secondary_a sense_n the_o church_n that_o be_v make_v up_o of_o they_o than_o what_o you_o say_v must_v needs_o be_v false_a viz._n that_o christ_n design_v salvation_n to_o the_o church_n primary_o and_o to_o particular_a member_n secondary_o as_o in_o union_n with_o the_o church_n the_o former_a of_o which_o i_o affect_v for_o these_o reason_n first_o because_o all_o individual_a sincere_a christian_n have_v all_o qualification_n that_o be_v absolute_o necessary_a to_o salvation_n antecedent_o to_o a_o visible_a church_n state_n as_o actual_a faith_n and_o repentance_n if_o they_o be_v body_n politic_a visible_a or_o invisible_a i_o know_v not_o but_o sure_o i_o be_o the_o head_n thereof_o which_o be_v the_o more_o principal_a part_n in_o invisible_a but_o this_o he_o say_v that_o conceive_v this_o will_v not_o serve_v his_o turn_n without_o the_o can_v equal_o imagine_v how_o a_o man_n by_o hold_v communion_n with_o the_o city_n of_o london_n may_v be_v say_v thereby_o to_o hold_v a_o civil_a external_a communion_n with_o all_o mankind_n which_o i_o think_v be_v so_o wild_a a_o conceit_n as_o no_o man_n yet_o ever_o assert_v for_o he_o must_v remember_v he_o be_v speak_v of_o such_o a_o external_a communion_n that_o be_v proper_a to_o a_o politic_a visible_a body_n to_o the_o constitute_n of_o which_o kind_n of_o communion_n it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o have_v the_o same_o law_n the_o same_o custom_n no_o nor_o the_o same_o kind_n of_o solemn_a meeting_n for_o worship_n to_o speak_v all_o visible_a christian_n to_o be_v of_o the_o same_o external_a politic_a communion_n for_o suppose_v in_o france_n they_o have_v the_o same_o law_n and_o custom_n the_o same_o kind_n of_o officer_n as_o constable_n justices_z parliament_z and_o a_o king_n as_o we_o have_v in_o england_n and_o all_o under_o the_o government_n of_o the_o very_a same_o invisible_a god_n it_o do_v not_o follow_v so_o long_o as_o there_o be_v no_o dependence_n of_o these_o kingdom_n each_o on_o the_o other_o that_o therefore_o the_o people_n of_o england_n be_v of_o the_o same_o external_a politic_a communion_n with_o those_o in_o france_n yea_o further_o though_o these_o two_o kingdom_n may_v mutual_o in_o time_n of_o peace_n advise_v with_o each_o other_o for_o their_o mutual_a profit_n and_o in_o case_n of_o difference_n betwixt_o they_o they_o may_v forbid_v trade_v or_o converse_v with_o each_o other_o which_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o civil_a excommunication_n yet_o for_o all_o this_o they_o may_v not_o be_v say_v to_o be_v of_o the_o same_o external_a civil_a politic_a communion_n and_o why_o because_o their_o respective_a magistrate_n be_v independent_a and_o have_v no_o jurisdiction_n over_o each_o other_o upon_o the_o very_a same_o ground_n i_o deny_v any_o same_o external_a politic_a communion_n than_o the_o like_a agreement_n may_v speak_v the_o kingdom_n of_o france_n and_o that_o of_o england_n of_o the_o same_o politic_a civil_a communion_n and_o why_o but_o because_o christ_n have_v leave_v no_o visible_a politic_a head_n to_o have_v jurisdiction_n over_o the_o rest_n if_o you_o say_v this_o notion_n speak_v a_o good_a word_n for_o the_o headship_n of_o the_o pope_n i_o answer_v no_o such_o matter_n for_o there_o be_v no_o need_n of_o such_o a_o head_n nor_o of_o any_o such_o external_a politic_a communion_n in_o the_o church_n no_o more_o than_o in_o the_o world_n god_n have_v well_o enough_o govern_v the_o world_n without_o any_o such_o universal_a civil_a monarch_n and_o do_v as_o well_o govern_v the_o church_n without_o any_o such_o universal_a visible_a head_n and_o now_o let_v we_o see_v what_o of_o force_n than_o be_v in_o his_o second_o reason_n which_o be_v this_o such_o a_o conjunction_n in_o external_a communion_n with_o he_o catholic_n visible_a church_n be_v necessary_a else_o we_o can_v possible_o partake_v of_o the_o privilege_n that_o christ_n have_v make_v over_o to_o this_o his_o church_n as_o the_o remission_n of_o sin_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n i_o answer_v he_o say_v that_o christ_n have_v make_v over_o the_o privilege_n of_o pardon_n of_o sin_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o his_o spirit_n to_o the_o church_n primary_o and_o that_o before_o any_o particular_a person_n can_v partake_v of_o pardon_n of_o sin_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n he_o must_v join_v with_o the_o church_n in_o external_a communion_n but_o how_o absurd_a be_v all_o this_o by_o church_n he_o here_o mean_v the_o catholic_n visible_a church_n but_o i_o wonder_v how_o it_o can_v be_v true_o say_v that_o pardon_n of_o sin_n or_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v make_v over_o to_o the_o visible_a church_n as_o privilege_n when_o as_o it_o be_v very_o certain_a that_o christ_n never_o make_v over_o such_o privilege_n to_o the_o church_n as_o visible_a but_o i_o perceive_v he_o understand_v it_o ministerial_o that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o a_o man_n be_v pardon_v or_o partake_v of_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n but_o by_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o church_n well_o let_v this_o be_v grant_v what_o will_v thence_o follow_v i_o be_o sure_a that_o will_v not_o follow_v which_o you_o say_v do_v follow_v that_o therefore_o we_o must_v first_o be_v make_v member_n of_o the_o church_n before_o we_o can_v be_v pardon_v or_o sanctify_v by_o with_o the_o church_n suppose_v now_o these_o infidel_n be_v by_o the_o sermon_n convince_v and_o perfect_o convert_v to_o a_o true_a faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n i_o now_o demand_v these_o man_n that_o thus_o be_v convert_v do_v they_o believe_v without_o or_o with_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n again_o so_o soon_o as_o they_o have_v believe_v be_v they_o pardon_v or_o be_v they_o not_o i_o say_v they_o can_v not_o have_v believe_v without_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o that_o so_o soon_o as_o they_o true_o believe_v they_o be_v pardon_v and_o you_o dare_v not_o i_o think_v say_v the_o contrary_n now_o i_o pray_v you_o be_v not_o this_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o pardon_v of_o sin_n communicate_v before_o these_o man_n be_v join_v to_o the_o church_n as_o all_o this_o while_n speak_v of_o the_o universal_a visible_a church_n but_o they_o that_o hold_v that_o position_n maintain_v it_o only_o with_o respect_n to_o a_o particular_a church_n
high_a priest_n and_o that_o the_o great_a body_n of_o the_o nation_n shall_v meet_v by_o his_o command_n at_o one_o place_n as_o the_o jew_n at_o the_o temple_n of_o jerusalem_n for_o public_a worship_n than_o i_o confess_v he_o will_v have_v some_o colour_n for_o assert_v of_o national_a christian_n church_n and_o of_o a_o national_a membership_n therein_o but_o till_o then_o i_o shall_v take_v the_o boldness_n to_o deny_v that_o any_o christian_n be_v capable_a of_o any_o such_o national_a church_n membership_n but_o if_o he_o do_v here_o mean_a by_o church_n a_o particular_a law_n of_o the_o land_n and_o all_o other_o be_v schismatical_a i_o answer_v this_o be_v soon_o say_v than_o prove_v for_o do_v the_o regularity_n or_o schismaticalnesse_n of_o a_o church_n depend_v a_o change_n of_o a_o act_n may_v be_v make_v schismatical_a to_o morrow_n and_o so_o if_o the_o legislative_a power_n please_v both_o episcopal_a independent_a presbyterian_a anabaptistical_n church_n may_v be_v regular_a and_o schismatical_a in_o their_o turn_n last_o when_o you_o say_v no_o communion_n may_v just_o be_v with_o draw_v from_o but_o when_o it_o can_v be_v continue_v without_o the_o commission_n of_o sin_n here_o again_o i_o desire_v to_o know_v whether_o by_o sin_n you_o mean_v such_o that_o may_v be_v evidence_v to_o be_v such_o to_o the_o conviction_n of_o the_o imposer_n or_o only_o such_o that_o be_v evidence_v to_o the_o conviction_n of_o the_o conscience_n of_o those_o that_o withdraw_v you_o can_v in_o reareason_n require_v the_o first_o except_o you_o will_v run_v y_o ourselves_o upon_o these_o strait_n either_o to_o turn_v papist_n or_o undertake_v to_o convince_v the_o papist_n that_o the_o reason_n why_o you_o come_v off_o from_o they_o and_o their_o worship_n be_v because_o you_o can_v not_o communicate_v with_o they_o therein_o without_o sin_n we_o know_v you_o tell_v they_o so_o and_o give_v your_o reason_n why_o you_o say_v so_o but_o notwithstanding_o all_o you_o say_v they_o be_v not_o convince_v but_o yet_o persist_v to_o call_v you_o schismatic_n but_o what_o then_o be_v you_o move_v with_o their_o censure_n no_o for_o if_o your_o reason_n will_v not_o convince_v they_o yet_o they_o satisfy_v your_o own_o conscience_n and_o therein_o you_o rest_v and_o so_o you_o may_v very_o reasonable_o do_v i_o desire_v now_o
