if_o they_o be_v we_o must_v not_o be_v shake_v in_o mind_n by_o the_o contrary_a assertion_n of_o man_n though_o never_o so_o wise_a yea_o and_o holy_a too_o i_o grant_v the_o opinion_n of_o such_o shall_v make_v we_o search_v careful_o but_o they_o must_v not_o hinder_v our_o assent_n to_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n and_o this_o be_v a_o valid_a reason_n why_o we_o be_v to_o suspend_v our_o endeavour_n of_o peac_n on_o some_o matter_n of_o opinion_n though_o contradict_v by_o wise_a and_o able_a man_n §_o 8._o he_o add_v that_o it_o be_v not_o consistent_a with_o christ_n wisdom_n to_o leave_v the_o peace_n of_o his_o church_n at_o the_o mercy_n of_o man_n private_a opinion_n which_o be_v most_o uncertain_a for_o it_o be_v not_o expect_v that_o all_o man_n shall_v be_v of_o the_o same_o mind_n ans_fw-fr 1._o it_o be_v too_o great_a rashness_n to_o think_v that_o christ_n can_v be_v a_o wise_a governor_n of_o his_o church_n unless_o he_o take_v course_n for_o its_o setlement_n that_o our_o wisdom_n do_v without_o deny_v that_o which_o we_o differ_v about_o to_o be_v determine_v by_o christ_n and_o assert_v it_o to_o be_v a_o thing_n leave_v indifferent_a and_o if_o this_o be_v not_o particable_a either_o through_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o truth_n that_o we_o dissent_v about_o in_o that_o it_o be_v practical_a or_o so_o important_a that_o it_o can_v be_v conceal_v or_o through_o the_o obstinacy_n or_o wrong_a zeal_n of_o dissenter_n the_o lord_n have_v not_o leave_v his_o church_n without_o a_o remedy_n even_o in_o this_o case_n viz._n they_o who_o do_v unreasonaly_a dissent_n must_v be_v censure_v or_o shun_v and_o if_o this_o can_v be_v do_v without_o breach_n of_o peace_n it_o be_v our_o lord_n wisdom_n to_o provide_v that_o we_o shall_v rather_o loose_v peace_n then_o truth_n 3._o all_o that_o be_v here_o say_a will_n as_o well_o prove_v that_o there_o be_v no_o fix_a truth_n in_o any_o controvert_v point_n though_o of_o never_o so_o great_a concernment_n for_o it_o may_v be_v say_v also_o in_o these_o that_o christ_n have_v not_o leave_v the_o peace_n of_o his_o church_n at_o the_o mercy_n of_o man_n private_a opinion_n which_o be_v not_o the_o same_o in_o many_o as_o the_o jew_n be_v 2._o be_v it_o contrary_a to_o gospel-perfection_n to_o be_v under_o the_o command_v of_o christ_n as_o to_o a_o form_n of_o church_n government_n and_o to_o be_v rule_v be_v easy_a than_o man_n and_o his_o device_n must_v be_v better_a than_o they_o indeed_o in_o thing_n that_o concern_v one_o church_n and_o not_o another_o it_o be_v better_a that_o the_o prudence_n number_n of_o officer_n to_o teach_v and_o govern_v they_o that_o a_o great_a church_n do_v 3._o that_o the_o apostle_n do_v settle_v church-officer_n according_a to_o the_o probability_n of_o increase_n of_o believer_n and_o in_o order_n thereto_o in_o some_o great_a place_n about_o these_o i_o shall_v not_o controvert_v with_o he_o only_o the_o 2d_o must_v be_v understand_v with_o this_o distinction_n else_o we_o can_v grant_v it_o that_o a_o few_o number_n if_o form_v into_o a_o church-society_n though_o it_o do_v not_o need_v as_o great_a a_o number_n of_o officer_n of_o every_o kind_n as_o teacher_n elder_n deacon_n yet_o will_v it_o need_v as_o many_o sort_n of_o officer_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o all_o those_o act_n be_v needful_a to_o be_v do_v to_o they_o which_o must_v be_v do_v to_o great_a congregation_n they_o must_v be_v teach_v rule_v and_o their_o poor_a care_v for_o and_o therefore_o they_o must_v not_o want_v any_o of_o these_o sort_n of_o officer_n who_o work_n these_o act_n be_v i_o mean_v where_o such_o officer_n can_v be_v have_v for_o christ_n institution_n tie_v not_o to_o impossibility_n from_o these_o premise_n he_o infer_v these_o two_o conclusion_n to_o make_v out_o his_o proposition_n the_o first_o be_v p._n 325._o that_o in_o church_n consist_v of_o a_o small_a number_n of_o believer_n where_o there_o be_v no_o great_a probability_n of_o increase_n afterward_o one_o single_a pastor_n with_o deacon_n under_o he_o be_v only_o constitute_v by_o the_o apostle_n for_o the_o rule_n of_o these_o church_n on_o this_o conclusion_n before_o i_o come_v to_o his_o proof_n of_o it_o i_o shall_v make_v these_o remark_n 1._o here_o be_v nothing_o here_o for_o the_o imparity_n of_o presbyter_n or_o the_o authority_n of_o a_o bishop_n over_o presbyter_n if_o where_o more_o presbyter_n can_v not_o be_v have_v one_o be_v to_o do_v the_o work_n this_o do_v not_o at_o all_o say_v that_o the_o apostle_n
