we_o to_o live_v as_o his_o servant_n as_o man_n who_o be_v dead_a to_o sin_n and_o alive_a unto_o god_n know_v you_o not_o be_v the_o sharp_a and_o cut_a expostulation_n of_o st._n paul_n to_o all_o as_o they_o do_v in_o their_o life_n time_n and_o thereupon_o he_o bid_v they_o to_o look_v to_o their_o baptism_n for_o that_o they_o can_v be_v ignorant_a that_o when_o they_o be_v baptize_v into_o christ_n jesus_n they_o be_v baptize_v into_o his_o death_n and_o here_o in_o my_o text_n bury_v with_o he_o in_o baptism_n and_o do_v the_o death_n the_o burial_n of_o christ_n stand_v for_o a_o cypher_n have_v christ_n his_o death_n and_o burial_n no_o tie_n upon_o we_o in_o this_o holy_a sacrament_n have_v it_o no_o power_n virtue_n or_o influence_n certain_o it_o have_v do_v we_o little_a good_a if_o we_o exemplify_v it_o not_o in_o the_o death_n and_o mortification_n of_o sin_n this_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o every_o baptize_v christian_n so_o far_o necessary_a that_o we_o can_v have_v no_o benefit_n by_o our_o baptism_n no_o portion_n in_o christ_n or_o in_o his_o death_n and_o burial_n but_o by_o our_o be_v dead_a and_o even_o bury_v unto_o sin_n if_o it_o be_v say_v how_o must_v we_o be_v thus_o dead_a to_o sin_n to_o have_v any_o share_n in_o christ_n and_o his_o death_n for_o we_o can_v say_v we_o be_v dead_a to_o it_o we_o find_v it_o still_o lively_a and_o stir_v in_o we_o and_o too_o much_o prevail_v with_o we_o i_o answer_v we_o be_v then_o dead_a to_o sin_n when_o we_o live_v not_o any_o long_o therein_o and_o that_o be_v to_o expound_v the_o apostle_n meaning_n first_o when_o we_o do_v not_o only_o refrain_v and_o forbear_v our_o sin_n for_o a_o while_n but_o do_v real_o aim_v at_o no_o less_o than_o the_o mortification_n of_o our_o lust_n second_o when_o though_o we_o be_v not_o quite_o dead_a to_o sin_n yet_o we_o be_v not_o dead_a in_o sin_n but_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o venom_n and_o sting_n of_o it_o three_o when_o though_o we_o can_v live_v and_o not_o sin_n yet_o we_o do_v not_o live_v in_o it_o it_o be_v not_o as_o our_o life_n so_o far_o from_o that_o that_o it_o be_v grievous_a to_o we_o it_o be_v as_o death_n last_o when_o though_o our_o sin_n be_v not_o quite_o dead_a yet_o they_o be_v languish_v and_o decay_v in_o a_o linger_a and_o die_a state_n and_o if_o we_o commit_v sin_n
