rather_o omit_v the_o service_n of_o god_n the_o hear_n and_o preach_v of_o his_o word_n than_o any_o gainful_a labour_n they_o do_v not_o see_v that_o while_o they_o neglect_v the_o word_n and_o seek_v their_o own_o gain_n they_o procure_v unto_o themselves_o a_o far_o great_a loss_n which_o although_o they_o do_v not_o present_o feel_v yet_o shall_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o their_o riches_n which_o with_o so_o great_a labour_n they_o heap_v together_o by_o god_n just_a judgement_n shall_v perish_v either_o by_o thief_n by_o war_n by_o fire_n or_o otherwise_o or_o else_o they_o shall_v never_o come_v to_o the_o heir_n who_o they_o do_v appoint_v but_o in_o popery_n this_o persuasion_n be_v deep_o root_v in_o man_n heart_n that_o if_o they_o have_v once_o hear_v a_o mass_n doctrine_n wicked_a opinion_n and_o false_a worship_n be_v whole_o give_v over_o to_o serve_v the_o god_n of_o this_o world_n and_o their_o god_n mammon_n seek_v with_o greediness_n and_o pleasure_n their_o own_o perdition_n &_o damnation_n and_o so_o albeit_o they_o be_v already_o whole_o possess_v in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o devil_n yet_o be_v they_o merry_a and_o joyful_a but_o the_o end_n be_v a_o false_a definition_n of_o the_o temple_n which_o the_o papist_n make_v that_o it_o be_v a_o house_n build_v with_o stone_n &_o timber_n to_o the_o honour_n of_o god_n what_o this_o temple_n be_v they_o themselves_o know_v not_o for_o the_o temple_n of_o solomon_n be_v not_o therefore_o beautiful_a because_o it_o be_v adorn_v with_o gold_n and_o silver_n and_o other_o precious_a ornament_n but_o the_o true_a beauty_n of_o that_o temple_n be_v because_o in_o that_o place_n the_o people_n hear_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n call_v upon_o his_o name_n find_v he_o merciful_a give_v peace_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n etc_n etc_n this_o be_v right_o to_o behold_v the_o temple_n and_o not_o as_o the_o visured_a bishop_n behold_v their_o idolatrous_a temple_n when_o they_o consecrate_v it_o these_o be_v then_o great_a cause_n of_o joy_n and_o gladness_n to_o have_v access_n unto_o the_o lord_n to_o hear_v this_o consolation_n that_o he_o be_v our_o god_n which_o will_v hear_v we_o which_o will_v deliver_v we_o in_o the_o time_n of_o trouble_n which_o will_v forgive_v we_o our_o sin_n and_o at_o the_o last_o will_v give_v we_o everlasting_a life_n for_o these_o figure_n of_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n do_v declare_v 1._o for_o so_o say_v moses_n the_o more_o the_o egyptian_n do_v vex_v they_o the_o more_o they_o multiply_v and_o grow_v to_o this_o agree_v also_o the_o say_n of_o the_o old_a church_n that_o the_o church_n be_v water_v with_o the_o blood_n of_o martyr_n the_o cause_n of_o this_o miraculous_a building_n be_v that_o where_o so_o ever_o god_n be_v believe_v and_o his_o word_n have_v in_o due_a reverence_n and_o regard_n there_o must_v needs_o follow_v a_o victory_n albeit_o the_o saint_n be_v destroy_v slay_v and_o seem_v utter_o to_o perish_v yea_o albeit_o god_n himself_o seem_v to_o have_v forsake_v they_o and_o with_o they_o to_o be_v oppress_v and_o overcome_v for_o so_o it_o be_v with_o god_n that_o when_o he_o seem_v most_o weak_a then_o be_v he_o most_o strong_a &_o when_o he_o be_v oppress_v in_o his_o saint_n then_o special_o he_o live_v triumph_v and_o be_v exalt_v in_o they_o and_o in_o diminish_v he_o most_o mighty_o increase_v of_o such_o a_o manner_n of_o building_n speak_v david_n also_o in_o this_o place_n that_o albeit_o jerusalem_n be_v compass_v about_o with_o so_o many_o enemy_n and_o idolatrous_a religion_n prosper_v notwithstanding_o there_o the_o word_n of_o god_n &_o true_a religion_n flourish_v who_o then_o can_v prevail_v against_o we_o when_o god_n be_v so_o with_o we_o and_o this_o be_v the_o true_a build_n of_o jerusalem_n to_o the_o which_o the_o king_n gather_v themselves_o and_o conspire_v against_o it_o but_o they_o be_v sudden_o drive_v back_o and_o can_v not_o prevail_v we_o also_o in_o these_o our_o day_n by_o our_o own_o experience_n have_v prove_v that_o the_o more_o the_o adversary_n of_o the_o word_n do_v rage_n the_o less_o they_o prevail_v against_o it_o yea_o so_o devil_n the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o world_n sin_n and_o death_n also_o against_o adulterer_n murderer_n thief_n false_a brethren_n etc_o etc_o for_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n the_o advance_v of_o his_o kingdom_n chastity_n innocence_n charity_n etc_n etc_n for_o god_n be_v invisible_a and_o therefore_o when_o they_o be_v hear_v which_o teach_v and_o preach_v unto_o we_o the_o word_n of_o god_n than_o god_n himself_o be_v hear_v for_o he_o can_v not_o be_v hear_v but_o by_o witness_n and_o as_o s._n paul_n call_v they_o by_o his_o messenger_n that_o which_o be_v teach_v they_o in_o the_o church_n be_v invisible_a and_o absent_a and_o therefore_o can_v be_v apprehend_v by_o no_o other_o mean_n but_o by_o the_o testimony_n of_o the_o word_n so_o the_o whole_a gospel_n be_v a_o testimony_n for_o it_o speak_v of_o thing_n absent_a and_o it_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o the_o preach_n of_o faith_n this_o i_o speak_v for_o the_o simple_a and_o ignorant_a concern_v this_o word_n testify_v this_o be_v the_o cause_n then_o why_o david_n so_o rejoice_v namely_o that_o his_o jerusalem_n be_v build_v to_o this_o end_n that_o the_o word_n of_o faith_n may_v there_o be_v preach_v whereby_o the_o people_n may_v learn_v to_o know_v what_o the_o will_n of_o god_n be_v what_o he_o intend_v to_o do_v with_o his_o people_n what_o punishment_n and_o plague_n he_o threaten_v to_o the_o wicked_a and_o this_o preach_n be_v the_o testimony_n which_o david_n here_o speak_v of_o make_v unto_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n gather_v together_o in_o this_o place_n whereby_o they_o be_v know_v to_o be_v the_o peculiar_a and_o choose_a people_n of_o god_n from_o all_o other_o nation_n as_o he_o say_v in_o a_o other_o psalm_n he_o have_v not_o so_o deal_v with_o every_o nation_n wherefore_o we_o also_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o acknowledge_v the_o rich_a blessing_n of_o god_n that_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v now_o pure_o &_o sincere_o preach_v amongst_o we_o as_o it_o be_v then_o in_o jerusalem_n and_o the_o sweet_a promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n sound_v in_o the_o ear_n &_o conscience_n of_o the_o godly_a to_o their_o singular_a comfort_n and_o consolation_n also_o the_o threaten_n of_o god_n publish_v whereby_o the_o wicked_a be_v call_v to_o repentance_n and_o the_o godly_a keep_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o mortification_n of_o the_o old_a man_n through_o the_o assistance_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n who_o the_o father_n through_o christ_n and_o for_o christ_n sake_n pour_v upon_o they_o abundant_o which_o willing_o and_o glad_o receive_v this_o testimony_n this_o be_v one_o part_n then_o of_o the_o true_a worship_n of_o god_n to_o learn_v the_o way_n how_o to_o worship_v god_n in_o such_o sort_n as_o best_o please_v he_o which_o consist_v in_o teach_v of_o the_o word_n &_o hear_n of_o god_n when_o he_o speak_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o witness_n and_o therefore_o the_o devil_n desire_v nothing_o so_o much_o as_o to_o hinder_v the_o preach_v &_o hear_v of_o the_o word_n for_o this_o cause_n he_o raise_v up_o as_o you_o hear_v in_o the_o first_o psalm_n lie_v lip_n and_o deceitful_a tongue_n he_o stir_v up_o the_o world_n with_o sword_n and_o power_n to_o oppress_v the_o godly_a and_o even_o in_o ourselves_o he_o go_v about_o to_o deface_v this_o kind_n of_o service_n and_o worship_n of_o god_n by_o our_o devilish_a contempt_n and_o loathe_n of_o the_o same_o but_o contrariwise_o to_o build_v church_n and_o gorgeous_o to_o deck_v they_o for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o mass_n oblation_n false_a worship_n and_o idolatry_n all_o this_o he_o can_v abide_v well_o enough_o for_o by_o these_o thing_n he_o know_v that_o his_o strength_n be_v not_o diminish_v nor_o his_o power_n weaken_v but_o when_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v preach_v concern_v remission_n of_o sin_n the_o righteousness_n that_o come_v by_o christ_n and_o life_n everlasting_a this_o doctrine_n destroy_v his_o kingdom_n this_o cause_v he_o to_o rage_n and_o to_o seek_v by_o all_o mean_v possible_a how_o he_o may_v hinder_v the_o course_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n be_v to_o praise_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n word_n this_o david_n make_v the_o second_o kind_n of_o worship_n when_o he_o commend_v his_o jerusalem_n and_o here_o again_o note_v that_o he_o speak_v nothing_o of_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o the_o law_n for_o albeit_o he_o do_v not_o discommend_v they_o as_o i_o say_v before_o yet_o he_o reckon_v they_o but_o as_o chaff_n in_o comparison_n of_o the_o word_n and_o the_o fruit_n which_o follow_v thereof_o which_o be_v thank_n give_v and_o if_o he_o have_v name_v the_o sley_a of_o sacrifice_n every_o man_n have_v not_o be_v able_a to_o serve_v god_n with_o that_o kind_n of_o worship_n therefore_o he_o require_v nothing_o else_o but_o that_o which_o they_o be_v able_a to_o do_v without_o great_a charge_n which_o yet_o notwithstanding_o very_o few_o do_v he_o do_v not_o condemn_v the_o build_n of_o the_o temple_n which_o afterward_o shall_v be_v do_v by_o his_o son_n solomon_n but_o do_v earnest_o desire_v the_o same_o and_o the_o cause_n why_o he_o do_v desire_v it_o here_o you_o see_v namely_o that_o first_o the_o name_n of_o god_n may_v there_o be_v preach_v and_o then_o that_o god_n may_v there_o accept_v the_o prayer_n of_o his_o people_n with_o praise_n and_o thank_n give_v for_o his_o benefit_n receive_v hitherto_o we_o have_v hear_v how_o the_o prophet_n extol_v and_o magnify_v the_o incomparable_a gift_n &_o benefit_n of_o god_n the_o word_n i_o mean_v with_o thank_n and_o praise_n unto_o god_n for_o the_o same_o for_o that_o be_v a_o benefit_n and_o blessing_n in_o deed_n which_o be_v know_v and_o acknowledge_v so_o to_o be_v all_o the_o world_n as_o we_o see_v be_v full_a &_o even_o glut_v with_o the_o benefit_n of_o god_n notwithstanding_o it_o remain_v still_o in_o such_o blindness_n that_o it_o know_v they_o not_o to_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o it_o take_v and_o use_v they_o not_o otherwise_o then_o hog_n do_v their_o draff_n &_o swill_n but_o david_n see_v that_o god_n have_v give_v he_o a_o kingdom_n wherein_o the_o pure_a word_n of_o god_n and_o true_a religion_n flourish_v this_o great_a benefit_n he_o acknowledge_v and_o therefore_o he_o so_o rejoice_v and_o magnify_v his_o jerusalem_n as_o a_o place_n appoint_v by_o the_o lords_z own_o mouth_n where_o the_o people_n may_v come_v together_o to_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o to_o give_v thanks_n unto_o god_n for_o speak_v can_v not_o find_v god_n hereby_o we_o may_v see_v how_o horrible_a a_o thing_n it_o be_v to_o contemn_v and_o to_o loathe_v the_o word_n for_o what_o can_v be_v more_o horrible_a than_o that_o man_n a_o weak_a creature_n nothing_o but_o earth_n &_o dust_n shall_v so_o lift_v up_o himself_o in_o pride_n that_o when_o the_o majesty_n of_o god_n speak_v &_o most_o love_o invite_v he_o to_o hear_v he_o will_v not_o hear_v and_o yet_o we_o see_v that_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o common_a than_o this_o impiety_n this_o horrible_a contempt_n this_o devilish_a loathe_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n amongst_o all_o sort_n of_o man_n the_o cause_n be_v for_o that_o we_o hear_v not_o the_o lord_n speak_v now_o unto_o we_o in_o his_o majesty_n as_o he_o speak_v in_o the_o mount_v sinai_n at_o what_o time_n the_o people_n be_v astonish_v &_o tremble_v at_o the_o terrible_a voice_n of_o the_o lord_n &_o yet_o how_o soon_o have_v they_o forget_v the_o lord_n and_o murmur_v both_o against_o the_o lord_n and_o against_o moses_n thus_o in_o his_o majesty_n he_o speak_v no_o more_o but_o he_o speak_v now_o unto_o we_o by_o man_n and_o therefore_o he_o be_v contemn_v horrible_a it_o be_v that_o sodom_n be_v burn_v up_o with_o fire_n from_o heaven_n horrible_a it_o be_v also_o that_o the_o whole_a world_n be_v destroy_v with_o water_n moreover_o the_o daily_a example_n of_o impiety_n and_o wickedness_n as_o murder_v whoredom_n etc_n etc_n be_v such_o that_o they_o can_v not_o be_v hear_v without_o horror_n &_o tremble_a but_o how_o horrible_a so_o ever_o all_o these_o thing_n be_v yet_o be_v it_o much_o more_o horrible_a to_o contemn_v god_n when_o by_o his_o word_n he_o speak_v unto_o we_o which_o all_o the_o world_n do_v at_o this_o day_n not_o only_o they_o which_o persecute_v the_o word_n with_o open_a tyranny_n but_o such_o also_o as_o be_v even_o amongst_o we_o &_o at_o the_o beginning_n seem_v to_o receive_v this_o doctrine_n with_o great_a rejoice_v wherefore_o david_n exhort_v
god_n that_o we_o shall_v suffer_v trouble_n and_o affliction_n yet_o in_o he_o we_o shall_v overcome_v at_o length_n the_o 125._o psalm_n they_o that_o trust_v in_o the_o lord_n etc_n etc_n the_o psalm_n go_v before_o be_v a_o thanksgiving_n or_o a_o sacrifice_n of_o praise_n psalm_n because_o the_o godly_a see_v and_o by_o experience_n feel_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v faithful_a and_o help_v faithful_a likewise_o to_o a_o sure_a trust_n and_o affiance_n in_o the_o help_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o all_o their_o necessity_n whereunto_o he_o stir_v they_o up_o with_o great_a and_o excellent_a promise_n it_o may_v also_o be_v easy_o understand_v by_o that_o which_o we_o have_v say_v before_o for_o herein_o consist_v all_o this_o heavenly_a wisdom_n that_o we_o do_v utter_o remove_v out_o of_o our_o sight_n what_o so_o ever_o flesh_n can_v comprehend_v and_o believe_v that_o which_o the_o word_n only_o tell_v we_o even_o against_o all_o that_o which_o either_o we_o know_v feel_v or_o see_v and_o therefore_o this_o wisdom_n be_v against_o all_o humane_a wisdom_n and_o reason_n for_o by_o reason_n and_o all_o that_o reason_n can_v comprehend_v we_o feel_v see_v and_o conceive_v all_o thing_n contrary_a to_o that_o which_o faith_n lead_v we_o unto_o he_o that_o lie_v sick_a and_o at_o the_o point_n of_o death_n can_v by_o reason_n conceive_v nothing_o else_o but_o y_fw-fr imagination_n of_o death_n but_o a_o christian_n man_n leave_v that_o imagination_n know_v that_o in_o death_n there_o be_v true_a life_n but_o thou_o will_v say_v he_o see_v and_o feel_v death_n in_o deed_n but_o life_n he_o can_v not_o feel_v i_o answer_v that_o because_o he_o rest_v upon_o the_o word_n and_o after_o it_o he_o judge_v and_o not_o after_o his_o own_o feel_n therefore_o even_o in_o death_n he_o see_v nothing_o but_o life_n and_o in_o the_o mid_n of_o darkness_n most_o clear_a light_n word_n for_o like_a as_o god_n make_v all_o thing_n of_o nothing_o and_o of_o darkness_n light_n so_o he_o work_v by_o his_o word_n that_o in_o death_n there_o be_v nothing_o but_o life_n they_o then_o which_o stick_n to_o the_o word_n and_o promise_n of_o god_n and_o follow_v the_o same_o do_v find_v it_o true_a which_o david_n say_v 33._o he_o speak_v the_o word_n and_o it_o be_v do_v etc_n etc_n but_o before_o we_o can_v come_v to_o this_o experience_n we_o must_v abide_v some_o trouble_n &_o therefore_o have_v need_n of_o such_o exhortation_n as_o this_o psalm_n here_o set_v forth_o verse_n 1._o they_o that_o trust_v in_o the_o lord_n shall_v be_v as_o mount_n zion_n which_o can_v not_o be_v remove_v but_o remain_v for_o ever_o the_o prophet_n use_v here_o a_o similitude_n of_o mount_n zion_n because_o jerusalem_n wherein_o zion_n stand_v when_o the_o temple_n be_v build_v etc_n etc_n and_o therefore_o david_n in_o a_o other_o psalm_n glory_v on_o this_o wise_a 48._o loe_o the_o king_n be_v gather_v and_o go_v together_o when_o they_o see_v it_o they_o marvel_v they_o be_v astonish_v and_o sudden_o drive_v back_o as_o we_o may_v see_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v under_o ezechias_n in_o that_o great_a destruction_n of_o the_o assyrian_n and_o other_o king_n as_o the_o story_n witness_v which_o show_v that_o jerusalem_n remain_v safe_a in_o all_o danger_n not_o by_o the_o strength_n and_o policy_n of_o the_o inhabitant_n but_o by_o the_o miraculous_a work_n of_o cease_v to_o exercise_v ourselves_o in_o the_o continual_a meditation_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o the_o edify_a both_o of_o ourselves_o and_o of_o the_o church_n for_o there_o be_v nothing_o so_o pernicious_a as_o the_o opinion_n of_o many_o at_o this_o day_n who_o as_o soon_o as_o they_o have_v get_v never_o so_o little_a knowledge_n of_o this_o heavenly_a wisdom_n think_v themselves_o by_o and_o by_o to_o be_v great_a doctor_n for_o see_v that_o these_o thing_n do_v not_o consist_v in_o fine_a and_o eloquent_a talk_n in_o reason_v and_o dispute_v but_o in_o practice_n and_o experience_n direct_v not_o by_o man_n reason_n but_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n they_o be_v miserable_o deceive_v that_o rest_n in_o bare_a and_o naked_a knowledge_n which_o be_v but_o unprofitable_a without_o experience_n and_o practice_v in_o the_o old_a testament_n god_n appoint_v but_o only_o the_o ten_o commandment_n wherein_o he_o will_v have_v his_o people_n to_o be_v exercise_v and_o occupy_v but_o who_o be_v there_o ever_o among_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n which_o can_v say_v that_o he_o be_v able_a to_o attain_v to_o the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n set_v forth_o in_o those_o commandment_n and_o shall_v we_o which_o in_o the_o new_a testament_n have_v the_o whole_a scripture_n set_v forth_o unto_o we_o glory_n in_o the_o fullness_n and_o perfection_n of_o our_o knowledge_n let_v we_o not_o think_v therefore_o so_o high_o of_o ourselves_o but_o let_v we_o humble_v ourselves_o before_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o confess_v this_o wisdom_n to_o be_v continual_o to_o be_v exercise_v in_o the_o three_o first_o commandment_n lamentable_a it_o be_v to_o see_v what_o a_o multitude_n there_o be_v of_o such_o as_o continual_o blaspheme_v god_n either_o that_o of_o very_a purpose_n man_n be_v cast_v unto_o satan_n and_o eternal_a damnation_n by_o false_a teacher_n and_o minister_n of_o iniquity_n now_o consider_v whether_o it_o be_v not_o better_o with_o trouble_n to_o keep_v and_o enjoy_v the_o word_n of_o god_n then_o with_o loss_n of_o the_o word_n to_o live_v in_o peace_n and_o tranquillity_n though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o heavenly_a a_o peace_n as_o for_o i_o i_o will_v not_o desire_v to_o live_v in_o paradise_n without_o the_o word_n and_o with_o the_o word_n to_o live_v in_o hell_n it_o be_v a_o easy_a matter_n like_v as_o in_o this_o world_n we_o live_v as_o it_o be_v in_o hell_n and_o comfort_v ourselves_o only_o with_o hope_n which_o the_o word_n of_o god_n show_v unto_o we_o and_o with_o this_o hope_n we_o overcome_v all_o kind_n of_o trouble_n &_o cross_n let_v we_o therefore_o lay_v sure_a hold_n on_o this_o consolation_n which_o the_o holy_a ghost_n here_o set_v forth_o unto_o we_o whereof_o also_o all_o they_o have_v great_a need_n that_o teach_v the_o word_n of_o truth_n namely_o that_o they_o be_v not_o the_o cause_n of_o offence_n trouble_n and_o sedition_n there_o must_v needs_o be_v offence_n there_o must_v needs_o be_v lucian_n epicure_n contemner_n and_o scorner_n of_o religion_n troubler_n of_o the_o peace_n and_o quietness_n of_o the_o church_n but_o bless_v be_v they_o which_o be_v not_o the_o cause_n of_o these_o evil_n but_o be_v preacher_n of_o peace_n and_o seek_v by_o all_o godly_a mean_n peace_n and_o christian_n unity_n in_o the_o number_n of_o who_o by_o god_n special_a grace_n we_o be_v at_o this_o day_n how_o soever_o the_o world_n think_v of_o we_o and_o we_o will_v pray_v unto_o god_n that_o for_o christ_n sake_n he_o will_v so_o keep_v we_o even_o to_o the_o uttermost_a breath_n thus_o be_v the_o enemy_n of_o god_n and_o his_o word_n paint_v out_o by_o david_n in_o this_o psalm_n and_o also_o the_o true_a state_n of_o the_o church_n teach_v we_o thereby_o that_o we_o shall_v arm_v ourselves_o against_o these_o danger_n and_o give_v thanks_n unto_o god_n for_o this_o great_a consolation_n that_o whatsoever_o tumult_n and_o trouble_n arise_v in_o the_o it_o promise_v seem_v either_o absurd_a &_o unlikely_a or_o impossible_a or_o else_o incredible_a &_o against_o all_o reason_n therefore_o they_o which_o have_v once_o begin_v to_o believe_v have_v need_n of_o continual_a exhortation_n to_o stir_v they_o up_o against_o the_o tentation_n of_o the_o flesh_n which_o strive_v against_o faith_n &_o the_o word_n of_o god_n lest_o the_o spirit_n be_v of_o they_o both_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o there_o be_v such_o a_o multitude_n of_o false_a prophet_n rebel_n &_o seditious_a person_n amongst_o this_o people_n as_o the_o story_n do_v testify_v wherefore_o david_n be_v teach_v by_o his_o own_o experience_n pray_v for_o these_o 2._o thing_n without_o the_o which_o the_o world_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o wild_a desert_n example_n hereof_o may_v be_v unto_o we_o the_o late_a time_n wherein_o we_o live_v under_o the_o pope_n before_o this_o light_n of_o the_o gospel_n begin_v to_o shine_v for_o then_o when_o the_o sound_a doctrine_n of_o the_o word_n be_v lack_v what_o can_v the_o pope_n &_o all_o his_o shaveling_n do_v what_o one_o verse_n do_v they_o right_o understand_v throughout_o the_o whole_a psalter_n whereby_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o resist_v most_o manifest_a impiety_n which_o by_o the_o strong_a &_o mighty_a delusion_n of_o the_o devil_n overflow_v the_o world_n as_o in_o pilgrimage_n where_o they_o maintain_v most_o damnable_a idolatry_n and_o cause_v the_o people_n to_o adore_v the_o work_n of_o their_o own_o hand_n and_o if_o any_o man_n speak_v against_o they_o he_o be_v up_o and_o by_o take_v and_o burn_v as_o a_o heretic_n so_o true_a be_v it_o that_o when_o the_o word_n be_v once_o lose_v the_o world_n remain_v in_o most_o horrible_a darkness_n and_o can_v do_v nothing_o else_o but_o abuse_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o so_o fall_v to_o most_o detestable_a impiety_n or_o else_o to_o desperation_n this_o david_n foresee_v and_o therefore_o he_o pray_v so_o earnest_o for_o the_o prosperity_n of_o jerusalem_n for_o faithful_a pastor_n in_o the_o church_n and_o godly_a prince_n in_o the_o politic_a state_n verse_n 8._o for_o together_o what_o must_v we_o here_o do_v the_o pope_n answer_v and_o give_v this_o counsel_n that_o we_o shall_v fly_v into_o some_o solitary_a place_n or_o into_o some_o monastery_n not_o so_o say_v there_o find_v these_o word_n to_o be_v full_a of_o consolation_n they_o can_v not_o prevail_v this_o consolation_n we_o must_v hold_v fast_o even_o when_o we_o be_v kill_v as_o by_o the_o example_n of_o the_o primitive_a church_n we_o be_v teach_v for_o the_o church_n be_v as_o it_o be_v water_v with_o the_o blood_n of_o the_o faithful_a that_o the_o great_a increase_n may_v come_v thereof_o now_o like_v as_o these_o word_n of_o the_o prophet_n be_v right_o apply_v to_o that_o persecution_n which_o be_v do_v with_o the_o sword_n so_o must_v they_o be_v apply_v also_o to_o the_o assault_n of_o heretic_n and_o sectary_n for_o it_o be_v their_o property_n to_o boast_v and_o brag_v of_o the_o victory_n &_o always_o to_o triumph_v before_o the_o victory_n but_o how_o so_o ever_o our_o adversary_n triumph_n &_o glory_n let_v we_o endeavour_n to_o hold_v fast_o the_o word_n and_o what_o so_o ever_o we_o do_v let_v we_o apply_v it_o whole_o to_o the_o amplify_a of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n and_o his_o word_n if_o then_o as_o needs_o it_o must_v be_v assault_n and_o battle_n do_v follow_v yet_o let_v we_o sing_v with_o david_n they_o can_v not_o prevail_v for_o albeit_o they_o kill_v we_o yet_o neither_o the_o pope_n nor_o any_o other_o heretic_n nor_o the_o turk_n nor_o satan_n himself_o shall_v ever_o be_v able_a to_o quench_v the_o word_n neither_o yet_o shall_v carnal_a wisdom_n be_v able_a to_o overcome_v namely_o that_o the_o wicked_a do_v not_o only_o prosper_v but_o their_o felicity_n also_o continue_v long_a so_o that_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v as_o a_o satan_n so_o rule_v in_o these_o matter_n that_o he_o never_o cease_v to_o oppress_v the_o ministry_n as_o much_o as_o in_o he_o lie_v with_o poverty_n and_o contempt_n this_o many_o not_o content_v to_o bear_v do_v fall_v so_o far_o that_o rather_o than_o they_o will_v lack_v they_o will_v teach_v the_o thing_n that_o please_v man_n that_o so_o they_o may_v attain_v to_o wealth_n and_o dignity_n the_o godly_a must_v therefore_o hold_v fast_o this_o promise_n that_o the_o lord_n say_v he_o will_v give_v bread_n unto_o his_o poor_a for_o both_o these_o thing_n shall_v come_v to_o pass_v that_o that_o god_n will_v preserve_v his_o word_n among_o we_o and_o that_o we_o may_v continue_v in_o the_o same_o unto_o the_o end_n for_o when_o the_o word_n be_v pure_o teach_v all_o thing_n be_v safe_a
