reason_n of_o such_o ill_a stuff_n the_o use_n of_o all_o which_o sappy_a and_o redwood_n &_o other_o insufficient_a stuff_n we_o do_v hereby_o for_o we_o our_o heir_n and_o successor_n straight_o prohibit_v and_o restrain_v to_o be_v use_v or_o employ_v in_o any_o sort_n in_o or_o upon_o any_o ship_n or_o other_o vessel_n and_o our_o will_n and_o pleasure_n be_v and_o we_o do_v by_o these_o warden_n to_o be_v always_o two_o to_o impose_v and_o inflict_v such_o punishment_n upon_o every_o offendor_n in_o that_o behalf_n either_o by_o fine_a or_o imprisonment_n or_o both_o of_o they_o as_o by_o the_o law_n and_o statute_n of_o this_o realm_n or_o by_o any_o law_n or_o ordinance_n to_o be_v make_v by_o the_o say_a corporation_n as_o be_v aforesaid_a shall_v or_o may_v be_v impose_v or_o inflict_v upon_o they_o for_o their_o offence_n in_o that_o behalf_n or_o otherwise_o that_o the_o say_a master_n and_o warden_n or_o any_o two_o of_o they_o or_o such_o other_o person_n or_o person_n so_o authorize_v as_o aforesaid_a and_o which_o upon_o the_o search_n shall_v find_v any_o of_o the_o deceit_n and_o abuse_n aforesaid_a shall_v complain_v thereof_o to_o some_o justice_n or_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n within_o the_o place_n or_o county_n where_o such_o deceit_n and_o abuse_n shall_v be_v find_v and_o we_o do_v by_o these_o present_n for_o we_o our_o heir_n and_o successor_n straight_o charge_v and_o command_v all_o and_o every_o our_o justice_n and_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n whatsoever_o to_o who_o any_o such_o complaint_n or_o complaint_n shall_v so_o be_v make_v as_o be_v aforesaid_a that_o they_o and_o every_o of_o they_o shall_v by_o all_o good_a and_o lawful_a way_n and_o mean_n examine_v and_o find_v out_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o say_a complaint_n abuse_n and_o deceit_n and_o if_o upon_o due_a examination_n thereof_o they_o shall_v find_v that_o any_o such_o abuse_n and_o deceit_n have_v be_v commit_v as_o aforesaid_a that_o then_o they_o cause_v the_o party_n or_o party_n so_o offend_v to_o be_v indict_v or_o otherwise_o punish_v for_o such_o he_o and_o their_o abuse_n and_o deceit_n either_o before_o our_o justice_n of_o peace_n in_o the_o county_n where_o the_o same_o abuse_n and_o deceit_n shall_v be_v commit_v and_o find_v at_o their_o session_n of_o the_o peace_n or_o before_o the_o justice_n of_o assize_n of_o the_o same_o county_n or_o before_o any_o other_o lawful_a judge_n or_o judge_n to_o the_o end_n that_o the_o say_a person_n or_o person_n so_o offend_v may_v receive_v such_o condign_a punishment_n as_o by_o the_o law_n and_o statute_n of_o this_o realm_n can_v or_o may_v be_v inflict_v upon_o he_o or_o they_o for_o his_o or_o their_o offence_n or_o offence_n in_o that_o behalf_n and_o our_o will_n and_o pleasure_n be_v and_o we_o do_v by_o these_o present_n for_o we_o our_o heir_n and_o successor_n straight_o charge_v and_o command_v the_o say_a master_n warden_n and_o assistant_n of_o the_o say_a art_n or_o mystery_n and_o their_o successor_n for_o the_o time_n be_v that_o once_o in_o every_o month_n at_o the_o least_o such_o search_n be_v make_v as_o be_v aforesaid_a and_o that_o the_o authority_n hereby_o in_o that_o behalf_n to_o they_o give_v be_v put_v in_o due_a execution_n without_o any_o respect_n of_o person_n or_o partiality_n whatsoever_o provide_v always_o nevertheless_o and_o our_o will_n &_o pleasure_n be_v that_o neither_o the_o master_n nor_o warden_n of_o the_o say_a art_n or_o mystery_n for_o the_o time_n be_v or_o any_o their_o deputy_n or_o deputy_n so_o authorize_v to_o search_v as_o be_v aforesaid_a shall_v not_o by_o colour_n of_o these_o letter_n patent_n meddle_v with_o or_o do_v any_o thing_n to_o the_o hindrance_n stay_v or_o prevention_n of_o any_o ship_n pinnace_n or_o other_o vessel_n that_o be_v or_o shall_v be_v at_o the_o time_n of_o such_o their_o search_n as_o aforesaid_a ready_a to_o go_v forth_o for_o any_o intend_a voyage_n or_o journey_n or_o the_o master_n owner_n mariner_n saylor_n or_o other_o officer_n of_o the_o same_o any_o thing_n in_o these_o present_n to_o the_o contrary_a thereof_o in_o any_o wise_n notwithstanding_o sea_n and_o further_o of_o our_o mere_a especial_a grace_n certain_a knowledge_n and_o mere_a motion_n we_o do_v by_o these_o present_n for_o we_o our_o heir_n and_o the_o say_a ship_n so_o as_o the_o say_a ship_n do_v contain_v in_o burden_n one_o hundred_o ton_n or_o upward_o in_o ton_n and_o tonnage_n which_o laudable_a custom_n we_o be_v please_v to_o continue_v and_o find_v it_o also_o convenient_a aswell_o for_o the_o avoid_v of_o abuse_n that_o may_v be_v offer_v in_o rate_v and_o set_v down_o the_o tonnage_n of_o the_o say_a ship_n and_o otherwise_o as_o also_o that_o the_o builder_n may_v have_v his_o right_n and_o due_a allowance_n of_o tonnage_n to_o appoint_v some_o person_n or_o person_n of_o knowledge_n and_o experience_n for_o the_o survey_a and_o oversee_n of_o the_o true_a rate_n and_o tonnage_n in_o that_o behalf_n we_o do_v by_o our_o letter_n patent_n under_o the_o great_a seal_n of_o england_n bear_v date_n the_o 24._o day_n of_o april_n in_o the_o three_o year_n of_o our_o reign_n give_v and_o grant_v to_o john_n grent_a gentleman_n for_o and_o during_o his_o natural_a life_n the_o office_n and_o place_n of_o surveyor_n of_o the_o tonnage_n and_o burden_n of_o all_o new_a build_a ship_n of_o the_o burden_n above_o mention_v or_o upward_o from_o time_n to_o time_n within_o this_o our_o realm_n of_o england_n together_o with_o the_o wage_n and_o fee_n of_o twelve_o penny_n by_o the_o day_n of_o lawful_a money_n of_o england_n for_o the_o exercise_v of_o the_o say_a office_n or_o place_n together_o with_o all_o and_o singular_a other_o fee_n profit_n commodity_n and_o allowance_n whatsoever_o to_o the_o same_o place_n or_o office_n in_o any_o wise_a due_a incident_a or_o appertain_a
