and_o capacity_n that_o it_o have_v the_o image_n thereof_o be_v the_o image_n of_o almighty_a god_n himself_o for_o in_o very_a deed_n there_o be_v nothing_o in_o all_o the_o earth_n that_o more_o resemble_v almighty_a god_n there_o be_v nothing_o whereby_o we_o may_v come_v to_o a_o more_o evident_a knowledge_n of_o he_o than_o by_o the_o soul_n and_o therefore_o the_o ancient_a philosopher_n and_o namely_o anaxagoras_n know_v no_o meet_a name_n to_o be_v give_fw-ge unto_o god_n than_o mens_n the_o mind_n which_o be_v as_o much_o to_o say_v as_o a_o reasonable_a soul_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o great_a similitude_n and_o likeness_n that_o they_o perceive_v to_o be_v between_o god_n and_o it_o and_o this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o the_o substance_n of_o our_o soul_n can_v not_o be_v perfect_o understode_v for_o be_v as_o it_o be_v very_o like_a unto_o the_o substance_n of_o god_n which_o can_v not_o be_v know_v in_o this_o life_n it_o follow_v that_o the_o substance_n of_o the_o almighty_a god_n to_o dwell_v in_o his_o house_n to_o eat_v at_o his_o table_n to_o enjoy_v those_o thing_n that_o almighty_a god_n himself_o enjoy_v to_o be_v clothe_v with_o the_o same_o garment_n of_o immortality_n that_o he_o himself_o be_v clothe_v withal_o and_o to_o reign_v everlasting_o with_o he_o and_o hereof_o it_o come_v that_o the_o soul_n have_v such_o a_o wonderful_a capacity_n which_o be_v so_o great_a man_n the_o wonderful_a capacity_n of_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n that_o all_o the_o creature_n and_o riches_n of_o the_o world_n put_v together_o be_v no_o more_o able_a to_o fille_fw-fr she_o capacity_n than_o a_o barley_n corn_n be_v able_a to_o fille_fw-fr all_o the_o whole_a world_n now_o therefore_o what_o recompense_n shall_v we_o make_v unto_o our_o most_o devotion_n in_o the_o world_n there_o be_v none_o more_o secure_a none_o more_o profitable_a or_o more_o universal_a for_o all_o kind_n of_o person_n than_o the_o remembrance_n of_o the_o holy_a passion_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n albertus_n magnus_n saiethe_v passion_n note_v what_o great_a profit_n ensew_v by_o meditation_n upon_o the_o holy_a passion_n that_o it_o be_v more_o profitable_a for_o a_o man_n to_o meditate_v every_o day_n a_o little_a upon_o the_o holy_a passion_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n than_o to_o fast_o with_o bread_n and_o water_n all_o the_o friday_n in_o the_o year_n and_o to_o discipline_n and_o scourge_n himself_o until_o he_o shed_v blood_n and_o to_o say_v all_o the_o whole_a psalter_n from_o one_o end_n thereof_o to_o a_o other_o at_o the_o least_o wise_a this_o be_v very_o certain_a that_o this_o holy_a exercise_n be_v a_o pass_v great_a help_n to_o directe_v the_o soul_n in_o all_o virtue_n and_o goodness_n for_o consider_v that_o our_o saviour_n christ_n be_v as_o he_o himself_o say_v 14.6_o joan._n 14.6_o the_o way_n the_o truth_n and_o the_o life_n there_o be_v none_o other_o exercise_n more_o fit_a and_o conveniente_a to_o directe_v we_o to_o go_v unto_o god_n to_o know_v god_n and_o to_o enjoy_v god_n than_o to_o fix_v always_o our_o eye_n upon_o our_o saviour_n christ_n for_o though_o christ_n be_v unto_o we_o the_o way_n the_o treuth_n and_o the_o life_n in_o all_o thing_n wheresoever_o we_o consider_v he_o yet_o be_v he_o most_o especial_o so_o unto_o we_o when_o we_o behold_v he_o upon_o the_o cross_n and_o therefore_o s._n bernarde_n say_v very_o divout_o bernarde_n s._n bernarde_n well_o may_v i_o o_o lord_n compass_n about_o heaven_n and_o earth_n yet_o shall_v i_o not_o find_v the_o but_o upon_o contemplation_n whereby_o it_o appear_v that_o this_o first_o manner_n of_o meditatinge_v by_o way_n of_o take_v compassion_n of_o the_o bitter_a pain_n of_o our_o saviour_n be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o mean_a or_o a_o ladder_n unto_o all_o the_o other_o and_o for_o this_o very_a cause_n s._n bonaventure_n make_v great_a account_n of_o this_o manner_n of_o meditation_n upon_o the_o passion_n
