this_o preposterous_a love_n to_o the_o dead_a to_o pray_v for_o they_o can_v find_v sure_a warrant_n we_o desire_v that_o it_o may_v hearty_o be_v think_v of_o how_o ill_o it_o become_v any_o that_o profess_v a_o desire_n to_o please_v god_n which_o command_v obedience_n and_o not_o with_o tradition_n of_o man_n or_o device_n any_o whatsoever_o either_o of_o their_o own_o head_n or_o of_o any_o other_o and_o thus_o much_o of_o it_o sufficient_a then_o be_v say_v of_o these_o circumstance_n of_o prayer_n will_v you_o now_o proceed_v to_o the_o form_n itself_o prescribe_v of_o our_o saviour_n prayer_n content_a and_o first_o consider_v what_o a_o gracious_a goodness_n this_o be_v in_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n to_o lay_v down_o a_o form_n for_o us._n that_o we_o not_o able_a to_o see_v the_o bottom_n of_o our_o want_n ourselves_o neither_o in_o what_o we_o do_v see_v to_o take_v such_o course_n as_o become_v speaker_n to_o so_o great_a a_o god_n by_o his_o own_o mouth_n we_o may_v be_v direct_v both_o in_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o to_o our_o great_a comfort_n and_o assurance_n that_o keep_v ourselves_o within_o the_o compass_n of_o this_o form_n our_o prayer_n shall_v be_v to_o the_o lord_n good_a like_n and_o therefore_o we_o obtain_v what_o we_o ask_v according_a to_o his_o will_n without_o a_o form_n we_o may_v have_v wander_v to_o our_o great_a harm_n ask_v many_o time_n thing_n hurtful_a &_o if_o not_o so_o yet_o thing_n lawful_a not_o in_o form_n lawful_a which_o also_o have_v be_v evil_a and_o if_o heathen_n see_v the_o nakedness_n of_o man_n for_o want_n of_o such_o direction_n let_v we_o christian_n see_v god_n mercy_n and_o our_o own_o great_a good_a by_o this_o direction_n plato_n we_o know_v espy_v the_o ignorance_n of_o man_n in_o make_v their_o prayer_n to_o god_n for_o that_o many_o time_n they_o seek_v what_o grant_v will_v hurt_v they_o say_v this_o be_v a_o good_a form_n use_v o_o jupiter_n rex_fw-la optima_fw-la nobis_fw-la et_fw-la voventibus_fw-la et_fw-la non_fw-la voventibus_fw-la tribuae_fw-la mala_fw-la autem_fw-la poscentibus_fw-la quoque_fw-la abesse_fw-la iube_fw-la that_o be_v o_o jupiter_n king_n give_v unto_o we_o the_o best_a thing_n whether_o we_o ask_v they_o or_o no._n and_o all_o evil_a thing_n command_v away_o from_o we_o though_o we_o ask_v they_o wherein_o we_o may_v see_v how_o dangerous_o they_o grope_v in_o a_o great_a darkness_n for_o want_n of_o a_o form_n and_o be_v fain_o for_o safety_n to_o pray_v thus_o general_o whereas_o we_o now_o plain_o be_v teach_v how_o to_o pray_v more_o particular_o and_o yet_o still_o true_o wherefore_o see_v i_o say_v â—â—rst_v god_n great_a mercy_n &_o our_o great_a good_a by_o have_v this_o form_n lay_v down_o unto_o us._n then_o touch_v the_o form_n itself_o which_o our_o saviour_n have_v lay_v down_o part_n it_o consist_v of_o three_o principal_a part_n first_o of_o a_o preface_n second_o of_o the_o petition_n themselves_o and_o last_o of_o a_o conclusion_n the_o preface_n in_o these_o word_n our_o father_n which_o be_v in_o heaven_n the_o petition_n in_o order_n after_o the_o conclusion_n thus_o for_o thou_o be_v the_o kingdom_n the_o power_n and_o the_o glory_n for_o ever_o &_o ever_o amen_n the_o first_o part_n which_o be_v the_o preface_n short_a in_o word_n but_o plentiful_a in_o matter_n be_v so_o lay_v down_o by_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n as_o that_o every_o word_n carry_v his_o weight_n soul_n and_o bring_v to_o we_o in_o use_n thereof_o most_o singular_a profit_n the_o first_o be_v father_n by_o which_o name_n we_o be_v teach_v to_o speak_v unto_o our_o god_n when_o we_o pray_v unto_o he_o and_o see_v the_o use_n there_o be_v no_o prayer_n as_o we_o well_o know_v and_o before_o have_v be_v often_o in_o our_o corruption_n &_o therefore_o in_o mercy_n of_o a_o gracious_a god_n help_n and_o mean_v provide_v for_o it_o this_o be_v one_o evermore_o to_o consider_v to_o who_o i_o pray_v and_o to_o who_o i_o speak_v namely_o not_o to_o a_o severe_a and_o sour_a judge_n not_o to_o a_o cruel_a and_o merciless_a tyrant_n not_o to_o a_o strange_a that_o know_v i_o not_o or_o have_v no_o alliance_n with_o i_o but_o to_o a_o father_n yea_o in_o jesus_n christ_n now_o my_o father_n a_o kind_n a_o love_a a_o good_a a_o tender_a father_n who_o look_v upon_o i_o with_o bowel_n of_o mercy_n and_o pity_n sigh_v for_o i_o before_o i_o come_v run_v out_o when_o i_o do_v come_v meet_v i_o embrace_v i_o fall_v about_o my_o neck_n with_o his_o arm_n weep_v upon_o i_o in_o melt_a motion_n of_o love_a kindness_n hear_v i_o speak_v weigh_v my_o suit_n whether_o it_o may_v be_v my_o good_a &_o can_v as_o soon_o in_o conclusion_n cease_v to_o be_v god_n as_o deny_v i_o any_o thing_n y_o it_o may_v be_v my_o benefit_n and_o o_o then_o y_z e_z affection_n y_fw-fr t_o we_o may_v pray_v with_o if_o we_o consider_v this_o name_n of_o father_n my_o soul_n may_v thirst_v my_o heart_n may_v long_o yea_o burn_v and_o burst_v as_o it_o be_v within_o i_o w_z t_z desire_v ever_o to_o come_v to_o my_o father_n for_o he_o be_v ever_o a_o father_n &_o have_v ever_o the_o nature_n of_o his_o name_n though_o i_o be_v vile_a and_o therefore_o let_v we_o take_v the_o use_n intend_v by_o the_o lord_n in_o this_o give_a title_n &_o pray_v cheerful_o with_o sweet_a comfort_n in_o the_o conceit_n of_o who_o we_o speak_v unto_o evermore_o when_o affection_n then_o be_v thus_o kindle_v and_o stir_v up_o look_v at_o faith_n in_o the_o next_o place_n which_o also_o must_v concur_v with_o it_o or_o else_o in_o vain_a we_o pray_v and_o obtain_v nothing_o this_o know_v our_o saviour_n well_o father_n and_o therefore_o even_o to_o this_o end_n also_o have_v teach_v we_o to_o say_v and_o pray_v in_o the_o name_n
