sacrifice_n divide_v they_o do_v solemn_o swear_v and_o ratify_v their_o covenant_n and_o if_o this_o be_v yield_v they_o it_o than_o follow_v from_o 10._o this_o custom_n that_o christ_n must_v be_v likewise_o to_o maintain_v it_o in_o the_o punish_n of_o one_o who_o have_v no_o fault_n at_o all_o to_o answer_v for_o and_o to_o think_v to_o escape_v this_o by_o say_v that_o to_o such_o a_o person_n such_o thing_n be_v calamity_n but_o no_o punishment_n be_v to_o revive_v the_o ancient_a explode_a stoicism_n which_o think_v to_o reform_v the_o disease_n of_o mankind_n by_o mere_a change_v the_o name_n of_o thing_n though_o never_o so_o contrary_a to_o the_o common_a sense_n of_o humane_a nature_n which_o judge_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o punishment_n by_o the_o evil_n man_n undergo_v and_o the_o end_n they_o be_v design_v for_o and_o by_o the_o very_a same_o reason_n that_o god_n may_v exercise_v his_o dominion_n on_o so_o innocent_a a_o person_n as_o our_o saviour_n be_v without_o any_o respect_n to_o sin_n as_o the_o move_a cause_n to_o it_o he_o may_v lay_v eternal_a torment_n on_o a_o most_o innocent_a creature_n for_o degree_n and_o continuance_n do_v not_o alter_v the_o reason_n of_o thing_n and_o then_o escape_v with_o the_o same_o evasion_n that_o this_o be_v no_o act_n of_o injustice_n in_o god_n because_o it_o be_v a_o mere_a exercise_n of_o dominion_n and_o when_o once_o a_o sinner_n come_v to_o be_v persuade_v by_o this_o that_o god_n will_v pardon_v he_o it_o must_v be_v by_o the_o hope_n that_o god_n will_v show_v kindness_n to_o such_o suffering_n and_o consequent_o of_o such_o a_o consent_n which_o can_v be_v imagine_v but_o upon_o very_o weighty_a motive_n such_o as_o may_v make_v it_o just_a in_o he_o to_o consent_v as_o well_o as_o in_o god_n to_o inflict_v neither_o can_v it_o be_v think_v that_o all_o the_o design_n of_o the_o suffering_n of_o christ_n be_v to_o give_v we_o a_o example_n and_o a_o encouragement_n to_o suffer_v ourselves_o though_o it_o do_v so_o in_o a_o very_a great_a measure_n as_o appear_v by_o the_o text_n itself_o for_o the_o hope_n of_o a_o eternal_a reward_n for_o these_o short_a and_o light_a affliction_n aught_o to_o be_v encouragement_n enough_o to_o go_v through_o the_o misery_n of_o this_o life_n in_o expectation_n of_o a_o better_a to_o come_v and_o the_o cloud_n of_o witness_n both_o under_o the_o law_n and_o the_o gospel_n of_o those_o who_o have_v suffer_v for_o righteousness_n sake_n aught_o to_o make_v no_o one_o think_v it_o strange_a if_o he_o must_v endure_v that_o which_o so_o many_o have_v do_v before_o he_o and_o be_v crown_v for_o it_o and_o last_o to_o question_v whether_o christ_n can_v have_v pity_n enough_o upon_o we_o in_o our_o
