be_v plenitudito_fw-mi partium_fw-la a_o fullness_n of_o part_n no_o member_n lack_v so_o also_o plenitudo_fw-la graduum_fw-la no_o degree_n of_o growth_n want_v in_o any_o part_n that_o so_o christ_n who_o fill_v all_o in_o all_o may_v be_v full_o full_a and_o as_o there_o will_v be_v a_o deformity_n if_o any_o one_o shall_v not_o grow_v as_o to_o have_v a_o wither_a member_n be_v a_o dishonour_n day_n than_o they_o have_v be_v get_v many_o year_n yea_o they_o be_v so_o far_o from_o discern_v that_o they_o grow_v that_o they_o rather_o think_v that_o they_o fall_v back_o and_o therefore_o fear_v even_o the_o truth_n of_o grace_n in_o they_o because_o all_o believer_n grow_v now_o the_o scope_n of_o all_o which_o i_o shall_v speak_v of_o this_o argument_n will_v tend_v to_o this_o to_o help_v such_o to_o discern_v and_o judge_v aright_o of_o their_o estate_n herein_o and_o to_o free_v they_o from_o such_o mistake_n and_o error_n as_o their_o objection_n be_v usual_o found_v upon_o and_o first_o general_n concern_v this_o kind_n of_o tentation_n and_o trouble_n let_v i_o premise_v this_o one_o observation_n concern_v what_o sort_n of_o convert_v this_o temptation_n be_v apt_a to_o seize_v on_o you_o all_o know_v that_o there_o be_v two_o more_o eminent_a and_o conspicuous_a manner_n of_o conversion_n of_o god_n people_n usual_a in_o the_o church_n the_o conversion_n of_o some_o be_v more_o sudden_a and_o apparent_a like_o the_o bring_n of_o joseph_n out_o of_o a_o dungeon_n into_o a_o marvellous_a glorious_a light_n it_o be_v with_o a_o sudden_a change_n which_o therefore_o be_v accompany_v with_o a_o mighty_a violent_a inundation_n and_o land-floud_n of_o humiliation_n for_o sin_n increase_v with_o many_o gracious_a enlargement_n and_o dew_n from_o heaven_n which_o afterward_o abate_v and_o the_o stream_n settle_v and_o grow_v less_o and_o come_v to_o a_o ordinary_a channel_n and_o fall_v but_o unto_o so_o much_o as_o the_o natural_a spring_n of_o grace_n as_o i_o may_v so_o call_v it_o will_v serve_v to_o feed_v they_o then_o begin_v to_o call_v all_o into_o question_n for_o their_o want_n of_o growth_n other_o on_o the_o contrary_n who_o conversion_n have_v be_v insensible_a and_o carry_v on_o with_o a_o still_a and_o quiet_a stream_n and_o have_v have_v a_o more_o leisurely_o gentle_a thaw_n and_o their_o change_n from_o darkness_n to_o light_n have_v not_o be_v sudden_a but_o as_o the_o break_n forth_o of_o the_o morning_n small_a at_o first_o and_o not_o discernible_a at_o what_o time_n day_n begin_v then_o to_o break_v these_o on_o the_o contrary_n be_v exercise_v rather_o about_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o work_n begin_v about_o the_o work_n of_o conversion_n itself_o and_o the_o right_a beginning_n of_o all_o at_o first_o but_o their_o tentation_n arise_v not_o from_o a_o want_n of_o growth_n so_o much_o for_o this_o to_o they_o be_v more_o evident_a and_o sensible_a be_v like_o the_o morning_n light_n which_o grow_v clear_a and_o clear_a to_o the_o perfect_a day_n prov._n 4._o now_o observe_v the_o different_a condition_n of_o these_o two_o sort_n the_o former_a of_o these_o have_v a_o more_o apparent_a work_n at_o first_o to_o show_v as_o the_o evidence_n of_o their_o estate_n but_o be_v apt_a through_o desertion_n neglect_n and_o carnal_a presumption_n to_o call_v into_o question_n their_o progress_n in_o it_o and_o from_o thence_o to_o question_v the_o truth_n of_o that_o first_o work_v begin_v the_o other_o on_o the_o contrary_n see_v a_o constant_a spring_n and_o stream_n increase_v but_o can_v show_v the_o wellhead_n or_o when_o or_o where_o the_o spring_n begin_v so_o that_o so_o apparent_a a_o work_n of_o grace_n begin_v will_v become_v matter_n of_o assurance_n to_o the_o one_o but_o be_v check_v with_o want_n of_o discern_a growth_n answerable_a to_o such_o beginning_n but_o a_o apparent_a growth_n and_o fast_o go_v up_o of_o the_o building_n comfort_v the_o other_o but_o yet_o so_o as_o they_o still_o be_v apt_a to_o question_v whether_o the_o foundation_n of_o such_o a_o building_n be_v well_o and_o sure_o lay_v that_o they_o be_v go_v on_o further_a to_o perfection_n this_o they_o clear_o see_v but_o whether_o they_o come_v in_o at_o the_o right_a gate_n or_o no_o that_o be_v the_o scruple_n which_o exercise_v their_o spirit_n thus_o have_v our_o wise_a god_n as_o in_o the_o work_n of_o his_o providence_n so_o of_o his_o grace_n set_v the_o one_o against_o the_o other_o as_o solomon_n speak_v that_o unto_o both_o these_o there_o may_v be_v occasion_n of_o excercise_n leave_v that_o neither_o may_v confide_v in_o any_o work_v wrought_v upon_o they_o but_o fly_v alone_o to_o christ_n and_o that_o neither_o shall_v rejoice_v against_o the_o other_o or_o be_v discontent_v with_o that_o way_n wherein_o god_n have_v deal_v with_o they_o in_o the_o second_o place_n consideration_n there_o be_v some_o consideration_n to_o be_v add_v concern_v a_o christian_n discern_v his_o spiritual_a growth_n which_o will_v be_v profitable_a to_o the_o thing_n in_o hand_n as_o first_o consid_n that_o our_o grow_v in_o grace_n be_v a_o mystery_n to_o be_v apprehend_v by_o faith_n rather_o than_o by_o sense_n our_o spiritual_a life_n itself_o be_v carry_v along_o by_o faith_n much_o more_o the_o discern_a the_o increase_n of_o it_o yea_o and_o it_o be_v carry_v on_o by_o contrary_n as_o by_o fall_n and_o desertion_n and_o even_o by_o our_o own_o opinion_n of_o our_o decrease_n therefore_o it_o be_v rather_o discern_v by_o faith_n than_o sense_n for_o faith_n be_v the_o evidence_n of_o thing_n not_o see_v second_o consid_n the_o eager_a desire_n that_o many_o christian_n have_v to_o have_v more_o grace_n together_o with_o they_o their_o go_v on_o to_o discern_v more_o and_o more_o their_o want_n which_o in_o some_o respect_n be_v a_o growth_n these_o do_v keep_v they_o from_o think_v that_o indeed_o they_o do_v grow_v there_o be_v as_o solomon_n say_v that_o make_v himself_o poor_a and_o have_v great_a riches_n prov._n 13._o 7._o because_o he_o enlarge_v his_o desire_n still_o therefore_o still_o he_o think_v himself_o poor_a so_o hungry_a and_o greedy_a christian_n look_v still_o to_o what_o they_o want_v and_o not_o to_o what_o they_o have_v be_v still_o complain_v and_o unthankful_a if_o thou_o will_v discern_v thy_o growth_n do_v not_o compare_v the_o copy_n with_o thy_o writing_n but_o rather_o thy_o writing_n now_o with_o thy_o writing_n at_o the_o first_o for_o this_o be_v a_o sure_a rule_n that_o the_o better_a thou_o learn_v to_o write_v the_o better_a copy_n do_v god_n daily_o set_v thou_o that_o be_v give_v thou_o to_o see_v more_o strictness_n in_o the_o rule_n and_o so_o still_o may_v think_v that_o thou_o want_v as_o much_o and_o be_v as_o far_o short_a as_o at_o first_o if_o thus_o thou_o compare_v thyself_o with_o nothing_o but_o thy_o sight_n of_o the_o rule_n itself_o the_o three_o consideration_n consid_n that_o if_o growth_n at_o any_o time_n be_v make_v sensible_a and_o be_v discern_v by_o sense_n yet_o so_o as_o after_o a_o while_o it_o be_v not_o so_o discernible_a as_o that_o great_a change_n be_v which_o be_v make_v upon_o a_o man_n first_o conversion_n the_o reason_n whereof_o be_v 1._o for_o at_o first_o conversion_n the_o change_n be_v specifical_a whole_o from_o want_n of_o grace_n unto_o beginning_n of_o grace_n but_o the_o change_n in_o our_o growth_n afterward_o be_v but_o gradual_a that_o be_v but_o addition_n of_o more_o degree_n only_o of_o christ_n speak_v because_o it_o be_v such_o a_o purge_n as_o be_v after_o bring_v forth_o some_o fruit_n and_o whereof_o the_o end_n be_v to_o bring_v forth_o more_o fruit_n neither_o 2._o be_v we_o so_o much_o to_o speak_v of_o it_o here_o as_o it_o be_v a_o duty_n to_o be_v do_v by_o we_o though_o it_o be_v so_o but_o as_o it_o be_v a_o work_n of_o god_n upon_o we_o which_o he_o take_v care_n to_o we_o at_o first_o late_o feel_v help_v to_o sharpen_v the_o edge_n but_o add_v no_o metal_n and_o so_o our_o weapon_n be_v beat_v to_o our_o head_n again_o when_o we_o use_v they_o what_o a_o edge_n of_o spirit_n have_v peter_n raise_v up_o against_o deny_v christ_n he_o will_v die_v rather_o he_o speak_v then_o as_o he_o think_v and_o he_o will_v have_v die_v in_o the_o quarrel_n for_o
