shall_v appoint_v if_o god_n do_v change_v the_o seven_o day_n to_o the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n still_o by_o virtue_n of_o the_o four_o commandment_n we_o be_v bind_v to_o sanctify_v and_o celebrate_v the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n for_o the_o sabbath_n so_o now_o in_o this_o case_n though_o the_o first_o commandment_n do_v not_o express_o require_v our_o faith_n in_o christ_n of_o the_o commandment_n of_o the_o gospel_n not_o only_o a_o transgression_n of_o the_o first_o table_n of_o the_o law_n but_o it_o be_v a_o transgression_n of_o the_o great_a commandment_n of_o general_o into_o the_o temple_n to_o hear_v the_o law_n read_v unto_o they_o and_o therefore_o that_o last_o day_n be_v call_v the_o great_a day_n of_o the_o feast_n for_o the_o people_n on_o the_o morrow_n be_v to_o depart_v into_o all_o part_n of_o the_o country_n as_o they_o come_v from_o all_o part_n so_o here_o on_o the_o last_o day_n on_o the_o great_a day_n of_o the_o feast_n christ_n preach_v unto_o they_o on_o this_o subject_n 2._o second_o it_o be_v set_v forth_o by_o the_o manner_n of_o it_o in_o what_o manner_n christ_n do_v preach_v this_o sermon_n to_o they_o there_o be_v a_o double_a circumstance_n in_o the_o preach_n of_o this_o sermon_n it_o be_v say_v christ_n stand_v but_o ordinary_o christ_n be_v say_v to_o sit_v down_o as_o he_o sit_v down_o in_o the_o ship_n but_o here_o it_o be_v say_v he_o stand_v that_o he_o may_v be_v better_o hear_v and_o see_v of_o the_o multitude_n and_o another_o thing_n about_o the_o manner_n of_o it_o be_v he_o stand_v and_o cry_v with_o a_o mighty_a voice_n he_o do_v extend_v his_o voice_n so_o as_o all_o may_v hear_v there_o be_v a_o great_a concourse_n of_o people_n and_o likewise_o intimate_v that_o he_o be_v not_o afraid_a of_o the_o people_n he_o go_v up_o into_o the_o temple_n and_o there_o he_o cry_v it_o intimate_v also_o that_o the_o matter_n be_v a_o weighty_a matter_n which_o he_o have_v then_o to_o speak_v unto_o they_o as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v now_o take_v this_o word_n with_o you_o it_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o great_a concernment_n and_o that_o be_v the_o three_o thing_n here_o in_o the_o text._n 3._o three_o the_o matter_n of_o his_o sermon_n when_o he_o stand_v and_o cry_v so_o what_o do_v he_o speak_v or_o say_v why_o this_o it_o be_v if_o any_o man_n thirst_n let_v he_o come_v unto_o i_o and_o drink_v this_o be_v the_o sum_n of_o his_o sermon_n that_o he_o stand_v up_o and_o cry_v or_o preach_v unto_o the_o people_n wherein_o we_o have_v these_o two_o particular_n 1._o a_o gracious_a invitation_n to_o all_o that_o be_v athirst_a and_o 2._o a_o gracious_a promise_n that_o if_o they_o do_v come_v they_o shall_v drink_v the_o rabbi_n among_o the_o jew_n record_v of_o this_o feast_n that_o in_o this_o last_o day_n they_o be_v wont_a to_o go_v and_o pour_v abundance_n of_o water_n and_o wine_n in_o a_o way_n of_o rejoice_v upon_o the_o altar_n and_o therefore_o christ_n in_o allusion_n to_o that_o speak_v to_o they_o say_v if_o any_o man_n be_v athirst_a let_v he_o come_v unto_o i_o and_o drink_v brief_o to_o take_v up_o what_o i_o conceive_v to_o be_v christ_n meaning_n in_o this_o place_n there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o the_o gospel_n here_o in_o these_o word_n in_o this_o general_a proclamation_n if_o any_o man_n be_v athirst_a let_v he_o come_v to_o i_o and_o drink_n then_o know_v doctrine_n that_o such_o as_o be_v athirst_a do_v come_v unto_o christ_n they_o shall_v certain_o be_v supply_v unto_o the_o full_a and_o that_o most_o free_o whoever_o be_v athirst_a do_v come_v to_o christ_n he_o shall_v have_v a_o supply_n he_o shall_v have_v a_o full_a supply_n he_o shall_v not_o only_o taste_v or_o sip_v but_o drink_v a_o full_a draught_n his_o belly_n full_a so_o fill_v that_o as_o the_o word_n say_v out_o of_o his_o belly_n shall_v flow_v river_n of_o live_a water_n and_o not_o only_o so_o but_o he_o shall_v have_v a_o full_a supply_n most_o free_o drink_v most_o free_o he_o do_v not_o desire_v money_n or_o price_n but_o according_a to_o that_o proclamation_n which_o you_o have_v to_o this_o purpose_n isa_n 55.1_o ho_o every_o one_o that_o thirst_v come_v you_o to_o the_o water_n and_o he_o that_o have_v no_o money_n come_v you_o buy_v and_o eat_v yea_o come_v buy_v wine_n and_o milk_n without_o money_n and_o without_o price_n come_v and_o you_o shall_v drink_v free_o and_o that_o for_o nothing_o without_o money_n and_o without_o price_n and_o so_o revel_v 22.17_o and_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o bride_n say_v come_v let_v he_o that_o hear_v say_v come_v and_o let_v he_o that_o be_v a_o thirst_n come_v and_o whosoever_o will_v let_v he_o take_v of_o the_o water_n of_o life_n free_o and_o the_o spirit_n and_o the_o bride_n say_v come_v this_o be_v hold_v forth_o free_o to_o drink_v free_o and_o it_o shall_v cost_v nothing_o as_o now_o a_o man_n that_o shall_v hold_v forth_o proclamation_n to_o all_o that_o will_v come_v to_o he_o and_o drink_v what_o they_o will_v they_o may_v come_v and_o shall_v drink_v free_o without_o charge_n to_o they_o so_o here_o our_o saviour_n christ_n clear_o hold_v forth_o grace_n and_o salvation_n free_o whosoever_o come_v they_o shall_v have_v it_o free_o brief_o to_o open_v the_o point_n and_o show_v 1._o what_o manner_n of_o thirst_n it_o be_v that_o christ_n speak_v off_o what_o thirst_n be_v it_o 2._o what_o be_v that_o same_o come_n or_o how_o may_v a_o man_n that_o be_v athirst_a how_o may_v such_o a_o one_o come_v you_o will_v say_v suppose_v it_o be_v a_o thirst_n after_o the_o water_n of_o life_n how_o may_v i_o come_v or_o in_o what_o way_n may_v i_o come_v to_o christ_n and_o then_o 3._o show_v you_o that_o those_o who_o be_v thirsty_a do_v come_v to_o christ_n they_o shall_v certain_o be_v supply_v to_o the_o full_a they_o shall_v have_v drink_v give_v they_o free_o most_o free_o i_o shall_v desire_v to_o have_v respect_n to_o the_o season_n and_o apply_v myself_o according_o to_o show_v you_o what_o
leave_v spread_v till_o it_o have_v spread_v all_o over_o and_o the_o grain_n of_o mustard_n seed_n it_o grow_v and_o spring_v up_o further_o and_o further_o till_o it_o become_v a_o tree_n for_o the_o fowl_n in_o the_o air_n to_o lodge_v in_o so_o our_o inward_a man_n be_v renew_v day_n by_o day_n as_o it_o will_v spring_v up_o increase_n and_o grow_v more_o and_o more_o though_o yet_o he_o that_o have_v drink_v of_o the_o spirit_n have_v not_o the_o full_a perfection_n of_o it_o at_o once_o but_o may_v desire_v more_o yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o have_v so_o much_o as_o he_o shall_v never_o be_v dry_a again_o that_o be_v whole_o destitute_a but_o shall_v grow_v up_o and_o increase_v and_o spring_n and_o let_v i_o add_v only_o a_o three_o thing_n answer_v 3_o you_o will_v say_v the_o saint_n have_v not_o a_o full_a draught_n and_o full_a supply_n because_o they_o complain_v i_o answer_v that_o though_o here_o they_o be_v in_o a_o state_n of_o imperfection_n and_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o a_o daily_a supply_n be_v sensible_a of_o their_o own_o defect_n and_o weakness_n yet_o every_o believe_a soul_n have_v drink_v so_o much_o of_o the_o water_n of_o life_n as_o now_o he_o have_v right_a and_o title_n unto_o the_o inheritance_n of_o glory_n where_o there_o be_v such_o fullness_n of_o joy_n as_o he_o shall_v be_v satisfy_v and_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o desire_v any_o more_o psal_n 16.11_o thou_o will_v show_v i_o the_o path_n of_o life_n in_o thy_o presence_n be_v fullness_n of_o joy_n and_o at_o thy_o right_a hand_n be_v pleasure_n for_o evermore_o they_o shall_v have_v joy_n as_o much_o as_o they_o can_v hold_v every_o vessel_n shall_v be_v fill_v with_o glory_n so_o full_a as_o it_o can_v hold_v no_o more_o they_o shall_v enjoy_v as_o much_o as_o ever_o they_o be_v able_a to_o hold_v or_o contain_v every_o vessel_n shall_v be_v full_a of_o glory_n the_o beginning_n of_o eternal_a life_n be_v here_o and_o though_o possible_o they_o may_v be_v make_v to_o drink_v tear_n here_o in_o abundance_n yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o have_v the_o beginning_n of_o eternal_a life_n and_o glory_n and_o when_o they_o come_v once_o to_o enjoy_v the_o consummation_n of_o it_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o desire_v one_o draught_n one_o jot_n more_o so_o he_o that_o believe_v on_o i_o out_o of_o his_o belly_n shall_v flow_v river_n of_o live_a water_n spring_v up_o unto_o eternal_a life_n so_o much_o for_o that_o objection_n now_o for_o the_o application_n of_o the_o point_n use_v 1_o you_o see_v what_o christ_n say_v in_o the_o text_n that_o man_n that_o come_v unto_o i_o shall_v drink_v my_o drift_n in_o this_o application_n shall_v be_v to_o press_v this_o invitation_n of_o jesus_n christ_n be_v it_o know_v unto_o you_o man_n and_o woman_n young_a man_n and_o old_a and_o child_n that_o be_v capable_a of_o knowledge_n know_v it_o that_o jesus_n christ_n do_v invite_v every_o one_o of_o you_o that_o stand_v before_o he_o in_o this_o ordinance_n to_o come_v unto_o he_o and_o draw_v water_n out_o of_o this_o well_o of_o salvation_n it_o be_v a_o strong_a invitation_n that_o whosoever_o come_v to_o he_o shall_v drink_v of_o this_o water_n of_o life_n let_v i_o say_v unto_o you_o as_o moses_n say_v unto_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n deut._n 32.46_o and_o he_o say_v unto_o they_o set_v your_o heart_n unto_o all_o the_o word_n that_o i_o testify_v among_o you_o this_o day_n set_v your_o heart_n to_o this_o invitation_n of_o jesus_n christ_n to_o the_o word_n that_o be_v now_o sound_v in_o your_o ear_n for_o it_o be_v your_o life_n jesus_n christ_n do_v bring_v eternal_a life_n to_o your_o door_n to_o your_o heart_n do_v not_o look_v upon_o they_o as_o if_o they_o be_v word_n of_o course_n and_o wind_n as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o truth_n or_o reality_n in_o they_o brethren_n i_o suppose_v now_o if_o a_o friend_n shall_v invite_v you_o to_o a_o dinner_n or_o a_o supper_n you_o will_v believe_v that_o he_o be_v real_a and_o you_o be_v ready_a to_o accept_v of_o his_o invitation_n because_o you_o think_v he_o mean_v as_o he_o say_v why_o so_o now_o be_v it_o know_v unto_o you_o that_o jesus_n christ_n do_v make_v a_o invitation_n to_o all_o here_o every_o one_o in_o the_o congregation_n this_o day_n to_o come_v unto_o he_o and_o you_o shall_v have_v a_o supply_n of_o this_o water_n of_o life_n suppose_v now_o that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v here_o present_a speak_v these_o word_n as_o he_o do_v with_o his_o own_o mouth_n in_o the_o hear_n of_o thousand_o and_o suppose_v now_o that_o if_o jesus_n christ_n be_v here_o in_o his_o bodily_a presence_n do_v you_o not_o think_v you_o shall_v believe_v and_o give_v entertainment_n to_o what_o he_o speak_v behold_v jesus_n christ_n now_o speak_v in_o his_o word_n to_o all_o that_o be_v here_o present_a as_o he_o speak_v to_o all_o that_o be_v present_a then_o and_o make_v proclamation_n say_v be_v any_o man_n athirst_a be_v there_o any_o that_o do_v desire_v this_o water_n of_o life_n that_o do_v desire_n to_o have_v their_o sin_n pardon_v and_o forgive_v they_o that_o do_v desire_n to_o be_v free_v from_o condemnation_n that_o do_v desire_n to_o be_v adopt_v son_n and_o daughter_n of_o god_n to_o have_v peace_n with_o god_n to_o have_v comfort_n and_o consolation_n in_o life_n and_o death_n and_o to_o have_v everlasting_a eternal_a glory_n when_o life_n shall_v be_v no_o more_o know_v jesus_n christ_n hold_v forth_o all_o this_o whatsoever_o be_v requisite_a to_o eternal_a life_n jesus_n christ_n do_v invite_v you_o to_o this_o and_o hold_v forth_o and_o promise_v to_o give_v a_o full_a draught_n of_o it_o to_o all_o that_o ever_o will_v come_v to_o he_o therefore_o let_v no_o poor_a soul_n lay_v impediment_n and_o block_n in_o its_o own_o way_n to_o hinder_v he_o from_o come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n objection_n but_o may_v one_o say_v i_o be_o afraid_a that_o i_o shall_v presume_v if_o i_o shall_v come_v unto_o christ_n and_o therefore_o i_o dare_v not_o venture_v answer_n o_o let_v not_o any_o soul_n think_v so_o nor_o say_v so_o to_o hinder_v any_o of_o your_o soul_n from_o come_v know_v it_o that_o if_o jesus_n christ_n have_v make_v no_o invitation_n to_o you_o to_o come_v than_o you_o may_v very_o well_o say_v it_o be_v presumption_n indeed_o for_o i_o to_o come_v but_o jesus_n christ_n invite_v thou_o himself_z in_o his_o word_n and_o promise_n that_o if_o you_o do_v come_v you_o shall_v have_v of_o this_o water_n of_o life_n and_o that_o free_o suppose_v a_o great_a rich_a man_n shall_v invite_v a_o poor_a man_n to_o his_o table_n and_o he_o come_v be_v invite_v will_v you_o say_v this_o be_v presumption_n when_o he_o speak_v to_o he_o himself_o and_o if_o he_o shall_v not_o come_v it_o be_v rather_o a_o slight_n and_o despise_v his_o favour_n and_o love_n why_o jesus_n christ_n hold_v forth_o a_o free_a invitation_n tender_v it_o and_o promise_v it_o to_o any_o one_o soul_n that_o will_v come_v unto_o he_o upon_o his_o invitation_n and_o therefore_o let_v nothing_o stave_v thou_o off_o see_v he_o have_v make_v a_o full_a and_o free_a invitation_n unto_o every_o one_o to_o come_v indeed_o objection_n but_o alas_o i_o do_v not_o know_v that_o i_o be_o invite_v christ_n invite_v i_o what_o i_o i_o be_o altogether_o unworthy_a to_o be_v invite_v to_o partake_v of_o this_o water_n of_o life_n alas_o so_o poor_a a_o creature_n so_o ignorant_a and_o so_o blind_a and_o so_o without_o strength_n as_o i_o be_o unable_a to_o perform_v any_o duty_n no_o strength_n and_o nothing_o at_o all_o to_o commend_v i_o unto_o the_o lord_n or_o why_o the_o lord_n shall_v give_v i_o the_o least_o drop_n of_o the_o water_n of_o life_n and_o therefore_o certain_o it_o be_v not_o to_o i_o jesus_n christ_n do_v not_o invite_v i_o answer_n i_o say_v let_v not_o this_o impediment_n lie_v in_o thy_o way_n because_o we_o have_v no_o strength_n or_o ability_n to_o do_v or_o to_o please_v or_o to_o serve_v he_o in_o any_o way_n why_o alas_o do_v you_o think_v now_o that_o jesus_n christ_n call_v for_o any_o price_n invite_v people_n and_o then_o they_o must_v bring_v money_n in_o their_o hand_n no_o brethren_n you_o be_v much_o mistake_v jesus_n christ_n do_v invite_v to_o come_v without_o money_n or_o without_o any_o price_n whoever_o you_o be_v though_o you_o be_v never_o so_o weak_a and_o unable_a to_o perform_v any_o duty_n or_o service_n and_o never_o do_v any_o thing_n for_o the_o lord_n yet_o you_o shall_v come_v and_o brethren_n the_o more_o unfit_a we_o be_v in_o ourselves_o and_o the_o less_o we_o have_v of_o ourselves_o and_o the_o more_o sensible_a we_o be_v of_o our_o own_o
