in_o thy_o mouth_n but_o he_o speak_v one_o while_o to_o the_o people_n and_o then_o again_o direct_v his_o speech_n to_o his_o servant_n jeremiah_n he_o say_v then_o you_o can_v deny_v but_o you_o have_v speak_v thus_o that_o be_v you_o have_v thus_o scorn_v i_o with_o your_o disdainful_a speech_n as_o if_o my_o prophet_n who_o i_o send_v have_v buze_v but_o a_o empty_a sound_n of_o word_n in_o nor_o of_o the_o fruit_n which_o the_o faithful_a reap_v from_o it_o for_o god_n simple_o denounce_v that_o the_o prophet_n doctrine_n shall_v be_v the_o ruin_n of_o the_o people_n and_o therefore_o he_o express_o say_v i_o will_v put_v my_o word_n in_o thy_o mouth_n as_o a_o fire_n have_v he_o only_o say_v behold_v my_o word_n shall_v be_v as_o the_o fire_n and_o this_o people_n as_o the_o stubble_n this_o have_v not_o be_v clear_a enough_o but_o in_o regard_n the_o jew_n have_v now_o accustom_v themselves_o to_o disdainful_a scoffing_n and_o i_o pray_v you_o what_o be_v these_o prophet_n and_o what_o be_v their_o big_a and_o high_a word_n word_n that_o only_o beat_v the_o air_n because_o the_o jew_n i_o say_v accustom_a themselves_o to_o these_o contemptuous_a speech_n therefore_o the_o lord_n on_o the_o contrary_a answer_n behold_v i_o will_v put_v my_o word_n in_o thy_o mouth_n that_o be_v to_o say_v thy_o tongue_n shall_v be_v more_o than_o sufficient_a to_o god_n bear_v with_o his_o servant_n in_o this_o behalf_n why_o so_o because_o it_o be_v not_o his_o purpose_n either_o to_o contemn_v his_o call_n call_v reasins_z why_o jeremiah_n excuse_v his_o not_o be_v willing_a to_o follow_v god_n call_v or_o to_o free_v himself_o from_o his_o obedience_n nor_o to_o cast_v off_o the_o yoke_n that_o he_o may_v take_v his_o ease_n or_o that_o he_o may_v win_v credit_n or_o enjoy_v the_o present_a commodity_n of_o this_o life_n jeremiah_n regard_v none_o of_o these_o thing_n but_o look_v into_o himself_o he_o conclude_v he_o be_v utter_o unable_a to_o undergo_v so_o burdensome_a and_o cumbersome_a a_o charge_n this_o excuse_n than_o be_v add_v only_o by_o way_n of_o a_o modest_a excuse_n and_o thence_o it_o be_v that_o god_n pardon_v this_o fear_n of_o he_o because_o as_o we_o have_v say_v heretofore_o it_o proceed_v from_o a_o sincere_a affection_n we_o also_o know_v that_o often_o out_o of_o good_a principle_n there_o sprout_n forth_o some_o vice_n but_o this_o notwithstanding_o be_v praiseworthy_a in_o jeremiah_n namely_o that_o he_o think_v himself_o unmeet_a to_o discharge_v the_o office_n of_o a_o prophet_n and_o therefore_o desire_v to_o be_v spare_v that_o choice_n may_v be_v make_v of_o some_o other_o who_o bid_v better_a ability_n and_o large_a gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o discharge_v it_o withal_o to_o morrow_n i_o will_v finish_v the_o rest_n the_o prayer_n almighty_a god_n and_o heavenly_a father_n see_v thou_o have_v not_o only_o provide_v for_o the_o ancient_a church_n of_o the_o jew_n in_o time_n past_a when_o thou_o make_v choice_n of_o thy_o servant_n jeremiah_n to_o exercise_v his_o prophetical_a office_n therein_o but_o have_v also_o be_v please_v that_o the_o fruit_n of_o his_o holy_a labour_n purchase_v for_o we_o by_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o same_o thy_o son_n our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n amen_n the_o second_o lecture_n upon_o the_o first_o chapter_n we_o show_v you_o yesterday_o the_o cause_n why_o jeremiah_n at_o the_o first_o refuse_v the_o office_n of_o a_o teacher_n to_o wit_n in_o regard_n he_o find_v himself_o insufficient_a for_o so_o high_a a_o call_n for_o which_o cause_n he_o term_v himself_o a_o child_n not_o in_o year_n but_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o ignorance_n in_o matter_n thereunto_o appertain_v this_o word_n child_n then_o be_v take_v here_o by_o way_n of_o similitude_n for_o the_o prophet_n confess_v he_o be_v neither_o expert_a enough_o nor_o acquaint_v with_o such_o a_o charge_n for_o as_o i_o have_v say_v some_o too_o fond_o restrain_v this_o to_o his_o age_n albeit_o then_o her_o be_v already_o of_o sufficient_a year_n for_o such_o a_o business_n yet_o because_o he_o be_v neither_o qualify_v with_o knowledge_n nor_o other_o gift_n necessary_a for_o so_o excellent_a a_o function_n he_o therefore_o say_v i_o be_o a_o child_n now_o follow_v the_o answer_n say_v not_o i_o be_o a_o child_n for_o thou_o shall_v go_v etc._n etc._n here_o the_o lord_n not_o only_o foretell_v what_o the_o prophet_n shall_v do_v but_o tell_v he_o his_o errand_n and_o what_o be_v require_v of_o he_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v thou_o must_v obey_v my_o but_o when_o god_n call_v we_o what_o though_o we_o be_v utter_o destitute_a of_o gift_n we_o must_v for_o all_o that_o yield_v our_o obedience_n which_o doctrine_n be_v plain_o gather_v from_o a_o degenerate_a people_n and_o to_o say_v the_o truth_n all_o of_o they_o in_o a_o manner_n have_v swerve_v and_o decline_v from_o god_n law_n so_o as_o now_o have_v a_o long_a time_n reject_v that_o yoke_n they_o begin_v to_o insult_v with_o such_o fury_n and_o rebellion_n that_o they_o can_v very_o hardly_o be_v bring_v back_o to_o true_a obedience_n and_o moderation_n it_o appear_v then_o that_o the_o prophet_n be_v thus_o withhold_v by_o reason_n of_o these_o difficulty_n and_o therefore_o dare_v not_o undertake_v his_o prophetical_a office_n for_o no_o doubt_n god_n here_o apply_v unto_o he_o a_o fit_a remedy_n against_o his_o faintheartedness_n now_o what_o say_v he_o fear_v not_o their_o face_n for_o when_o jeremiah_n say_v he_o be_v a_o child_n he_o look_v as_o i_o note_v erewhile_o to_o this_o difficulty_n namely_o that_o he_o be_v no_o way_n able_a to_o sustain_v those_o sharp_a conflict_n which_o present_v themselves_o before_o he_o if_o he_o once_o begin_v to_o out_o and_o discharge_v himself_o of_o this_o burden_n impose_v upon_o he_o in_o regard_n
in_o regard_n they_o always_o pretend_v as_o if_o they_o seek_v the_o lord_n thus_o they_o think_v then_o you_o shall_v say_v indeed_o behold_v we_o come_v unto_o thou_o thou_o be_v our_o god_n as_o if_o he_o condemn_v their_o hypocrisy_n because_o they_o always_o make_v fair_a show_n in_o seek_v god_n but_o i_o think_v they_o be_v far_o wide_a from_o the_o prophet_n meaning_n i_o make_v no_o all_o such_o as_o perish_v yet_o be_v it_o the_o savour_n of_o life_n unto_o life_n to_o the_o elect_a of_o god_n 2._o cor._n 2.15.16_o i_o grant_v it_o will_v often_o fall_v out_o that_o the_o great_a part_n will_v convert_v the_o doctrine_n of_o life_n and_o salvation_n to_o their_o own_o ruin_n and_o perdition_n but_o god_n notwithstanding_o will_v never_o suffer_v all_o to_o perish_v
