clear_a and_o demonstrative_a proof_n that_o a_o thing_n be_v so_o unless_o they_o can_v see_v the_o reason_n why_o it_o shall_v be_v so_o a_o way_n which_o of_o late_o have_v mighty_o prevail_v and_o have_v in_o a_o great_a measure_n thrust_v all_o reveal_v and_o institute_v religion_n out_o of_o the_o world_n we_o can_v always_o give_v the_o natural_a reason_n of_o thing_n not_o because_o there_o be_v none_o but_o because_o they_o lie_v too_o deep_a for_o we_o to_o discover_v they_o and_o if_o we_o can_v fathom_v nature_n which_o be_v more_o expose_v to_o our_o view_n and_o observation_n how_o unreasonable_a be_v it_o to_o think_v to_o fathom_v the_o unsearchable_a counsel_n of_o god_n in_o such_o matter_n as_o whole_o depend_v upon_o his_o sovereign_a will_n and_o have_v no_o apparent_a cause_n but_o his_o own_o good_a pleasure_n matter_n of_o revelation_n can_v be_v discover_v only_o by_o revelation_n and_o in_o such_o act_n of_o sovereign_a grace_n it_o be_v abundant_o sufficient_a if_o god_n tell_v we_o what_o he_o will_v do_v for_o we_o and_o in_o what_o way_n he_o will_v do_v it_o without_o assign_v the_o reason_n why_o he_o do_v so_o but_o yet_o to_o satisfy_v these_o man_n that_o it_o be_v necessary_a for_o god_n to_o maintain_v and_o preserve_v the_o authority_n of_o subordinate_a governor_n that_o the_o authority_n of_o church_n governor_n consist_v in_o the_o power_n of_o administer_a sacrament_n which_o confer_v a_o title_n to_o all_o the_o privilege_n and_o grace_n of_o the_o covenant_n that_o this_o authority_n can_v be_v maintain_v if_o unauthorized_a person_n and_o allow_v what_o be_v so_o illegal_o do_v now_o in_o answer_n to_o this_o i_o ready_o grant_v 1._o that_o this_o be_v a_o very_a good_a argument_n to_o prove_v that_o the_o authority_n of_o administer_a sacrament_n be_v in_o ordinary_a case_n confine_v to_o the_o regular_a clergy_n for_o indeed_o this_o be_v all_o the_o authority_n church_n governor_n have_v to_o receive_v in_o and_o to_o put_v out_o of_o the_o church_n and_o take_v away_o this_o and_o all_o church-society_n must_v immediate_o dissolve_v or_o hang_v together_o only_o by_o some_o arbitrary_a compact_n and_o covenant_n which_o last_o as_o long_o as_o every_o man_n please_v but_o then_o 2._o i_o observe_v that_o it_o be_v sufficient_a to_o secure_v the_o authority_n and_o government_n of_o the_o church_n no_o such_o governor_n and_o where_o there_o be_v their_o authority_n be_v secure_v this_o way_n no_o man_n think_v it_o any_o injury_n to_o the_o authority_n of_o prince_n and_o civil_a governor_n to_o assert_v that_o every_o private_a man_n have_v liberty_n to_o defend_v his_o own_o life_n and_o fortune_n where_o he_o be_v not_o under_o the_o protection_n of_o law_n and_o public_a justice_n no_o more_o be_v it_o any_o invasion_n of_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o clergy_n for_o private_a christian_n to_o do_v the_o office_n of_o a_o bishop_n or_o a_o presbyter_n where_o there_o be_v no_o bishop_n or_o presbyter_n to_o do_v it_o no_o doubt_n but_o god_n be_v great_o concern_v to_o maintain_v the_o authority_n of_o church-governor_n because_o the_o welfare_n and_o preservation_n of_o the_o church_n depend_v on_o it_o but_o we_o can_v think_v the_o rule_n of_o order_n and_o government_n be_v so_o strict_a as_o to_o dissolve_v the_o society_n of_o the_o church_n which_o it_o be_v design_v to_o maintain_v if_o it_o be_v object_v that_o it_o be_v very_o dangerous_a to_o ecclesiastical_a authority_n to_o grant_v the_o least_o indulgence_n or_o liberty_n to_o laic_n or_o a_o irregular_a clergy_n in_o any_o case_n whatsoever_o to_o inermeddle_v in_o sacred_a office_n for_o they_o will_v always_o be_v apt_a to_o take_v more_o than_o be_v grant_v and_o thus_o that_o liberty_n which_o be_v allow_v in_o extraordinary_a case_n will_v be_v improve_v into_o a_o ordinary_a usurpation_n of_o the_o ministerial_a office_n i_o answer_v it_o may_v be_v so_o and_o i_o know_v no_o way_n to_o prevent_v those_o ill_a consequence_n which_o foolish_a reasoner_n may_v draw_v from_o truth_n itself_o nor_o that_o ill_a use_n which_o wild_a and_o giddy_a people_n may_v make_v of_o christian_n who_o live_v in_o communion_n with_o their_o bishop_n and_o own_o their_o authority_n be_v reduce_v to_o that_o necessity_n that_o they_o can_v enjoy_v the_o sacrament_n nor_o other_o religious_a office_n from_o person_n who_o have_v a_o regular_a authority_n shall_v administer_v the_o sacrament_n themselves_o and_o celebrate_v religious_a office_n for_o their_o spiritual_a comfort_n i_o can_v see_v that_o it_o be_v either_o schism_n or_o usurpation_n and_o the_o perpetual_a obligation_n to_o catholic_n communion_n will_v prevent_v both_o indeed_o nothing_o can_v secure_v the_o peace_n and_o unity_n of_o the_o church_n and_o the_o authority_n of_o ecclesiastical_a governor_n but_o the_o necessity_n of_o catholic_n communion_n for_o the_o unity_n of_o the_o church_n and_o the_o just_a authority_n of_o bishop_n may_v be_v destroy_v by_o a_o episcopal_a as_o well_o as_o by_o a_o presbyterian_a or_o a_o lay_v schism_n thus_o it_o be_v by_o the_o schism_n of_o the_o donatist_n they_o be_v govern_v by_o bishop_n as_o well_o as_o the_o catholic_n church_n and_o their_o order_n and_o sacrament_n administer_v by_o they_o be_v allow_v to_o be_v valid_a and_o yet_o they_o be_v schismatic_n and_o their_o sacrament_n though_o valid_a with_o respect_n to_o the_o authority_n which_o administer_v they_o yet_o without_o effect_n as_o administer_v in_o a_o schism_n as_o i_o have_v already_o show_v from_o st._n austin_n and_o therefore_o that_o father_n in_o his_o write_n against_o the_o donatist_n do_v not_o oppose_v their_o schism_n from_o the_o invalidity_n of_o their_o order_n or_o of_o their_o sacrament_n which_o be_v no_o argument_n against_o a_o episcopal_a schism_n though_o it_o be_v the_o only_a argument_n use_v by_o this_o learned_a man_n to_o show_v the_o evil_a and_o danger_n of_o schism_n but_o from_o their_o breach_n of_o catholic_n communion_n which_o make_v all_o their_o sacrament_n though_o not_o invalid_a yet_o
