love_v his_o friend_n entire_o will_v not_o only_o do_v what_o he_o command_v but_o he_o will_v do_v it_o also_o with_o alacrity_n and_o use_v the_o best_a mean_v he_o can_v for_o that_o end_n so_o shall_v we_o do_v the_o like_a towards_o god_n if_o we_o love_v he_o fervent_o 2._o how_o shall_v we_o know_v which_o be_v the_o mean_n to_o attain_v to_o this_o perfection_n we_o may_v know_v this_o by_o look_v upon_o the_o life_n of_o our_o bless_a saviour_n and_o by_o see_v what_o thing_n those_o be_v which_o he_o exhort_v those_o to_o who_o be_v near_a about_o he_o for_o certain_o see_v that_o out_o saviour_n come_v to_o teach_v we_o not_o only_a perfection_n itself_o but_o also_o the_o mean_n to_o attain_v unto_o it_o and_o this_o by_o make_v himself_o our_o pattern_n that_o be_v by_o leave_v unto_o we_o a_o example_n in_o his_o own_o life_n for_o we_o to_o imitate_v there_o can_v be_v no_o doubt_n but_o that_o those_o thing_n which_o he_o himself_o embrace_v for_o our_o instruction_n and_o which_o he_o enure_v his_o most_o familiar_a friend_n unto_o be_v the_o most_o efficacious_a mean_n to_o attain_v to_o the_o height_n of_o christian_a perfection_n 3._o where_o shall_v we_o find_v these_o thing_n we_o shall_v find_v they_o at_o large_a in_o the_o four_o evangelift_n who_o write_v the_o life_n of_o our_o bless_a saviour_n and_o for_o that_o reason_n they_o be_v call_v the_o evangelicall_a counsel_n and_o the_o practice_n of_o they_o be_v call_v particular_o the_o imitation_n of_o christ_n 4._o how_o many_o be_v the_o evangelicall_a counsel_n there_o be_v very_o many_o set_v down_o in_o the_o gospel_n whereof_o there_o be_v three_o which_o be_v the_o principal_a call_v voluntary_a poverty_n perpetual_a chastity_n and_o entire_a obedience_n of_o which_o the_o religious_a order_n do_v make_v their_o essential_a vow_n and_o by_o they_o they_o be_v main_o assist_v to_o extirpate_v those_o three_o pernicious_a root_n from_o which_o most_o sin_n do_v proceed_v to_o wit_n luxury_n avarice_n and_o pride_n 5._o what_o be_v mean_v by_o the_o counsel_n of_o poverty_n we_o understand_v by_o it_o a_o voluntary_a renounce_v all_o worldly_a wealth_n a_o thing_n which_o our_o saviour_n do_v teach_v both_o by_o word_n and_o example_n and_o after_o he_o the_o holy_a apostle_n follow_v it_o and_o the_o first_o christian_n do_v practice_v it_o at_o jerusalem_n in_o the_o primitive_a church_n 6._o wherein_o do_v consist_v the_o counsel_n of_o perpetual_a chastity_n it_o consist_v in_o a_o resolution_n to_o abstain_v perpetual_o not_o only_o from_o all_o sort_n of_o carnal_a sin_n but_o even_o from_o lawful_a marriage_n itself_o which_o also_o our_o saviour_n christ_n do_v both_o teach_v and_o practice_v 7._o wherein_o consist_v the_o counsel_n of_o entire_a obedience_n it_o consist_v in_o renounce_v our_o own_o proper_a will_n and_o judgement_n which_o in_o holy_a scripture_n be_v call_v the_o deny_v of_o ourselves_o by_o submit_v ourselves_o to_o the_o will_n of_o a_o superior_a for_o the_o honour_n and_o love_n of_o god_n which_o counsel_n our_o saviour_n not_o only_o teach_v by_o word_n but_o also_o by_o perfect_a example_n submit_v himself_o for_o so_o many_o year_n to_o his_o mother_n the_o bless_a virgin_n and_o to_o s._n joseph_n his_o suppose_a father_n on_o earth_n 8._o what_o fruit_n and_o profit_n be_v there_o get_v by_o observe_v these_o holy_a counsel_n they_o main_o help_v to_o take_v away_o the_o impediment_n of_o christian_a perfection_n which_o consist_v in_o charity_n the_o impediment_n whereof_o be_v chief_o three_o to_o wit_n the_o love_n of_o temporal_a good_n which_o be_v take_v away_o by_o poverty_n the_o love_n of_o carnal_a pleasure_n which_o be_v take_v away_o by_o chastity_n and_o final_o the_o love_n of_o worldly_a honour_n and_o power_n which_o be_v take_v away_o by_o obedience_n moreover_o whereas_o a_o man_n have_v but_o three_o sort_n of_o good_n a_o soul_n a_o body_n and_o his_o exterior_a wealth_n by_o give_v his_o exterior_a good_n to_o god_n by_o poverty_n his_o body_n by_o chastity_n and_o his_o soul_n by_o obedience_n he_o make_v a_o perfect_a sacrifice_n to_o god_n of_o all_o he_o have_v and_o thereby_o dispose_v himself_o to_o the_o perfection_n of_o charity_n in_o the_o best_a manner_n that_o in_o this_o life_n be_v possible_a 9_o be_v these_o three_o evangelicall_a counsel_n give_v to_o all_o christian_n in_o general_n yes_o for_o although_o the_o embrace_v of_o they_o by_o vow_n and_o in_o that_o manner_n as_o we_o have_v declare_v they_o here_o belong_v proper_o to_o religious_a man_n whereby_o they_o be_v afterward_o tie_v to_o they_o no_o less_o then_o if_o they_o be_v precept_n and_o so_o be_v oblige_v to_o perform_v they_o more_o strict_o than_o other_o be_v yet_o all_o christian_n be_v call_v to_o that_o perfection_n which_o be_v attain_v by_o these_o three_o evangelicall_a counsel_n and_o consequent_o aught_o to_o practice_v actual_o these_o three_o virtue_n poverty_n chastity_n and_o obedience_n in_o some_o measure_n proportionable_a to_o the_o state_n and_o condition_n in_o which_o they_o live_v as_o poverty_n by_o give_v actual_o part_n of_o their_o good_n to_o the_o poor_a and_o by_o endure_v with_o patience_n and_o alacrity_n the_o want_n of_o such_o commodity_n which_o they_o themselves_o have_v need_n of_o chastity_n by_o moderate_v the_o use_n of_o lawful_a marriage_n obedience_n by_o submit_v themselves_o to_o the_o direction_n of_o some_o prudent_a and_o devout_a person_n and_o by_o yield_v in_o indifferent_a thing_n to_o the_o will_n and_o judgement_n of_o other_o with_o who_o they_o converse_v mortify_v thereby_o their_o own_o will_n and_o proper_a inclination_n for_o since_o these_o be_v mean_n to_o attain_v to_o perfection_n of_o christianity_n christ_n who_o bid_v all_o christian_n without_o exception_n to_o be_v perfect_a as_o his_o father_n be_v in_o heaven_n do_v also_o propose_v to_o all_o the_o practice_n of_o these_o his_o holy_a counsel_n which_o be_v the_o mean_n that_o all_o who_o will_v attain_v unto_o perfection_n have_v need_n to_o practice_v in_o some_o degree_n or_o other_o so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o christian_a who_o these_o holy_a counsel_n do_v not_o concern_v and_o whereas_o their_o condition_n of_o life_n will_v not_o permit_v layman_n to_o practice_v actual_o these_o counsel_n in_o that_o latitude_n as_o religious_a man_n do_v yet_o if_o they_o will_v attain_v to_o that_o height_n of_o perfection_n which_o christ_n call_v every_o
