mind_n it_o for_o my_o brethren_n we_o have_v live_v for_o some_o month_n under_o one_o sickness_n or_o other_o but_o now_o let_v i_o ask_v you_o the_o question_n have_v you_o do_v like_o the_o woman_n of_o cannon_n have_v you_o go_v to_o jesus_n christ_n not_o only_o for_o they_o but_o have_v you_o go_v for_o your_o soul_n to_o jesus_n christ_n mother_n have_v thy_o sick_a child_n bring_v thou_o save_o to_o jesus_n christ_n or_o husband_n let_v i_o ask_v thou_o have_v the_o sickness_n of_o thy_o wife_n do_v a_o cure_n upon_o thy_o own_o soul_n can_v any_o of_o you_o say_v bless_a be_v god_n the_o lord_n take_v away_o a_o child_n or_o husband_n but_o that_o be_v a_o strange_a cord_n that_o draw_v and_o bring_v i_o to_o himself_o oh_o blessed_a be_v that_o sickness_n upon_o you_o sickness_n and_o more_o danger_n in_o and_z upon_o your_o soul_n which_o shall_v carry_v they_o to_o christ_n than_o can_v be_v upon_o yourselves_o and_o family_n there_o be_v but_o a_o few_o who_o soul_n be_v better_a than_o their_o body_n indeed_o we_o read_v of_o one_o he_o have_v a_o holy_a soul_n but_o a_o weak_a body_n holy_a gaius_n in_o the_o three_o epistle_n of_o john_n but_o general_o our_o soul_n be_v worse_o than_o our_o body_n and_o therefore_o we_o have_v more_o reason_n to_o go_v for_o our_o soul_n the_o fever_n it_o may_v be_v be_v upon_o thy_o body_n and_o be_v it_o not_o in_o thy_o soul_n the_o devil_n possess_v thy_o child_n body_n do_v he_o not_o possess_v thy_o own_o soul_n oh_o therefore_o consider_v you_o have_v more_o reason_n to_o go_v for_o your_o soul_n to_o wait_v upon_o and_o cling_v to_o a_o seem_o reject_v redeemer_n and_o this_o be_v the_o great_a matter_n in_o the_o case_n of_o this_o poor_a woman_n oh_o woman_n great_a be_v thy_o faith_n faith_n be_v a_o precious_a thing_n now_o that_o christ_n may_v try_v our_o faith_n as_o well_o as_o our_o hunger_n therefore_o he_o deal_v a_o little_a harsh_o with_o we_o three_o the_o lord_n have_v this_o design_n too_o by_o his_o harsh_a deal_n with_o one_o he_o will_v make_v many_o wise_a when_o two_o or_o three_o of_o the_o young_a bole_n shall_v see_v the_o father_n deal_v something_o harsh_a with_o the_o elder_a it_o teach_v they_o all_o something_o the_o lord_n help_v we_o we_o be_v a_o company_n of_o mad_a untoward_a child_n we_o neglect_v many_o a_o precious_a opportunity_n christ_n call_v and_o we_o will_v not_o answer_v etc._n etc._n now_o when_o christ_n shall_v deal_v harsh_o with_o some_o than_o we_o shall_v be_v make_v wise_a to_o hearken_v when_o christ_n call_v how_o many_o have_v preach_v this_o truth_n from_o that_o experience_n child_n have_v some_o parent_n say_v take_v a_o christ_n while_o he_o smile_v take_v a_o promise_n when_o it_o be_v tender_v you_o do_v not_o know_v what_o it_o may_v cost_v you_o i_o neglect_v my_o season_n and_o i_o find_v it_o a_o hard_a matter_n for_o i_o to_o close_v with_o jesus_n christ_n you_o have_v a_o great_a word_n in_o heb._n 3.7_o 8._o wherefore_o to_o day_n if_o you_o will_v hear_v his_o voice_n harden_v not_o your_o heart_n as_o in_o the_o provocation_n in_o the_o day_n of_o temptation_n in_o the_o now_o when_o they_o shall_v see_v such_o example_n as_o this_o that_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n may_v come_v and_o call_v and_o crouch_v and_o worship_n and_o beg_v and_o yet_o be_v put_v off_o yet_o with_o all_o for_o this_o bread_n of_o life_n so_o that_o real_a universal_a self-denial_n be_v by_o the_o lord_n grace_v effect_v through_o this_o delay_n and_o seemingly-denying_a carriage_n and_o to_o this_o end_n or_o for_o this_o reason_n do_v christ_n sometime_o deal_v with_o we_o as_o with_o the_o woman_n of_o canaan_n he_o will_v seem_o deny_v we_o that_o we_o may_v real_o deny_v ourselves_o he_o will_v tame_v we_o and_o then_o put_v his_o own_o term_n upon_o we_o and_o for_o that_o end_n carry_v it_o so_o strange_o to_o we_o five_o christ_n do_v intend_v to_o heighten_v himself_o in_o our_o heart_n before_o christ_n give_v we_o himself_o he_o will_v greaten_v himself_o and_o my_o brethren_n it_o be_v our_o sore_a misery_n that_o we_o be_v too_o apt_a to_o have_v slight_a thought_n of_o jesus_n christ_n now_o christ_n will_v make_v we_o prize_v he_o very_o high_o and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v come_v by_o he_o very_o hardly_o it_o be_v a_o rule_n and_o a_o general_a observation_n that_o we_o prize_v that_o high_o which_o we_o come_v by_o very_o hardly_o oh_o sir_n the_o lord_n christ_n know_v how_o to_o heighten_v himself_o in_o your_o heart_n by_o defer_v to_o grant_v your_o request_n possible_o thou_o be_v a_o poor_a ignorant_a creature_n in_o thy_o first_o come_v unto_o christ_n one_o who_o think_v well_o but_o not_o well_o enough_o of_o christ_n thou_o value_v he_o a_o little_a but_o not_o as_o the_o chief_a now_o christ_n be_v resolve_v to_o heighten_v himself_o in_o thy_o heart_n and_o will_v therefore_o keep_v off_o so_o long_o at_o last_o and_o be_v you_o comfort_v in_o this_o confidence_n he_o will_v deal_v as_o well_o with_o you_o as_o ever_o he_o do_v with_o they_o christ_n be_v still_o the_o same_o in_o love_n and_o kindness_n oh_o that_o we_o can_v be_v the_o same_o with_o this_o woman_n of_o canaan_n in_o her_o carriage_n and_o thus_o i_o have_v do_v with_o that_o particular_a viz._n how_o the_o woman_n do_v behave_v herself_o hereafter_o we_o shall_v see_v how_o she_o speed_v and_o what_o be_v the_o happy_a conclusion_n of_o all_o i'faith_o alone_o carry_v the_o soul_n through_o all_o discouragement_n refresh_n to_o her_o soul_n by_o this_o speech_n my_o beloved_n no_o doubt_n no_o doubt_n but_o this_o poor_a woman_n be_v now_o marvellous_o refresh_v and_o as_o much_o as_o her_o soul_n can_v want_v or_o wish_v she_o have_v from_o the_o lord_n in_o these_o word_n as_o we_o shall_v see_v afterward_o then_o jesus_n answer_v and_o say_v unto_o she_o o_o woman_n great_a be_v thy_o faith_n be_v it_o unto_o thou_o even_o as_o thou_o will_v these_o word_n have_v the_o last_o particular_a which_o i_o note_v in_o this_o story_n namely_o the_o issue_n or_o the_o conclusion_n that_o christ_n make_v with_o this_o woman_n the_o beginning_n be_v very_o sad_a a_o poor_a woman_n at_o the_o foot_n of_o christ_n beg_v much_o but_o seem_v not_o to_o be_v hear_v but_o behold_v the_o issue_n be_v very_o christ_n do_v observe_v that_o in_o we_o which_o we_o do_v not_o many_o time_n observe_v in_o ourselves_o in_o the_o last_o day_n when_o the_o lord_n shall_v judge_v both_o the_o righteous_a and_o the_o wicked_a he_o will_v rell_v the_o righteous_a they_o do_v this_o and_o that_o thing_n which_o they_o do_v not_o know_v as_o that_o speech_n intimate_v when_o see_v we_o thou_o naked_a and_o clothe_v thou_o matth._n 25._o the_o lord_n can_v see_v a_o few_o name_n in_o sardis_n and_o a_o little_a strength_n even_o there_o where_o the_o heart_n can_v scarce_o find_v any_o thing_n therefore_o mind_n it_o by_o the_o way_n and_o do_v you_o o_o poor_a of_o the_o flock_n that_o fear_v your_o own_o faith_n i_o say_v do_v you_o hear_v and_o rejoice_v jesus_n christ_n can_v see_v distinguish_v between_o the_o real_a be_v and_o the_o extrinsical_a or_o explicit_a appearance_n of_o faith_n thing_n may_v be_v real_o and_o essential_o which_o be_v not_o visible_o and_o explicit_o and_o the_o scripture_n take_v notice_n of_o some_o thing_n that_o be_v real_o though_o not_o explicit_o as_o now_o in_o job_n job_n 1.5_o peradventure_o my_o son_n have_v sin_v and_o curse_a god_n in_o their_o heart_n that_o be_v implicit_o they_o may_v do_v it_o so_o the_o lord_n take_v notice_n of_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v in_o we_o i._n e._n real_a and_o true_a though_o it_o do_v not_o appear_v in_o the_o formality_n thereof_o that_o poor_a woman_n in_o luk._n 7.50_o have_v faith_n though_o there_o be_v no_o formal_a profession_n of_o it_o christ_n have_v a_o discern_a eye_n he_o can_v see_v what_o be_v in_o we_o even_o as_o in_o the_o root_n before_o the_o bud_n or_o fruit_n appear_v he_o can_v and_o do_v know_v what_o be_v in_o we_o radical_o though_o we_o do_v not_o so_o visible_o and_o express_o make_v it_o out_o now_o such_o be_v this_o woman_n case_n though_o here_o be_v no_o explicit_a confession_n or_o profession_n of_o faith_n yet_o she_o do_v that_o which_o be_v faith_n implicit_a and_o in_o this_o woman_n there_o be_v real_a faith_n which_o do_v act_v she_o in_o this_o address_n to_o christ_n as_o you_o will_v see_v if_o you_o consider_v it_o for_o what_o be_v faith_n faith_n be_v the_o come_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o jesus_n christ_n she_o come_v faith_n be_v the_o cast_n of_o the_o soul_n upon_o christ_n she_o cast_v herself_o upon_o christ_n faith_n be_v a_o rest_v on_o christ_n without_o a_o word_n of_o evidence_n or_o assurance_n the_o woman_n do_v so_o you_o may_v by_o this_o satisfy_v yourselves_o then_o in_o the_o first_o question_n this_o woman_n do_v believe_v though_o she_o do_v not_o in_o so_o many_o word_n express_v it_o she_o show_v it_o though_o
so_o then_o o_o soul_n take_v this_o word_n to_o thyself_o and_o if_o thou_o have_v deal_v unkind_o with_o christ_n and_o notwithstanding_o great_a woo_n great_a mean_n abundance_n of_o favour_n bestow_v upon_o you_o yet_o thou_o will_v not_o repent_v oh_o yet_o afterward_o repent_v and_o do_v it_o and_o this_o be_v to_o draw_v out_o holiness_n at_o well_o as_o comfort_v out_o of_o the_o story_n of_o the_o woman_n of_o canaan_n and_o true_o that_o be_v my_o desire_n that_o we_o shall_v thus_o improve_v this_o example_n not_o only_o to_o faith_n and_o comfort_n but_o also_o to_o holiness_n and_o obedience_n and_o that_o in_o this_o particular_a of_o be_v likeminded_a unto_o christ_n not_o only_o to_o other_o but_o especial_o to_o christ_n himself_o to_o deal_v well_o with_o he_o now_o at_o last_o for_o as_o much_o as_o we_o have_v deal_v ill_o with_o he_o many_o a_o day_n come_n to_o christ_n prevail_v for_o corporal_n as_o well_o as_o spiritual_n the_o nine_o sermon_n matthew_z 15._o the_o last_o clause_n of_o vers_fw-la 28._o and_o her_o daughter_n be_v make_v whole_a from_o that_o very_a hour_n we_o be_v come_v to_o the_o last_o part_n of_o the_o story_n of_o the_o woman_n of_o canaan_n the_o principal_a matter_n we_o have_v already_o dispatch_v and_o i_o shall_v at_o this_o time_n brief_o give_v you_o a_o account_n of_o these_o word_n and_o so_o end_v and_o that_o be_v this_o doct._n that_o the_o prayer_n and_o the_o faith_n of_o believe_a parent_n be_v very_o prevalent_a with_o the_o lord_n jesus_n on_o the_o behalf_n of_o child_n my_o belove_a little_a do_v we_o know_v what_o our_o prayer_n may_v procure_v at_o the_o hand_n of_o christ_n for_o we_o thou_o have_v oftentimes_o lay_v thy_o precept_n upon_o thy_o child_n and_o that_o will_v do_v he_o no_o good_a thou_o have_v oftentimes_o in_o a_o sense_n make_v thy_o prayer_n to_o thy_o child_n and_o that_o will_v do_v he_o no_o good_a little_a do_v thou_o know_v what_o the_o prayer_n that_o thou_o do_v put_v up_o to_o god_n may_v yet_o effect_v very_o my_o belove_a it_o be_v our_o folly_n and_o sin_n that_o we_o be_v not_o more_o in_o prayer_n for_o our_o posterity_n than_o we_o be_v many_o a_o soul-mercy_n and_o body-mercy_n may_v be_v procure_v at_o the_o hand_n of_o christ_n upon_o the_o parent_n prayer_n for_o the_o poor_a child_n it_o be_v famous_o record_v of_o austin_n that_o he_o be_v the_o son_n of_o prayer_n and_o tear_n oftentimes_o i_o say_v for_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n do_v the_o parent_n prayer_n prevail_v for_o the_o child_n to_o come_v to_o the_o word_n in_o particular_a there_o be_v no_o difficulty_n in_o the_o letter_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v not_o stand_v upon_o the_o exposition_n there_o be_v only_o three_o note_n we_o shall_v take_v up_o the_o two_o first_o more_o particular_a the_o last_o more_o general_a and_o therefore_o that_o i_o shall_v spend_v the_o time_n in_o first_o of_o all_o in_o particular_a here_o be_v two_o note_n that_o do_v relate_v to_o the_o personal_a honour_n and_o glory_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o upon_o that_o account_n i_o shall_v mention_v they_o in_o two_o observation_n doct._n 1._o that_o jesus_n christ_n have_v power_n over_o all_o disease_n over_o all_o distemper_n her_o daughter_n be_v sick_a yea_o vex_v with_o a_o devil_n she_o pray_v to_o christ_n and_o her_o daughter_n be_v make_v whole_a you_o know_v what_o he_o say_v in_o the_o gospel_n mat_n 8.8_o lord_n if_o thou_o will_v but_o speak_v the_o word_n my_o servant_n shall_v be_v whole_a etc._n etc._n any_o christ_n do_v cure_v immediate_o as_o he_o do_v in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o he_o can_v so_o cure_v be_v make_v no_o question_n but_o whether_o he_o do_v be_v a_o question_n yet_o this_o i_o will_v say_v that_o sometime_o i_o make_v no_o doubt_n but_o the_o lord_n jesus_n do_v immediate_o heal_v disease_n and_o it_o be_v no_o stretch_v the_o truth_n to_o tell_v you_o that_o more_o than_o one_o or_o two_o or_o score_n of_o instance_n may_v be_v give_v of_o person_n that_o have_v be_v give_v over_o for_o lose_v by_o man_n by_o no_o mean_n use_v nothing_o do_v to_o recover_v many_o who_o have_v be_v yet_o immediate_o cure_v by_o jesus_n christ_n however_o it_o be_v a_o certain_a truth_n that_o all_o disease_n can_v be_v cure_v by_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o second_o note_n be_v this_o and_o i_o pray_v mind_n it_o doct._n 2._o jesus_n christ_n be_v not_o tie_v to_o any_o time_n to_o do_v his_o work_n the_o same_o hour_n her_o daughter_n be_v make_v god_n can_v do_v a_o great_a work_n in_o a_o day_n that_o be_v a_o bless_a word_n in_o rev._n
the_o save_n of_o the_o sick_a now_o a_o little_a to_o clear_v up_o this_o you_o must_v know_v first_o that_o this_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v of_o corporal_a sickness_n and_o therefore_o the_o very_a two_o term_n that_o be_v here_o use_v for_o save_v and_o sick_a be_v usual_o apply_v to_o corporal_a disease_n i_o but_o it_o be_v say_v this_o be_v by_o virtue_n of_o the_o anoint_v of_o the_o elder_n to_o this_o i_o answer_v this_o expression_n have_v be_v abuse_v but_o however_o that_o this_o salvation_n do_v not_o depend_v upon_o the_o anoint_v will_v appear_v if_o you_o observe_v the_o 1._o that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n may_v show_v that_o he_o have_v power_n in_o this_o particular_a my_o belove_a jesus_n christ_n will_v sometime_o speak_v and_o do_v such_o a_o word_n and_o such_o a_o work_n for_o this_o reason_n that_o it_o may_v be_v know_v what_o he_o can_v do_v in_o that_o case_n in_o matth._n 9_o and_o the_o beginning_n why_o do_v he_o say_v to_o the_o sick_a of_o the_o passie_n be_v of_o good_a cheer_n thy_o sin_n be_v forgive_v thou_o but_o that_o they_o may_v know_v the_o son_n of_o man_n have_v power_n on_o the_o the_o earth_n to_o forgive_v sin_n believer_n it_o be_v a_o case_n of_o conscience_n which_o be_v not_o oftentimes_o touch_v upon_o three_o thing_n i_o shall_v tell_v you_o to_o regulate_v you_o and_o then_o in_o any_o case_n you_o may_v go_v christ_n for_o second_o you_o must_v look_v that_o your_o spirit_n be_v not_o inordinate_o set_v upon_o the_o thing_n when_o ever_o thou_o find_v thy_o heart_n inordinate_o set_v upon_o any_o thing_n and_o say_v lord_n i_o will_v have_v such_o a_o corpotal_a mercy_n but_o however_o lord_n soul-mercy_n when_o you_o can_v desire_v a_o sick_a child_n may_v be_v make_v well_o but_o especial_o a_o shall_v not_o be_v ashamed_a of_o our_o faith_n and_o that_o we_o shall_v have_v the_o particular_a corporal_a mercy_n grant_v to_o we_o but_o to_o end_v this_o be_v that_o i_o will_v press_v upon_o the_o whole_a as_o ever_o you_o will_v have_v mercy_n for_o body_n and_o soul_n go_v to_o jesus_n christ_n but_o now_o there_o be_v some_o general_a word_n that_o i_o will_v draw_v from_o the_o whole_a story_n we_o have_v now_o dispatch_v this_o whole_a discourse_n of_o the_o woman_n of_o canaan_n what_o be_v there_o that_o be_v upon_o my_o spirit_n to_o beg_v of_o the_o lord_n for_o you_o and_o for_o my_o own_o soul_n but_o this_o that_o this_o story_n may_v be_v always_o a_o good_a story_n to_o we_o first_o of_o all_o therefore_o i_o say_v look_v about_o you_o that_o the_o story_n of_o the_o woman_n of_o canaan_n may_v not_o be_v a_o sad_a story_n to_o any_o be_v there_o any_o such_o as_o may_v have_v cause_n to_o fear_v that_o you_o will_v say_v yes_o man_n or_o woman_n
