if_o you_o think_v that_o our_o saviour_n christ_n mean_v that_o we_o shall_v bear_v as_o great_a love_n to_o stranger_n &_o to_o our_o enemy_n as_o to_o our_o friend_n you_o be_v far_o deceive_v for_o so_o he_o shall_v destroy_v nature_n itself_o which_o have_v with_o she_o own_o fingerwritten_a in_o our_o heart_n this_o description_n of_o love_n which_o i_o have_v bring_v to_o wit_n that_o our_o love_n shall_v be_v great_a towards_o they_o at_o who_o hand_n we_o have_v receive_v pleasure_n and_o comfort_n then_o to_o they_o who_o be_v stranger_n or_o enemy_n unto_o us._n but_o his_o meaning_n be_v that_o to_o our_o enemy_n we_o shall_v not_o be_v full_a of_o anger_n and_o revenge_n but_o patient_a gentle_a yea_o loving_a and_o helpful_a labour_v by_o good_a to_o overcome_v their_o ill_n and_o that_o by_o do_v good_a to_o stranger_n from_o who_o or_o from_o any_o in_o their_o name_n we_o be_v never_o like_a to_o receive_v any_o retribution_n we_o shall_v show_v the_o betwixt_o the_o election_n and_o the_o love_n of_o god_n for_o god_n choose_v and_o predestinanate_v to_o love_v of_o his_o own_o mere_a will_n but_o he_o love_v not_o but_o for_o some_o cause_n for_o as_o his_o love_n be_v in_o the_o general_a notion_n incline_v to_o good_a &_o not_o to_o evil_a so_o he_o love_v nothing_o but_o that_o which_o be_v good_a yea_o and_o he_o love_v it_o because_o it_o be_v good_a and_o for_o the_o goodness_n sake_n if_o you_o say_v what_o be_v our_o goodness_n to_o god_n that_o he_o shall_v love_v we_o for_o it_o what_o do_v it_o profit_n or_o pleasure_v he_o indeed_o he_o stand_v in_o no_o need_n of_o it_o yet_o he_o take_v pleasure_n in_o it_o the_o lord_n delight_v in_o the_o righteousness_n of_o his_o saint_n their_o sin_n be_v as_o eyesore_n &_o we_o even_o as_o the_o great_a joy_n &_o pleasure_n that_o a_o man_n can_v have_v in_o any_o worldly_a thing_n be_v to_o behold_v his_o own_o favour_n and_o fashion_n his_o own_o countenance_n and_o condition_n in_o his_o son_n and_o therefore_o the_o more_o that_o a_o man_n in_o holiness_n resemble_v god_n the_o more_o he_o be_v belove_v of_o he_o as_o be_v so_o much_o like_a to_o he_o as_o it_o bear_v at_o the_o appoint_a time_n his_o own_o image_n of_o holiness_n and_o so_o the_o foresight_n of_o holiness_n in_o he_o may_v be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o the_o cause_n of_o god_n love_n though_o not_o of_o his_o election_n for_o god_n may_v choose_v to_o love_v who_o he_o listen_v but_o he_o can_v love_v but_o according_a to_o his_o own_o nature_n neither_o any_o thing_n but_o that_o which_o be_v in_o some_o sort_n agreeable_a to_o his_o nature_n for_o he_o can_v love_v or_o like_v but_o must_v of_o necessity_n hate_n and_o abhor_v evil_a as_o well_o in_o concreto_fw-la as_o in_o abstracto_fw-la in_o parricular_a subject_n as_o well_o as_o in_o general_a notion_n that_o so_o he_o may_v be_v always_o like_o himself_o sect._n 3_o gent._n i_o will_v not_o contend_v with_o you_o their_o several_a kind_n and_o degree_n have_v in_o they_o a_o special_a goodness_n in_o respect_n whereof_o god_n may_v be_v say_v to_o love_n and_o favour_v they_o as_o we_o read_v gen._n 1._o 31._o that_o god_n have_v finish_v all_o the_o creature_n look_v upon_o they_o and_o see_v they_o all_o to_o be_v good_a bless_v they_o and_o still_o to_o extend_v his_o gracious_a providence_n over_o they_o all_o preserve_v and_o uphold_v they_o not_o only_o by_o the_o ordinary_a force_n of_o
but_o even_o the_o spiritual_a angel_n be_v subject_a to_o affection_n passion_n and_o perturbation_n but_o god_n be_v a_o pure_a and_o mere_a form_n and_o therefore_o altogether_o actual_a he_o be_v immaterial_a and_o therefore_o impassable_a gent._n belike_o you_o make_v all_o affection_n to_o be_v act_n motion_n and_o inclination_n of_o the_o will_n but_o with_o this_o difference_n that_o in_o god_n they_o be_v eternal_a general_a constant_a and_o quiet_a and_o indeed_o act_n of_o the_o will_n but_o neither_o motion_n nor_o inclination_n but_o in_o man_n momentanie_n variable_a evident_a rage_a &_o particular_a stir_v up_o not_o by_o the_o general_a consideration_n of_o the_o diverse_a nature_n of_o thing_n as_o they_o be_v in_o god_n who_o affection_n in_o that_o respect_n must_v needs_o be_v constant_a because_o the_o general_a nature_n and_o notion_n of_o thing_n be_v eternal_a and_o immutable_a but_o with_o this_o or_o that_o particular_a object_n and_o therefore_o variable_a and_o uncertain_a gent._n i_o perceive_v your_o meaning_n save_v only_o that_o i_o do_v not_o see_v why_o god_n will_v shall_v be_v say_v to_o be_v move_v with_o general_a object_n only_o and_o not_o also_o with_o particular_a person_n &_o action_n for_o we_o know_v that_o he_o be_v diverse_o affect_v towards_o particular_a man_n and_o hate_v evil_a not_o only_o in_o abstracto_fw-la
