absolute_a consideration_n as_o take_v alone_o by_o themselves_o first_o in_o their_o connexion_n and_o so_o i_o say_v they_o be_v a_o qualification_n of_o those_o that_o go_v before_o and_o they_o serve_v to_o show_v unto_o we_o the_o manner_n of_o god_n deal_n with_o his_o people_n which_o be_v to_o mitigate_v his_o affliction_n of_o they_o and_o to_o correct_v they_o still_o in_o measure_n thy_o people_n and_o bless_v thy_o heritage_n etc._n etc._n for_o the_o better_a open_n of_o this_o point_n unto_o we_o we_o must_v know_v that_o a_o inheritance_n it_o do_v contain_v three_o thing_n in_o it_o first_o some_o good_a and_o advantage_n second_o peculiarity_n and_o propriety_n of_o interest_n and_o three_o succession_n and_o derivation_n of_o it_o to_o posterity_n now_o according_o to_o all_o these_o notion_n of_o it_o do_v god_n make_v choice_n of_o his_o people_n to_o be_v a_o inheritance_n to_o himself_o first_o as_o those_o which_o have_v some_o kind_n of_o good_a and_o usefulness_n in_o they_o thus_o to_o speak_v strict_o they_o have_v not_o nor_o they_o have_v it_o not_o of_o themselves_o any_o further_a than_o as_o he_o bestow_v it_o upon_o they_o which_o he_o calamity_n and_o worldly_a miscarriage_n that_o they_o may_v not_o be_v sickly_a or_o weak_o or_o poor_a and_o mean_a and_o low_a in_o their_o outward_a condition_n but_o for_o other_o thing_n they_o may_v be_v what_o they_o will_v be_v as_o wicked_a and_o impious_a and_o graceless_a and_o sinful_a as_o they_o please_v it_o be_v otherwise_o with_o this_o godly_a and_o religious_a parent_n in_o the_o text_n this_o holy_a man_n job_n who_o have_v other_o kind_n of_o thought_n with_o himself_o i_o see_v say_v he_o that_o i_o have_v many_o child_n and_o they_o be_v healthful_a and_o strong_a and_o towardly_a and_o likely_a to_o live_v in_o the_o world_n but_o this_o be_v not_o my_o great_a comfort_n that_o they_o be_v i_o except_o also_o they_o may_v be_v god_n i_o complain_v not_o of_o their_o carriage_n to_o i_o which_o be_v fair_a as_o to_o their_o outward_a deportment_n but_o i_o be_o afraid_a lest_o they_o may_v forget_v he_o and_o trespass_n upon_o he_o it_o may_v be_v my_o son_n have_v sin_v and_o so_o parent_n in_o this_o particular_a they_o shall_v labour_v to_o qualify_v and_o abate_v the_o fear_n of_o they_o there_o be_v no_o question_n but_o job_n have_v be_v careful_a to_o instruct_v his_o child_n and_o as_o become_v so_o godly_a a_o father_n to_o give_v they_o good_a and_o pious_a education_n and_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o he_o be_v anxious_a and_o we_o be_v clothe_v our_o saviour_n in_o this_o case_n send_v we_o in_o another_o place_n to_o the_o bird_n and_o to_o the_o lilly_n and_o beast_n here_o now_o we_o be_v send_v to_o the_o babe_n and_o suckling_n and_o breast_n consider_v what_o god_n have_v do_v here_o in_o this_o particular_a and_o fetch_v a_o argument_n of_o faith_n from_o hence_o it_o be_v a_o good_a security_n to_o we_o for_o our_o sustenance_n and_o daily_a bread_n and_o when_o we_o be_v at_o any_o time_n tempt_v to_o distrustfulness_n we_o shall_v make_v this_o use_n of_o it_o to_o look_v back_o and_o consider_v how_o god_n provide_v for_o we_o in_o this_o condition_n and_o reason_n thus_o he_o that_o feed_v i_o when_o i_o be_v a_o child_n and_o unable_a to_o feed_v myself_o will_v he_o now_o starve_v i_o when_o i_o be_o a_o man_n and_o when_o i_o partake_v of_o more_o ability_n he_o that_o feed_v i_o with_o milk_n will_v he_o not_o feed_v i_o with_o strong_a meat_n he_o that_o have_v feed_v i_o will_v he_o not_o feed_v those_o also_o which_o be_v i_o and_o which_o belong_v unto_o i_o thus_o shall_v we_o argue_v in_o these_o case_n and_o consider_v that_o this_o carp_n and_o care_v as_o it_o be_v especial_o upon_o the_o breast_n of_o his_o mother_n this_o be_v therefore_o by_o the_o way_n a_o good_a item_n and_o admonition_n which_o be_v here_o suggest_v unto_o we_o as_o concern_v parent_n i_o cast_v from_o the_o womb._n here_o be_v a_o further_a expression_n of_o god_n goodness_n and_o mercy_n to_o he_o in_o his_o former_a estate_n there_o be_v two_o manner_n of_o way_n in_o which_o and_o distemper_n and_o that_o be_v david_n himself_o my_o thought_n david_n a_o holy_a person_n a_o prophet_n of_o god_n a_o man_n after_o god_n own_o heart_n even_o he_o be_v exercise_v and_o afflict_v and_o trouble_v with_o this_o variety_n of_o distract_n thought_n from_o whence_o observe_v thus_o much_o that_o even_o the_o child_n of_o god_n themselves_o they_o be_v sometime_o trouble_v with_o anxious_a and_o solicitous_a thought_n and_o that_o also_o in_o a_o very_a great_a multitude_n and_o plurality_n of_o they_o in_o the_o multitude_n of_o my_o thought_n say_v david_n it_o be_v concern_v their_o own_o salvation_n and_o state_n and_o grace_n the_o child_n of_o god_n themselves_o they_o have_v now_o and_o then_o very_a great_a doubt_n and_o distraction_n and_o perplexity_n in_o their_o own_o mind_n in_o reference_n to_o this_o they_o be_v sometime_o at_o a_o loss_n with_o themselves_o as_o concern_v the_o apprehension_n of_o god_n love_n and_o favour_n towards_o they_o and_o their_o own_o interest_n in_o grace_n and_o future_a glory_n thus_o it_o be_v with_o this_o very_a person_n before_o we_o david_n himself_z as_o we_o may_v gather_v from_o his_o own_o complaint_n and_o request_n to_o this_o purpose_n in_o many_o place_n of_o the_o psalm_n more_o particular_o psal_n 13.1_o etc._n etc._n how_o long_o will_v thou_o forget_v i_o o_o lord_n for_o ever_o how_o long_o will_v thou_o hide_v thy_o face_n from_o i_o how_o long_o shall_v i_o take_v counsel_n in_o my_o soul_n have_v sorrow_n in_o my_o heart_n etc._n etc._n and_o so_o psal_n 42.5_o why_o be_v thou_o cast_v down_o o_o my_o soul_n and_o why_o be_v thou_o disquiet_v within_o i_o etc._n etc._n and_o psal_n 51.8_o etc._n etc._n make_v i_o to_o hear_v joy_n and_o gladness_n that_o the_o bone_n which_o thou_o have_v break_v may_v rejoice_v hide_v thy_o face_n from_o my_o sin_n and_o blot_v out_o all_o my_o iniquity_n etc._n etc._n this_o show_v we_o what_o condition_n he_o be_v in_o and_o so_o as_o david_n himself_o so_o likewise_o other_o together_o with_o he_o this_o be_v also_o the_o condition_n of_o job_n he_o be_v trouble_v with_o multitude_n of_o such_o thought_n too_o as_o he_o oftentimes_o complain_v in_o his_o book_n that_o god_n hide_v his_o face_n from_o he_o hold_v he_o as_o a_o enemy_n write_v bitter_a thing_n against_o he_o put_v his_o foot_n into_o the_o stock_n and_o set_v a_o print_n upon_o his_o heel_n scare_v he_o with_o dream_n and_o terrify_v he_o with_o vision_n and_o many_o such_o like_a expression_n of_o disquietness_n as_o these_o be_v and_o so_o likewise_o that_o goodly_a man_n heman_n psal_n 88.14.15_o this_o be_v his_o case_n likewise_o lord_n why_o cast_v thou_o off_o my_o soul_n while_o i_o suffer_v thy_o terror_n i_o be_o distract_v afunah_n anius_n pendeo_fw-la i_o be_o in_o agreat_a doubt_v and_o know_v not_o which_o way_n to_o turn_v i_o this_o be_v that_o which_o god_n sometime_o in_o his_o providence_n suffer_v and_o order_n of_o the_o revelation_n have_v therefore_o a_o messenger_n of_o satan_n send_v to_o buffet_v he_o and_o this_o as_o irksome_a and_o troublesome_a to_o he_o as_o a_o thorn_n in_o the_o flesh_n when_o so_o do_v god_n deal_v with_o his_o child_n in_o his_o dispensation_n and_o carriage_n towards_o they_o he_o have_v the_o like_a economy_n likewise_o some_o time_n he_o do_v it_o to_o show_v his_o own_o liberty_n and_o prerogative_n as_o the_o case_n seem_v to_o have_v be_v with_o job_n though_o more_o frequent_o this_o do_v proceed_v from_o the_o miscarriage_n of_o god_n child_n themselves_o who_o cause_n more_o troublesome_a thought_n to_o themselves_o than_o otherwise_o they_o need_v to_o do_v only_o from_o their_o own_o sin_n and_o default_n that_o which_o we_o may_v gather_v from_o david_n himself_o though_o a_o man_n of_o those_o high_a qualification_n and_o peculiar_a interest_n in_o god_n yet_o he_o be_v not_o free_v from_o these_o trouble_n nor_o the_o variety_n and_o which_o both_o david_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o god_n people_n be_v oftentimes_o subject_a unto_o first_o for_o provision_n what_o they_o shall_v eat_v and_o what_o they_o shall_v drink_v and_o what_o they_o shall_v put_v on_o many_o thought_n of_o distraction_n about_o this_o i_o say_v thought_n of_o distraction_n for_o as_o for_o thought_n of_o providence_n and_o sober_a and_o careful_a contrivance_n they_o be_v such_o as_o be_v no_o other_o than_o suitable_a and_o agreeable_a to_o they_o and_o be_v very_o warrantable_a in_o they_o but_o i_o say_v distract_n and_o perplex_v thought_n these_o be_v such_o as_o be_v very_o irregular_a and_o hurtful_a to_o they_o they_o may_v be_v very_o well_o bring_v within_o the_o compass_n of_o these_o bough-like_a thought_n and_o they_o be_v such_o as_o be_v in_o the_o language_n of_o scripture_n express_v and_o set_v forth_o unto_o we_o by_o the_o name_n of_o thorn_n which_o choke_v the_o word_n that_o it_o become_v unfruitful_a matth._n 13.22_o these_o be_v such_o as_o our_o saviour_n do_v so_o labour_n to_o pluck_v up_o out_o of_o the_o mind_n of_o his_o disciple_n and_o in_o they_o of_o all_o of_o we_o matth._n 6.31_o therefore_o take_v no_o thought_n say_v what_o shall_v we_o eat_v or_o what_o shall_v we_o drink_v or_o wherewithal_o shall_v we_o be_v clothe_v and_o he_o use_v many_o argument_n to_o that_o purpose_n in_o regard_n of_o that_o great_a proneness_n which_o be_v in_o we_o thereunto_o this_o proceed_v from_o want_n of_o due_a consider_v of_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n himself_o for_o we_o and_o our_o relation_n to_o he_o as_o may_v appear_v by_o the_o mean_n whereby_o he_o labour_v to_o settle_v our_o thought_n in_o this_o particular_a verse_n 32._o
of_o that_o chap._n your_o heavenly_a father_n know_v that_o you_o have_v need_n of_o all_o these_o thing_n there_o be_v three_o or_o four_o argument_n at_o once_o in_o those_o word_n to_o take_v we_o off_o from_o anxity_n and_o perplexity_n in_o this_o matter_n first_o from_o god_n relation_n to_o we_o he_o be_v our_o father_n and_o a_o father_n will_v not_o be_v want_v to_o his_o child_n in_o provide_v for_o they_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o great_a nearness_n and_o affection_n to_o they_o child_n that_o have_v a_o father_n to_o take_v care_n for_o they_o they_o take_v so_o much_o the_o less_o care_n for_o themselves_o but_o than_o second_o our_o own_o necessity_n we_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o all_o these_o thing_n a_o father_n though_o he_o will_v provide_v for_o his_o child_n yet_o he_o will_v not_o provide_v all_o kind_n of_o thing_n for_o they_o there_o be_v many_o thing_n which_o they_o may_v as_o well_o want_v as_o have_v and_o he_o will_v not_o trouble_v himself_o about_o they_o but_o you_o have_v need_n of_o all_o these_o thing_n and_o therefore_o he_o will_v not_o fail_v you_o three_o his_o cognizance_n of_o our_o condition_n that_o be_v another_o consideration_n a_o father_n may_v be_v willing_a enough_o to_o provide_v for_o his_o child_n necessity_n if_o he_o know_v that_o they_o be_v in_o necessity_n indeed_o but_o this_o perhaps_o he_o may_v not_o do_v and_o sometime_o he_o do_v not_o yea_o but_o your_o father_n know_v that_o you_o have_v need_n of_o all_o these_o thing_n and_o he_o know_v it_o before_o you_o ask_v he_o to_o verse_n 8._o of_o this_o of_o these_o distract_n thought_n which_o yet_o we_o be_v all_o for_o the_o most_o part_n subject_n unto_o and_o that_o be_v in_o point_n of_o temporal_a provision_n so_o likewise_o second_o in_o point_n of_o preservation_n and_o deliverance_n from_o any_o danger_n which_o at_o any_o time_n we_o be_v subject_a unto_o there_o be_v a_o multitude_n of_o the_o like_a thought_n here_o to_o which_o we_o be_v infest_a with_o all_o we_o never_o think_v ourselves_o safe_a even_o then_o when_o we_o be_v under_o the_o safeguard_n of_o the_o great_a protection_n david_n himself_o still_o to_o keep_v to_o the_o text_n be_v thus_o distract_v especial_o at_o that_o time_n when_o he_o be_v in_o danger_n from_o saul_n persecution_n although_o he_o have_v but_o new_o escape_v and_o have_v be_v make_v mean_n keep_v close_o to_o such_o comfort_n as_o these_o be_v and_o labour_n to_o have_v such_o a_o interest_n in_o they_o as_o may_v be_v both_o satisfactory_a and_o delightful_a to_o they_o in_o their_o great_a distress_n look_v how_o far_o short_a we_o be_v of_o spiritual_a comfort_n so_o far_o short_a also_o of_o true_a pleasure_n and_o delight_n and_o this_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n here_o observable_a to_o wit_n the_o act._n they_o do_v delight_n the_o second_o be_v the_o object_n and_o that_o be_v my_o soul_n we_o show_v before_o know_v the_o grief_n be_v in_o the_o mind_n and_o therefore_o the_o comfort_n must_v be_v so_o also_o that_o the_o remedy_n may_v answer_v the_o malady_n bodily-pleasure_n will_v not_o satisfy_v for_o mind-distraction_n nothing_o will_v ease_v the_o soul_n but_o such_o comfort_n as_o be_v agreeable_a to_o itself_o and_o such_o be_v these_o present_a comfort_n of_o god_n they_o delight_v the_o soul_n and_o so_o by_o consequence_n the_o whole_a man_n for_o if_o that_o be_v well_o all_o will_v be_v well_o with_o it_o bodily_a comfort_n will_v not_o allay_v spiritual_a trouble_n but_o spiritual_a comfort_n will_v make_v a_o very_a great_a amends_o in_o bodily_a infirmity_n a_o good_a heart_n it_o will_v do_v good_a as_o a_o medicine_n as_o solomon_n speak_v and_o it_o will_v give_v marrow_n and_o fatness_n to_o the_o bone_n bodily-pleasure_n which_o be_v no_o way_n answerable_a and_o suitable_a hereunto_o certain_o such_o as_o those_o do_v not_o know_v what_o they_o do_v in_o so_o do_v and_o so_o much_o also_o for_o the_o public_a and_o church_n of_o god_n and_o that_o these_o be_v comfort_n from_o god_n which_o do_v not_o only_o satisfy_v but_o also_o delight_v in_o such_o condition_n now_o what_o remain_v to_o ourselves_o but_o that_o we_o observe_v and_o take_v notice_n of_o these_o truth_n and_o improve_v they_o to_o own_o best_a advantage_n we_o see_v here_o our_o duty_n and_o privilege_n both_o at_o once_o and_o the_o one_o follow_v from_o the_o other_o forasmuch_o as_o there_o be_v comfort_n from_o god_n to_o his_o servant_n in_o their_o great_a uncertainty_n and_o distraction_n of_o thought_n therefore_o it_o lie_v upon_o we_o so_o to_o carry_v and_o to_o demean_v ourselves_o as_o that_o we_o may_v be_v make_v partaker_n of_o this_o comfort_n and_o there_o be_v two_o thing_n especial_o which_o do_v much_o conduce_v and_o tend_v to_o this_o purpose_n the_o one_o be_v the_o improve_n and_o lay_v out_o our_o thought_n for_o god_n and_o the_o other_o be_v the_o refer_v and_o commit_v of_o our_o thought_n to_o he_o in_o the_o practice_n of_o either_o of_o these_o rule_n and_o observation_n still_o we_o find_v this_o truth_n make_v good_a unto_o we_o that_o in_o the_o multitude_n of_o thought_n within_o we_o his_o comfort_n delight_v my_o soul_n first_o we_o must_v be_v careful_a to_o lay_v out_o our_o thought_n for_o god_n we_o must_v remember_v this_o as_o we_o desire_v to_o have_v thought_n of_o comfort_n so_o we_o must_v be_v careful_a to_o have_v thought_n of_o improvement_n which_o will_v reflect_v so_o much_o the_o more_o sweet_o upon_o we_o alas_o what_o be_v these_o what_o be_v we_o able_a to_o think_v of_o for_o he_o who_o of_o ourselves_o can_v think_v nothing_o or_o if_o we_o can_v what_o need_v we_o to_o do_v it_o he_o be_v absolute_a and_o to_o the_o land_n and_o nation_n in_o which_o we_o live_v whereunto_o i_o may_v fit_o apply_v that_o place_n of_o the_o prophet_n jeremiah_n jer._n 29.11_o i_o know_v the_o thought_n that_o i_o earth_n be_v form_v etc._n etc._n and_o second_o the_o constancy_n of_o they_o he_o always_o think_v upon_o we_o no_o father_n more_o natural_o and_o ready_o think_v of_o his_o child_n than_o god_n think_v of_o his_o he_o think_v of_o we_o when_o we_o do_v not_o think_v of_o he_o nor_o think_v of_o his_o think_n of_o we_o nay_o sometime_o when_o we_o have_v thought_n against_o he_o or_o not_o every_o way_n so_o full_a for_o he_o all_o this_o shall_v persuade_v we_o and_o engage_v we_o in_o this_o direct_n of_o our_o thought_n to_o he_o whereof_o we_o now_o speak_v and_o that_o in_o order_n to_o the_o compose_v and_o settle_v of_o thought_n in_o ourselves_o which_o be_v so_o much_o the_o soon_o do_v for_o we_o turn_v holy_a meditation_n into_o holy_a resolution_n and_o those_o into_o world_n we_o for_o our_o part_n shall_v endeavour_v to_o be_v otherwise_o where_o we_o observe_v any_o decay_n of_o spiritual_a strength_n in_o we_o there_o as_o soon_o as_o we_o can_v to_o renew_v it_o this_o it_o will_v near_o concern_v we_o to_o do_v upon_o these_o consideration_n first_o in_o point_n of_o honour_n and_o that_o especial_o with_o god_n himself_o spiritual_a weakness_n it_o be_v a_o disparagement_n especial_o if_o you_o take_v it_o in_o the_o relapse_n and_o after_o some_o former_a degree_n of_o strength_n it_o be_v no_o disgrace_n for_o a_o man_n to_o have_v a_o weak_a body_n that_o have_v no_o moral_a evil_n or_o inconvenience_n in_o it_o but_o to_o have_v a_o weak_a soul_n be_v very_o disgraceful_a for_o one_o that_o heretofore_o have_v be_v strong_a in_o spirit_n and_o in_o his_o inward_a man_n now_o to_o decline_v and_o grow_v weak_a and_o continue_v so_o it_o be_v very_o dishonourable_a the_o excellency_n of_o dignity_n and_o the_o excellency_n of_o strength_n they_o go_v both_o together_o and_o he_o that_o fall_v from_o the_o one_o he_o do_v with_o reuben_n fall_v also_o from_o the_o other_o while_o he_o become_v as_o weak_a as_o water_n he_o shall_v not_o excel_v gen._n 49.2_o second_o as_o it_o concern_v we_o in_o point_n of_o honour_n so_o likewise_o in_o point_n of_o ease_n a_o weak_a christian_a be_v so_o far_o forth_o a_o burden_n to_o himself_o as_o meet_v with_o many_o difficulty_n which_o he_o can_v grapple_v withal_o but_o prove_v to_o hard_o for_o he_o there_o be_v many_o occurrence_n in_o a_o christian_n life_n which_o overcome_v by_o they_o there_o be_v many_o temptation_n to_o resist_v and_o many_o affliction_n to_o endure_v and_o many_o duty_n to_o perform_v all_o which_o be_v not_o do_v without_o strength_n nor_o without_o strength_n in_o some_o degree_n of_o it_o neither_o at_o least_o not_o do_v strong_o and_o as_o they_o ought_v to_o be_v do_v by_o we_o weakness_n it_o will_v work_v like_o itself_o where_o the_o faculty_n be_v but_o indifferent_a the_o operation_n will_v be_v answerable_a thereunto_o it_o be_v so_o as_o in_o natural_n so_o in_o spiritual_n three_o in_o point_n of_o safety_n there_o be_v another_o consideration_n in_o that_o those_o which_o be_v but_o spiritual_o weak_a they_o be_v expose_v to_o sundry_a danger_n to_o staggering_n and_o fall_n especial_o from_o the_o spiritual_a enemy_n who_o be_v still_o sure_a to_o apply_v himself_o to_o the_o weak_a and_o to_o none_o more_o than_o to_o such_o as_o be_v so_o from_o any_o apostasy_n or_o decline_a where_o he_o can_v find_v a_o advantage_n against_o we_o here_o he_o will_v be_v sure_a to_o follow_v it_o and_o improve_v it_o to_o the_o utmost_a and_o that_o also_o to_o a_o further_o weaken_v of_o we_o still_o beside_o that_o then_o we_o be_v under_o great_a hazard_n from_o god_n himself_o where_o we_o be_v weak_a with_o a_o weakness_n of_o imperfection_n weak_a in_o grace_n as_o child_n be_v weak_a there_o the_o lord_n pity_v and_o help_v we_o he_o know_v our_o frame_n and_o he_o consider_v what_o we_o be_v he_o relieve_v our_o infirmity_n for_o we_o but_o where_o we_o be_v weak_a with_o a_o weakness_n of_o relapse_n through_o carelessness_n and_o neglect_n of_o ourselves_o there_o the_o lord_n do_v oftentimes_o punish_v we_o and_o correct_v we_o as_o be_v angry_a with_o we_o in_o regard_n therefore_o of_o the_o danger_n which_o we_o stand_v in_o towards_o god_n it_o concern_v we_o to_o renew_v our_o strength_n upon_o any_o seem_a decay_n last_o in_o point_n of_o comfort_n also_o it_o concern_v we_o also_o for_o this_o a_o weak_a christian_a will_v be_v a_o uncomfortable_a christian_a he_o will_v not_o have_v so_o much_o liveliness_n and_o refreshment_n in_o his_o own_o spirit_n because_o that_o grace_n will_v not_o reflect_v with_o so_o much_o evidence_n upon_o he_o a_o man_n that_o have_v but_o grace_n in_o a_o weak_a measure_n though_o he_o have_v true_a grace_n in_o he_o as_o well_o as_o he_o which_o have_v strong_a yet_o he_o will_v not_o be_v able_a so_o easy_o to_o discern_v it_o and_o consequent_o will_v not_o reap_v so_o much_o comfort_n and_o sweetness_n from_o it_o as_o otherwise_o he_o will_v those_o that_o be_v but_o weak_a christian_n and_o be_v content_a so_o to_o be_v it_o will_v be_v a_o very_a hard_a matter_n for_o they_o to_o discern_v and_o apprehend_v whether_o they_o be_v christian_n or_o no_o and_o so_o they_o will_v be_v ready_a to_o go_v droop_v and_o mourn_v all_o their_o life_n long_o from_o this_o distemper_n all_o these_o thing_n lay_v together_o shall_v according_o serve_v to_o work_v upon_o we_o and_o to_o persuade_v we_o to_o this_o duty_n in_o hand_n of_o recover_v our_o strength_n there_o where_o it_o be_v decay_v in_o spiritual_a matter_n we_o see_v how_o it_o be_v with_o man_n in_o other_o matter_n in_o matter_n of_o the_o world_n if_o it_o be_v as_o to_o their_o outward_a man_n where_o they_o observe_v any_o particular_n but_o so_o much_o of_o the_o first_o explication_n christian_n they_o be_v to_o renew_v their_o strength_n that_o be_v to_o repair_v it_o by_o way_n of_o recovery_n where_o it_o be_v to_o content_v himself_o with_o any_o measure_n of_o strength_n which_o he_o have_v receive_v but_o to_o labour_v still_o for_o more_o the_o more_o strength_n so_o much_o the_o better_a be_v it_o present_a unadvisedness_n he_o be_v not_o aware_a of_o this_o attempt_n of_o satan_n so_o be_v it_o likewise_o with_o many_o other_o of_o god_n servant_n satan_n do_v secret_o lay_v siege_n unto_o their_o soul_n and_o they_o do_v not_o discern_v it_o it_o be_v a_o great_a piece_n of_o skill_n to_o know_v indeed_o when_o we_o be_v tempt_v and_o to_o be_v apprehensive_a that_o we_o be_v under_o a_o temptation_n there_o be_v a_o great_a many_o person_n which_o be_v so_o which_o yet_o do_v not_o perceive_v it_o nay_o there_o be_v many_o which_o think_v the_o quite_o contrary_a which_o be_v that_o he_o will_v have_v your_o estate_n or_o your_o liberty_n or_o your_o life_n only_o no_o but_o he_o will_v have_v your_o self_n and_o he_o will_v have_v your_o soul_n he_o will_v have_v you_o and_o the_o best_a part_n of_o you_o he_o will_v have_v you_o and_o all_o of_o you_o at_o his_o command_n you_o and_o you_o indefinite_o that_o be_v every_o one_o of_o you_o one_o as_o well_o as_o another_o and_o you_o and_o you_o extensive_o that_o be_v you_o in_o every_o part_n of_o you_o your_o whole_a soul_n and_o body_n and_o spirit_n there_o be_v nothing_o which_o god_n have_v of_o you_o but_o satan_n will_v have_v of_o you_o too_o he_o will_v corrupt_v and_o defile_v your_o whole_a man_n this_o may_v serve_v as_o a_o very_a good_a item_n and_o caution_n to_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o temptation_n of_o satan_n and_o their_o own_o yield_n to_o they_o to_o be_v well_o advise_v and_o consider_v of_o they_o the_o devil_n in_o the_o bait_n which_o he_o lay_v whereby_o to_o catch_v and_o ensnare_v poor_a soul_n he_o make_v they_o often_o to_o believe_v as_o if_o he_o be_v very_o modest_a in_o his_o request_n and_o demand_n of_o they_o only_o that_o violence_n and_o misusage_n but_o his_o house_n it_o be_v free_a from_o all_o these_o and_o so_o those_o also_o that_o be_v admit_v into_o it_o and_o be_v entertain_v in_o it_o and_o so_o much_o may_v suffice_v to_o have_v be_v speak_v of_o the_o first_o branch_n of_o this_o ultimate_a promise_n and_o that_o be_v the_o simple_a intimation_n in_o these_o word_n i_o will_v receive_v you_o to_o so_o much_o the_o great_a as_o it_o have_v their_o brethren_n involve_v with_o it_o not_o only_o we_o but_o we_o and_o then_o what_o kind_n of_o we_o be_v they_o take_v in_o second_o the_o quality_n of_o person_n such_o as_o be_v especial_o serviceable_a and_o useful_a a_o apostle_n and_o the_o minister_n of_o christ_n for_o these_o to_o be_v deliver_v from_o death_n it_o be_v to_o be_v deliver_v the_o thing_n itself_o this_o be_v that_o which_o we_o may_v here_o observe_v how_o ready_a god_n be_v to_o deliver_v his_o people_n from_o death_n and_o from_o great_a death_n that_o which_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o himself_o and_o those_o which_o be_v with_o he_o it_o be_v appliable_a to_o many_o other_o beside_o it_o be_v a_o piece_n of_o providence_n which_o the_o child_n of_o god_n do_v partake_v of_o in_o frequent_a experience_n and_o they_o be_v able_a to_o say_v it_o of_o themselves_o as_o so_o with_o they_o it_o be_v that_o which_o david_n do_v often_o as_o psal_n 57.13_o thou_o he_o have_v take_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o pain_n with_o they_o to_o convert_v they_o and_o to_o bring_v they_o to_o the_o faith_n and_o to_o acquaint_v they_o with_o the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n as_o we_o may_v see_v in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o the_o epistle_n but_o they_o partly_o through_o their_o own_o negligence_n and_o non-attendency_a partly_o through_o satan_n malice_n and_o the_o seducement_n of_o false-teacher_n among_o they_o be_v much_o apostatise_v and_o depart_v from_o the_o truth_n in_o intermingle_v the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n with_o the_o law_n and_o ceremony_n of_o moses_n from_o whence_o the_o very_a character_n of_o christ_n be_v as_o it_o be_v deface_v and_z and_o obliterated_a in_o they_o now_o st._n paul_n in_o this_o scripture_n besore_n we_o do_v here_o of_o we_o first_o the_o compellation_n which_o the_o apostle_n put_v upon_o the_o galatian_n and_o that_o be_v little_a child_n second_o the_o condition_n in_o which_o he_o stand_v in_o reference_n to_o they_o and_o that_o be_v that_o he_o travel_v in_o birth_n three_o the_o extent_n of_o this_o condition_n and_o that_o be_v till_o christ_n be_v form_v in_o they_o to_o begin_v with_o the_o first_o viz._n the_o compellation_n my_o little_a child_n now_o this_o it_o have_v a_o double_a notion_n or_o emphasis_n which_o may_v be_v fasten_v upon_o it_o first_o a_o emphasis_n of_o affection_n and_o second_o a_o emphasis_n of_o diminution_n there_o be_v love_n and_o disparagement_n both_o in_o this_o manner_n of_o expression_n first_o there_o be_v affection_n in_o it_o even_o the_o affection_n of_o a_o father_n to_o his_o child_n or_o a_o mother_n to_o the_o fruit_n of_o her_o womb_n which_o be_v also_o in_o a_o good_a minister_n towards_o his_o people_n he_o tender_v they_o even_o as_o his_o own_o bowel_n thus_o do_v paul_n these_o present_a galatian_n therefore_o as_o before_o in_o ver_fw-la 12._o he_o call_v they_o brethren_n so_o here_o now_o in_o this_o 19_o verse_n brethren_n can_v not_o speak_v unto_o you_o as_o unto_o spiritual_a but_o as_o unto_o carnal_a even_o as_o unto_o babe_n in_o christ_n so_o heb._n 5.12_o for_o every_o one_o that_o use_v milk_n be_v of_o pain_n second_o desire_v of_o delivery_n three_o fear_v of_o miscarriage_n first_o sense_n of_o pain_n there_o be_v pain_n and_o labour_n in_o travel_n so_o great_a as_o that_o other_o thing_n which_o be_v painful_a be_v set_v forth_o and_o resemble_v by_o it_o in_o scripture_n and_o a_o woman_n when_o she_o be_v in_o trave_v we_o say_v she_o be_v in_o labour_n as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o labour_n to_o speak_v of_o but_o only_o that_o now_o this_o be_v also_o considerable_a of_o we_o in_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n howsoever_o some_o may_v count_v it_o and_o other_o may_v make_v it_o yet_o in_o itself_o and_o in_o the_o conscionable_a discharge_n of_o it_o it_o be_v a_o laborious_a work_n and_o according_o we_o shall_v find_v it_o in_o scripture_n express_v in_o so_o be_v so_o different_o to_o a_o difference_n and_o variety_n of_o person_n as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o other_o kind_n of_o travel_n and_o bodily_a childbirth_n some_o have_v a_o easy_a pull_n of_o it_o than_o other_o according_o as_o it_o please_v god_n to_o be_v assistant_n to_o they_o as_o it_o be_v note_v of_o the_o hebrew-woman_n exod._n 1.19_o so_o here_o in_o this_o spiritual_a travel_n according_a to_o different_a gift_n and_o inablement_n the_o labour_n be_v different_a but_o yet_o all_o who_o be_v that_o which_o they_o shall_v be_v have_v their_o share_n in_o this_o pain_n and_o labour_n this_o as_o it_o be_v a_o good_a meditation_n to_o minister_n themselves_o to_o teach_v they_o with_o what_o thought_n to_o enter_v upon_o so_o weighty_a a_o employment_n so_o it_o be_v also_o a_o good_a item_n to_o people_n how_o to_o carry_v themselves_o towards_o they_o even_o by_o know_v they_o that_o labour_n among_o they_o and_o admonish_v they_o and_o to_o esteem_v they_o very_o high_o in_o love_n for_o their_o works-sake_n as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n make_v that_o use_n himself_o of_o it_o to_o the_o thessalonian_o 1_o thes_n 5.12_o 13._o we_o see_v what_o cause_n he_o have_v not_o god_n with_o he_o by_o way_n of_o assistance_n and_o co-operation_n as_o enable_v he_o to_o walk_v in_o such_o way_n as_o be_v please_v to_o god_n and_o as_o be_v suitable_a to_o a_o christian_a conversation_n and_o so_o as_o to_o the_o point_n which_o we_o now_o speak_v of_o to_o wit_n of_o gracious_a and_o sanctify_a qualification_n he_o have_v not_o indeed_o god_n at_o all_o second_o as_o not_o to_o the_o influence_n of_o grace_n so_o neither_o to_o the_o influence_n of_o comfort_n no_o true_a comfort_n or_o peace_n of_o conscience_n but_o from_o god_n in_o christ_n he_o be_v our_o peace_n both_o in_o the_o thing_n itself_o as_o also_o in_o the_o discovery_n a_o manifestation_n of_o it_o the_o spirit_n of_o comfort_n it_o be_v of_o his_o send_n and_o come_v from_o he_o comfort_n divide_v from_o christ_n it_o be_v not_o comfort_n but_o security_n it_o be_v not_o assurance_n but_o fancy_n it_o be_v not_o consolation_n but_o presumption_n none_o can_v persuade_v the_o heart_n of_o god_n love_n and_o favour_n to_o it_o but_o he_o alone_o that_o have_v purchase_v and_o obtain_v god_n love_n and_o favour_n for_o it_o and_o this_o be_v christ_n alone_o god_n
