and_o absolution_n 3._o these_o excommunication_n must_v pass_v according_a to_o the_o canon_n against_o all_o that_o shall_v affirm_v that_o there_o be_v any_o thing_n in_o the_o book_n of_o common-prayer_n repugnant_a to_o the_o scripture_n or_o any_o of_o the_o 39_o article_n erroneous_a or_o any_o of_o the_o rite_n and_o ceremony_n such_o as_o he_o may_v not_o with_o a_o good_a conscience_n subscribe_v to_o or_o that_o the_o government_n by_o arch-bishop_n bishop_n dean_n arch-deacon_n and_o the_o rest_n that_o bear_v office_n in_o the_o church_n of_o england_n be_v repugnant_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n or_o that_o any_o thing_n in_o the_o form_n and_o manner_n of_o make_v &_o consecrate_v bishop_n priest_n or_o deacon_n be_v repugnant_a to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n etc._n etc._n 4._o the_o present_a doubt_n be_v whether_o a_o minister_n who_o know_v such_o of_o his_o parish_n to_o be_v godly_a peaceable_a man_n who_o the_o chancellor_n decretive_o excommunicate_v may_v both_o open_o read_v and_o declare_v such_o excommunication_n and_o also_o swear_v or_o covenant_n so_o to_o do_v in_o obedience_n to_o the_o ordinary_a and_o whether_o when_o he_o know_v that_o a_o wicked_a impenitent_a man_n be_v absolve_v he_o may_v pronounce_v such_o absolution_n xxviii_o the_o oath_n of_o canonical_a obedience_n seem_v to_o mean_a obedience_n according_a to_o the_o canon_n and_o he_o that_o covenant_v to_o obey_v his_o ordinary_a must_v be_v suppose_v to_o mean_v no_o less_o than_o according_a to_o the_o canon_n law_n by_o which_o he_o be_v know_v to_o govern_v and_o as_o government_n thereby_o be_v exercise_v 2._o and_o if_o so_o then_o there_o be_v more_o thing_n in_o the_o canon_n and_o present_a government_n which_o the_o nonconformist_n dare_v not_o swear_v or_o covenant_n to_o obey_v beside_o those_o already_o name_v than_o we_o will_v now_o stand_v to_o enumerate_v xxix_o the_o rubric_n say_v that_o the_o minister_n who_o repell_v any_o from_o the_o sacrament_n shall_v be_v oblige_v to_o give_v a_o account_n of_o the_o same_o to_o the_o ordinary_a within_o 14_o day_n after_o at_o the_o further_a 2._o if_o all_o that_o by_o gross_a ignorance_n atheism_n infidelity_n sadducism_n heresy_n schism_n drunkenness_n whoredom_n steal_v malice_n etc._n etc._n be_v uncapable_a of_o the_o communion_n be_v present_v to_o from_o the_o bishop_n and_o the_o bishop_n be_v divers_a of_o they_o so_o much_o at_o london_n or_o abroad_o as_o that_o it_o can_v be_v expect_v that_o all_o these_o must_v be_v present_v to_o the_o bishop_n himself_o but_o to_o the_o chancellor_n court_n as_o be_v usual_a 4._o the_o chancellor_n court_n be_v so_o far_o from_o most_o minister_n in_o the_o land_n and_o the_o prosecute_n so_o many_o when_o proof_n be_v demand_v will_v be_v so_o chargeable_a and_o take_v up_o so_o much_o time_n as_o that_o it_o will_v undo_v many_o poor_a minister_n that_o have_v scarce_o enough_o to_o maintain_v their_o family_n and_o it_o will_v take_v up_o the_o time_n which_o they_o shall_v use_v in_o the_o necessary_a labour_n for_o their_o flock_n 5._o the_o chancellor_n be_v a_o lie_v man_n to_o who_o they_o must_v be_v present_v and_o the_o issue_n will_v be_v but_o a_o lie_v man_n excommunicate_v they_o if_o obstinate_a or_o absolve_v they_o which_o be_v not_o justify_v by_o the_o bishop_n themselves_o 6._o at_o the_o say_a chancellor_n court_v thing_n be_v manage_v as_o at_o a_o civil_a judicature_n there_o be_v not_o that_o endeavour_n to_o convince_v sinner_n by_o scripture_n and_o to_o draw_v they_o to_o true_a repentance_n by_o humble_v evidence_n entreaty_n and_o prayer_n for_o they_o as_o shall_v be_v for_o the_o save_n of_o a_o soul_n from_o sin_n but_o the_o charge_n of_o the_o court_n fee_n and_o the_o fear_n of_o a_o prison_n after_o excommunication_n make_v it_o a_o unacceptable_a and_o as_o unlikely_a mean_n to_o convert_v man_n as_o the_o stock_n 7._o therefore_o for_o a_o minister_n to_o present_v all_o his_o parishioner_n to_o such_o court_n who_o he_o be_v bind_v to_o deny_v the_o sacrament_n to_o be_v but_o to_o make_v he_o seem_v their_o great_a
