apostle_n will_v that_o a_o good_a christian_a may_v be_v warrant_v to_o rejoice_v always_o in_o the_o lord_n chap._n xxii_o of_o the_o let_n of_o true_a joy_n and_o first_o of_o sin_n and_o how_o the_o lord_n raise_v thence_o maat_a of_o rejoice_v to_o believer_n of_o all_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v of_o this_o nature_n and_o kind_n the_o great_a doubt_n so_o far_o as_o i_o conceive_v may_v near_o unto_o we_o in_o judgement_n to_o smite_v we_o with_o his_o rod_n lay_v on_o heavy_a chastisement_n and_o bring_v sore_o and_o great_a trouble_n upon_o us._n for_o as_o for_o all_o else_o that_o do_v befall_v unto_o we_o by_o any_o other_o mean_n of_o man_n or_o devil_n or_o any_o other_o the_o creature_n if_o they_o be_v not_o arm_v and_o make_v strong_a against_o we_o by_o our_o and_o thorough_a reformation_n of_o life_n to_o follow_v after_o and_o for_o ever_o to_o be_v maintain_v and_o continue_v in_o to_o the_o end_n and_o that_o hypocrite_n can_v as_o well_o counterfeit_a this_o as_o any_o of_o the_o rest_n that_o you_o likewise_o do_v now_o show_v some_o prognant_a and_o clear_a difference_n whereby_o the_o repentance_n of_o a_o true_a believer_n who_o faith_n be_v unfeigned_a may_v be_v find_v to_o differ_v from_o the_o repentance_n of_o a_o hypocrite_n that_o be_v always_o hollow_a at_o the_o heart_n and_o unsound_a in_o his_o faith_n a._n repentance_n among_o other_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n spirit_n repentance_n repentance_n give_v to_o such_o as_o shall_v be_v save_v be_v one_o of_o the_o vital_a part_n of_o the_o body_n among_o other_o the_o member_n which_o can_v be_v want_v if_o we_o will_v have_v life_n well_o to_o remain_v repentance_n be_v call_v repentance_n unto_o life_n and_o be_v in_o some_o sort_n as_o necessary_a to_o be_v have_v as_o be_v true_a faith_n itself_o which_o can_v be_v true_a except_o this_o be_v accompany_v of_o it_o and_o therefore_o they_o be_v many_o time_n join_v together_o in_o the_o scripture_n and_o both_o by_o john_n the_o forerunner_n and_o by_o christ_n himself_o that_o follow_v after_o the_o one_o of_o they_o be_v as_o well_o commend_v unto_o we_o as_o be_v the_o other_o repent_v say_v they_o and_o believe_v the_o gospel_n this_o therefore_o be_v a_o grace_n absolute_o needful_a for_o all_o and_o which_o all_o seem_v to_o be_v desirous_a great_o to_o obtain_v there_o be_v none_o that_o will_v bear_v themselves_o more_o bold_a upon_o it_o and_o that_o will_v presume_v further_o upon_o their_o undoubted_a have_v of_o it_o than_o those_o that_o be_v most_o without_o it_o and_o be_v further_a from_o all_o likelihood_n or_o possibility_n of_o ever_o obtain_v it_o those_o be_v hypocrite_n and_o counterfeit_a believer_n of_o who_o our_o saviour_n christ_n say_v their_o portion_n assign_v to_o they_o be_v to_o be_v with_o the_o devil_n and_o his_o angel_n show_v that_o of_o all_o other_o there_o be_v least_o hope_n of_o their_o be_v ever_o bring_v to_o sound_a repentance_n that_o so_o final_o they_o may_v be_v save_v for_o he_o say_v that_o harlot_n and_o publican_n be_v near_o unto_o it_o then_o be_v they_o and_o therefore_o soon_o shall_v be_v save_v as_o who_o shall_v before_o they_o enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n and_o yet_o none_o will_v make_v a_o more_o fair_a show_n of_o be_v indeed_o humble_v and_o of_o earnest_o repent_v then_o will_v such_o there_o be_v no_o external_a action_n requisite_a to_o be_v do_v by_o he_o that_o be_v true_o penitent_a go_v how_o far_o hypocrite_n go_v indeed_o which_o they_o will_v not_o perform_v and_o that_o in_o outward_a appearance_n to_o the_o full_a they_o will_v fail_v in_o none_o of_o the_o part_n that_o do_v belong_v to_o the_o humble_v of_o the_o outward_a man_n and_o bring_v down_o of_o the_o body_n though_o it_o it_o be_v

any_o mourn_n sorrow_n and_o lament_v for_o the_o trouble_n loss_n and_o cross_n of_o other_o man_n their_o kindred_n friend_n and_o acquaintance_n but_o yet_o in_o a_o worldly_a respect_n there_o be_v a_o cernit_fw-la vixque_fw-la tenet_fw-la lachrimas_fw-la quia_fw-la nil_fw-la lachrimabile_fw-la cernit_fw-la kind_n of_o sorrow_n that_o be_v conceive_v about_o other_o matter_n which_o be_v the_o sorrow_n of_o envy_n conceive_v for_o other_o welfare_n which_o be_v devilish_a and_o destroy_a sorrow_n but_o to_o leave_v other_o matter_n and_o to_o consider_v of_o the_o sorrow_n of_o a_o worldling_n in_o his_o own_o particular_a case_n this_o worldly_a sorrow_n be_v such_o a_o sorrow_n as_o be_v conceive_v by_o he_o for_o worldly_a respect_n for_o fleshly_a and_o carnal_a end_n when_o one_o be_v make_v sorrowful_a not_o so_o much_o in_o respect_n of_o god_n or_o any_o reverence_n he_o bear_v to_o his_o glorious_a majesty_n who_o he_o have_v so_o much_o offend_v as_o for_o the_o present_a pain_n that_o be_v upon_o his_o carcase_n the_o anxiety_n upon_o his_o conscience_n and_o the_o grievous●es_n of_o some_o judgement_n and_o plague_n either_o fear_v or_o feel_v this_o be_v but_o a_o blind_a terror_n vexation_n and_o anguish_n of_o conscience_n which_o be_v bring_v upon_o they_o they_o many_o time_n neither_o know_v from_o who_o that_o come_v that_o do_v so_o trouble_v they_o nor_o for_o what_o it_o be_v that_o they_o be_v so_o smite_v strike_v they_o be_v and_o they_o know_v not_o by_o who_o they_o find_v not_o out_o the_o cause_n that_o procure_v their_o grief_n which_o be_v their_o sin_n and_o wickedness_n to_o get_v they_o remove_v and_o therefore_o the_o cause_n not_o be_v remove_v the_o effect_n must_v still_o remain_v they_o lie_v snare_v and_o hold_v fast_o by_o the_o cord_n of_o their_o own_o iniquity_n to_o those_o heavy_a misery_n plague_n and_o calamity_n which_o god_n by_o his_o righteous_a and_o just_a judgement_n do_v bring_v upon_o they_o so_o as_o he_o become_v sound_o convert_v by_o mean_n thereof_o but_o only_o move_v the_o heart_n for_o the_o present_a with_o the_o diuquiet_a of_o pain_n which_o only_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o it_o have_v be_v so_o vex_v by_o all_o this_o it_o may_v appear_v how_o the_o sorrow_n that_o be_v in_o the_o repentance_n of_o a_o true_a convert_n be_v find_v to_o be_v differ_v from_o the_o sorrow_n that_o be_v in_o the_o repentance_n of_o a_o hypocrite_n and_o that_o be_v in_o the_o object_n that_o either_o of_o they_o do_v respect_n and_o be_v occupy_v about_o the_o sorrow_n of_o he_o that_o be_v true_o penitent_a be_v most_o conversant_a and_o occupy_v about_o malum_fw-la peccati_fw-la the_o evil_a of_o his_o sin_n whereby_o god_n have_v be_v offend_v to_o be_v most_o grieve_a for_o that_o the_o sorrow_n of_o he_o who_o repentance_n be_v unsound_a be_v most_o of_o all_o occupy_v about_o malum_fw-la poenae_fw-la the_o evil_a of_o punishment_n and_o this_o by_o the_o marvelous_a sly_a and_o subtle_a work_n of_o satan_n and_o the_o unknown_a deceitfulnes_n of_o his_o own_o heart_n be_v always_o and_o even_o then_o do_v when_o it_o may_v be_v a_o false_a heart_a hypocrite_n do_v both_o think_v with_o himself_o and_o bold_o profess_v to_o other_o that_o it_o be_v his_o sin_n that_o he_o mourn_v for_o and_o be_v most_o trouble_v about_o when_o indeed_o if_o the_o truth_n be_v know_v and_o can_v be_v sound_v and_o see_v into_o which_o lie_v so_o deep_o bury_v under_o a_o mass_n and_o as_o i_o may_v say_v a_o mountain_n of_o hollow_a hypocrisy_n of_o such_o a_o man_n heart_n it_o will_v be_v find_v that_o it_o be_v either_o fear_n of_o some_o further_a punishment_n than_o yet_o he_o have_v endure_v or_o shame_n for_o his_o sin_n already_o commit_v which_o have_v thus_o break_v out_o or_o loss_n of_o his_o credit_n or_o some_o profit_n and_o benefit_n that_o be_v like_a to_o follow_v thereof_o or_o else_o the_o sense_n of_o some_o sting_a judgement_n and_o plague_n that_o he_o now_o go_v under_o and_o thing_n of_o the_o like_a nature_n all_o which_o be_v yet_o but_o punishment_n for_o his_o sin_n to_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o he_o be_v most_o chief_o move_v for_o about_o these_o thing_n he_o principal_o be_v grieve_v and_o that_o in_o the_o first_o place_n and_o for_o their_o own_o sake_n as_o which_o he_o be_v most_o afraid_a of_o and_o which_o he_o do_v most_o abhor_v he_o may_v also_o be_v grieve_v for_o his_o sin_n sin_n false_a sorrow_n for_o sin_n and_o wish_v it_o have_v never_o be_v do_v but_o this_o he_o do_v in_o a_o secondary_a place_n and_o in_o a_o by_o respect_n not_o simple_o grieve_v for_o the_o sin_n and_o abhor_v it_o therefore_o because_o it_o be_v sin_n but_o because_o it_o be_v like_a to_o bring_v all_o this_o woe_n upon_o he_o and_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o the_o punishment_n that_o he_o present_o do_v go_v under_o for_o who_o know_v the_o depth_n of_o satan_n how_o cunning_a a_o deceiver_n he_o be_v that_o can_v deceive_v the_o false-hearted_a hypocrite_n himself_o that_o be_v so_o ordinary_a a_o deceiver_n of_o other_o and_o cause_n that_o in_o a_o most_o material_a point_n necessary_a to_o salvation_n he_o shall_v be_v oversee_v most_o and_o soon_o deceive_v himself_o and_o who_o know_v beside_o satan_n cunning_a work_n how_o many_o nook_n and_o crook_n wind_n and_o turn_n again_o be_v in_o that_o labyrinth_n of_o a_o hypocrite_n hollow_a heart_n wherein_o deceit_n may_v close_o be_v hide_v and_o never_o find_v out_o no_o not_o the_o wrong_n and_o wry_a respect_n that_o be_v in_o his_o own_o heart_n and_o privy_o do_v lead_v and_o guide_v he_o in_o the_o action_n that_o himself_o do_v commit_v they_o be_v not_o easy_o discernible_a to_o his_o own_o self_n much_o less_o can_v they_o be_v show_v by_o other_o which_o they_o be_v and_o where_o they_o lie_v that_o so_o they_o may_v be_v the_o better_o take_v heed_n of_o but_o indeed_o the_o main_a object_n of_o the_o sorrow_n of_o a_o hypocrite_n be_v malum_fw-la poenae_fw-la the_o evil_a of_o the_o punishment_n with_o which_o he_o be_v smite_v and_o make_v so_o to_o smart_n that_o he_o can_v rest_v in_o quiet_a and_o that_o make_v he_o so_o much_o to_o sorrow_n and_o be_v grieve_v which_o else_o he_o will_v not_o he_o may_v be_v humble_v but_o it_o be_v rather_o before_o his_o sickness_n with_o which_o he_o be_v afflict_v then_o before_o the_o lord_n who_o he_o have_v offend_v chap._n xxx_o how_o they_o differ_v also_o in_o the_o effect_n which_o either_o do_v bring_v forth_o and_o in_o the_o cause_n of_o either_o the_o one_o namely_o godly_a sorrow_n of_o a_o true_a convert_n sorrow_n effect_n of_o godly_a sorrow_n draw_v a_o man_n to_o god_n and_o cause_v he_o to_o seek_v comfort_n from_o he_o alone_o even_o
