he_o be_v beat_v be_v not_o this_o i_o pray_v you_o a_o goodly_a righteousness_n and_o obedience_n of_o the_o scholar_n that_o he_o obey_v his_o master_n so_o severe_o threaten_v and_o so_o sharp_o correct_v he_o and_o kiss_v the_o rod_n but_o do_v he_o this_o with_o a_o good_a will_n as_o soon_o as_o his_o master_n have_v turn_v his_o back_n he_o break_v the_o rod_n or_o cast_v it_o into_o the_o fire_n and_o if_o he_o have_v any_o power_n over_o his_o master_n he_o will_v not_o suffer_v himself_o to_o be_v beat_v of_o his_o master_n but_o rather_o he_o will_v beat_v he_o and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o the_o schoolmaster_n be_v very_o necessary_a for_o the_o child_n to_o enstruct_v and_o to_o chastise_v he_o otherwise_o the_o child_n without_o this_o discipline_n instruction_n and_o good_a education_n shall_v be_v utter_o lose_v the_o schoolmaster_n therefore_o be_v appoint_v for_o the_o child_n to_o teach_v he_o to_o bring_v he_o up_o child_n &_o to_o keep_v he_o as_o it_o be_v in_o prison_n but_o to_o what_o end_n or_o how_o long_o be_v it_o to_o the_o end_n that_o this_o strait_a and_o sharp_a deal_n of_o the_o schoolmaster_n shall_v always_o continue_v or_o that_o the_o child_n shall_v remain_v in_o continual_a bondage_n not_o so_o but_o only_o for_o a_o time_n that_o this_o obedience_n this_o prison_n and_o correction_n may_v turn_v to_o the_o profit_n of_o the_o child_n that_o in_o time_n he_o may_v be_v heir_n and_o prince_n for_o it_o be_v not_o the_o father_n will_n that_o his_o son_n shall_v be_v always_o subject_a to_o the_o schoolmaster_n and_o always_o beat_v with_o rod_n but_o that_o by_o this_o instruction_n and_o discipline_n he_o may_v be_v make_v able_a and_o meet_a to_o be_v his_o father_n successor_n even_o so_o the_o law_n say_v paul_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o schoolmaster_n not_o for_o ever_o but_o until_o it_o have_v bring_v we_o to_o christ_n â—3_o as_o in_o other_o word_n he_o say_v also_o before_o the_o law_n be_v give_v for_o transgression_n until_o the_o bless_a seed_n shall_v come_v also_o the_o scripture_n have_v shut_v all_o under_o sin_n etc_n etc_n again_o we_o be_v keep_v under_o &_o shut_v up_o unto_o faith_n which_o shall_v after_o be_v reveal_v wherefore_o the_o law_n be_v not_o only_o a_o schoolmaster_n but_o it_o be_v a_o schoolmaster_n to_o bring_v we_o unto_o christ_n for_o what_o a_o schoolmaster_n be_v he_o which_o will_v always_o torment_v &_o beat_v the_o child_n past_a &_o teach_v he_o nothing_o at_o all_o and_o yet_o such_o schoolmaster_n there_o be_v in_o time_n past_a when_o scholes_z be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o prison_n and_o a_o very_a hell_n the_o schoolmaster_n cruel_a tyrant_n and_o very_a butcher_n the_o child_n be_v always_o beat_v they_o learn_v with_o continual_a pain_n and_o travel_n &_o yet_o few_o of_o they_o come_v to_o any_o proof_n the_o law_n be_v not_o such_o a_o schoolmaster_n for_o it_o do_v not_o only_o terrify_v &_o torment_n as_o the_o foolish_a schoolmaster_n beat_v his_o scholar_n &_o teach_v they_o nothing_o but_o with_o his_o rod_n he_o drive_v we_o unto_o christ_n like_v as_o a_o good_a schoolmaster_n enstruct_v &_o exercise_v his_o scholar_n in_o read_v and_o write_v to_o the_o end_n they_o may_v come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o good_a letter_n &_o other_o profitable_a thing_n that_o afterwards_o they_o may_v have_v a_o delight_n in_o do_v of_o that_o which_o before_o when_o they_o be_v constrain_v thereunto_o they_o do_v against_o their_o will_n by_o this_o goodly_a similitude_n paul_n show_v what_o be_v the_o true_a use_n of_o the_o law_n namely_o that_o it_o justify_v not_o hypocrite_n for_o they_o remain_v without_o christ_n in_o their_o presumption_n &_o security_n and_o contrariwise_o that_o it_o leave_v not_o in_o death_n &_o damnation_n those_o that_o be_v of_o a_o contrite_a heart_n so_o that_o they_o use_v it_o as_o paul_n teach_v but_o drive_v they_o unto_o christ_n but_o they_o which_o in_o these_o terror_n continue_v still_o in_o their_o weakness_n &_o do_v not_o apprehend_v christ_n by_o faith_n do_v fall_n at_o length_n into_o desperation_n paul_n therefore_o in_o this_o allegory_n of_o the_o schoolmaster_n schoolmaster_n most_o lively_o express_v the_o true_a use_n of_o the_o law_n for_o like_a as_o the_o schoolmaster_n reprove_v his_o scholar_n he_o grieve_v they_o &_o make_v they_o heavy_a &_o yet_o not_o to_o the_o end_n that_o this_o bondage_n shall_v always_o continue_v but_o that_o it_o shall_v cease_v when_o the_o child_n be_v well_o bring_v up_o and_o instruct_v according_o &_o that_o afterward_o without_o any_o constraint_n of_o the_o schoolmaster_n they_o shall_v cheerful_o enjoy_v their_o liberty_n &_o their_o father_n good_n even_o so_o they_o
