1.21_o whereby_o he_o have_v some_o general_a knowledge_n of_o good_a and_o evil_n especial_o if_o we_o speak_v of_o natural_a good_a and_o evil_a not_o moral_a and_o some_o general_a will_n and_o inclination_n to_o good_a as_o whereby_o general_o he_o desire_v happiness_n and_o have_v no_o will_n to_o that_o which_o will_v hinder_v his_o happiness_n and_o thing_n which_o be_v natural_a to_o he_o man_n this_o may_v be_v and_o be_v in_o mere_a natural_a man_n and_o so_o a_o kind_n of_o conscience_n natural_o of_o good_a and_o evil_a ground_v upon_o those_o general_a principle_n though_o in_o draw_v particular_a conclusion_n thence_o and_o in_o application_n he_o fail_v exceed_o this_o be_v call_v the_o law_n of_o nature_n in_o he_o by_o which_o natural_a man_n and_o general_o all_o man_n without_o save_v grace_n be_v guide_v and_o lead_v hence_o there_o be_v in_o natural_a man_n that_o which_o paul_n call_v the_o truth_n and_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n write_v in_o their_o heart_n 2.15_o rom._n 1.18_o &_o 2.15_o their_o conscience_n also_o bear_v witness_n and_o their_o thought_n the_o mean_a while_n accuse_v or_o else_o excuse_v one_o another_o now_o these_o man_n conscience_n receive_v also_o information_n from_o without_o as_o not_o only_o from_o experience_n &_o the_o knowledge_n of_o art_n &_o science_n as_o of_o morality_n but_o also_o by_o good_a instruction_n and_o from_o divine_a and_o supernatural_a principle_n and_o knowledge_n reveal_v in_o and_o by_o god_n word_n which_o even_o nature_n itself_o in_o unregenerate_a man_n will_n in_o the_o general_n acknowledge_v shall_v be_v obey_v &_o entertain_v which_o therefore_o so_o far_o we_o may_v call_v natural_a but_o all_o these_o be_v wonderful_o corrupt_v when_o application_n be_v to_o be_v make_v where_o corruption_n of_o nature_n through_o self-respect_n of_o sinful_a &_o inordinat_a affection_n &_o desire_n of_o pleasure_n profit_n honour_n intermingle_v itself_o and_o put_v good_a nature_n which_o awhile_o may_v resist_v stand_v out_o &_o show_v itself_o to_o silence_n &_o as_o for_o supernatural_a knowledge_n &_o motion_n general_o approve_v of_o they_o be_v in_o particular_a case_n by_o corruption_n oppose_v &_o reject_v though_o not_o always_o without_o some_o strife_n there_o be_v then_o a_o strife_n often_o in_o unregenerate_a man_n whereby_o they_o be_v both_o long_a a_o yield_v to_o their_o corrupt_a affection_n &_o have_v yield_v find_v some_o touch_n of_o their_o natural_a conscience_n and_o remorse_n in_o themselves_o for_o their_o yield_v with_o a_o horror_n oftentimes_o but_o we_o can_v make_v this_o a_o effect_n of_o god_n sanctify_a spirit_n in_o they_o see_v the_o resistance_n be_v not_o make_v against_o these_o sinful_a affection_n as_o they_o be_v sinful_a that_o be_v repugnant_a &_o ccontrary_a to_o god_n will_v &_o to_o
now_o and_o then_o foil_v and_o beat_v down_o by_o it_o he_o will_v soon_o lose_v his_o life_n then_o ever_o yield_v himself_o a_o slave_n to_o satan_n or_o to_o his_o sin_n his_o resolution_n and_o purpose_n shall_v be_v firm_a against_o it_o and_o his_o endeavour_n will_v be_v answerable_a whereas_o the_o cowardly_a christian_a have_v at_o best_a but_o half_a wish_n faint_a resolution_n weak_a purpose_n against_o his_o sin_n and_o according_o his_o endeavour_n be_v either_o none_o or_o such_o as_o whereof_o he_o soon_o weary_v when_o he_o come_v to_o any_o hard_a encounter_n as_o to_o pull_v out_o of_o a_o right_a eye_n or_o cut_v off_o a_o right_a hand_n of_o offence_n where_o the_o flesh_n will_v both_o plead_v hard_a and_o long_o for_o itself_o 51._o par._n 3._o §._o 51._o &_o
