fear_n and_o knowledge_n of_o god_n &_o yet_o to_o see_v he_o to_o prove_v wicked_a and_o ungodly_a but_o thou_o that_o be_v thus_o afflict_v through_o the_o wicked_a and_o irreligious_a course_n of_o a_o rebellious_a son_n after_o all_o the_o good_a mean_n thou_o have_v use_v to_o reduce_v he_o to_o obedience_n &_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n consider_v with_o patience_n that_o although_o god_n have_v give_v thou_o power_n to_o be_v his_o father_n good_a in_o beget_v he_o and_o to_o his_o mother_n to_o bear_v he_o yet_o neither_o thou_o in_o beget_v nor_o she_o though_o she_o nourish_v he_o in_o her_o womb_n do_v give_v he_o either_o form_n or_o life_n how_o much_o less_o can_v thou_o or_o she_o form_n or_o frame_v his_o mind_n to_o virtue_n and_o godliness_n thou_o may_v give_v good_a &_o harvest_n who_o manure_n his_o ground_n soil_v it_o plough_v it_o sow_n it_o harrow_n it_o and_o as_o near_o as_o he_o can_v keep_v and_o prevent_v the_o vermin_n from_o devour_v the_o seed_n sow_v yet_o it_o be_v not_o his_o labour_n child_n skill_n and_o diligence_n that_o can_v make_v it_o spring_v up_o he_o can_v form_v the_o blade_n nor_o infuse_v the_o grain_n into_o the_o ear_n nor_o so_o prevent_v the_o vermin_n but_o that_o they_o will_v devour_v some_o of_o the_o seed_n neither_o can_v the_o most_o godly_a father_n by_o his_o best_a counsel_n make_v good_a a_o ungodly_a son_n he_o may_v sow_v the_o good_a seed_n of_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o ground_n of_o his_o heart_n he_o may_v harrow_n it_o with_o sharp_a and_o severe_a threat_n and_o may_v endeavour_n to_o prevent_v venomous_a vice_n that_o offer_v to_o choke_v the_o good_a seed_n that_o he_o have_v sow_v but_o if_o his_o heart_n be_v stony_a thorny_a or_o near_o the_o high_a way_n of_o the_o common_a sin_n of_o this_o world_n all_o his_o labour_n care_n and_o diligence_n will_v prove_v in_o vain_a he_o must_v leave_v the_o infusion_n of_o grace_n into_o his_o heart_n unto_o god_n and_o to_o work_v the_o practice_n of_o godliness_n in_o he_o child_n to_o who_o a_o godly_a father_n become_v a_o daily_a and_o faithful_a petitioner_n that_o he_o will_v drive_v away_o satan_n and_o the_o swarm_n of_o his_o wicked_a instrument_n from_o devour_v the_o good_a seed_n and_o from_o sow_v the_o tare_n of_o sin_n and_o the_o weed_n of_o ungodliness_n in_o he_o this_o corrupt_a world_n be_v so_o full_a and_o fraught_v with_o wicked_a and_o lie_v centious_a youth_n that_o as_o soon_o as_o a_o young_a man_n or_o maid_n have_v liberty_n to_o enter_v into_o the_o company_n and_o society_n of_o wanton_n and_o ungodly_a youth_n they_o become_v common_o so_o infect_v with_o their_o manner_n corrupt_a as_o they_o drink_v in_o all_o kind_n of_o vice_n as_o it_o be_v wine_n make_v they_o many_o time_n so_o drunken_a with_o vanity_n by_o example_n and_o lewd_a enticement_n as_o the_o best_a counsel_n of_o wise_a parent_n can_v make_v they_o true_o sober_a again_o and_o to_o
his_o son_n to_o goodness_n and_o to_o a_o godly_a course_n of_o life_n and_o can_v shall_v be_v too_o much_o discourage_v and_o cast_v down_o through_o sorrow_n and_o grief_n that_o he_o shall_v be_v the_o father_n of_o such_o a_o son_n let_v he_o but_o consider_v that_o his_o son_n though_o wicked_a be_v the_o creature_n of_o god_n can_v know_v unto_o he_o before_o he_o be_v form_v in_o the_o womb_n his_o beginning_n course_n of_o life_n and_o end_v determine_v by_o god_n and_o the_o mean_n and_o therefore_o when_o such_o a_o father_n have_v do_v his_o uttermost_a godly_a endeavour_n to_o make_v his_o son_n good_a by_o counsel_n and_o find_v contrary_a effect_n of_o his_o hope_n let_v he_o only_o pray_v for_o he_o the_o best_a and_o last_o duty_n that_o a_o love_a and_o wellwishing_a
