be_v which_o will_v not_o have_v the_o law_n nor_o the_o threaten_n thereof_o preach_v unto_o they_o and_o these_o be_v they_o which_o feel_v themselves_o move_v with_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n but_o we_o can_v be_v move_v lively_a with_o the_o promise_n of_o christ_n except_o we_o first_o by_o the_o law_n and_o the_o threaten_n of_o john_n see_v the_o full_a measure_n of_o punishment_n that_o our_o sin_n have_v deserve_v therefore_o it_o be_v very_o requisite_a we_o first_o have_v the_o law_n preach_v unto_o we_o that_o we_o may_v have_v a_o lively_a feel_n of_o our_o sin_n as_o those_o which_o will_v not_o have_v the_o law_n preach_v be_v say_v to_o be_v of_o two_o sort_n so_o those_o that_o feel_v their_o sin_n be_v also_o of_o two_o sort_n for_o either_o they_o see_v sin_n in_o general_a or_o else_o they_o be_v humble_v more_o special_o those_o which_o feel_v their_o sin_n and_o have_v a_o taste_n thereof_o and_o see_v they_o in_o general_a and_o not_o special_o these_o must_v be_v cut_v on_o both_o side_n they_o must_v see_v sin_n on_o both_o side_n they_o must_v enter_v into_o the_o secret_n of_o the_o heart_n for_o they_o have_v not_o yet_o learned_a to_o discern_v of_o thought_n they_o must_v even_o have_v their_o very_a heart_n &_o thought_n lay_v open_a unto_o they_o in_o the_o three_o to_o the_o hebr._n we_o be_v bid_v not_o to_o harden_v our_o heart_n at_o the_o word_n of_o god_n not_o to_o harden_v our_o heart_n that_o be_v not_o only_o to_o hear_v the_o law_n preach_v unto_o our_o ear_n &_o to_o go_v no_o further_o for_o so_o it_o never_o profit_v we_o nay_o it_o be_v the_o power_n of_o death_n unto_o death_n unto_o we_o but_o we_o must_v suffer_v it_o to_o soak_v into_o we_o to_o have_v his_o proper_a work_n to_o pierce_v &_o to_o enter_v even_o to_o the_o very_a secret_a cogitation_n of_o our_o heart_n that_o not_o only_o
bring_v home_o his_o child_n into_o the_o sheepfold_a of_o jesus_n christ._n true_a faith_n make_v we_o only_a heir_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n faith_n can_v be_v attain_v without_o hear_v of_o god_n us._n word_n preach_v the_o word_n of_o itself_o can_v be_v preach_v without_o a_o preacher_n therefore_o preacher_n be_v the_o only_a mean_n appoint_v of_o god_n to_o work_v faith_n in_o his_o child_n by_o the_o preach_n of_o god_n word_n and_o the_o secret_a work_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n whereby_o they_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o the_o promise_n whosoever_o therefore_o be_v not_o content_a with_o this_o ordinance_n of_o god_n but_o will_v have_v some_o further_a revelation_n from_o heaven_n shall_v never_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o benefit_n of_o jesus_n christ._n he_o himself_o declare_v in_o the_o parable_n of_o the_o rich_a glutron_n that_o 31._o whosoever_o will_v not_o believe_v the_o messenger_n of_o god_n which_o be_v the_o preacher_n of_o the_o word_n they_o with_o such_o power_n that_o whatsoever_o they_o bind_v on_o the_o earth_n shall_v be_v bind_v in_o heaven_n and_o whatsoever_o they_o lose_v upon_o earth_n shall_v be_v loose_v in_o heaven_n so_o sin_n and_o all_o infirmity_n at_o who_o hand_n we_o may_v daily_o be_v teach_v and_o with_o who_o we_o may_v talk_v familiar_o and_o at_o their_o hand_n through_o the_o word_n of_o god_n we_o may_v have_v as_o good_a assurance_n hereof_o as_o if_o the_o lord_n shall_v speak_v himself_o from_o heaven_n if_o god_n shall_v speak_v we_o be_v not_o able_a to_o abide_v the_o hear_n of_o his_o voice_n but_o be_v even_o swallow_v up_o of_o fear_n how_o be_v the_o child_n of_o israel_n terrify_v with_o the_o voice_n of_o the_o lord_n when_o he_o speak_v unto_o they_o they_o flee_v away_o and_o from_o the_o same_o shall_v be_v as_o sure_a of_o everlasting_a damnation_n as_o if_o he_o be_v already_o in_o hell_n again_o to_o the_o penitent_a who_o conscience_n be_v burden_v with_o grief_n for_o their_o sin_n he_o may_v pronounce_v the_o sweet_a promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n how_o jesus_n christ_n have_v die_v for_o they_o 23._o and_o have_v discharge_v they_o before_o the_o judgement_n â—â—ocke_n for_o as_o the_o lord_n minister_n when_o he_o establish_v a_o kingdom_n will_v choose_v a_o king_n so_o will_v he_o also_o give_v he_o first_o a_o king_n heart_n before_o he_o set_v he_o in_o his_o seat_n so_o when_o he_o prepare_v a_o spiritual_a father_n to_o beget_v soul_n unto_o himself_o he_o give_v he_o gift_n and_o power_n to_o do_v the_o same_o as_o saint_n paul_n testify_v write_v to_o the_o ephesian_n but_o unto_o every_o one_o of_o we_o be_v give_v grace_n according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o the_o gift_n of_o christ_n wherefore_o he_o say_v when_o he_o ascend_v up_o on_o high_a he_o lead_v captivity_n captive_a 8._o and_o give_v gift_n unto_o man_n so_o that_o first_o the_o lord_n give_v gift_n and_o second_o man_n this_o must_v be_v the_o duty_n of_o the_o the_o lord_n and_o also_o to_o win_v other_o to_o christ_n and_o so_o increase_v the_o mystical_a body_n of_o christ_n so_o much_o as_o his_o diligence_n by_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v able_a 1._o first_o therefore_o it_o be_v requisite_a in_o the_o minister_n office_n that_o he_o study_v the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o he_o do_v diligent_o read_v the_o same_o and_o also_o give_v himself_o
be_v ready_a to_o be_v secure_a therefore_o even_o then_o we_o have_v most_o need_n to_o pray_v with_o my_o whole_a heart_n he_o show_v that_o he_o be_v not_o a_o hypocrite_n and_o then_o shall_v we_o know_v that_o we_o be_v not_o when_o our_o heart_n be_v set_v before_o god_n and_o we_o pour_v they_o out_o before_o he_o as_o much_o as_o we_o have_v utter_v in_o word_n before_o man_n this_o make_v the_o child_n of_o god_n to_o sigh_v when_o they_o pray_v because_o they_o have_v to_o do_v with_o god_n and_o this_o make_v the_o hypocrite_n that_o they_o can_v see_v themselves_o because_o they_o know_v not_o that_o they_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n and_o when_o the_o child_n of_o god_n can_v come_v to_o show_v their_o heart_n to_o god_n then_o if_o they_o sigh_v and_o groan_n for_o want_v of_o a_o heart_n this_o be_v a_o testimony_n that_o we_o pray_v in_o the_o spirit_n rom._n 8._o but_o when_o man_n pray_v as_o though_o they_o pray_v not_o and_o hear_v as_o though_o they_o hear_v not_o nothing_o do_v the_o lord_n hate_v more_o than_o this_o have_v mercy_n this_o be_v the_o chief_a of_o his_o prayer_n and_o the_o first_o that_o god_n will_v give_v he_o mercy_n not_o to_o crown_v his_o work_n wrought_v contrary_a to_o the_o papist_n which_o plead_v merit_n for_o though_o the_o lord_n do_v give_v new_a grace_n yet_o not_o of_o merit_n for_o that_o we_o have_v be_v defile_v by_o we_o but_o because_o he_o have_v a_o love_n to_o crown_v his_o own_o gift_n he_o do_v not_o pray_v for_o mercy_n of_o fashion_n but_o even_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n because_o the_o true_a feel_n of_o his_o need_n do_v drive_v he_o to_o make_v this_o prayer_n for_o as_o when_o we_o in_o the_o feel_n of_o our_o heart_n can_v long_o after_o mercy_n this_o may_v be_v a_o pledge_n that_o we_o shall_v find_v mercy_n so_o they_o that_o have_v no_o feel_n of_o their_o infirmity_n can_v long_v for_o mercy_n and_o therefore_o have_v no_o assurance_n that_o they_o shall_v have_v mercy_n for_o it_o be_v the_o feel_n of_o our_o misery_n that_o make_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n sweet_a unto_o us._n he_o pray_v not_o for_o what_o he_o lust_v but_o for_o that_o the_o lord_n promise_v for_o saint_n james_n say_v you_o pray_v and_o have_v not_o etc._n etc._n and_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n that_o we_o have_v not_o the_o thing_n we_o pray_v for_o because_o we_o pray_v not_o according_a to_o the_o word_n his_o word_n must_v be_v the_o rule_n of_o our_o prayer_n and_o then_o shall_v we_o receive_v as_o solomon_n pray_v and_o obtain_v he_o have_v promise_v forgiveness_n of_o sin_n the_o knowledge_n of_o his_o word_n etc._n etc._n these_o if_o we_o have_v let_v not_o our_o heart_n be_v set_v on_o the_o other_o he_o pray_v for_o the_o promise_n and_o make_v not_o a_o stipulation_n by_o the_o law_n for_o it_o be_v the_o promise_n that_o give_v grace_n then_o shall_v we_o here_o have_v comfort_n if_o we_o can_v believe_v because_o we_o have_v the_o covenant_n of_o any_o thing_n of_o god_n we_o must_v do_v it_o according_a to_o his_o promise_n for_o when_o we_o pray_v not_o according_a to_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o lord_n we_o wait_v upon_o our_o own_o
