that_o be_v partaker_n of_o our_o nature_n who_o we_o do_v better_o know_v and_o with_o who_o we_o do_v more_o familiar_o associate_v ourselves_o and_o so_o that_o there_o may_v be_v some_o by_o who_o other_o also_o may_v be_v convert_v both_o by_o doctrine_n and_o good_a example_n it_o be_v not_o meet_v that_o we_o shall_v by_o and_o by_o after_o baptism_n be_v take_v into_o heaven_n wherein_o notwithstanding_o we_o be_v already_o admit_v citizen_n purgatory_n a_o practice_n of_o satan_n &_o antichrist_n to_o delude_v man_n with_o purgatory_n hereupon_o if_o one_o weigh_v all_o thing_n right_o it_o can_v not_o be_v doubt_v that_o it_o be_v a_o practice_n and_o miracle_n of_o satan_n and_o antichrist_n that_o so_o much_o be_v spend_v for_o purgatory_n sake_n such_o faith_n as_o this_o be_v put_v quite_o out_o of_o man_n mind_n for_o man_n be_v teach_v by_o their_o work_n to_o save_v themselves_o from_o purgatory_n or_o at_o the_o least_o to_o deliver_v themselves_o out_o from_o thence_o as_o though_o salvation_n be_v not_o yet_o give_v we_o and_o it_o be_v necessary_a to_o come_v unto_o it_o by_o other_o mean_n then_o by_o faith_n alone_o which_o how_o it_o disagree_v with_o the_o scripture_n and_o a_o christian_a life_n there_o be_v no_o man_n that_o do_v not_o see_v but_o he_o that_o see_v nothing_o in_o the_o scripture_n for_o thus_o the_o holy_a scripture_n do_v teach_v every_o where_n that_o who_o soever_o do_v not_o receive_v salvation_n by_o mere_a grace_n through_o faith_n before_o all_o work_n he_o shall_v never_o be_v partaker_n thereof_o and_o that_o who_o soever_o refer_v their_o good_a work_n not_o to_o the_o profit_n of_o their_o neighbour_n but_o to_o their_o own_o commodity_n be_v more_o careful_a of_o their_o own_o salvation_n then_o of_o their_o neighbour_n have_v no_o good_a work_n at_o all_o all_o the_o work_n of_o these_o be_v void_a of_o faith_n and_o infect_v with_o pernicious_a error_n it_o have_v be_v great_o to_o be_v wish_v that_o purgatory_n have_v never_o be_v invent_v and_o never_o mention_v make_v thereof_o in_o the_o pulpit_n for_o it_o have_v be_v cause_n of_o such_o hindrance_n to_o christian_a verity_n and_o sincere_a truth_n as_o can_v not_o be_v recover_v for_o we_o see_v it_o now_o bring_v to_o pass_v by_o the_o mean_n of_o satan_n that_o almost_o all_o prayer_n be_v direct_v to_o only_a purgatory_n with_o this_o ungodly_a and_o pestilent_a opinion_n whereby_o miserable_a man_n think_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v redeem_v from_o thence_o and_o obtain_v salvation_n by_o the_o work_n of_o man_n whereby_o the_o riches_n of_o baptism_n and_o faith_n be_v have_v in_o no_o reputation_n and_o they_o at_o the_o last_o of_o christian_n become_v heathen_a o_o most_o pernicious_a abomination_n christian_n shall_v be_v teach_v as_o christ_n and_o paul_n teach_v they_o that_o after_o baptism_n and_o absolution_n from_o sin_n they_o shall_v so_o live_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v ready_a every_o hour_n to_o receive_v death_n with_o desire_n look_v for_o the_o revelation_n of_o salvation_n already_o receive_v now_o by_o the_o opinion_n of_o purgatory_n they_o be_v make_v by_o the_o power_n of_o it_o his_o hart_n also_o be_v make_v pure_a and_o replenish_v with_o true_a love_n whereupon_o he_o pour_v forâ—h_v the_o treasure_n of_o his_o love_n towards_o every_o man_n neither_o be_v he_o move_v or_o turn_v away_o with_o the_o person_n of_o any_o whether_o he_o be_v good_a or_o evil_n behold_v thus_o shall_v they_o preach_v which_o will_v right_o teach_v love_n some_o other_o thing_n which_o be_v dear_a and_o excellent_a unto_o he_o as_o when_o we_o pray_v unto_o god_n by_o his_o mercy_n by_o his_o son_n by_o his_o promise_n by_o his_o name_n etc._n etc._n as_o solomon_n psal_n 132_o lord_n remember_v david_n and_o all_o his_o trouble_n and_o paul_n rom._n 12_o i_o beseech_v you_o by_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o 2._o cor._n 10_o i_o beseech_v you_o by_o the_o mekenes_n and_o gentleness_n of_o christ_n request_n a_o petition_n or_o request_n etc._n etc._n a_o petition_n or_o request_n be_v when_o we_o name_v that_o which_o be_v desire_v and_o for_o which_o prayer_n and_o supplication_n be_v make_v as_o in_o the_o lord_n prayer_n all_o that_o composition_n of_o word_n be_v call_v prayer_n but_o those_o seven_o thing_n for_o which_o we_o pray_v as_o hallow_v be_v thy_o name_n thy_o kingdom_n come_v etc._n etc._n be_v petition_n according_a to_o that_o say_n matth._n 7_o ask_v and_o it_o shall_v be_v give_v you_o seek_v and_o you_o how_o goodly_a a_o order_n do_v paul_n here_o instruct_v a_o christian_a man_n first_o he_o teach_v he_o to_o be_v glad_a and_o joyful_a in_o the_o lord_n by_o faith_n second_o to_o show_v himself_o meek_a and_o gentle_a to_o all_o his_o neighbour_n and_o if_o thou_o say_v how_o can_v i_o do_v that_o without_o loss_n or_o hindrance_n he_o answer_v the_o lord_n be_v at_o hand_n if_o thou_o again_o which_o be_v that_o whereby_o tribulation_n take_v a_o end_n and_o be_v change_v with_o outward_a tranquillicie_n this_o peace_n do_v not_o pass_v reason_n but_o be_v agreeable_a unto_o it_o inasmuch_o as_o it_o be_v seek_v and_o find_v out_o of_o it_o wherefore_o they_o that_o be_v void_a of_o faith_n be_v exceed_o disquiet_v and_o trouble_v until_o according_a to_o the_o reason_n of_o the_o flesh_n they_o obtain_v this_o peace_n by_o heard_o deliver_v or_o rid_v themselves_o of_o adversity_n not_o regard_v whether_o they_o bring_v that_o to_o pass_v by_o force_n or_o by_o craft_n as_o he_o that_o have_v receive_v a_o wound_n seek_v to_o have_v it_o heal_v enjoy_v the_o peace_n which_o the_o faithful_a enjoy_v etc._n etc._n but_o they_o that_o rejoice_v sincere_o in_o the_o lord_n it_o be_v sufficient_a for_o they_o that_o they_o know_v that_o they_o have_v god_n favourable_a unto_o they_o and_o have_v assure_v peace_n with_o he_o they_o abide_v willing_o in_o tribulation_n be_v nothing_o careful_a for_o that_o peace_n of_o reason_n by_o the_o remove_n of_o outward_a trouble_n but_o they_o endure_v they_o valiant_o look_v to_o be_v strengthen_v inward_o by_o faith_n take_v no_o care_n whether_o the_o adversity_n which_o they_o suffer_v shall_v remain_v a_o short_a or_o a_o long_a time_n whether_o they_o shall_v be_v temporal_a or_o continue_a neither_o be_v disquiet_v with_o care_v what_o end_n they_o shall_v have_v they_o commit_v all_o thing_n to_o god_n seek_v not_o to_o know_v when_o how_o where_o or_o by_o who_o he_o will_v give_v they_o quietness_n wherefore_o god_n again_o show_v they_o this_o favour_n that_o he_o make_v the_o end_n of_o their_o trial_n to_o be_v such_o and_o with_o so_o great_a commodity_n as_o no_o man_n can_v either_o suspect_v or_o wish_v for_o loe_o this_o be_v that_o peace_n of_o the_o cross_n the_o peace_n of_o god_n the_o peace_n of_o conscience_n true_a christian_a peace_n which_o make_v that_o a_o man_n outward_o also_o as_o much_o as_o be_v in_o he_o live_v quiet_o and_o peaceable_o with_o all_o man_n &_o trouble_v not_o man_n this_o peace_n reason_n be_v not_o able_a by_o any_o mean_n to_o know_v or_o comprehend_v that_o a_o man_n under_o the_o cross_n may_v have_v quietness_n of_o mind_n and_o joy_n of_o heart_n and_o peace_n even_o in_o the_o very_a invasion_n of_o his_o enemy_n this_o be_v the_o gift_n and_o work_n of_o god_n know_v to_o none_o but_o to_o he_o that_o have_v it_o and_o have_v try_v it_o whereas_o paul_n say_v 15.13_o rom._n 15.13_o now_o the_o god_n of_o hope_n fill_v you_o with_o all_o joy_n &_o peace_n in_o believe_v that_o which_o he_o call_v in_o these_o word_n peace_n in_o believe_v he_o call_v in_o our_o present_a text_n the_o peace_n of_o god_n moreover_o paul_n signify_v in_o these_o word_n that_o whosoever_o will_v rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n by_o faith_n and_o be_v meek_a and_o of_o a_o patient_a mind_n towards_o all_o by_o love_n the_o devil_n undouted_o be_v against_o he_o faithful_a the_o devil_n labour_v to_o hinder_v and_o stay_v the_o godly_a proceed_n of_o the_o faithful_a and_o will_v raise_v up_o some_o cross_n that_o he_o may_v drive_v he_o from_o so_o christian_n a_o purpose_n wherefore_o the_o apostle_n will_v have_v every_o one_o to_o be_v prepare_v against_o this_o assault_n of_o satan_n and_o to_o place_v his_o mind_n heart_n and_o conscience_n be_v preserve_v and_o keep_v in_o peace_n neither_o can_v patience_n endure_v where_o the_o heart_n be_v not_o confirm_v with_o this_o peace_n for_o that_o he_o only_o which_o have_v this_o peace_n do_v thorough_o persuade_v himself_o that_o god_n be_v favourable_a unto_o he_o &_o careful_a for_o he_o and_o make_v no_o account_n what_o chance_v unto_o he_o from_o creature_n moreover_o let_v no_o man_n understand_v here_o the_o heart_n and_o mind_n to_o be_v the_o will_n and_o knowledge_n of_o nature_n but_o as_o paul_n himself_o interprete_v the_o devil_n go_v about_o with_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n and_o other_o trouble_v to_o terrify_v and_o drive_v from_o this_o godliness_n erect_v a_o false_a hope_n there_o against_o by_o the_o devise_n and_o imagination_n of_o man_n wherewith_o the_o mind_n be_v seduce_v that_o it_o may_v seek_v to_o be_v comfort_v and_o holpen_v of_o itself_o or_o other_o creature_n which_o if_o it_o do_v sure_o only_o and_o thereby_o they_o do_v altogether_o hinder_v the_o end_n of_o the_o law_n and_o strive_v against_o faith_n and_o grace_n whereunto_o if_o they_o be_v not_o blind_a the_o law_n will_v direct_v and_o drive_v they_o and_o so_o they_o continue_v always_o a_o blind_a blockish_a and_o miserable_a people_n these_o thing_n paul_n teach_v rom._n 3_o and_o 7._o and_o do_v free_o pronounce_v that_o no_o man_n be_v justify_v before_o god_n by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n law_n no_o man_n be_v justify_v by_o the_o law_n add_v no_o other_o cause_n hereof_o than_o this_o for_o that_o the_o knowledge_n of_o sin_n only_o come_v by_o the_o law_n if_o thou_o will_v know_v how_o this_o come_v to_o pass_v consider_v well_o some_o one_o of_o cain_n brood_n and_o thou_o shall_v by_o and_o by_o see_v it_o verify_v first_o he_o work_v his_o work_n according_a to_o the_o law_n with_o great_a grief_n and_o labour_n and_o yet_o he_o therewith_o confess_v that_o he_o be_v uncertain_a whether_o he_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o holy_a yea_o he_o condemn_v and_o curse_v this_o faith_n as_o the_o most_o pernicious_a arrogancy_n and_o error_n of_o all_o other_o and_o will_v continue_v in_o his_o dout_n until_o he_o be_v make_v certain_a by_o his_o work_n here_o thou_o see_v plain_o that_o such_o a_o man_n be_v not_o good_a or_o righteous_a see_v that_o he_o want_v this_o faith_n and_o belief_n that_o he_o be_v count_v acceptable_a before_o god_n and_o his_o son_n yea_o he_o be_v a_o enemy_n of_o this_o faith_n and_o therefore_o of_o righteousness_n also_o wherefore_o neither_o can_v his_o work_n be_v count_v good_a although_o they_o pretend_v a_o fair_a show_n of_o fulfil_v the_o law_n and_o thus_o be_v it_o easy_a to_o understand_v that_o which_o paul_n say_v that_o no_o man_n be_v justify_v before_o god_n by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n for_o the_o worker_n must_v be_v justify_v before_o god_n before_o he_o work_v any_o good_a thing_n although_o before_o man_n which_o esteem_v a_o man_n by_o outward_a thing_n and_o not_o by_o the_o mind_n they_o be_v count_v righteous_a which_o apply_v themselves_o to_o the_o do_v of_o good_a work_n for_o man_n judge_v the_o worker_n by_o the_o work_n god_n judge_v the_o work_n by_o the_o worker_n now_o the_o first_o precept_n require_v that_o we_o acknowledge_v &_o worship_v one_o god_n that_o be_v that_o we_o trust_v and_o rest_n in_o he_o alone_o which_o in_o deed_n be_v the_o true_a faith_n whereby_o we_o become_v the_o son_n of_o god_n but_o how_o easy_a be_v it_o by_o this_o precept_n to_o know_v that_o sin_n be_v both_o in_o he_o of_o cain_n brood_n &_o in_o thyself_o inasmuch_o as_o both_o of_o you_o want_v such_o a_o faith_n even_o by_o your_o own_o nature_n which_o thou_o can_v not_o know_v but_o by_o mean_n of_o this_o law_n and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o paul_n mean_v when_o he_o say_v that_o by_o the_o law_n come_v the_o knowledge_n of_o sin_n 3.20_o rom._n 3.20_o now_o thou_o can_v be_v deliver_v from_o this_o evil_n of_o infidelity_n neither_o by_o thy_o own_o power_n nor_o by_o the_o power_n of_o the_o law_n wherefore_o all_o thy_o work_n whereby_o thou_o go_v about_o to_o satisfy_v the_o law_n can_v be_v nothing_o but_o work_n of_o the_o law_n of_o far_o less_o importance_n then_o that_o they_o be_v able_a to_o justify_v thou_o before_o god_n who_o count_v they_o only_o righteous_a which_o true_o believe_v in_o he_o for_o they_o only_o acknowledge_v he_o the_o true_a god_n be_v his_o son_n and_o do_v true_o fulfil_v the_o law_n but_o if_o thou_o shall_v even_o kill_v thyself_o with_o work_n yet_o be_v it_o so_o far_o of_o that_o thy_o hart_n can_v obtain_v this_o faith_n thereby_o that_o thy_o work_n be_v even_o a_o hindrance_n that_o thou_o can_v not_o know_v it_o yea_o they_o be_v a_o cause_n that_o thou_o do_v persecute_v it_o hereupon_o it_o be_v that_o he_o that_o study_v to_o fulfil_v the_o law_n without_o faith_n be_v afflict_v for_o the_o devil_n sake_n and_o not_o for_o god_n sake_n and_o continue_v a_o persecutor_n both_o of_o faith_n and_o of_o the_o law_n until_o he_o come_v to_o himself_o and_o do_v plain_o cease_v to_o trust_v in_o himself_o and_o in_o his_o own_o work_n do_v give_v this_o glory_n unto_o god_n who_o justifi_v the_o ungodly_a acknowledge_v himself_o to_o be_v nothing_o and_o figh_v for_o god_n his_o grace_n whereof_o he_o do_v now_o know_v be_v teach_v by_o the_o law_n that_o he_o have_v need_n then_o faith_n and_o grace_n come_v and_o fill_v he_o be_v empty_a satisfy_v he_o be_v hungry_a by_o and_o by_o follow_v good_a work_n which_o be_v true_o good_a neither_o be_v they_o now_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n but_o of_o the_o spirit_n of_o faith_n and_o grace_n and_o they_o be_v call_v in_o the_o scripture_n the_o work_n of_o god_n which_o he_o work_v in_o us._n for_o whatsoever_o we_o do_v of_o our_o own_o power_n &_o strength_n evil_a all_o that_o we_o do_v of_o ourselves_o be_v not_o assist_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n be_v evil_a and_o be_v not_o wrought_v in_o we_o by_o his_o grace_n without_o doubt_n it_o be_v a_o work_n of_o the_o law_n and_o avail_v nothing_o to_o good_a and_o consequent_o that_o neither_o their_o work_n be_v good_a for_o how_o shall_v evil_a man_n work_v good_a work_n moreover_o those_o their_o work_n which_o in_o appearance_n &_o show_n seem_v to_o be_v good_a be_v either_o wrest_v from_o they_o by_o fear_n or_o be_v buy_v with_o promise_n a_o evil_a hart_n can_v do_v nothing_o that_o be_v good_a but_o this_o naughtiness_n of_o the_o hart_n &_o unwillingnes_n to_o do_v good_a the_o law_n bewray_v when_o it_o teach_v that_o god_n do_v not_o great_o esteem_v what_o the_o hand_n do_v but_o what_o the_o hart_n do_v which_o see_v it_o hate_v the_o law_n that_o be_v good_a who_o will_v deny_v it_o to_o be_v most_o evil_a sure_o it_o
but_o he_o love_v we_o also_o after_o a_o other_o special_a manner_n in_o that_o he_o have_v give_v his_o son_n for_o us._n joh._n 3._o for_o he_o have_v abundant_o bestow_v upon_o we_o all_o temporal_a and_o also_o eternal_a good_a thing_n yea_o his_o own_o self_n and_o have_v as_o it_o be_v pour_v himself_o with_o all_o that_o he_o be_v have_v and_o can_v into_o we_o who_o be_v sinner_n unworthy_a enemy_n and_o servant_n of_o satan_n so_o that_o he_o can_v not_o do_v and_o give_v unto_o we_o more_o &_o great_a thing_n now_o he_o who_o this_o divine_a fire_n of_o love_n which_o fill_v heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o yet_o be_v not_o comprehend_v do_v not_o kindle_v &_o inflame_v to_o love_n likewise_o his_o neighbour_n whosoever_o he_o be_v friend_n or_o enemy_n he_o i_o say_v will_v neither_o by_o law_n precept_n doctrine_n threaten_n and_o force_n be_v ever_o move_v to_o godliness_n &_o love_n walk_n say_v the_o apostle_n in_o love_n whereby_o he_o signify_v that_o our_o life_n be_v write_v eftsoon_o to_o have_v yield_v to_o the_o lord_n a_o sweet_a savour_n that_o be_v to_o have_v be_v acceptable_a unto_o he_o he_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o the_o old_a testament_n accept_v for_o christ_n sake_n who_o be_v to_o come_v christ_n the_o only_a sacrifice_n which_o god_n accept_v &_o whereby_o we_o be_v acceptable_a unto_o he_o notwithstanding_o that_o be_v not_o because_o of_o the_o work_n and_o sacrifice_n in_o itself_o as_o the_o jew_n false_o think_v &_o therefore_o be_v very_o often_o reprove_v of_o the_o prophet_n but_o for_o christ_n sake_n who_o be_v to_o come_v never_o wink_v at_o those_o thing_n they_o will_v reprove_v amend_v put_v away_o cover_n &_o cure_v whatsoever_o such_o thing_n shall_v burst_v forth_o among_o they_o that_o the_o heathen_a may_v not_o be_v offend_v and_o say_v see_v what_o vice_n the_o christian_n suffer_v among_o themselves_o how_o unclean_a and_o lewd_a a_o life_n do_v they_o lead_v think_v that_o all_o their_o whole_a life_n be_v defile_v with_o like_a vice_n as_o be_v their_o own_o we_o must_v needs_o confess_v that_o among_o christian_n some_o do_v eftsoon_o fall_v which_o we_o must_v needs_o bear_v it_o be_v well_o if_o only_o the_o better_a part_n live_v well_o &_o wink_v not_o at_o their_o sin_n neither_o teach_v they_o but_o rather_o reprove_v and_o amend_v they_o so_o paul_n exhort_v gal._n 6._o speak_v because_o of_o they_o who_o as_o soon_o as_o they_o see_v that_o all_o thing_n do_v not_o resemble_v &_o show_v forth_o a_o holiness_n among_o christian_n &_o that_o some_o do_v stumble_v &_o fall_v do_v think_v that_o there_o be_v no_o christian_a leave_v that_o the_o gospel_n be_v to_o no_o purpose_n &_o that_o all_o thing_n be_v teach_v and_o do_v in_o vain_a as_o though_o the_o life_n of_o
christian_n be_v now_o without_o fight_n victory_n &_o due_a triumph_n over_o sin_n be_v obtain_v when_o as_o rather_o it_o be_v a_o warfare_n and_o a_o continual_a fight_n where_o as_o therefore_o they_o do_v now_o sight_n and_o be_v in_o the_o camp_n it_o be_v no_o marvel_n if_o some_o fly_v away_o if_o some_o be_v wound_v if_o some_o fall_n yea_o &_o be_v even_o slay_v outright_o war_n be_v not_o make_v without_o peril_n and_o hurt_n if_o it_o be_v earnest_a war_n as_o it_o become_v saint_n this_o he_o add_v to_o his_o exhortation_n etc._n christian_n be_v saint_n &_o therefore_o must_v
