who_o decline_v conformity_n with_o the_o church_n will_v have_v the_o face_n to_o deny_v this_o have_v they_o to_o do_v with_o the_o now_o missionary_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n for_o it_o will_v not_o serve_v their_o turn_n in_o answer_n to_o they_o to_o plead_v that_o the_o pope_n be_v antichrist_n and_o the_o papist_n idolater_n have_v reason_n to_o challenge_v that_o god_n have_v found_v a_o visible_a church_n it_o will_v be_v absolute_o necessary_a to_o plead_v though_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n have_v institute_v a_o visible_a church_n yet_o that_o by_o the_o malice_n of_o man_n it_o may_v be_v and_o be_v become_v invisible_a for_o the_o difficulty_n of_o find_v salvation_n by_o it_o though_o absolute_o visible_a because_o salvation_n may_v always_o be_v have_v in_o it_o it_o be_v easy_a for_o he_o that_o will_v answer_v they_o with_o a_o good_a conscience_n for_o truth_n and_o not_o for_o victory_n to_o maintain_v the_o church_n to_o be_v visible_a so_o far_o as_o the_o faith_n and_o the_o law_n thereof_o continue_v visible_a but_o that_o so_o far_o as_o the_o faith_n and_o law_n thereof_o may_v be_v disguise_v from_o that_o which_o be_v from_o the_o beginning_n so_o far_o it_o may_v and_o be_v to_o be_v say_v that_o the_o church_n which_o by_o god_n ordinance_n be_v and_o aught_o to_o be_v visible_a by_o humane_a disorder_n be_v become_v invisible_a which_o be_v say_v it_o follow_v immediate_o that_o as_o all_o estate_n in_o the_o church_n be_v oblige_v in_o their_o several_a quality_n to_o do_v their_o utmost_a that_o the_o church_n may_v be_v visible_a the_o salvation_n of_o all_o christian_n require_v they_o to_o resort_v to_o the_o communion_n of_o the_o church_n which_o they_o believe_v to_o be_v catholic_n so_o there_o be_v no_o other_o way_n to_o make_v it_o visible_a but_o to_o restore_v the_o faith_n and_o the_o law_n of_o the_o church_n that_o from_o the_o beginning_n make_v it_o visible_a and_o therefore_o no_o christian_a church_n or_o state_n can_v have_v power_n to_o reform_v the_o church_n any_o otherwise_o then_o by_o restore_v that_o faith_n and_o those_o law_n which_o the_o church_n may_v appear_v to_o have_v have_v from_o the_o beginning_n it_o will_v be_v sacrilege_n and_o usurpation_n upon_o the_o faith_n which_o god_n have_v build_v his_o church_n upon_o and_o upon_o the_o law_n which_o either_o the_o apostle_n have_v deliver_v to_o the_o church_n or_o enable_v the_o church_n to_o deliver_v to_o posterity_n to_o introduce_v any_o thing_n else_o for_o the_o reformation_n of_o the_o church_n which_o see_v it_o must_v needs_o bind_v over_o the_o church_n and_o kingdom_n to_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n as_o either_o destructive_a or_o at_o least_o prejudicial_a to_o the_o salvation_n of_o the_o people_n must_v needs_o bind_v over_o he_o that_o have_v this_o opinion_n to_o the_o same_o if_o upon_o so_o just_a a_o occasion_n he_o shall_v forbear_v to_o publish_v and_o to_o plead_v it_o as_o he_o may_v without_o offence_n and_o therefore_o i_o take_v leave_n to_o blame_v all_o those_o who_o declare_v in_o behalf_n of_o this_o church_n that_o it_o depart_v and_o separate_v itself_o from_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n for_o see_v it_o have_v be_v grant_v in_o and_o by_o this_o church_n ever_o since_o the_o reformation_n that_o there_o be_v and_o always_o be_v salvation_n to_o be_v have_v in_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n as_o a_o true_a church_n though_o corrupt_v i_o be_o very_o confident_a that_o no_o church_n can_v separate_v from_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n but_o they_o must_v make_v themselves_o thereby_o schismatic_n before_o god_n though_o before_o the_o church_n they_o can_v be_v condemn_v for_o such_o because_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n the_o authority_n whereof_o must_v needs_o be_v ingredient_n into_o the_o sentence_n can_v oblige_v any_o body_n to_o stand_v to_o the_o authority_n which_o it_o so_o abuse_v for_o if_o god_n have_v tie_v all_o church_n to_o communion_n with_o all_o church_n how_o shall_v it_o not_o be_v schism_n to_o profess_v separation_n from_o a_o true_a church_n and_o it_o be_v every_o whit_n as_o easy_a to_o say_v that_o we_o intend_v only_o to_o reform_v ourselves_o and_o that_o the_o separation_n have_v come_v to_o pass_v by_o the_o rigour_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n excommunicate_v those_o that_o reform_v themselves_o without_o her_o leave_n chap._n v._o how_o far_o this_o rule_n be_v own_v by_o this_o church_n here_o it_o will_v perhaps_o be_v demand_v whether_o or_o no_o the_o law_n of_o church_n whereby_o we_o prove_v ourselves_o no_o schismatic_n to_o the_o see_v of_o rome_n when_o we_o repay_v the_o curse_n of_o it_o with_o our_o prayer_n beside_o that_o injunction_n of_o edward_n for_o it_o will_v be_v find_v that_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o father_n be_v not_o to_o be_v have_v but_o in_o the_o common_a faith_n and_o in_o those_o law_n which_o the_o whole_a church_n either_o enjoin_v or_o allow_v particular_a church_n so_o that_o to_o expound_v the_o scripture_n according_a to_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o father_n be_v to_o expound_v they_o within_o those_o bound_n and_o to_o trouble_v the_o head_n of_o christian_a people_n with_o nothing_o that_o be_v without_o the_o same_o as_o if_o their_o salvation_n can_v be_v concern_v all_o be_v safe_a within_o those_o bound_n here_o i_o must_v take_v notice_n that_o the_o reason_n why_o the_o church_n catholic_n be_v to_o be_v hold_v may_v be_v miskenned_a if_o it_o be_v extend_v to_o all_o that_o be_v call_v christian_n and_o not_o limit_v to_o that_o which_o maintain_v the_o faith_n violate_v not_o the_o unity_n of_o the_o primitive_a church_n if_o the_o profession_n of_o christ_n and_o christianity_n be_v enough_o to_o make_v man_n member_n of_o the_o catholic_n church_n why_o shall_v not_o socinian_n and_o anabaptist_n belong_v to_o the_o church_n disperse_v over_o the_o face_n of_o the_o whole_a earth_n again_o the_o eastern_a christian_n that_o
conscience_n shall_v be_v pretend_v when_o the_o question_n be_v whether_o to_o turn_v christian_a or_o not_o be_v it_o possible_a that_o there_o shall_v be_v such_o a_o doubt_n in_o that_o point_n that_o a_o man_n to_o who_o the_o reason_n why_o he_o ought_v to_o be_v a_o christian_n be_v sufficient_o propose_v can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v under_o a_o light_n that_o convince_v he_o not_o which_o if_o it_o be_v true_a then_o be_v there_o nothing_o in_o christianity_n which_o there_o be_v not_o a_o sufficient_a light_n to_o convict_v that_o man_n of_o to_o who_o office_n it_o belong_v otherwise_o it_o can_v not_o be_v to_o his_o office_n not_o be_v able_a to_o discern_v the_o obligation_n of_o it_o it_o be_v therefore_o a_o horrible_a reproach_n to_o christianity_n to_o say_v that_o any_o doubt_a conscience_n be_v not_o under_o a_o light_n sufficient_a to_o resolve_v it_o scruple_n of_o conscience_n there_o may_v be_v which_o may_v eternal_o have_v recourse_n and_o that_o no_o disparagement_n to_o the_o faith_n because_o the_o faith_n provide_v a_o resolution_n that_o they_o who_o have_v scruple_n in_o conscience_n be_v bind_v in_o conscience_n to_o lay_v they_o aside_o nay_o to_o act_n positive_o against_o they_o but_o he_o that_o say_v that_o be_v a_o christian_n he_o be_v not_o under_o a_o light_n sufficient_a to_o clear_v he_o in_o any_o doubt_n of_o conscience_n say_v that_o the_o faith_n oblige_v he_o to_o sin_n whereas_o it_o be_v not_o the_o faith_n but_o the_o want_n of_o it_o which_o oblige_v not_o the_o err_a conscience_n to_o sin_n but_o entangle_v he_o so_o that_o he_o must_v sin_v if_o the_o obligation_n of_o act_v fall_n out_o before_o the_o error_n be_v remove_v suppose_v the_o jew_n convict_v by_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o roman_n that_o salvation_n come_v only_o by_o faith_n and_o not_o by_o the_o law_n also_o and_o you_o suppose_v they_o under_o a_o light_n that_o neither_o the_o law_n nor_o any_o ordinance_n then_o stand_v by_o virtue_n of_o the_o law_n can_v oblige_v but_o suppose_v they_o in_o love_n with_o themselves_o and_o with_o their_o ancestor_n and_o to_o have_v such_o a_o opinion_n of_o salvation_n entail_v upon_o they_o and_o their_o issue_n by_o the_o law_n as_o to_o think_v that_o they_o can_v not_o have_v it_o by_o god_n that_o give_v the_o law_n if_o the_o gentile_n may_v have_v it_o as_o well_o as_o themselves_o and_o they_o may_v very_o well_o for_o consequence_n of_o reason_n though_o very_o ill_a for_o their_o own_o account_n oversee_v the_o light_n they_o be_v under_o suppose_v we_o now_o those_o that_o make_v this_o plea_n not_o to_o believe_v one_o catholic_n church_n and_o one_o baptism_n for_o the_o remission_n of_o sin_n but_o have_v rather_o gratify_v the_o socinian_o and_o deny_v that_o any_o christian_n can_v be_v oblige_v to_o any_o thing_n that_o appear_v not_o to_o his_o own_o reason_n out_o of_o canonical_a scripture_n then_o imagine_v he_o shall_v gratify_v the_o papist_n if_o he_o shall_v grant_v that_o catholic_n communion_n always_o make_v the_o catholic_n church_n suppose_v they_o not_o to_o believe_v that_o the_o faith_n which_o only_o save_v include_v baptism_n in_o the_o catholic_n church_n and_o that_o this_o church_n be_v not_o reform_v unless_o it_o be_v restore_v to_o the_o same_o form_n i_o say_v suppose_v they_o possess_v with_o such_o prejudices_fw-la as_o these_o and_o marvel_v not_o to_o see_v they_o eternal_o doubt_v whether_o or_o no_o it_o be_v lawful_a for_o they_o to_o obey_v the_o law_n which_o this_o church_n and_o kingdom_n be_v able_a to_o make_v nay_o to_o see_v they_o break_v out_o into_o schism_n as_o all_o party_n now_o seem_v to_o do_v rather_o than_o obey_v they_o when_o they_o shall_v be_v out_o of_o hope_n to_o give_v their_o own_o law_n to_o the_o kingdom_n never_o forecast_v how_o it_o may_v appear_v to_o continue_v a_o church_n when_o they_o have_v give_v such_o law_n to_o it_o chap._n fourteen_o that_o it_o be_v not_o forbearance_n to_o allow_v their_o order_n i_o suppose_v they_o who_o make_v this_o plea_n will_v not_o grant_v that_o they_o be_v in_o any_o error_n so_o near_o the_o foundation_n as_o these_o which_o i_o name_n nor_o do_v i_o think_v that_o those_o christian_a jew_n at_o rome_n that_o doubt_v of_o transgress_v the_o law_n when_o they_o know_v that_o salvation_n come_v only_o by_o faith_n do_v deny_v the_o foundation_n of_o faith_n for_o as_o long_o as_o they_o live_v in_o the_o church_n they_o be_v in_o the_o way_n to_o learn_v and_o understand_v how_o both_o be_v true_a neither_o will_v i_o say_v that_o any_o of_o those_o who_o desire_v forbearance_n for_o the_o weak_a be_v in_o any_o error_n destructive_a to_o the_o foundation_n of_o faith_n and_o the_o hope_n of_o salvation_n till_o they_o break_v out_o into_o conventicle_n when_o that_o be_v do_v i_o be_o thenceforth_o bind_v to_o charge_v they_o with_o all_o the_o error_n which_o the_o title_n of_o their_o schism_n can_v signify_v and_o therefore_o i_o charge_v they_o with_o hypocrisy_n when_o they_o pretend_v to_o forbearance_n because_o they_o be_v weak_a and_o yet_o break_v out_o into_o conventieles_n when_o they_o do_v so_o than_o they_o can_v be_v count_v no_o more_o the_o weak_a among_o christian_n than_o those_o jew_n which_o s._n paul_n will_v have_v to_o be_v forbear_v as_o the_o weak_a among_o christian_n suppose_v they_o to_o have_v renounce_v the_o faith_n afterward_o rather_o than_o continue_v in_o the_o church_n and_o therefore_o the_o plea_n of_o weak_a conscience_n can_v be_v allow_v those_o that_o engage_v in_o conventicle_n they_o have_v cut_v themselves_o off_o from_o it_o by_o leave_v the_o church_n let_v they_o return_v and_o then_o make_v the_o best_a of_o it_o as_o to_o they_o the_o church_n be_v under_o a_o new_a precept_n of_o s._n paul_n which_o say_v a_o man_n that_o be_v a_o heretic_n after_o the_o first_o and_o second_o admonition_n avoid_v know_v that_o such_o a_o one_o be_v out_o of_o the_o way_n and_o sin_v be_v condemn_v by_o himself_o titus_n iii_o 10_o 11._o because_o say_v s._n hierom_n after_o s._n cyprian_n whereas_o other_o sinner_n be_v put_v out_o of_o the_o church_n by_o those_o that_o manage_v the_o key_n of_o the_o church_n heretic_n and_o schismatic_n put_v themselves_o out_o of_o the_o church_n therefore_o titus_n that_o be_v all_z titus_n his_o flock_n be_v to_o avoid_v they_o for_o excommunicate_a person_n who_o do_v excommunicate_v themselves_o as_o for_o those_o that_o continue_v in_o the_o church_n though_o with_o a_o pretence_n of_o give_v such_o law_n to_o the_o church_n as_o no_o man_n know_v how_o soon_o they_o may_v unchurch_n it_o let_v they_o make_v their_o best_a of_o it_o but_o be_v ground_v at_o least_o upon_o a_o pretence_n of_o weakness_n there_o can_v be_v no_o question_n make_v but_o some_o error_n must_v be_v grant_v for_o the_o ground_n of_o this_o weakness_n let_v themselves_o at_o their_o leisure_n assign_v what_o error_n they_o will_v acknowledge_v if_o they_o like_v not_o that_o which_o i_o have_v assign_v only_o let_v they_o show_v the_o world_n that_o be_v the_o legislative_a power_n of_o this_o kingdom_n what_o error_n it_o be_v that_o they_o have_v hitherto_o have_v which_o be_v avoid_v for_o the_o future_a all_o those_o difficulty_n both_o maintain_v this_o church_n to_o be_v reform_v and_o yet_o to_o allow_v those_o that_o be_v make_v presbyter_n by_o those_o bishop_n not_o to_o ordain_v other_o but_o to_o minister_v the_o office_n of_o their_o order_n according_a to_o the_o reformation_n settle_v in_o this_o church_n i_o say_v to_o allow_v they_o to_o ordain_v other_o to_o minister_v their_o office_n by_o other_o law_n not_o only_o without_o but_o against_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o bishop_n from_o who_o they_o have_v their_o
can_v have_v power_n to_o introduce_v any_o thing_n for_o reformation_n in_o the_o church_n but_o that_o which_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o whole_a church_n either_o injoyn_v or_o allow_v not_o as_o if_o the_o least_o tittle_n of_o scripture_n be_v not_o enough_o to_o warrant_v that_o which_o it_o injoyn_v to_o be_v the_o reformation_n of_o the_o church_n but_o whereas_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o scripture_n be_v that_o which_o remain_v questionable_a not_o the_o authority_n of_o it_o that_o nothing_o can_v be_v the_o true_a sense_n of_o the_o scripture_n which_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o whole_a church_n contradict_v and_o therefore_o that_o though_o there_o be_v a_o appearance_n of_o truth_n in_o such_o a_o sense_n yet_o it_o be_v not_o for_o a_o christian_a kingdom_n to_o enact_v it_o for_o law_n till_o it_o be_v due_o debate_v and_o that_o be_v do_v it_o will_v infallible_o appear_v in_o all_o which_o in_o most_o thing_n appear_v already_o that_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o whole_a church_n can_v contradict_v the_o true_a sense_n of_o the_o scripture_n and_o that_o it_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o not_o know_v the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o that_o make_v it_o seem_v otherwise_o if_o the_o scripture_n itself_o be_v not_o nor_o can_v be_v own_v for_o god_n word_n but_o by_o the_o consent_n of_o god_n people_n from_o the_o beginning_n attest_v the_o motive_n of_o faith_n relate_v in_o the_o scripture_n to_o have_v be_v infallible_o do_v by_o submit_v to_o the_o faith_n which_o they_o enforce_v then_o must_v the_o same_o consent_n be_v of_o force_n to_o
