dislike_n of_o these_o dishonest_a imagination_n and_o place_v that_o strong_a resistance_n in_o thy_o soul_n by_o which_o she_o refuse_v the_o tentation_n as_o much_o as_o she_o can_v and_o not_o be_v able_a as_o much_o as_o she_o will_v conceive_v a_o vehement_a displeasure_n and_o hatred_n against_o the_o tentation_n and_o against_o herself_o and_o so_o these_o pang_n and_o afliction_n be_v very_o meritorious_a and_o a_o great_a gain_n for_o thou_o and_o a_o exceed_a increase_n of_o thy_o virtue_n 3._o see_v thou_o philotheus_n how_o this_o fire_n be_v cover_v with_o ash_n in_o this_o holy_a soul_n and_o that_o the_o tentation_n and_o delight_n be_v already_o enter_v into_o the_o hart_n and_o have_v compass_v and_o besiege_v the_o will_n which_o only_o asi_v by_o her_o saviour_n grace_n resist_v by_o a_o bitter_a detestation_n of_o these_o wicked_a and_o lawless_a pleasure_n all_o the_o battery_n that_o be_v present_v unto_o it_o refuse_v always_o to_o give_v consent_n to_o the_o sinful_a suggestion_n with_o which_o it_o be_v so_o dangerous_o and_o universal_o enuiron_v o_o what_o distress_n be_v it_o to_o a_o soul_n that_o love_v god_n not_o so_o much_o as_o to_o know_v whether_o he_o be_v in_o she_o or_o no_o or_o whether_o the_o heavenly_a fore_n of_o charity_n for_o which_o she_o fight_v be_v altogether_o extinguish_v in_o she_o or_o no_o but_o this_o be_v the_o flower_n and_o perfection_n of_o the_o heavenly_a love_n to_o make_v the_o lover_n to_o suffer_v and_o to_o fight_v for_o love_n not_o know_v whether_o he_o have_v within_o he_o that_o love_n for_o which_o and_o by_o which_o he_o continue_v valiant_o fight_v a_o encouragement_n to_o the_o soul_n vex_v with_o temptation_n chapter_n 5._o 1._o my_o philotheus_n god_n never_o permit_v these_o vehement_a tentation_n to_o arise_v but_o only_o against_o such_o soul_n which_o he_o mean_v to_o extol_v and_o promote_v to_o the_o dignity_n of_o his_o pure_a and_o excellent_a love_n but_o it_o what_o state_n she_o be_v let_v we_o lay_v our_o hand_n on_o our_o hart_n let_v we_o consider_v if_o the_o hart_n and_o will_v do_v yet_o retain_v their_o spiritual_a motion_n that_o be_v if_o they_o do_v their_o endeour_n to_o refuse_v all_o consent_n to_o the_o tentation_n and_o delight_n thereof_o for_o so_o long_o as_o this_o motion_n of_o refusal_n be_v with_o in_o our_o hart_n we_o may_v be_v assure_v that_o charity_n the_o life_n of_o our_o soul_n remain_v yet_o in_o we_o and_o that_o jesus_n christ_n our_o saviour_n be_v there_o present_a though_o hide_a and_o secret_o so_o that_o by_o virtue_n of_o continual_a prayer_n and_o use_v of_o the_o sacrament_n and_o of_o confidence_n in_o god_n grace_n we_o shall_v recover_v our_o force_n and_o live_v a_o sound_n healthy_a and_o and_o careful_o the_o fruit_n of_o consolation_n already_o receive_v then_o shall_v thou_o receive_v more_o store_n again_o for_o to_o he_o that_o have_v more_o shaloe_n give_v and_o he_o that_o
