but_o if_o we_o forsake_v the_o lord_n he_o will_v forsake_v we_o if_o we_o depart_v from_o god_n god_n will_v depart_v from_o we_o god_n come_v first_o to_o we_o but_o we_o go_v first_o from_o he_o god_n do_v not_o leave_v any_o but_o those_o that_o leave_v he_o first_o he_o come_v to_o we_o before_o we_o come_v to_o he_o but_o if_o we_o depart_v from_o he_o he_o will_v depart_v from_o we_o and_o if_o god_n go_v the_o devil_n come_v the_o lord_n reject_v saul_n and_o a_o evil_a spirit_n come_v present_o upon_o he_o therefore_o who_o will_v not_o take_v heed_n of_o depart_v from_o god_n but_o second_o as_o we_o be_v to_o take_v heed_n of_o depart_v from_o god_n so_o we_o be_v to_o take_v heed_n of_o unbelief_n and_o of_o a_o unbelieve_a heart_n whereby_o we_o depart_v from_o god_n for_o the_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n and_o a_o unbelieving_a heart_n be_v very_o cunning_a and_o make_v a_o deceitful_a heart_n therefore_o say_v the_o apostle_n in_o the_o word_n follow_v lest_o you_o you_o can_v see_v the_o root_n of_o the_o tree_n unbelief_n be_v a_o root_n sin_n and_o that_o be_v least_o perceive_v now_o when_o one_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o a_o deceitful_a enemy_n that_o be_v least_o perceive_v have_v be_v not_o need_n take_v heed_n take_v heed_n of_o depart_v from_o god_n through_o a_o evil_a heart_n of_o unbelief_n quest_n the_o question_n than_o be_v what_o shall_v we_o do_v these_o be_v decline_v and_o depart_v time_n wherein_o many_o do_v and_o will_v depart_v from_o god_n make_v account_n on_o it_o what_o shall_v we_o do_v that_o we_o may_v not_o depart_v from_o matter_n of_o our_o grief_n three_o as_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o joy_n the_o apostle_n say_v and_o let_v they_o that_o rejoice_v be_v as_o though_o they_o rejoice_v not_o it_o be_v lawful_a to_o rejoice_v even_o in_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n rejoice_v in_o the_o wife_n of_o thy_o youth_n god_n have_v provide_v several_a delightful_a object_n for_o every_o sense_n there_o be_v music_n for_o hear_v and_o there_o be_v smell_n and_o sweet_a smell_n for_o smell_v sweet_a thing_n for_o the_o taste_n god_n have_v so_o order_v thing_n that_o every_o sense_n have_v its_o delightful_a object_n sure_o therefore_o it_o be_v lawful_a to_o take_v pleasure_n and_o to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n but_o still_o though_o we_o do_v rejoice_v in_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n we_o must_v rejoice_v as_o if_o we_o rejoice_v not_o for_o why_o shall_v i_o joy_v much_o in_o that_o which_o i_o can_v enjoy_v why_o now_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n i_o may_v use_v but_o i_o can_v enjoy_v they_o god_n only_o be_v to_o be_v enjoy_v who_o will_v rejoice_v with_o all_o his_o might_n in_o the_o blaze_n of_o a_o wisp_n a_o wisp_n of_o straw_n the_o world_n but_o have_v some_o crevice_n in_o it_o what_o beauty_n but_o have_v some_o wart_n grow_v upon_o the_o face_n on_o it_o our_o saviour_n christ_n be_v at_o a_o wedding_n and_o when_o he_o be_v there_o the_o wine_n be_v spend_v why_o for_o to_o show_v that_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o our_o fullness_n and_o joy_n there_o be_v a_o deficiency_n and_o there_o be_v a_o want_n bottle_n will_v be_v empty_a and_o if_o it_o be_v the_o great_a work_n of_o a_o christian_a for_o to_o moderate_v his_o affection_n than_o shall_v we_o not_o grieve_v as_o if_o we_o grieve_v not_o and_o rejoice_v as_o if_o we_o rejoice_v not_o the_o great_a work_n of_o a_o christian_a what_o be_v it_o why_o the_o great_a work_n of_o a_o christian_a be_v not_o for_o to_o know_v much_o the_o great_a work_n of_o a_o christian_a be_v not_o to_o have_v much_o he_o be_v a_o christian_a indeed_o that_o grieve_v as_o if_o he_o grieve_v not_o and_o rejoice_v as_o if_o he_o rejoice_v not_o that_o we_o be_v to_o use_v the_o world_n as_o if_o we_o use_v it_o not_o in_o reference_n to_o this_o concernment_n the_o matter_n of_o our_o joy_n four_o as_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o possession_n the_o apostle_n say_v and_o let_v they_o that_o buy_v be_v as_o though_o they_o possess_v not_o it_o be_v lawful_a and_o very_o lawful_a to_o buy_v and_o sell_v and_o to_o possess_v for_o else_o there_o will_v be_v no_o propriety_n but_o there_o be_v a_o propriety_n in_o nature_n the_o last_o commandment_n thou_o shall_v not_o covet_v thy_o neighbour_n ox_n nor_o his_o ass_n nor_o any_o good_a man_n have_v other_o great_a thing_n and_o possession_n for_o to_o mind_n and_o they_o can_v intensive_o mind_v both_o why_o then_o a_o man_n must_v sure_o so_o possess_v as_o if_o he_o possess_v not_o why_o now_o a_o good_a man_n have_v high_a and_o great_a possession_n to_o mind_n and_o inheritance_n incorruptible_a undefiled_a that_o fade_v not_o away_o reserve_v in_o the_o heaven_n and_o both_o he_o can_v mind_v together_o but_o he_o must_v love_v the_o one_o and_o hate_v the_o other_o the_o intention_n about_o the_o one_o must_v be_v remissness_n about_o the_o other_o then_o sure_o it_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o use_v the_o world_n as_o if_o we_o use_v it_o not_o in_o reference_n unto_o this_o concernment_n namely_o this_o concernment_n of_o our_o possession_n and_o so_o you_o see_v the_o thing_n now_o clear_v by_o these_o four_o instance_n we_o be_v to_o use_v the_o world_n as_o if_o we_o use_v it_o not_o in_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o relation_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o grief_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o joy_n and_o in_o the_o matter_n of_o our_o possession_n well_o but_o then_o fourthly_a in_o the_o four_o place_n what_o be_v there_o in_o these_o reason_n of_o the_o apostle_n the_o shortness_n of_o the_o time_n and_o the_o fashion_n of_o the_o world_n pass_v away_o what_o be_v there_o in_o these_o reason_n that_o may_v enforce_v this_o exhortation_n to_o use_v the_o world_n as_o if_o we_o use_v it_o not_o much_o every_o way_n still_o i_o must_v but_o touch_v at_o thing_n the_o time_n be_v short_a use_v the_o world_n as_o if_o we_o
