fever_n in_o the_o blood_n the_o sciatica_n in_o the_o thigh_n the_o fistula_n or_o hemorrhoid_n in_o the_o nether_a part_n or_o any_o one_o of_o these_o take_v away_o the_o relish_n of_o our_o pleasure_n and_o imbitter_v all_o the_o voluptuous_a person_n enjoyment_n turn_v his_o sing_v into_o sigh_v his_o music_n into_o mourn_v and_o his_o riot_n into_o rage_n and_o who_o will_v mourn_v the_o loss_n of_o thing_n so_o subject_a to_o a_o thousand_o accident_n which_o have_v so_o little_a real_a good_a in_o the_o enjoyment_n the_o soul_n expostulation_n and_o now_o o_o my_o soul_n consider_v with_o thyself_o how_o vain_a and_o how_o pernicious_a the_o pleasure_n of_o the_o world_n be_v for_o though_o mankind_n do_v general_o give_v up_o themselves_o to_o the_o pursuit_n thereof_o yet_o how_o full_a of_o pain_n do_v they_o find_v these_o pleasure_n consider_v o_o my_o soul_n that_o sensual_a pleasure_n be_v the_o pleasure_n of_o beast_n which_o relish_v they_o with_o more_o delight_n than_o man_n and_o use_v they_o according_a to_o the_o dictate_v of_o nature_n and_o for_o the_o satisfy_v of_o their_o want_n and_o that_o with_o more_o moderation_n for_o they_o only_o drink_v for_o the_o quench_n of_o their_o thirst_n and_o eat_v for_o the_o satisfy_n of_o their_o hunger_n whilst_o man_n endow_v with_o reason_n and_o bear_v to_o a_o high_a end_n even_o to_o glorify_v and_o enjoy_v their_o maker_n do_v immerse_v themselves_o in_o the_o filthy_a puddle_n of_o drunkenness_n and_o gluttony_n and_o other_o base_a carnal_a delight_n and_o thereby_o degenerate_a below_o the_o beast_n that_o perish_v raise_v up_o thy_o affection_n therefore_o o_o my_o soul_n and_o place_v they_o upon_o thing_n above_o there_o be_v pleasure_n and_o delight_n that_o be_v worthy_a of_o thou_o even_o such_o as_o be_v adequate_a to_o thy_o want_n and_o capable_a of_o satisfy_v the_o desire_n of_o a_o immortal_a soul_n and_o though_o thy_o outward_a circumstance_n and_o late_a loss_n have_v render_v thou_o uncapable_a of_o pursue_v the_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n thou_o be_v thereby_o the_o more_o fit_v to_o aspire_v to_o those_o pleasure_n that_o the_o world_n can_v take_v from_o thou_o and_o which_o alone_o be_v worth_a the_o enjoy_v if_o thou_o hearkene_a to_o the_o enchant_v siren_n of_o worldly_a pleasure_n they_o do_v but_o entice_v thou_o with_o their_o pleasant_a song_n as_o they_o will_v have_v dove_n ulysses_n till_o they_o bring_v thou_o to_o cast_v thyself_o into_o the_o sea_n of_o destruction_n and_o overwhelmed_a thou_o with_o complain_v of_o and_o if_o by_o the_o light_n of_o affliction_n thou_o have_v see_v the_o greatness_n of_o thy_o sin_n and_o that_o sight_n of_o sin_n have_v humble_v thou_o and_o bring_v thou_o to_o repentance_n thou_o be_v hereby_o become_v a_o great_a gainer_n than_o all_o the_o outward_a prosperity_n in_o the_o world_n can_v make_v thou_o for_o there_o be_v no_o comparison_n between_o temporal_a loss_n and_o spiritual_a gain_n for_o all_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v see_v be_v but_o temporal_a but_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o see_v be_v eternal_a how_o bless_v a_o thing_n be_v it_o o_o my_o soul_n to_o be_v afflict_v see_v these_o light_a affliction_n that_o be_v but_o for_o a_o moment_n work_v out_o for_o thou_o a_o far_o more_o exceed_v and_o eternal_a weight_n of_o glory_n t_o he_o o_o my_o soul_n be_v enough_o not_o only_o to_o make_v they_o rejoice_v but_o even_o glory_n in_o tribulation_n since_o they_o have_v so_o bless_v a_o effect_n see_v then_o o_o my_o soul_n that_o thy_o tribulation_n work_v patience_n and_o patience_z experience_n and_o experience_n hope_n even_o that_o hope_n which_o make_v not_o ashamed_a and_o so_o shall_v thou_o have_v rejoice_v in_o thyself_o and_o not_o in_o another_o a_o prayer_n o_o almighty_a and_o merciful_a lord_n god_n who_o make_v all_o thing_n for_o thy_o own_o glory_n and_o can_v overrule_a all_o event_n so_o as_o to_o bring_v glory_n to_o thy_o name_n and_o good_a to_o thy_o people_n out_o of_o the_o dark_a of_o thy_o dispensation_n towards_o they_o grant_v i_o beseech_v thou_o that_o these_o affliction_n with_o which_o thou_o have_v be_v please_v to_o exercise_n i_o may_v by_o thy_o gracious_a ordination_n bring_v forth_o the_o peaceable_a fruit_n of_o righteousness_n unto_o i_o that_o i_o may_v be_v enable_v to_o say_v it_o be_v good_a for_o i_o that_o i_o have_v be_v afflict_a and_o suffer_v i_o not_o o_o lord_n neither_o to_o despise_v thy_o chasten_n by_o go_v on_o in_o those_o sin_v and_o have_v commit_v iniquity_n and_o have_v rebel_v by_o depart_v from_o thy_o precept_n and_o thy_o judgement_n neither_o have_v we_o hearken_v to_o thy_o servant_n the_o minister_n which_o speak_v in_o thy_o name_n to_o our_o king_n our_o prince_n and_o our_o father_n and_o to_o all_o the_o people_n of_o the_o land_n and_o therefore_o o_o lord_n righteousness_n belong_v unto_o thou_o but_o unto_o we_o confusion_n of_o face_n as_o at_o this_o day_n to_o our_o king_n our_o prince_n and_o our_o judge_n because_o we_o have_v sin_v against_o thou_o and_o have_v add_v this_o evil_a unto_o all_o the_o rest_n that_o yet_o we_o have_v not_o make_v our_o prayer_n before_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n that_o we_o may_v turn_v from_o our_o iniquity_n and_o understand_v thy_o truth_n o_o lord_n our_o god_n we_o pray_v thou_o hear_v incline_v thy_o ear_n and_o open_v thy_o eye_n and_o behold_v our_o low_a estate_n for_o we_o do_v not_o present_v these_o our_o supplication_n before_o thou_o for_o our_o righteousness_n sake_n but_o for_o thy_o great_a mercy_n through_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n and_o only_a saviour_n our_o father_n etc._n etc._n meditation_n v._n of_o the_o benefit_n and_o advantage_n of_o affliction_n we_o have_v in_o the_o former_a meditation_n inquire_v into_o the_o nature_n of_o affliction_n they_o be_v evil_n in_o themselves_o not_o joyous_a but_o grievous_a and_o into_o the_o cause_n of_o they_o which_o general_o be_v sin_n and_o what_o some_o of_o those_o sin_n be_v we_o have_v also_o examine_v and_o find_v ourselves_o to_o be_v concern_v in_o they_o which_o call_v for_o our_o hearty_a sorrow_n and_o repentance_n but_o as_o a_o wife_n physician_n will_v so_o temper_v poison_n as_o not_o only_o to_o allay_v its_o venom_n but_o turn_v it_o into_o a_o antidote_n so_o do_v the_o great_a physician_n of_o our_o soul_n do_v with_o affliction_n make_v they_o work_v together_o for_o our_o good_a and_o bring_v forth_o for_o we_o the_o peaceable_a fruit_n of_o righteousness_n and_o here_o i_o will_v a_o little_a meditate_v upon_o the_o reason_n why_o it_o please_v god_n to_o afflict_v his_o child_n and_o what_o the_o benefit_n be_v that_o we_o reap_v thereby_o 1._o because_o we_o may_v show_v our_o conformity_n to_o our_o bless_a redeemer_n who_o first_o suffer_v and_o then_o enter_v into_o his_o glory_n in_o like_a manner_n we_o be_v tell_v that_o if_o we_o suffer_v with_o he_o we_o shall_v also_o reign_v with_o he_o and_o the_o great_a trial_n we_o endure_v here_o the_o bright_a will_v our_o crown_n of_o glory_n shine_v hereafter_o the_o author_n to_o the_o hebrew_n have_v give_v a_o large_a account_n of_o the_o suffering_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n in_o former_a age_n and_o of_o their_o not_o accept_v deliverance_n give_v this_o as_o the_o reason_n that_o they_o expect_v a_o better_a resurrection_n agreeable_a to_o which_o our_o lord_n tell_v we_o that_o those_o that_o be_v persecute_v here_o for_o righteousness_n sake_n
